Growing up, I often heard my mom say, “Stand up straight!” At the time, it was little more than an annoyance. But now, as an adult working to repattern years of poor posture, I understand the wisdom in her words. So, Mom, you were right. Posture, or more specifically, your postural patterns, influences much more than just how you look. It has profound biological impacts. Like any sense, your posture constantly sends signals to your brain about your environment—or at least your perception of it. These signals shape how your cells respond, influencing everything from movement to mood. Body language experts have long observed how posture reflects emotions like confidence, sadness, or fear. But what's exciting is that posture is not fixed. Patterns that were learned can be unlearned and repatterned. In this week's podcast, I sit down with body posture expert John Friend, a veteran in the field with over 40 years of experience. John introduces us to Bowspring, a body practice designed to align the body with its natural design. Together, we explore how proper posture can transform not just how you carry yourself but how you experience life. Join Heather for a fun conversation about how the Bowspring movement practice of "warping the line" applies and translates into every area of our lives. When we function from linearity, both in our bodies and in our businesses and lives, we diminish our innovative, creative, and adaptive capacities. We weaken ourselves in various ways when we function from linearity, and often don't realize it until way down the road when we find out what we have been unconsciously creating all along. Bodies, people, and companies that are adaptive, flexible, agile, and innovative have an ever increasing capacity to adjust to changing circumstances with great ease. What does your posture communicate to yourself, your baby, and the world? Perhaps it seems unimportant or insignificant, but as you'll learn today-- there is SO much to the way in which we hold ourselves.   This week we're speaking with my incredible friend, coach and mentor Paris Latka. Paris is the founder of her business IAM Health, which stands for Intelligent Alignment Movement Health.  It is her greatest passion to support people feeling fantastic in their bodies, connected to their hearts and clear in their minds. She does this through Bowspring primal movement therapy, myofascia release, holistic nutrition & smart supplementation. She loves to geek out about fascia, postural alignment, and its role in our well-being nutrition, movement and anything that optimizes health.  All of her work is geared towards realizing and increasing the love frequency in our bodies and on the planet.   Paris and I will be speaking about the Bowspring method and how it's changed her life and already begun to transform my own. I pray this information will be of unbelievable use to you and your family, as it has been to mine. Let's jump in!   Episode Roundup:   There's so much more to our posture than just "how we stand". Our posture indicates so much to ourselves and others about-- who we are, what we believe, and how we feel. We can influence our mindset simply by adopting a healthier posture over time. How amazing is that? How we feel in our bodies and in this world is contagious, especially to those with whom we are deeply connected... I.E. our families. Our spouse, our children.... when we begin to expand and open, we really are providing in invitation for those around us to do the same. What would it be like to grow up in a family who is open, expressive and vibrant? Who is rooted and confident in who they are? We can give our children such a gift by being the fullest version of ourselves, both physically and emotionally... and as we've spoken of in previous episodes, this so deeply impacts how these children grow in THEIR bodies. What if we can prevent the collapsing in-- what if we can encourage beautiful broad faces and functional airways and so much more-- simply by encouraging our own expansion? And finally- I want to reiterate what Paris said- this isn't something that we're learning. It's something that we're reconnecting with. Something to rediscover. We're simply turning off the noise around us and connecting with the primal movement that is truly a gift of health from our Creator. This so deeply relates to my approach to preparation for childbirth and motherhood, and it's why I feel the Bowspring is such a beautiful movement pattern to implement as we prepare for, grow, birth and nurture our babies and ourselves. Be sure to check out the show notes and join Paris for her next cohort of movement!   Resources: Paris' Course Code: HAPPYHOMEBIRTH Instagram: @paris_latka   Join The Homebirth Collective Join Happy Homebirth Academy Code PODCAST for 10% off

Throughout the podcast, John offers valuable tips and advice for anyone looking to deepen their yoga practice or become a yoga teacher themselves. To learn more about John Friend and his work, check out his website at https://www.bowspring.com. Enjoy this incredible episode of the Yogalebrity podcast and stay tuned for more exciting conversations in the future! John Friend is an American yoga teacher who was born on February 5, 1959, in Houston, Texas. He is widely known for creating Anusara yoga, a popular style of yoga that emphasizes alignment and the heart-opening qualities of yoga. Friend began his yoga practice in 1970 at the age of 11, when his mother introduced him to yoga. He continued to practice and study yoga throughout his teenage years and into his adulthood, eventually becoming a certified Iyengar yoga teacher in 1984. In 1997, Friend founded Anusara yoga, which quickly gained popularity among yoga practitioners in the United States and around the world. Anusara yoga is known for its emphasis on alignment, its use of heart-opening