Tracy sits down with David Ford, CEO of CMA Physician Services, to challenge the notion that independent medical practices are becoming obsolete. David shares his passion for supporting private practitioners and unveils Medway, a new subscription-based service designed to lift administrative burdens off physicians' shoulders. Through compelling stories and practical insights, David makes the case that private practice may actually be the wave of the future, with more physicians seeking independence and control over their practice style. This conversation offers hope and practical guidance for healthcare providers considering or currently managing independent practices. Episode Highlights: CMA Physician Services' mission to help independent practices thrive through "the upside of coordination without the downside of consolidation" How the soon-to-launch Medway service helps physicians outsource administrative burdens like payroll, benefits, and compliance The story of a physician in California's high desert who can continue serving Medicare patients thanks to shared savings programs Why private practice isn't dead - and may actually be making a comeback The systemic challenges facing new physicians with student debt, and programs that help address these barriers How lifting administrative burdens gives physicians more time for patients AND personal life The importance of community-centered healthcare and treating social determinants of health Memorable Quotes: "Independent practice isn't dead, like you can do it." - David Ford "You didn't do all that schooling to run payroll." - David Ford "Why would you own your practice if you don't have control over your schedule and your time? What's the point?" - Tracy Cherpeski "I think of it like standing on the beach and seeing the swell that's a half mile out... it's not a wave yet, but you can see a little bit of a swell out there." - David Ford on the trend of physicians returning to private practice "It can be done... It probably can't be done the same way it was 50 or 60 years ago. You have to approach it a little differently... But it is very much still possible. You can do it. You can be successful and you can thrive, have your practice and still have the life you want to have." - David Ford Bio: David Ford serves as the CEO of CMA Physician Services, a subsidiary of the California Medical Association. A nationally recognized expert in health information technology, David previously led as Vice President of Health IT at CMA where he developed thought leadership in electronic health records, health information exchange, and telehealth. Prior to CMA, he was Executive Director of CalHIPSO, the nation's largest federally designated Regional Extension Center, where he helped thousands of safety net providers implement health IT systems to improve care delivery and participate in payment reform. David began his career in the California State Legislature, most recently as Chief of Staff to then-Assemblymember Ted Lieu. -PGA Championship review -Discussing Colonial -Talking top 7 on odds board -1 t10, 1 t20 -2 outrights (+250, 45/1) -Sleeper -2 FRP, 2 lineups, Scoring, best bet -Soudal outright & t10 The podcast, hosted by Will Doctor, offers a comprehensive preview of the Charles Schwab Challenge at Colonial Country Club and touches on the Soudal Open. Doctor begins with praise for world number one Scottie Scheffler, forecasting his victory at Colonial and noting his dominant Texas swing. Scheffler's recent win at the PGA Championship marked his 15th PGA Tour title before age 29, aligning him with legends like Nicklaus and Woods. Doctor outlines Scheffler's stats from the event, highlighting his final round resilience, including an eagle on 14, critical birdies on 14 and 15, and solid putting after initial struggles. Randy Smith, Scheffler's coach, described this performance as possibly the most rewarding round Scheffler has played. Doctor critiques his own PGA Championship betting card, noting it only yielded a half-unit gain despite hits on Scheffler (+550) and DeChambeau (Top 10). He reflects on losses from backing McIlroy, Thomas, and Im, delving into McIlroy's inaccuracy off the tee, failed iron play, and silence following a USGA equipment test that deemed his driver nonconforming. Justin Thomas's underperformance is attributed to poor ball striking, while Jon Rahm's fade despite elite ball striking was due to putting failures. The host shifts to Colonial course analysis, highlighting a $25 million