In today's episode, we're bringing you something truly transformative. Our host, Elisabeth Kristoff, recently joined Kate Northrup on her podcast, Plenty, for a raw and eye-opening conversation that dives deep into the intricate relationship between the nervous system and financial success. The insights were so powerful, we knew we had to share this rich discussion with the Trauma Rewired audience. In this episode, we're breaking down the nervous system like never before. You'll learn how to expand its capacity for abundance, uncover the hidden connections between the nervous system and your money patterns, and discover tangible steps to heal and regulate it. Elisabeth and Kate also open up about their own personal healing journeys, sharing how radically different their lives are today after rewiring their nervous systems. They offer invaluable advice on recognizing and managing anxiety, and—perhaps most importantly—how to identify when your nervous system is out of balance. Understanding the nervous system is foundational to how we show up in the world. It governs everything from our ability to thrive in relationships to how we respond to stress and abundance. If we view our automatic reactions as protective mechanisms that can be rewired, using tools like NSI, we can radically shift our capacity for resilience and long-term fulfillment. This episode will challenge you to rethink how you engage with your nervous system, and how healing it can unlock the life you truly desire. Tune in to hear more about nervous system healing and an exclusive offer for Trauma Rewired listeners that you don't want to miss! In this episode I am joined by Kayla Dawn Morin. Kayla is a mother of 1 and birth keeper holding space for women to heal their wounds so that we can live our true baseline–– peace & pleasure, embodied. She runs an online community with monthly women's circles called Women of Earth, a call for us to remember our true elemental nature, and the incredible power of healing & connection within our selves. Kayla also holds space for wild pregnancy, free birth preparation, birth story processing, and offers closing of the bones ceremonies. She says, "my work is Metabolizing Mother, on all levels," and she loves to host a good alchemizing rage dance party. She is a sky box city dweller and water element. Find her on Instagram @womenofearth_ and on her website at womenofearthbirth.com In this conversation Kayla speaks to her transformation from the maiden tending to postpartum to the embodiment of mother and how that has shifted her understanding of this work, sacred discernment in what we want to ingest and metabolize in this immediate threshold, postpartum as a holy invitation to deeper healing at a cellular level and anchoring our intentions, and the wisdom available to us as we tune into the true needs of our unique motherbaby nervous system beyond our ideals.Connect with me and my work:@wyldbirth on Instagramwyldbirth@gmail.comBook a 1:1 mentoring session with meSubmit your physiological postpartum storyThe Nourished Postpartum SummitCover art photo photographer: @_mgphotographs and muse: @nurturedwombs
In this second part of my interview with Kimothy Joy, author of “Extraordinary Wing Women: True Stories of Life-Altering, World-Changing Sisterhood,” “Focus Pocus: A 90-Day Guided Journal,” and “That's What She Said: Wise Words from Influential Women,” I asked about the mindset side of writing and how Kimothy's thoughts and beliefs impact her work and her life. (By the way, if you are ever needing a hit of inspiration, either from others or from within, I can't recommend these books highly enough. They're not only helpful and inspiring and informative, but they're also beautiful because they're filled with Kimothy's illustrations.) We talked about: - Finding the right balance of working to promote your work and detaching from outcomes and not burning yourself out - The difference between promoting your work and sharing your work and finding a way to do it without feeling like you're being pushy - Using your Instagram stories like a blog - How publishing a book is like having a child leave the nest - Using journaling and self-mothering as a way to understand and get past the inner critic - Repatterning beliefs that have come in through society and culture - The two major doubts she repeatedly has - Talking yourself like a loving mother would talk to you–or like Glinda the good witch - Getting past the expectation that you should be able to do all the things and have all the things all the time - Unraveling the beliefs that, as a woman, it's your job to make sure everyone else is cared for and comfortable, and that the world isn't as safe for you as it is for men Visit Kimothy at kimothyjoy.com. There is so much power in words and within our minds that we often overlook the core concepts that drive the change we desire to see in ourselves. To be able to tap into this power and these dynamics, we have to understand the masculine and feminine parts of our minds, and how they feed each other. The conscious and subconscious minds reflect the masculine and feminine parts of ourselves. The feminine is your subconscious mind, and the masculine is your conscious mind. The subconscious mind is influenced by the actions of the conscious mind. When we seek to change our perfectionistic or all-or-nothing mindset tendencies, we have to remember that action will always be the last step. We have to begin with changing our words, thoughts, and energy. These are the predecessors to any action you can take because action is the fruit of these changes. Join me today to learn more about the polarity of our