postures, and its focus on connecting with the divine. Friend continued to teach and promote Anusara yoga throughout the 2000s, leading workshops and teacher trainings around the world. However, in 2012, controversy erupted when allegations of inappropriate conduct by Friend and other senior Anusara teachers were made. In response, Friend resigned from his position as leader of Anusara yoga and took a hiatus from teaching. He returned to teaching in 2016 with a new approach to yoga, which he calls "The Roots" or Bowspring emphasizing the importance of alignment and breath in a more grounded and non-dogmatic way. Today, Friend continues to teach and promote yoga, and has written several books on the practice, including "The Art of Anusara Yoga" and "The Roots." Despite the controversy surrounding his past, Friend remains a highly respected and influential figure in the world of yoga, and his contributions to the practice continue to be felt by students and teachers alike. Her holistic approach in her coaching is reaching out to your Whole being: mindset, body, senses, energy, breath, heart—linking together the yogic wisdom with modern neuroscience. Rewriting her storyMia has had her own journey through anxiety and panic attacks and has witnessed how powerful the work with body and breath is to re-wire thought patterns and destructive habits, and how the mindbody works together to create new Neuropathways that open up infinite possibility. Mia’s vision is to share and co-create this tradition to help raise individual and collective consciousness, and to live a fuller life. How much attention do you give to how you are sitting or standing right? How does your body feel? Are there any niggling areas of pain? Maybe you favour a certain position or stance because it just feels better for some reason. This week on The Mojo Podcast it's about our posture; how we hold ourselves, how we sit, stand and walk. After breathing these are perhaps the most basic, unconscious actions we undertake daily but that can have huge impact on our mojo. My superb guest is Saskia Griffiths - a posture coach - she is fascinated by our ability to accept and live with stress and pain. As she's learned more about the human body and its abilities, she's moved away from this belief and is committed to helping others do the same. It is not natural to live in pain. Saskia talks about how she collected many injuries breaking bones, pulling muscles, training and weightlifting in poor posture creating chronic pains before realizing there could be a way of moving herself out of them. Her mojo journey involved discovering the Bowspring technique which was transforational for her personally and which she know teaches both in person and online. We met at her retreat space Casa del Karma in the north of Ibiza where she works with clients to recognise that 'the issues are in the tissues' and that when you change your posture, you can change your life. This is a fascinating conversation and demonstrates how so much of ourselves and our bodies are connected - pain in one part of the body is often related to something or somewhere quite different. Saskia also offers up some very practical tips for all of us sitting at desk at home right now and how to bring more mojo to your Zoom Room conversation by sitting in a more optimal way. She also gives me the once over, checking and adjusting my posture - which I've been way more conscious about since our conversation. You can find out more about Saskia on Insta @sasgriff Please do remember to leave a 5 star rating and a short review of the podcast on Apple Podcasts - it reallyhelps more people discover the Mojo Podcast. You’ll find it at wedeliverwellbeing.com and I have also put the link in the description as well for you. So don´t miss that. She says: ”When we have a good routine in place, we tick the exercise, self care and a good part of nutrition off the list as the first thing. So we don’t have to think about going to the gym, yoga or trying to squeeze self care during a busy day. Basically it’s simplier and a time saver..” Do you want to join me as a founding member in my new mini course "Add bliss moments"?

Show Notes: https://mindlove.com/009 Ep. 009: What if you there was a method you could practice to never get sick again… and even learn to control your blood pressure, metabolism, and heart rate? Sounds awesome right? Today’s show is all about the Wim Hof Method which uses breathing exercises and exposure to extreme cold to control your Autonomic Nervous System, connect with nature and basically become superhuman. Remember all that stuff about bundling up in the cold to avoid getting sick? Yeah… well all that’s apparently bullsh*t. Today we talk to Elizabeth Lee (Elee) a leading instructor of the Wim Hof Method –a breathing technique that allows you to control the autonomous systems of the body. Elee has an incredible story of surviving a healing from a life shattering accident and breaking dozens of bones in her body leaving her in a state of limited functionality with little hope for recovery. Through alternative healing practices such as The Wim Hof Method and Bowspring, she is in better physical shape than before her accident. So WTF is Wim Hof? Wim Hof, better known as the Iceman, is the holder of 20 Guinness World Records for withstanding extreme temperatures. He has climbed Everest and Kilimanjaro in only shorts and shoes, stayed comfortably in ice baths for hours, and run a full marathon in the highest desert (50 degrees celsius, 122 Fahrenheit) with no water & food. You can make this possible as well because you can reach far more than what you think is possible. As Wim often says: “What I am capable of, anyone can do.” Sign Up for The Morning Mind Love for short daily reminders of how freaking powerful and magical you are, straight to your inbox!