renovation aimed at restoring Perry Maxwell's original design. Though some greens now appear less aesthetic, the redesign added hydronic systems to preserve bentgrass surfaces. Doctor stresses the importance of accuracy and iron sharpness over distance, favoring creative shot-shapers and bentgrass specialists. Scheffler is his top pick again at +250, citing his exceptional iron play and previous Colonial results. Daniel Berger, though strong with irons recently, is dismissed due to weak putting on bentgrass. Fleetwood, Spieth, Matsuyama, and McNeely are similarly passed over due to poor form or course misfit. Two featured picks to place are Davis Riley (Top 10 at +350), praised for improved driving and short game despite iron inconsistencies, and Aaron Rai (Top 20 at +130), celebrated for precision and bentgrass putting. Doctor's outright longshot is JT Poston (45-1), noted for consistent driving, improving irons, and elite putting, making him an ideal Scheffler challenger. The sleeper pick is Thor Bjorn Olsen to Top 10 at 6-1, based on positive recent form and favorable putting surface. First-round bets include Scheffler (Top 10 at even) and Harry Hall (Top 10 at 5-1), with Hall's strong putting and improved iron play highlighted. Two fantasy lineups are shared. The DraftKings lineup features Poston, Rai, Riley, Hall, Olsen, and David Ford—a top-ranked amateur with Colonial experience. The PGA Tour fantasy team mirrors this with Ford and Olsen benched. Doctor forecasts a 12-under winning score and pegs Poston (Top 10 at 3-1) as the best bet. For the Soudal Open, Thomas Pieters is tipped to win at 22-1 and to Top 10 at +225. Doctor notes Pieters' revived iron play and strong finishes in past editions of the home event. The episode concludes with a promo code and a sign-off promising updates from the next major venue. Hey, fellow lushes! We fell in love with this guy's music in 2013 when we saw him open for David Ford in Chicago. Jarrod Dickenson is a guitarist, singer, songwriter and producer, originally from Waco, Texas, now based in Nashville. His latest album, Big Talk, comes after a major label deal-gone-bad threatened to choke off his career. Stardom Road was Marc Almond's first release since his near-fatal motorcycle accident in 2004. It was a long, dark path to recovery that left him unable to write songs and he required singing lessons to find his voice again. Once over that hurdle, Marc returned to the studio to work on a covers album, the concept being that the selected songs contained a narrative relating to his life. Stardom Road was over two years in the making, the project growing from humble beginnings to full orchestral productions of some well-known classics and several obscure, lesser-known tracks. We talk about each song individually, delve deeper into the track selections and discuss how Marc's versions compare to the originals, culminating in an album rating out of ten from both of us. We made a Spotify playlist of the original recordings, which creates an enjoyable comparative experience. You can listen here: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/74cWCP3yhNbgJ296XLDfNB?si=1ae316ca2fac49f8 We also had a lovely message from Katarina Kovac, who explained how she discovered Marc Almond before going on to record this incredible cover of his song 'Only The Moment': https://youtu.be/EuY9-oa5iDI?si=IknKS0-hF0ibYCE8 Our review of the UK singles and album charts for the week of release in June 2007 noted a tangible difference between the artists and styles, with the singles chart full of nightclub-friendly heavy beats and samples from the likes of Akon, Gym Class Heroes, Hellogoodbye, and Mutya Buena covering Bob Marley and the Whalers, Supertramp, Avril Lavigne, and Lenny Kravitz respectively. The album charts were much more band-centric and featured singers with musicians, rather than electronically generated sounds, such as Amy Winehouse, Maroon 5, Pigeon Detectives, Kaiser Chiefs, Michael Buble, and the Arctic Monkeys. Our Top 3 picks for this episode were our favourite duets. It's Walker Cup week, and for this episode we are previewing the matches with coach Andrew DiBitetto who has 3 players teeing it up at St. Andrews for the US squad! This is something that has only been done twice before by college teams with both Cal and Alabama having 3 players on the 2013 squad at NGLA. Coach DiBitetto and Henry break down each of his 3 guys teeing it up this week, Dylan Menante, David Ford, and Austin Greaser, what each