The Calgary Flames lost a game they absolutely shouldn't have last night against the St. Louis Blues. Peter Klein breaks it all down. He then ranks the potential Super Bowl matchups we could get in the NFL, while also giving his thoughts on the latest coaching news around the league. Then, it's off to the world of baseball where Peter unveils what his Baseball Hall of Fame ballot would be. He closes with his thoughts on Bell Lets Talk Day.
Mental Health is one of the most important issues facing the human race today. Obesity, racism, violent crime, substance abuse and suicide can all be linked to mental health. Somehow all the aforementioned topics are open for conversation but mental health is still this topic we tend to shy away from. If anything, it should be THE topic as it is the source of all the other issues. Many people feel weak or ashamed to ask for help. I have always said that the strongest thing you can do is to acknowledge your weakness and work on them. In Canada we have Bell Lets Talk Day on Jan 26th to bring awareness to mental health. I think everyday is a Let's Talk Day. In this episode I share some thoughts on how to identify and reframe your life so that you can start the process of healing. Its like a workout for your soul! Enjoy. Thank you to our sponsors. @mytpi @perform_better Register for all your MyTPI classes here: http://www.mytpi.com/certification/seminar-calendar Want to buy some equipment? Of course you do! Peter Klein was feeling under the weather but nothing made him sicker than how the Baseball Hall Of Fame Vote went down. He shares his thoughts on that and on Bell Lets Talk Day.
Borderline and Back: Hope, Management and Resilience for Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD)
It is January 26, 2022 - #belllettstalk day here in Canada. What is Bell Lets Talk Day? So glad you asked! "On Bell Let's Talk Day, Bell will donate more towards mental health initiatives in Canada by contributing 5¢ for every applicable text, call, tweet or TikTok video using #BellLetsTalk, social media video view and use of our Facebook frame or Snapchat lens." More information on this initiative can be found at https://letstalk.bell.ca/en/ This podcast, this day - this initiative has inspired me to live more daringly and to open up about my diagnosis in my personal life. I owe it to each and every one of you to help educate people who know me about BPD - to work on ending the stigma associated with Borderline Personality Disorder by showing people that it isn't scary, we aren't villians. We are people you know, that you work with, and we are extremely loving and capable individuals. In short - thank you all for inspiring me to live authentically, boldly and to be even more vulnerable with people in my life. If you could use #bellletstalk just once today, it would mean the world to me. ~ Maggie --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/borderlineandback/message

WATCH the #BellLetsTalk Official Video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VUY-rizctHA Today is Bell Let's Talk Day. This is a day each year where we highlight the need for conversations about mental health and ending the stigma around them. #MichaelBuble is starring in the main video for today where he does regular things like vacuuming and watering a plant and all we have to do is watch it over and over for Bell to donate 5 cents every time we do to mental health programs across Canada. We'll have the video in the description for you. We can also get them to donate every time we text, tweet and post using the hashtag Bell Let's Talk. We've had the chance to have amazing conversations with people like Katy Perry who has been open about the fact that she suffered from depression after the release of her album Witness. Sam Smith has praised going to therapy as a way to help handle and cope with mental health challenges. #Halsey made the big announcement that she is pregnant! She shared the announcement photos on her Instagram with the caption saying “surprise!” She also posted the rainbow emoji possibly for the fact that this is going to be her rainbow baby. She tagged the man who is going to be the baby's father so lets learn a little bit more about him! His name is Alex Aydin and he is a screenwriter and producer, he is 37 and he has only been seen once in public with Halsey before when they went to get some art supplies in LA. The two of them have never confirmed their relationship and because they were so low-key there were never even rumours that she was with anyone. This definitely confirms it though with his comment on the photo today says "Heart so full, I love you, sweetness" and he said "I love you!!!!!! And I love this mini human already!" We don't know much about what to expect from The Weeknd's Super Bowl Halftime Show coming up on February 7th but fans seem to believe that he is going to bring out some surprise performers. It would make sense since he has collaborated with some big artists like Doja Cat, Rosalia, Kendrick Lamar, Major Lazer and Ariana Grande. There is a good chance we won't know until it is taking place but we do know we have a lot to look forward to! Halsey Announces She's Expecting by John R. WWE announcer & mental health advocate Mauro Ranallo joins TSN 1040 to discuss Bell Lets Talk Day. He describes the situation with fellow WWE employee Corey Graves that got wide media attention. He says he harbors no ill will and it was a blessing in disguise that got him off social media. He also highlights the need for more talk about the condition among people who suffer, saying while the public perception has improved greatly, there is still a long way to go.
In this Episode of the InGoal Radio Podcast presented by The Hockey Shop Source for Sports, we took the opportunity on Bell Let's Talk Day to chat with Justin Goldman, founder of The Goalie Guild, about his Lift the Mask program designed to help goaltenders improve their mental health. It's a subject our audience is familiar with based on past episodes with guests like Clint Malarchuk and Corey Hirsch sharing their battles with mental health, and one with strong ties to the goaltending world, from Robin Lehner's well documented struggles with, and recovery from, addiction and mental health disorders, to Finnish goaltender Jonathan Iilahti sharing his struggles in an article on InGoal Magazine earlier this season. Goldman has some insightful thoughts on the blurry lines between mental health and mental performance that will benefit goaltenders, coaches and goalie parents of every age, experience and level. In the gear segment presented by The Hockey Shop, Cam and Woody look at one of the most important pieces of equipment in every goalie's bag: the goalie jock. And yes, there's a way to fit it properly, which is why we only buy from the goalie staff at The Hockey Shop: they play the position, love the position and know how to help you find the right gear to keep you performing well -- and in this case playing safe.

