When I think of a yoga class, I picture calmness in a room that's perhaps dimly lit with an instructor speaking in a soothing voice to provide peace to participants in attendance. But that's not how every yoga class looks, and tranquility aside, a yoga studio is a business just like any other; it must be profitable. Whether budgets, marketing data and profit seem to fit this Zen picture or not, that's business. My guest this week Chelsea Manganaro has successfully tapped into the best parts of herself to become a thriving entrepreneur in Northeast PA with two locations of her Nearme yoga studio, a cafe by the same name, a new rooftop venture and an annual Yoga Festival taking place on June 8 and 9 on Montage Mountain in Moosic, PA. Also: Immer schön entspannt bleiben! Pauline und Ingvar
About the Guest Lucy Crisfield is a speaker at the World Yoga Festival, a plenary speaker at the British Wheel of Yoga Festival, and the founder of ‘Original Wisdom', through which she shares the inner teachings of mantra and yoga philosophy with sound, meditation, and scholarly precision. Lucy has just finished writing a book with the same title as her signature course, ‘The Sounds of Sanskrit ~ The Language of Yoga'. Taking seven years to write, the book is a direct expression of her own experience in response to the meditative inquiry and realizations that the Sanskrit sounds have brought forth. Lucy studied the violin and piano at the Royal College of Music from the age of eleven, and after receiving a first class honours degree in mathematics and Music, she left London to travel solo through twenty countries over five years in her quest for a deeper understanding of life. As well as immersing herself in yoga and finding herself at the feet of many revered teachers of the tradition, she also studied Arabic and the recitation of the Quran in Damascus, Yemen, and East London, and Hebrew at SOAS in London. Many years later, when back in London, Lucy eventually found the master of sound she had been looking for, Peter Harrison, who initiated her into the Advaita Vedanta tradition. Lucy now lives in the South West of England with her partner and two children, where she offers unique classes which share the teachings and sounds of the yoga tradition to illumine the intellect and connect us to the creative wisdom of the Self. In this episode, we discuss: How previous teachers have shaped the understanding of Sanskrit The difference between academic and vibratory approaches to Sanskrit The metaphysics of sound The difference between music and mantra The philosophy of sound in the modern yoga world The potential effects of mispronounced mantras The role of grammar in receiving Sanskrit's vibrational potency See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

How to become a Wisdom SpeakerDas ist die 7. Folge von Liebe, ein Podcast über die Liebe zu Profession, Job, Hobby … you name it. Bedingung? Was ist eigentlich Spiritualität? Was kann der Satz und das damit verbundene Wissen "Once something is broken (in the body), there will stay some brokenness behind, but we are all so flawfull and should celebrate that - we are broken bodies" in uns verändern?

Manish Vyas: India, its Paths, Traditions, Yoga, Music, Mantra, Spirituality
Ram and Sonali Banerjee are originally from India living in England and since the last seven years they have been organising the World Yoga Festival in the outskirts of London, which has been getting more and more local and international response, having become a referent in the true world of Yoga in the west.Initially they started the project just knowing that Europe needed an authentic Yoga Festival presentation, and that's how the first festival happened in the summer of 2016 and subsequent years, having brought thousands of people together along these years in a green field site with beautiful nature right outside London. The festival happens each year in the summer, towards end of July and lasts for four days."The totality of Yoga, that is what we want to bring." RamWhat they envision to bring to the festival is a glimpse of the authentic nature of Yoga, which is not about "stretching and excercising" as often understood in the west; they have taken a vision in the eight limbs of Yoga considering all the aspects, in order to keep the lineage transparent and true. The activities range from asana, pranayam, meditation, yogic techniques, use of sound - until Advait Vedanta and Sanskrit lessons... and much more. They also keep the true flavour of the yogic path from India by serving wonderful Indian and other vegetarian food and keeping the festival away from alchohol. This allows them to create a beautiful energy and atmosphere for any Yoga practitioner, for a seeker, or for anyone interested in the sciences from India for the wellness of the body-mind system. The musical programs are also a way to bring an atmosphere of celebration and joy to the gathering.Manish Vyas will be present also with his band offering a Mantra - Kirtan concert in the evening of July 29, 2022 plus a Naad Yoga Workshop next morning. That is how in this opportunity, Manish is interviewing the founders of this project, to share with the world their incredible vision."In Yoga, you don't have to re-invent a lot - you just have to maintain it, continue it, keep the authenticity and everything will be fine." RamIf you are interested in the path of Yoga, wherever you are in the world and wherever you are in the path, there will be something for that (and the next step beyond) waiting for you at this unique festival.+ Information about the festival Summer-2022: World Yoga Festival |Berkshire |United Kingdom Transcription of the Interview in our BlogYoutube video

