Recently, on an episode of the Netflix show Everybody's Live with John Mulaney, the subject turned to bike lanes. Or rather, the subject was turned to bike lanes by Natasha Lyonne. The actress, writer, director and producer said that bike lanes should be “shut down” and claimed that there is no space for them in Manhattan. Journalist Alissa Walker of Torched was on Everybody's Live as a “public transit expert” to talk about Uber, but soon found herself — as a public-transit-riding Los Angeles resident — defending bike lanes and explaining the rational apportionment of urban space to some pretty famous New Yorkers, all of them brilliant and talented. So why is it that otherwise intelligent people often say unintelligent things about bikes? Why do nearly all conversations about transportation, even one that's not about bicycles, devolve into NIMBY-style complaints about cyclists? What can advocates learn from a conversation that, if you strip away the big stars and the studio audience, was indistinguishable from a community board meeting? ***Our new book, Life After Cars: Freeing Ourselves from the Tyranny of the Automobile, will be published on October 21, 2025 by Thesis, an imprint of Penguin Random House. Few contemporary actors better represent the bravado and edginess of New York City natives than Natasha Lyonne. Over a four-decade career that began with a role on Pee-wee’s Playhouse, Lyonne has become known for portraying characters that are gruff but likable, hard-nosed but sympathetic. She’s exhibited these traits in films ranging from Everyone Says I Love You to American Pie; but her brashness truly hit the mainstream in 2013, upon the release of Netflix’s Orange Is The New Black. That show kicked off a run on television that has found her as the creator and star of recent hits such as Russian Doll and Poker Face, the latter of which just released its much-anticipated second season. On this week’s episode of Table for Two, the actress joins host Bruce Bozzi to discuss New Yorkers’ street smarts, why she loves Richard Pryor’s Jo Jo Dancer, Your Life Is Calling, and the genius of Maya Rudolph.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
LinkedIn's editor-in-chief Dan Roth provides insights on how to kickstart your career – where the jobs are and how to get your foot in the door. Also, Natasha Lyonne stops by to catch up and talk about season 2 of her show ‘Poker Face.' Plus, NewBeauty senior editor Sarah Eggenberger shares a Mother's Day gift guide for the best beauty products.
If you know anything about Natasha Lyonne’s character in Orange Is the New Black—let alone her rollicking roles in Russian Doll and Poker Face—you know that she’s an expert at using colorful language to dramatic effect. But off-screen, what is her go-to curse word? On this week’s bonus episode of Table for Two, the actress joins host Bruce Bozzi and discusses the performer she most wants to work with but hasn’t, the first thing she notices in a man, and the best advice she’s been given. This week we're excited to present a conversation with His Three Daughters director Azazel Jacobs and cast members Natasha Lyonne, Elizabeth Olsen, and Carrie Coon during a special advance screening at FLC. His Three Daughters is now streaming on Netflix. From writer-director Azazel Jacobs comes this bittersweet and often funny story of an elderly patriarch and the three grown daughters who come to be with him in his final days. Katie (Carrie Coon) is a controlling Brooklyn mother dealing with a wayward teenage daughter; free-spirited Christina (Elizabeth Olsen) is a different kind of mom, separated from her offspring for the first time; and Rachel (Natasha Lyonne) is a sports-betting stoner who has never left her father's apartment—much to the chagrin of her half-sisters, who share a different mother and worldview. Continuing his astute exploration of family dynamics in close-knit spaces, Jacobs follows the siblings over the course of three volatile days, as death looms, grievances erupt, and love seeps through the cracks of a fractured home. This conversation was moderated by filmmaker Tamara Jenkins.
