I had the sheer joy & opportunity to sit down with actress and comedian, Tammy Tavares. We discussed her journey from a trailer park in Mishawaka, Indiana to Beverly Hills adjacent, including her colorful resume of strip clubs, sugar daddies and an unrealized career in hairdressing, which ultimately landed her in a stable marriage and later become the foundation for her comedy.Tammy's chaotic childhood made her well-prepared for a career in Hollywood. In addition to the 12 years she played Dr. Karen Bader on Days of Our Lives, Tammy has appeared on Two and a Half Men, Drop Dead Diva, Las Vegas, N.Y.P.D. Blue and General Hospital. Her film roles include Mike Nichols' What Planet Are You From?; Beautiful Girl with Brendan Sexton III and Fuel, which won the Grand Jury Award at the Lisbon International Film Festival and Best Experimental Film in Mexico City International Film Festival in 2007.After 20 years playing roles ranging from Doctors to Dominatrix, the stories of Tammy's white trash family roots told on the crisp, clean wool carpets of her Los Angeles condo were enough to push her to the stages of local open mics. Since then, Tammy has quenched her artistic thirst through tales of teenage parents, spending a year as a stripper hooked on Vicodin, and the toughest of all, being a wife.Tammy resides in 9021-almost with her handsome, Germanic husband, Mark and their two cream-colored chow chows Mr. Eazy & Zoey. Not all girls want to play with dolls. It's been 27 years since Todd Solondz's Welcome to the Dollhouse, and we're here to tell you that it's still savage AF. Seth Subin from @jerkofalltrades joins us again to discuss this  pitch black coming-of- age comedy, and we really just want to give Dawn Wiener a hug and tell her it's all going to be alright.  We get into the 90s icon that is Heather Matarazzo as the ultimate outsider in us all.  Dawn launched her to bigger movies like 54, Princess Diaries, and Saved.  Matarazzo's Dawn Wiener is just as potent now as it was when we first got our hands on a copy of this movie. We talk about Brendan Sexton III, as the type of damaged bully we all remember growing up, and the beautiful himbo Steve Rogers (played by Eric Mabius). This movie is essential 90s cinema, and we're not entirely sure if a movie like it could be made today. Every movie needs a second chance...On this episode we go back to a film which is releasing it's director's cut on VOD platforms tomorrow.  Be sure and be open to a 'Welcome To Happiness'.Woody (Kyle Gallner), a children's author, rents a strange apartment from his landlord, Moses (Nick Offerman). There's a magical door in Woody's closet that allows those who go through it to erase mistakes from their past. While he was once happy to facilitate the passage of the random strangers summoned to his apartment, Woody soon begins to question why he himself is not allowed to go through, finding himself on a downward spiral of jealousy, anger, and resentment that threatens his relationship with his girlfriend, Trudy (Olivia Thirlby) and his literary agent (Paget Brewster).Full disclosure...back in 2016, this movie got panned...and I mean badly, but as we're in the back half of a depressing global pandemic this films time just might be now. We got the distinct pleasure to sit down with writer/director Oliver Thompson and star Brendan Sexton III to talk about the making of...and now legacy of the film which is quite honestly a little ray of sunshine in our otherwise moderately depressing media landscape.

