It's been a good minute! We're excited to drop our latest conversation on Bookie, an underrated sitcom-series on Max created by Chuck Lorre and Nick Bakay. The show basically follows Danny (Sebastian Maniscalco), a bookie, and Ray (Omar Dorsey), his muscle, as they deal with an unorthodox profession in Los Angeles. Shenanigans ensue in the form of unstable clients, greedy family members, and random imbroglios. It's funny, filled with clever banter, and quite observant of Los Angeles culture; sadly, it was cancelled prematurely. We talk about its merits and lament the impatience of modern studios/platforms when it comes to letting shows find their audience. Enjoy!

Comedian, actor, television writer, author and musician Paul Reiser is one of Hollywood's most prolific creatives.2024 is a busy year for Reiser. On the heels of his new comedy The Problem with People which Reiser wrote, produced, and starred in alongside Colm Meaney and Jane Levy, Reiser has projects across a multitude of media formats. In March, Carter Burke, Reiser's iconic character from Aliens re-emerged in a What-if… concept comic book from Marvel comics and he appeared in the independent comedy The Gutter, directed by Isaiah and Yassir Lester. Reiser also co-wrote the New York Times bestseller What A Fool Believes: A Memoir the candid, freewheeling memoir of his friend and Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Michael McDonald. In July, Reiser will appear in Netflix's Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F, reprising his role from BH Cop 1 and 2. Recently, Reiser could be seen in Hulu's critically-acclaimed comedy series “Reboot” by Modern Family creator Steve Levitan. He also took his first step into bloody, superhero glory in Season 3 of Amazon Prime's Emmy-nominated The Boys playing “The Legend.” Reiser is widely celebrated for his roles in two hit shows for Netflix: Stranger Thing and Chuck Lorre's The Kominsky Method, for which he received an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor. His subsequent books, Babyhood and Familyhood, were best sellers as well. Voted by Comedy Central as one of the Top 100 Comedians of All Time, Reiser regularly performs sold-out standup at venues nationwide with dates currently booked throughout 2022 and beyond. A SUNY Binghamton graduate of its prestigious music program, Reiser co-wrote the theme song for Mad About You, “The Final Frontier,” with Grammy-winning producer Don Was, and released an album of original songs with British singer-songwriter Julia Fordham called Unusual Suspects. It's cold. You've had a long day as an industrial water treatment professional battling scale, corrosion, unwanted microbiological activity, and inefficiencies. You're tired. You just want to go home, kick your feet up, relax, and get warm. You forget to take your test kit out of the car. You wake up in the morning, drive to the next industrial water system, open up your test kit, and it is FROZEN SOLID! What do you do? Do you run around in circles? Do you sit the test kit as closely to a boiler as you dare to thaw it out? Do you dunk it in hot water? The first thing you should do is learn your lesson and never let your test kit freeze again. Ever. I'll admit, I learned this lesson the hard way. Next, I consulted with a trusty test-kit manufacturing expert, and his suggestion was to allow it to thaw at room temperature. He said do NOT artificially heat it, even in hot water. Most reagents are likely to recover. To be safe, you should compare your test results to new reagents or another rep's results. Personally, I found my iodide/iodate titration solution used in the sulfite test was never the same after it froze and gave me low readings. You could also just replace all your reagents, but I understand that could get expensive. Another thing to consider when a test kit freezes is the impact upon testing equipment such as the pH probe, which may have cracked or broken as its internal solution froze and expanded. Today I'm joined by legendary character actor William Fichtner. I had him on the show to discuss his latest film 88. Having appeared in a wide range of films along with television and theater roles over the course of his career, William Fichtner continues to carve out a distinctive reputation as one of our most versatile and talented actors, whether in comedy or drama, action or character study. He is one of Hollywood's most distinct and familiar faces. Fichtner can next be seen in the Robert Rodriguez feature film Hypnotic alongside Ben Affleck and Alice Braga, and in 88 directed by Thomas Ikimi.