minds and how we can leverage it to step into our true purpose. I know you're going to love this, and I can't wait to share it with you.In this episode:[00:00:46] Welcome back to The Fully Nourished Podcast! There is a common theme that I see not only in the health and wellness space but all over the world, where women are striving for the moving goalposts of perfection. So many of us are trapped in the all or nothing mindset of perfection that we are missing the beauty of the gradients in our lives. When we are trapped in a perfectionist - or an all-or-nothing - mindset, it is a key indicator that we are facing some sort of dysregulation in our nervous systems. This is causing a constant survival state and forcing us to choose between black and white without seeing the nuance of everything that lies in the middle. What is truly at the root of our perfectionistic tendencies, and why do we have these beliefs about perfectionism? Where did they come from? You must make peace with the shadow parts of yourself to master your internal universe, your thoughts, and your mind. When we address these parts of ourselves, we are uncovering a need that we have suppressed in the name of perfectionism, and we are opening the doors for change. These needs and these changes are not battles or wars. Confrontation is a very masculine trait, and if you are trying to exert your will or even exercise a certain level of discipline, you will face an energy leakage at the rigidity of the energy you are forcing on yourself. It is not natural for the feminine. Tune in today and be sure to come back next week for Part 2, where we dive deeper into how we can change our behaviors and our habits to break out of the polarity of mind and move away from the all-or-nothing mindset! In this episode:[00:00:46] Welcome back to The Fully Nourished Podcast![00:02:05] How understanding the polarity of the mind can help us redefine perfectionism. [00:05:20] The all-or-nothing mindset and where it shows up in our lives.[00:10:36] Black-and-white thinking is a sign of being in a low-energy state. [00:17:08] What is at the root of our perfectionistic tendencies? [00:28:29] People pleasing is holding someone else's view of success as your own, and it will not fulfill you. [00:33:50] How the all-or-nothing mindset puts you in a constant state of fight or flight.[00:37:25] Becoming aware of the problem of perfectionism is the first step to making peace with the shadow parts of ourselves.[00:45:07] Change is not a battle or a war.[00:52:05] Tapping into our imagination to define what the vision is for ourselves.[01:00:25] Thanks for joining me in the Fully Nourished Podcast today!Links and Resources:Submit a Question Here: https://airtable.com/appoicByQy3UFoSXs/shrXwD7wQFJQr68NnDiscount Codes from Our Sponsors:Earthrunners: https://earthrunners.com/?rfsn=5275875.e3ea40*Code: Nourished for 10% off *This is an affiliate link. The term social anxiety gets tossed around a lot these days, however individuals with CPTS who experience social anxiety feel its effects on a visceral level. It can be highly debilitating and can affect the way we relate and connect to others, when the need for connection is at the very core of what makes us human. Knowing if you actually have social anxiety can be tricky, especially if there are socially acceptable coping mechanisms like overconsumption of substances involved. The proof is in the nervous system outputs, such as migraines, pain, exhaustion, or binge eating, after every social event. As well as, if these outputs cause you to refrain from being in social settings all together. At these times, it's important to reflect on whether you're genuinely comfortable in social situations or if social anxiety may be at play. In today's episode, Elisabeth and Jennifer explore the world of social anxiety, specifically what signs in your nervous system to look out for if you suspect you have social anxiety, the difference between social anxiety and being socially awkward, the role substance use plays, how your attachment style can indicate your level of social anxiety, and how to repattern the nervous system using NSI tools to overcome social anxiety, and much more. As humans, we need to connect to others, and we need relationships to thrive. Social anxiety can impede these very human needs, however there is a way around it. It is possible to change how your nervous system takes in information, and change the way it reacts to that information, using simple tools to rewire and regulate. Tune in to hear how and more! Topics discussed in this episode: What is social anxiety? The nervous system outputs associated with social anxiety Substance use and social anxiety How the inner critic and toxic shame shows up in social anxiety What is hypervigilance? Are you constantly feeling high-strung and like there's never enough time to do anything? Or perhaps you're the opposite and feel totally paralyzed and have absolutely no energy or motivation to do anything at all? The good news is that you are not crazy OR lazy…you've become dysregulated. Andrea Freemyer, a neuroscientist, trauma informed breathwork facilitator, and embodiment guide came onto the pod to talk about all things nervous system and offer her personal story and insights to help us better understand what is happening within the body when we become overwhelmed and distressed in our daily lives. We specifically dive into the captivating realms of the sympathetic and dorsal vagus states, which we mostly identify as ‘anxiety' and ‘depression.' Within these states, the logical faculties of our brains can falter, leaving us tethered solely to the emotional