Bells Brewery Hopslam Ale 2023 is a Double IPA by style. Starting with six different hop varietals added to the brew kettle & culminating with a massive dry-hop addition of Simcoe hops, Bell's Hopslam® Ale possesses the most complex hopping schedule in the Bell's repertoire. This craft beer is 10% ABV and 65 IBUs. In this craft beer review, we will take a look at the color, smell, and taste.

After having somewhat of an unintentional hiatus, beer has been back in a big way the last few weeks on our Thursday Night live shows on Twitch. Some of them have already made their way into podcast form while others can be enjoyed via our YouTube channel where we upload the entire episode every week. While planning for a recent show, we figured if one beer in an episode is good, then two might be better. For this episode we are bringing back two beers that we have had before, the Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA and the Bells Hopslam. This will be the third time we have given the Hopslam air time on our channel and the second time for the 90 Minute IPA. We enjoy revisiting old favorites and are always happy to try those again that may not have won us over initially. Each of these falls into one of those categories. If you don't know which one is which you can find out in the archives at our website. Or if you prefer an easier solution, sit back and enjoy this show. What did we think? What do you think? Let us know in the comments below or join us live on Thursday nights to give us your feedback while we are live streaming on Twitch. If you have any ideas for future episodes of "Give It A Shot" or just have a question, you can always send us an email to AboutBeverages@gmail.com.

Wednesday January 26 2022 - and yesterday the Detroit Free Press called 2022 the year of the craft lager. We'll see if they're right. Brought to you by The Real Voice - Mel Allen. Providing voice over for commercials, podcasts, explainer videos, eLearning, telephone systems, and more. Samples and demos at https://therealvoice.com First - kudos to Four Quarters in Winooski, VT for turning their outdoor patio into a skating rink. It's a great use of a space during the coldest months of the year in this area. You can check out the video of the outdoor skating area (complete with a fire pit) at https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=639426120845987&extid=CL-UNK-UNK-UNK-AN_GK0T-GK1C and check out 4Quarters at https://www.4qbc.com/ But - I found out - they're not the only one doing it! Nope - there's Fifty West Brewing https://fiftywestbrew.com/ice-skating/, Schram Haus Brewery http://schramhausbrewery.com/icerink/, and Throwback Brewery (whose was unfortunately damaged, but re-opening Friday) https://www.throwbackbrewery.com/blog/therink/ all have skating on site. Brewery Hockey leagues anyone? When you re-rank all the new wines, it shakes things up a bit - and turns out you might be able to get a great value as a result of the new rankings from Wine Spectator. I've frequently gone back to some advice from a friend of mine that the best bottle of wines often only costs around $15 - $25 dollars. Sounds like that almost still holds true as The Top 10 Wine Values of 2021 rankings meet three criteria: They have rated 90 points or higher on Wine Spectator's 100-point scale. They cost $40 or less and provide three other things - quality, price, and availability. They're wines with solid track records that are good representatives of their regions. Get the rundown and put together your shopping list at https://www.mercurynews.com/2022/01/25/10-best-wine-values-from-wine-spectators-new-rankings/ I bet this will be talked about at the Naples Winter Wine Fest this weekend! And this time of year is when IPAs are most popular - so let's look at eight highly rated Double IPA's and see how they rank when it's a blind taste testing panel. Dirt Wolf and Florida man are the only two I haven't tried yet, but by the rankings, there are no losers on this list. Even the 8th ranked Double IPA is described as a well-made beer that's complex, flavorful, and easy to drink - and it seems to get better from there! However, it was a smashing success for Lawson's Finest Liquids out of Waitsfield, Vermont as they took two top spots! At number 3 was Second