of their processes were like making the team and sweating out final selections, what each of them brings to the squad and more. Further, we talk about what has given rise to the success of UNC Men's golf over the last 6 years since Coach DiBitetto has taken the reigns and how that has led to something like having 3 American Walker Cuppers. After this first segment with Coach DiBitetto, Henry and Walker wrap things up by providing a little more action on the event overall, it's history at St. Andrews, the other 7 US players, as well as the GB&I squad, and finally, a few picks to round out the episode!Hope you all enjoy this episode and as always, we greatly appreciate you supporting us!Cheers,- The Tie GuysWebsite:https://www.thetiepodcast.comInstagram:https://www.instagram.com/thetiepodcast/?hl=enTwitter:https://mobile.twitter.com/thetiepodcastGoodWalk Coffee:https://goodwalkcoffee.comCODE: thetie for 20% offBDraddy:bdraddy.comCODE: thetie25 for 25% off

Micheal O'Siadhail reflects on his latest collection of poetry, Testament. A confession of faith through Psalms refracted through his experience, and the Gospel story retold through rhyme, O'Siadhail's vibrant faith manifests as complaint, longing, grief, mourning, and doubt. With mountains and oceans of poetry written over the past 45 years, he writes on love, loss, modernity, music—all an experiment of drawing the universal down into the particular and right back up again. From Psalm 1, his opening verses, he writes, "Uncloseted, / Things once unsaid my life declares: / My words are prayers my being plays; / Through you I gaze at all I love."This episode was made possible in part by the generous support of the Tyndale House Foundation. Abe Partridge received national and international recognition in early 2018 when he released his first official full-length release, Cotton Fields and Blood For Days, to rave reviews and substantial airplay on Americana radio. It landed Partridge a lengthy feature in The Bitter Southerner and the album was chosen to be one of their “Top 30 albums of 2018.” Ranging from the earthy to the surreal, from the spiritual light to the depths of depression, Partridge draws listeners in with a combination of southern gothic storytelling, dark humor, and gripping intensity. Partridge was on tour in the Netherlands and Belgium in November of 2018 when he met and bonded with David Ford, who says, “By the time you've witnessed ten thousand men take to the stage with an acoustic guitar to sing about their feelings, you can easily get to the impression that whether magnificent or mediocre they're all to some degree just recycling the schtick of Bob Dylan, James Taylor or any number of whiskey-sodden bluesmen. Then one rainy night in the Netherlands I saw Abe Partridge take to the stage with an acoustic guitar and it felt like the first time anybody ever thought to try it. He didn't just sing his songs, he set fire to them. It was brutal and tender and smart and angry and funny and brilliantly, uniquely authentic. I saw it as a magnificent reminder that great songs, delivered with honest intensity were what first made me want to do any of this in the first place.” When Partridge is not writing or touring, he is creating his folk art paintings, which now hang in art galleries around the Southeast and in the private collections of Tyler Childers, Mike Wolfe (American Pickers), and Rick Hirsch (Wet Willie). He painted the cover art for Charlie Parr's, Last Of The Better Days Ahead (Smithsonian Folkways). His monthly subscription-based art club has sustained him (and his wife and 3 children) during the Covid-19 pandemic. Partridge is also considered to be a storyteller and documentarian with his recently released "Alabama Astronaut" podcast along with host Ferrill Gibbs who podcasted for the Houston Chronicle and is currently the director of podcasting for the CBS affiliate KBTX in College Station, TX. The podcast is about Partridge's 2.5-year journey during the COVID-19 pandemic, discovering undocumented American music found in serpent-handling churches across Appalachia. The podcast was released on September 14, 2022, and on September 16th it hit the top 10 in Apple Podcast documentaries. American Songwriter Magazine said, “Abe Partridge has established himself as one of the most respected songwriters and visual folk artists in the southeast.” Partridge is currently putting the finishing touches on a new studio album "Love in the Dark" projected to be released in early 2023.
