Chris Quintana [Original airdate: 9/8/23] Chris Quintana of Old Path Ministries, Mary Danielsen and Crash Connell along with Dove award winning musician Bruce Carroll discuss disaster overload. Anyone who thinks the world will normalize is not thinking realistically, and yet people very much want to go back to some "restore point" and make it all go away. But is God trying to tell us something in the mayhem? More than likely. And that "something" is that the "end of all things is at hand" according to Peter. But that hope that God gives is designed to warn the ungodly and have a purifying effect on us if we are serving Him, watching and waiting. Traveling hopefully is certainly realistic, for the believer. Watch Stand Up For The Truth on YouTube ! Bruce Carroll ICYMI: Podcast host David Fiorazo resigned from Q90FM after 18 years of service. One of my favorite artists to tour with in the 90's was Bruce Carroll. He wasn't the typical CCM artist, with his folk/country roots and vivid story-telling, and he was always a blast to be around! I caught up with Bruce and asked him to share his story of turning from drugs to Jesus, to his wife calling out his musical gift, to carving out his unique legacy in Christian music.Check out my Spotify Playlist!Support the showandychrisman.com

Like most of our conversations, today's guest got started in music as a child, singing with his family. From these humble beginnings, he went on to sell 2.5 million records and garnered 11 number-one songs. Two Grammy Awards and 7 Dove Awards point to the fact that Bruce Carroll is a talented musician. But what draws me most to Bruce is his heart and passion for Jesus. And I'm looking forward to sharing the story about how a decision to trust God changed his life. Now, Bruce has a passion for seeing the church get back to God's word and the importance of learning how we can introduce people to Jesus. Bruce Carroll: Website, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. These brothers call themselves “Music City Fathers” and get together for a little friendship, a little encouragement, a lot of memories, and some really great music. The retreat is this week and some of the Music City Fathers are going to join us.   We expect to have several Jesus Music legends with us including John Fischer, Scott Wesley Brown, Bob Bennett, and Bruce Carroll.

And I hate that feeling: a stack of checks to write and a list of people and places I owe. It’s just always on my mind, lingering in the back row like somebody murmuring behind you at the movies. When I stopped drinking my conscious woke up and I start hearing the voices of remorse. And then there was that one time when I was in high school that I stole a whole bunch of books from the public library. It was way back when shoplifting was easy. Go in with a nearly empty backpack, load it up with Hobbit adventures, and walk out. Just be careful and it was really that easy. I didn’t feel any guilt at the time because for whatever reason in my head, the world owed me. And then some time later when writing my 8th Step list my sponsor and I came up with a dollar amount that I owed them based on how many books I stole. That particular public library was in a different state so I wrote them a check and stuffed it in an envelope along with a letter saying, “I stole some books from you guys several years ago and here’s a check that I hope is compensation.” Or something like that. It was short and sweet because the best amends are. If I get wordy I tend to want to justify, and my goal was to “pay the money back.” In the days after mailing the letter I was kind of nervous because I didn’t know if I'd have charges pressed against me or I’d go to jail or whatever. When I put myself out into the unknown I never know what’s going to happen. My mind goes to all kinds of silly places and because I’m me, I assumed jail was in my future for most of my amends. But I never heard back from the library folk. They just cashed the check a couple of weeks later. And I got on with my life. Another bill off the list and another mess cleaned up. And that’s how I made all of my amends. As I could, when I was able. Wrote the checks. Paid the debts. One by one. There’s no pillow as soft as a clear conscience. When I go to sleep now, if anything, I can always be grateful for not having amends to make that I know of. I’ve settled my books as best I can. And it feels good being able to walk into that library now with a clear conscience. That I have nothing to feel bad about. That I’m putting my best self out there instead of being a selfish jerk, helping myself to whatever I want. When I was drinking I hurt a lot of people and did a lot of bad things. If you’re alcoholic or know one, you know how it goes. I wasn’t unique in the things I did, just par for the alcoholic course. And it’s no wonder I drank the way that I did based on all the wrongdoings I had done. All the garbage I had piled on top of my soul. I hated looking at myself in the mirror when I was brushing my teeth. Couldn’t stand looking at the face staring back at me. That caused all that pain. Standing in front of the sink was my least favorite place to be. After making my amends I was finally set free from that burden, finally set free from my past. Fully able to live in the present. I don’t know if you’ve ever been to jail but being released, walking out the door, feeling the fresh air all around, knowing last night is behind you… Well, that’s what making amends is like. It’s a fresh start and a new day ahead. No police, no handcuffs, no fear, and no looking back. Sentence served and restitutions made. And now when I look in the mirror I generally only see these long eyebrows that I should pluck. #alcoholism #twelvesteps #diariespodcast #diariesvideo threecrates · Sep 9, 2020 at 10:35 pm Never have I felt that it sounds as if you were giving a speech. This was a very interesting episode to record. My first segment features two very good, long time friends in the center-right blogging world, while my second segment featured a speaker coming to Oregon to challenge our faith in Big Pharma. I’ve had some compelling conversations while recording this podcast, but this episode ranks as one of the most challenging. Segment One features a conversation with Bruce Carroll and Michelle Ray. I’ve known both for a decade, and count them among my closest friends in the conservatarian movement. They are both heavy users of Twitter, with massive followings. Well, they used to have massive followings, until they were deplatformed for no reason. We talk about their individual circumstances, the lack of consistency in terms of service among social media companies, and the larger picture of what social media has done to civic discourse. Michelle used to be known on Twitter as @galtsgirl, but now she’s @RagnarsMate. Bruce used to be @GayPatriot, but now he’s @AmericanHomoCon. Segment Two is a different kind of conversation. Brandy Vaughan is a former employee of Merck who has become a whistleblower fighting Big Pharma. Brandy challenges many widely held assumptions about vaccines, and pharmaceuticals in general. She founded the non-profit Learn the Risk to alert the public to things they probably don’t know about vaccines. She was in Portland lastweek to speak at an event organized by Oregonians for Medical Freedom. Like I said, this was a challenging conversation on a number of levels. Stick around to the very end so you can hear the full version of I Am America, the theme song, by my buddy Brian Futch. Hey! Did you know I wrote a book? It’s called Behind the Curtain: Inside the Network of Progressive Billionaires and their Campaign to Undermine Democracy. It’s an examination of the dark money on the left that continues to fuel the worst of the swamp creatures in Washington DC. There’s a real appetite out there for folks to learn about who’s pulling the strings on the left, and what their ultimate goals are. I’ve booked my trip to the east coast to speak at my alma mater, Connecticut College, and their college republican club. I’ll be there October 9th through 15th, and I would love to get engaged for other gigs while I’m there. If you know of any conservative clubs, Republican groups, Tea Party or 912 clubs, or anyone else who would get something out of following the dark money on the Left, please email me at info@5440fight.com.