Fiddle Double Fiddle, number 2 was Bell's Hopslam and at number 1 was Lawson's Finest Double Sunshine. https://uproxx.com/life/high-rated-double-ipas-blind-taste-tested-and-ranked/ Next Time: Coming up Another Round, the special interview editions of The Boozebuddy Update are tentatively scheduled to start on February 5th. Ever feel like you have too much stuff around the house, and you can't wait until spring to do the cleaning? Well Nox had too many different kinds of beer in the ol' fridge that he saved up for sampling on the podcast that he had to force an episode on everyone even after recording another episode before. This is like a "What's in Your Mouth", but a bit longer, looser, and more fun (We think). During this one the gang samples some collabs first, with Promise Ring from Blackstack in collab with Junkyard, we continue with the verticle with Passing Notes from Junkyard in collab with Blackstack. Fair State Brewing did a collab with Modern Times called Spirit Foul, Half Brothers collaborated with Drekker with their Brothers Gotta Hug Black IPA. Then we calm things down a bit with City Light's Mosaic Pale Ale, and the A-team from Fargo Brewing. Then comes something wild with Colors That End in "Urple" from Drekker, Ultracloud from Junkyard, and finishing up with tasting notes on the 2019 release of Hopslam from Bell's. In episode 110, Tony & Eddie sit back, relax and talk about two new beers that they've been waiting to review. Eddie gets his hands on some Bells, Hopslam. Sweet aromatic, sticky icky hops are promised by this beer. Did they deliver? Tony tries to re-live his days of college grandeur by sampling a hemp infused beer from Sweet Water Brewing. The smell here is powerful, but is the flavor? That and much more is in this week's episode. The boys also talk about an episode that they lost due to some tech issues last week. It featured a movie that they highly recommend. Check it out so you don't miss out on a really interesting flick! And as always, we hope you enjoy this episode of, the Cinemantics.

So I'm a craft beer guy. I wasn't always a craft beer guy. It took me to move to Pennsyvlania at age 25 to realize that there were good beers out there that weren't named Natural, Beast or Bud. But I also have a very diverse palate when it comes to the types of beers I drink. In my older age, I've learned to drink for flavor not to drink to figure out how many beers we can get for $20 at the local Farm Fresh or Food Lion -- yes, in Virginia, you could buy cheap swill at the grocery store. Thankfully by the time I was actually 21, Yuengling Lager had made its way down to Virginia. You know what the difference between a pint of Lager in Pennsylvania and a pint of Lager in Virginia is? About four bucks. Anyway, you're not here to hear me talk about my beer fridge - or maybe you are - but this is Short Time Shots, a look back at the day's scores and more in the world of college wrestling from January 25, 2018, I'm your media guide slinging, craft beer enjoying Hall of Fame wrestling announcer, writer and broadcaster Jason Bryant. But before I get to the scores, I want to call out my buddies over at the Bloodround Podcast, which is pretty much the antithesis of anything you'll find on the Mat Talk Podcast Network. They're close to Bell's Brewing out there in Michigan. I picked up a six pack today of a limited seasonal they put out called Hopslam. I'm not by any means an IPA guy. I typically don't like drinking a pine cone. But I also like rarities, so I'll give it a shot. The promotional video says … you know what. I'm just going to let you hear it in their own words … I'm very afraid. Now, FINALLY to wrestling, there were two Division I duals and both were in the Southern Conference. Appalachian State remained unbeaten in the SoCon with an 18-12 win over Campbell in a match that was rescheduled from some snow that hit the Southeast a week or so ago. Key victories there for the Mountaineers were by 174-pounder Forrest Przybysz who beat Andrew Morgan 13-11 and Codi Russell, who beat Nathan Boston in sudden victory at 133 pounds. Gavin Londoff's win at 149 over Zach Barnes was the match-clincher for JohnMark Bentley's squad. VMI, which has been struggling quite a bit in recent memory, picked up its first win over