and fear-based aspects of our being. Understanding this connection becomes an indispensable tool for navigating our mental and emotional landscapes, paving the way towards greater well-being. Episode Highlights:[00:00:25] Using breathwork to gain perspective and clarity in life[00:00:25] Personal experiences of feeling a loss of joy and resistance to encouragement[00:17:07] The fight or flight response and how we've been socialized to identify with it[00:27:14] Navigating personal crises[00:31:49] Repatterning the Mind and Embracing Rest[00:35:19] Understanding the amount of time & compassion required for re-patterningQuotes to ponder:"When we are in a state where the logical part of the brain is offline, our thoughts can become dark and colored by the lenses of that state."Learn more about Andrea:Website: https://www.elementalwellnesssanctuary.com/retreatsInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/andreafreemyer.phd/—Get 6 FREE weeks of the Superhuman app with our code ‘SPIRALINGHIGHER':https://www.superhuman.app/register—Join our FREE community :https://tinyurl.com/SpiralinghighercommunityClear your money blocks & learn how to tap into true ABUNDANCE to become a money master: https://simplifyingsam.mykajabi.com/abundance-money-workshop-replay Apply for 1:1 coaching with Sam:https://www.simplifyingsam.com/1on1coachingJoin Gina's waitlist for coaching:https://tinyurl.com/btewaitlistFollow Spiraling Higher:Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/spiralinghigherFollow Simplifying Sam:Tiktok - https://www.tiktok.com/@simplifying.samInstagram - https://www.instagram.com/simplifying.samFollow Gina:Tiktok - https://www.tiktok.com/@bournetoelevateInstagram - https://www.instagram.com/bournetoelevateFor all inquiries, email us at:Spiralinghigher@gmail.comAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brands

The Return to Embodiment: consciousness, culture, creativity and flourishing
In this conversation, I am speaking with Lauren Elise Peterson, a dance therapist and body image coach who uses beginner friendly dance to help people feel confident in their own skin. She combats the messages that emphasize the need to change the body: to tighten, to diminish, to take up less space, to be more like the virtual avatars we are often bombarded by in our social media. Instead, she invites folks to inhabit the body with a focus on what feels interesting, pleasureful or curious. She offers gentle, easily modified movements that build a vocabulary for movement in the body that helps to build an appetite for movement as play, thereby transforming the possibilities found moving and relating. www.laurenelisepeterson.com. instagram: laurenelisepeterson

In today's episode, we travel back to the womb and invite the developing embryo to rest into the security of the sacred womb space and receive the nourishment and provision that is transferred through the umbilical cord - on the physiological and spiritual levels. The question of “Enoughness” - will there ever be enough, will I ever have enough, am I enough? Enough money, enough food, enough love, enough work. Can I do enough to earn enough to have enough to be secure? This is a stream of consciousness that plagues our societies. It flavors the soup we have been marinating in for most of our lives. Yet the nourishment is available, the sustenance is available, the provision is available. Where does our sense of nourishment begin? Where does our relationship to enoughness and security begin to develop? Today we are traveling way back to the embryonic stage to connect with the nourishment that is available in utero on the physiological and spiritual levels. In today's Meditation & Healing Circle, we'll go on a journey to focus on the security of sustenance that we receive in the womb. Even if your actual experience was “not enough”, this meditation will invite your developing nervous system and somatic memory to receive and rest into a sense of safety and nourishment that your being seeks. Listen to this episode for this nurturing healing experience. You're invited to join us LIVE for The Meditation & Healing Circle - every Sunday at 10am US ET / 7am US PT. When you join live, you can stay on after the recorded meditation for Q&A, support and discussion. http://CommunityforConsciousLiving.com

If you've been through that kind of trauma, of course, it's normal to be that confused. I mean, normal is in quotes, right? What isn't anything out there that normal, but yet if you've been through all that kind of drama is massive. This week I sit down with Author, Thought Leader, International Speaker and Coach Adele Spraggon to discuss her book "Shift: 4 Steps to Personal Empowerment." Adele opens up about her own internal struggle of starting and stopping projects and jobs, recalling how frustrated she was knowing she was not reaching her full potential. She set out to create a proprietary 4 step system called The Repatterning Technique that helps remove old patterns that lead to procrastination, avoidance, quitting, and feeling stuck. Adele breaks down for the audience why our brains create patterns in the first place and to create new patterns--we need to let go of what we know. Processing trauma is a crucial component of healing, but it is not the end of the healing journey. As therapist Ailey Jolie shares in this episode, true restoration also involves reprogramming, or coming back into joy, love, and understanding. In this in-depth and vulnerable discussion, Ailey and Paul discuss the ability to hold paradoxical truths, how that supports the healing process, and the importance of advocating for the wellness of all people.