Meet Jill! Jill is a dynamic movement specialist with over 16 years experience as a Pilates, Yoga, and Nia instructor. She has built a reputation for being one of the most effective, life-changing, holistic fitness trainers in Hong Kong. Her expertise in one-on-one sessions and group classes has attracted clients from around the world with Jill teaching private and customised classes across Asia as well as leading hundreds of students at Iris, Hong Kong's premium Yoga Festival. Jill is passionate about supporting her clients through ‘life's moments' in pregnancy, menopause, and most importantly, through grief and crisis. In this episode, we talk all about the MENOPAUSE! I've been wanting to talk about menopause on the podcast for ages because I don't feel like it gets enough attention to be honest! I think we are encouraged to dread it and fear it, and I really want this episode to just be a chance to hear someone talking openly about it. The more we talk about things, the more we reduce the stigma! Thanks a lot Jill for your openness and your honesty.

Pam Buckner is a former attorney turned yogi. Five years ago Pam had a desire to deepen her meditation practice. She was led to attend a yoga class. At the time Pam had no idea of the connection between the practice of yoga and meditation. Little did she know that yoga class was the beginning of an amazing journey for two reasons: first leading me to my life’s purpose of serving through the practice of yoga and the yoga lifestyle and two a commitment to share the practice with all communities. Through my journey I have found that people are intimidated by yoga due to their size, age or heritage. Pam created the Soul Long Beach Yoga Festival to show that yoga includes every body. Exploring Personal Development, Zenfully Mariko Hirakawa is an internationally known Yoga expert and founder of Visionary Yoga, a personal development company dedicated to accelerating the growth of motivated individuals and companies through the wisdom of Yoga. She's a teacher of teachers, presenting at Yoga Festivals and conferences around the world. Mariko has had two defining moments. One was when she was a professional ballet dancer at age 19 in NYC, going through a "purpose-crisis". The moment Mariko started to question what the purpose of her spending 8-10 hours in a dance studio was, why she danced, everything started to fall apart. Mariko then realized dance, the one thing she had dedicated herself to, was not her real purpose. From that moment Mariko has been seeking to first realize and live into that dimension for herself on a more constant basis, and second, to spread the message and the EXPERIENCE of the depth dimension of Yoga - the message of Yoga as the doorway to your most expanded, most resourceful state, around the world. The second was when I had been teaching for about 4 years, she started to attract many clients who were terminally ill. One time Mariko was out of town, she received news that one of her clients had passed away. Mariko sought all kinds of healing modalities – shiatsu, energy medicine, Chinese medicine, but when she came across Ayurveda, she knew it was something she needed to pursue deeper. Today, Mariko uses Ayurveda to serve her clients in connecting to their strengths and to use self-knowledge as a tool for healing and growth. Questions you'll hear on the podcast today What is Yoga and how can it help me grow my business? How can it help me become a better leader? How can Yoga help me to be in my Peak Performance state? What are the takeaways from the Inner Teachings of Yoga that I can implement in my work and life? What can I do to create more balance and well-being in my life? A solo show by Marianne. The Big Bear Yoga Festival is such a great example how the action of one person can impact so many lives. Big Bear Yoga is run by two women as a love offering to the community. A few years back, they decided to also offer a yearly Yoga Festival. This year, it was a one-day affair and it was free to the public. Almost 600 people RSVPd. We could leave it here. That many people got to have a full day of yoga free and have the opportunity to be exposed to so many different aspects of Yoga. Here is a link to the webpage http://www.bigbearyogafestival.com/ But the impact went way beyond the fact that many people spend a day together practicing self-care. Many of the participants came from cities several hours drive away and opted to spend one or maybe more rights in Big Bear. Of course eating out and maybe shopping is part of the mini vacation. All bring benefit to the community. Vendors came too. Over 30 different booths had all kinds of interesting offerings. From Vegan food to organic yoga wear. From energy healing to psychic readings. From jewelry to non-profits supporting individuals who want to develop a product for sale. Let's not forget the connections individuals were making. In one of our sessions, a local activist in need of a kitchen connected with a child care provider who has such a kitchen and needed help. A trade made in heaven. Help time was traded for time in the kitchen. Remember the non-profit I mentioned. They are working with all kinds of people who want to bring their cottage industry item to market - and the use of a commercial kitchen is often required. The class we were teaching was on Permaculture. All these connections were like taken from the handbook on Permaculture design. Staking functions! The kitchen provides healthy food to the child-care kids which can be leveraged to get a healthy start grant. It also can provide an extra income by renting it out. And the owner can make a product herself from the yield of the land surrounding the daycare. And there are many more possibilities. I am sure that many more connections were made during that day who will bring about events in the future. All this was possible because two women decided to have a Yoga Festival.