The Citadel in 11 years. The Keydets picked up falls from Blake Hohman and Gage Levine to help push past the Bulldogs 24-21 in a battle of bonus points. Hohman and 133-pound winner Hunter Starner are from my home district, so shout out to Mike Faus' New Kent Trojans and Doug Roper's Tabb Tigers -- they helped a D1 team get a W tonight. In Division II, St. Cloud State improved to 15-0 and extended its win streak to 24 in a row with a 42-3 win over Northern State. The jaw-dropper was at 157 where Tanner Olson, who was just 2-3 on the season coming in, beat No. 1-ranked Larry Bomstad of St. Cloud State 3-1. To try to put that in perspective -- it's like a guy from say, Cleveland State beating Bryce Meredith or something like that. No, Bomstad isn't a national champion, but he's been an All-American. So tip of the cap to the Wolves' Tanner Olsen. You know what, this isn't intentional, but Olsen … is from Wyoming. Keeping with the Northern Sun, Augustana - the one in South Dakota - upended Minnesota State 17-13, while Upper Iowa topped Southwest Minnesota State 25-13. Out west in Division II, Colorado School of Mines, yes, we've been over this, they're the Orediggers, well, they beat New Mexico Highlands 22-18. That action taking place in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. Also out there, Cal Baptist topped Colorado Mesa 36-9. This is the last year Cal Baptist is eligible to compete in Division II. The school announced it was moving to Division I last year. In Division III, fifth-ranked Loras tied a school record with its 16th dual meet win of the season. The Duhawks are 16-0 and topped Cornell College 27-9. Things weren't all sunshine and Tony Ramos for Loras as second-ranked Jimmy Davis was upended by Cornell's Phillip Opelt at 149 pounds. Both are returning All-Americans, but Opelt scored two and two late to pick up the win. Oneonta State beat King's College - that's KING'S with an apostrophe and an S, not King, 49-3. King's College is on just its second coach in school history. Previous coach Ned McGinley stepped down after last season after coaching at the Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania school for nearly 50 years. Gettysburg beat McDaniel 30-7 in Centennial Conference action. Tip of the cap to Andy Vogel, who also runs D3wrestle.com. In the NAIA, Southeastern beat Campbellsville 21-18 in a Mid-South Conference matchup, while Wayland Baptist beat Missouri Baptist and I'm going to assume they also beat Bacone, but since neither school had reported their scores by MIDNIGHT, I can't really report the men's side of things. Wayland Baptist's women DID officially beat both Missouri Baptist and Bacone in a double triple event in Muskogee. It was two tri meets held simultaneously in men's and women's wrestling. One JUCO score to pass along, North Idaho topped Division II Simon Fraser 31-15. CraftBrewedSports.com’s MMA expert, Tank Mansfield, joins the show and brings some of his favorite beer, Hopslam from Bell’s Brewing, with him. The guys talk about Mississippi State fans taunting Auburn, Carlos Henderson going full Super Troopers, the Cavs turning their petty up to 100, Jimmy Butler and Lolo Jones’ cherry, the Marlins home run statue, and injuries from the end of the Minnesota/New Orleans game. Tank breaks down UFC 220 and Bellator and gives his picks for the main events in both. The show gets serious for a bit talking about the Larry Nassar trial, and then goes right back to the normal shenanigans talking about the NFL this weekend. Craft Brewed Sports welcomes a new voice to the studio with our new producer, Joe. And we hear from long time listeners Money Blakeweather, Lou the Dog, JB Goddamnit, and Boyle, who tells a story about his battle with a local bottle shop owner.
Justin is joined by his friend Sarah Johnson all the way from sunny Florida! We pop open some fresh Hopslam from Bell's and go deep into a discussion on James Bond in the 90's. Pierce Brosnan can get it!

Jason and Mike take the hype head-on with the fresh release of Bell's Hopslam Ale. Hopslam is a Double India Pale ale brewed with honey. “Starting with six different hop varietals added to the brew kettle and culminating with a massive dry-hop addition of Simcoe hops…” At 10% ABV, this isn't a starter beer, but […]