Happiness, joy, and a bit of whimsy take over BEHIND THE LENS today as we look at two very special films with some very special filmmakers – CRYPTOZOO and our exclusive interview with DASH SHAW and JANE SAMBORSKI, and WELCOME TO HAPPINESS with writer/director/composer OLIVER THOMPSON. First up, is my exclusive interview with writer/director DASH SHAW and animation director JANE SAMBORSKI, the incredible team behind the breathtaking, allegorical, kaleidoscopic, psychedelic, animated delight – CRYPTOZOO. A fantastical tale that follows cryptozookeepers through a richly-drawn hallucinatory world as they seek out the mythical Baku, a dream-eating hybrid creature that looks much like a pig and baby elephant swirling in bubbles, CRYPTOZOO raises thought-provoking discussion as the keepers/conservationists begin to wonder if they should display wondrous creatures like the Baku in a zoo or hide them and keep them safe from harm. With the military also seeking out the Baku for nefarious purposes, while wanting to kill all of the "cryptids", lines are drawn between utopia and counter-culture idealism versus pragmatism leaving it up to each individual to choose their own path. With voice talents of Lake Bell, Zoe Kazan, Michael Cera, Louisa Krause, Peter Stormare, Thomas Jay Ryan, Grace Zabriskie and Angeliki Papoulia, Shaw's story and Samborski's animation soar with creativity, imagination, and entertainment. Then a big welcome to writer/director/composer OLIVER THOMPSON who joins us live talking about his film WELCOME TO HAPPINESS. Already on the "Happiness" bandwagon since its 2015 festival run and subsequent 2016 release, I'm excited to see WELCOME TO HAPPINESS now deliver a Director's Cut aka Special Edition of this magical enchantment. Boasting the talents of Kyle Gallner, Nick Offerman, Molly C. Quinn, Olivia Thirlby, Frances Conroy, Paget Brewster, Michael Keegan-Key, Robert Pike Daniel, Josh Brenner, Brendan Sexton III, WELCOME TO HAPPINESS is a tale of redemption and second chances and finding happiness if you are one of "the chosen" to enter a world only accessible through a magic door inside a closet in the apartment of a young writer named Woody. But if you are chosen to go through that door, the question becomes "do I erase the past and start anew or hold on to what I already have?". Take a listen as Oliver and I go down memory lane with the origin of the story and the "making of", including cinematography, production design, casting, the editing process, scoring and lyric soundtrack, while taking a look at the changes with the "Special Edition" version, including some added scenes, editing out about 15 minutes from the original film, and with 20/20 hindsight in today's post-lockdown pandemic world, is WELCOME TO HAPPINESS now a film for this time. http://eliasentertainmentnetwork.com

Director Todd Solondz made waves in 1995 with the debut of his independent film Welcome to the Dollhouse which is set in a world all too familiar world (the suburbs) but from a perspective never before explored– from the eyes of a dorky lonely tween girl named Dawn Weiner. Bullied for being ugly and  desperate for the attention of a hot high school musician, Dawn's world is sad, funny, and feels true to life– making the film a realistic exploration of the sexuality and alienation that awaits everyone on the other side of puberty. A precursor to the mumble-cringe at-school indie genre that spurred titles like Napoleon Dynamite and Ghost World, the film also serves as indisputable inspiration for more modern works including Eighth Grade and PEN15. The hosts discuss middle school, rape jokes, and Dawn's trendsetting style.  If you can't find the film at your local video store (support physical media!), its available to stream through Amazon Video or Vudu.    Follow The Shiterion Collection!    Instagram: @ShiterionCollection    Twitter: @Shiterion_Pod    Facebook: facebook.com/theshiterioncollection    Email us [at]  theshiterioncollection@gmail.com.    Kate Santos is online [at] @ocleoo on Instagram and @cryinginmoscow on Twitter.   Stevie Anderson is rolling as @spaghetti_witch on IG and @spaghetti_witch on Twitter. Today's Guest: Ryan Barton-Grimley, indie film director, The Truth There are essentially nine speaking parts in Ryan Barton-Grimley’s new indie film, The Truth. And two of those parts are in one scene--a couple of actors playing cops who are virtually superfluous to the story--so let’s say seven. Ryan Barton-Grimley, director of The Truth Order The Truth starring John Heard, available by clicking on the DVD cover above! RYAN BARTON-GRIMLEY podcast excerpt: "John Heard -- talk about a saint! We had somebody else, a very notorious actor, notoriously troublesome, cast in that role. He dropped out two days before filming. John Heard came onto our three-week shoot a week in. He saved the day. He's amazing." This is the kind of movie I think Hollywood could learn from in this age of tight budgets and stories that wind out of control. Barton-Grimley tells a taut, suspenseful tale that really leaves the viewer in fear of what revelation—or truth—is coming next. And even when we know, we still don’t know. I heard about The Truth, which stars John Heard, Daniel Baldwin, Erin Cardillo and Brendan Sexton III, because illegal copies of it are flooding the Internet. It’s obviously been the subject of a lot of buzz and curiosity. Cool, huh?