This week we are talking with guest Jen Schwartz, the founder of Motherhood Understood about Maternal Mental Health Awareness. We talk about Jen's journey with Postpartum Depression and how she got help. We discuss how the stigma around Maternal Mental Health still exists and that there aren't enough resources to prepare and educate moms to be about the possibility to being hit by some form of PPD. We talk about how Jen is creating a community to help moms have this conversation and realize that we are not alone. Lastly, we also raise awareness around Bell Lets Talk Day (in Canada), a day focused on raising funds and helping reduce the stigma around mental health issues. Jen Schwartz is the medicated mommy who picked up the debris left by postpartum depression and anxiety and created MOTHERHOOD-UNDERSTOOD, a platform for the 1 in 7 moms affected by maternal mental health issues and the community she couldn’t find while struggling in a dark closet all by herself after the birth of her son. Jen gives permission slips to women who aren’t exactly enamored with their new role as mommy, so they can allow themselves to be the most real and honest versions of themselves. She helps them empathize, share, and connect with others who speak their language—moms who understand that new mommy life isn’t always the way it looks on Instagram. Jen is committed to shining the light on the darkest of places, where maternal mental health taboos have been hiding out, trying to make us believe that we are not enough and all alone. Jen is a writer, speaker, and influencer whose work and commentary has been featured all over the mommy blogosphere and on popular websites like Forbes, Bustle, The Mighty, Healthline, The Bump, Pop Sugar Moms, Scary Mommy, CafeMom and more. Recently, 2020 Moms named Jen their 2019 Blue Dot Project National Spokeswoman and Inspire partnered with her to create and run their maternal mental health online community forum. Though she will always consider herself a New Yorker, Jen now lives in Charlotte, NC with her husband Jason, tiny human Mason, and fur baby Harry Potter.

Former gambler turned personal finance coach Beau Humphreys shares his story from drowning debt to financial free. Long description: It was a random weeknight when I went to the Wealthsimple headquarters in downtown Toronto for their 3rd anniversary party. I was told there would be a donut wall, and I was not disappointed. Aside from the free donuts and drinks, I got to meet Beau Humphreys. I thought I knew all the Toronto personal finance bloggers, so it was a treat to meet Beau and hear his story at the party. Immediately I knew he had to be on my show. This episode is very different from any of my episodes, because it deals with a topic that I think most people wouldn't be as brave to openly discuss. Luckily Beau was happy to share his story of getting addicted to gambling at the young age of 11. There's a slogan by the BC Lottery (where I'm from) that's always stuck in my head: "Know your limit. Play within it." Good advice for sure, but let's get real here. Most people who frequent casinos or the race track on a regular basis know their limit, but are incapable of playing within it. Gambling is as serious an addition as alcoholism or drug addiction. And I think it's incredibly important for anyone dealing with something like this to recognize this and find the help they need. That's exactly what Beau did. He got professional help and it changed his life. He found out that his addiction stemmed from him having undiagnosed ADD. With that knowledge, he was able to turn his life around. And now look at him! He's travelling to Kenya for vacation and teaching others how they can get over whatever obstacle to achieve financial freedom. It's a happy coincidence I'm releasing this episode on Bell Let's Talk Day, which is all about talking openly about mental health. And for that reason I'm going to include some helpful links anyone is looking for someone to talk to. Helpful Resources Ontario Problem Gambling Helpline (Canada) Find a Treatment Centre in Your Province (Canada) National Council on Problem Gambling (USA) Quotes to Live By Money problems usually having nothing to do with money.