This week's episode of the Empire Podcast comes with an air of carefree celebration, as Chris Hewitt marks his birthday by a) not mentioning his birthday that much, b) interviewing Willa Fitzgerald, star of cracking new thriller Strange Darling, while somehow not actually talking about the movie because it's incredibly hard to talk about without getting into spoiler territory, [23:05 - 40:27 approx] and c) interviewing the powerhouse trio who star in new movie His Three Daughters, Carrie Coon, Elizabeth Olsen and Natasha Lyonne. [1:01:45 - 1:14:52 approx] Then Chris is joined in the podbooth by Helen O'Hara and James Dyer to discuss the best movie witches, tackle the week's movie news, including David Schwimmer's revelation that he turned down Will Smith's role in Men In Black, and review His Three Daughters, Strange Darling, and The Substance. Oh, and Helen reveals a shocking old nickname, while Chris doesn't mention his birthday at all. Enjoy.
The His Three Daughters star has been thinking about a lot lately — her volatile past, her industry's perilous state, loneliness, and hitting the red carpet with “one of those metal faces and a little beady red eye.” All that on top Oscar buzz, her new Hollywood chapter, and wanting a “third boob.” Allow her to connect the dots. Plus, a new segment called Proust Questionnaire Roulette.

Talking about all things monster cocks, stretching, toys, and more...
Harry Nilsson was a man in a hurry. There's no time, people! Life is happening now, and if you don't act fast and grab it, you'll be outta luck. Dead at 52, the former Wunderkind, one of Rock's most innovative song stylists, exited this earthly realm, having burned out his candle from both ends - in terms of life, work, and alcohol consumption - but, thankfully, he left behind a clutch of living monuments to his originality. This song started life as a B-side to the magisterial Without You, whose soaring vocal allegedly caused Harry to burst a hemorrhoid. He never did anything half-way. And, almost 40 years later, it re-emerged as the musical fulcrum for Natasha Lyonne's zany existential Netflix series Russian Doll, causing a reported 3,300 percent jump in Spotify streams. It seems you can't keep a good song down, and every time Lyonne's character re-awakens, Harry's ear worm reanimates, winding her back up - a bobbing apple in the enigmatic tub of time. So, you got something to do? Do it now; don't hesitate! Make that phone call; say what you need to say. Tempus Fugit!

⚛️⚛️⚛️ Paul and Stephen read a letter from Keith, an airline pilot in Idaho who shares his incredible UFO sighting and belief in Interdimensional Sasquatch Travel. Then.... Natasha Lyonne joins, and that's when things get weird and quantum-physical. Listen in as Paul and Stephen follow Natasha around her house, feed Rootbeer the dog, and learn why she's comforted by the dulcet sound of quantum physics audio books at bedtime. Hear why discipline and restraint and the structure of mathematics is grounding and leads to talk of Stanley Kubrick's A Clockwork Orange, Barry Lyndon, and Peter Sellers. Paul quotes French writer Gustave Flaubert and kills the vibe, and this is before he reveals his desire to try cat food. Natasha's man of choice is a doomsday prepper and there's a crisis in American masculinity (ask yourself men, can you fix a toilet?). Next they go deep into body horror films, and Natasha goes down a Google search rabbit hole about the movie Slither (not a Cronenberg picture). Existentialism is definitively defined (thanks Stephen!), Russian Doll is unpacked, along with Kierkegaard, Ted Chiang, and Albert Camus. That's a LOT - thanks Natasha! In this 4th and final episode of a four-episode Hanukkah mini-series, Apocry-Fest: Hanukkah Unbound & Un-Canonized...When we talk about Apocrypha, people tend to presume that we are focused on ancient books. Texts that were written a couple thousand years ago, but which did not make it into the Jewish Biblical canon. That's…true, usually, even in our Apocry-Fest initiative! But we also are interested in diving into what “apocrypha” might mean for texts (and art) created in the 21st century in beyond. To conclude, Apocry-Fest, we consider that question. You can sign up for Apocry-Fest by heading to www.JudaismUnbound.com/apocryfest. De serie is gemaakt door Rian Johnson die we kennen van Knives Out. Ook hier draait de boel weer om een moord, maar wel op een hele andere manier.