From 1953 to 1973, the CIA sanctioned illegal experiments in an effort to create a "truth serum." Countless people were subjected to attempted brainwashing, psychological torture, and of course, unknowingly dosed with LSD. Project MKUltra led to a Senate hearing that resulted in the destruction of almost all of the documents relating to the experiments. What happened between those 20 years is largely still unknown, and we may never find out.Like our facebook page: www.facebook.com/allsick.podcastFollow us on instagram: @allsick.podcastFollow Felecia on instagram/tiktok/twitter: @heyxfeleciaFollow Cassie on instagram: @cassandranhernandezResearch Credits:https://www.history.com/mkultra-operation-midnight-climax-cia-lsd-experimentshttps://www.washingtonpost.com/archive/lifestyle/1985/07/28/25-years-of-nightmares/cb836420-9c72-4d3c-ae60-70a8f13c4ceb/
When I started learning about habits and repatterning, it really helped me empathize with horses and how it can sometimes be hard for them to create new habits. Knowing how habits are created through neural pathways has given me a lot of respect for horses and how fast they learn. In this episode, I talk about repatterning our thoughts and creating new neural pathways for better habits. I'm always blown away by how simple changes to posture; how tangibly connecting with where feeling and sensation sits in the body in relation to a specific thought; how accessing experience through the body can allow us to not only shift our perception but integrate and metabolize experiences from the past that are showing up as challenges in the present. It's one thing to see this play out in real life and another to understand the mechanisms and systems at work that explains why working at the level of the body is so powerful. Why is it that shifting things in the body changes our thoughts? How does it work that we can make sense of traumatic or stressful events through body-based practices? The answer lies in understanding the nature of memory and also the function of the somatic, interoceptive, and proprioceptive nervous systems, and how they work together to create templates of our experience. In this episode we discuss: Explicit and implicit memory; the basic differences between the two and how understanding their functions and role helps us integrate traumatic stress and change any unwanted patterns and behaviors The somatic, interoceptive and proprioceptive nervous systems; their role and function in memory and why it's necessary to begin at the level of the body for us to make sense of past experiences making themselves known in the present How our nervous system functions as an integrated whole, with body informing mind and mind informing body Happy listening! ❤️ Jane
Elizabeth Jacobowitz is fascinated with the mind-body connection and the awakening of self that happens through the arts and bodywork. She facilitates change and transformation by guiding her clients in remembering, reconnecting, and rediscovering their body, mind, and soul. In this episode she dives into a particular modality called Sensory Repatterning, which increases circulation, flexibility, and ease and also can stimulate creativity and increase clarity. After receiving this work, clients commonly report a meditative state and a deep sense of peace. Body awareness is greatly enhanced and tense muscles are soothed. And, because Sensory Repatterning also strongly affects the nervous system, it can address chronic tensions (patterns) in a profound way that conventional massage cannot. http://www.embodimentarts.com/ https://youtu.be/S2psjhLf_tA (Click here to watch us on YouTube!)
