If 11 people said they'd seen a suspect for three hours during the time the murders were committed, would you believe them? Sounds like a rock solid alibi to Rory and Kylie. Yet, somehow for David Camm, it wasn't strong enough of an alibi. On September 28, 2000, former Indiana State trooper David Camm returned to his Floyd County, Indiana home to find his wife and children murdered. After three trials and thirteen years in prison, he was acquitted. Camm's case remains known as one of the most egregious wrongful convictions in Indiana's recent history. So what did happen to the Camm family? Why did investigators hone in on Camm despite the fact a violent felon's DNA was found at the murder scene? What was the real story of all the blood evidence used to arrest and convict Camm?Retired Federal Bureau of Investigation agent Gary Dunn was kind enough to share with us a copy of the probable cause affidavit in Camm's case. Dunn investigated Camm's case for the defense, and chronicled his experience in the book Their Bloody Lies and Persecution of David Camm: Part One. It's a great book that delves deeply into the crime. September 28th, 2000, former Indiana State Trooper David Camm came home and found his wife and children brutally shot down in the family garage. He was then arrested, put on trial and convicted--not once, but twice for the murders. In the the third trial he was finally aquitted after spending 13 years in prison. Warning: This episode contains details of gun violence against children. The man who taught police departments around the country how to analyze bloodstain patterns went on to testify in one of the most famous cases of the 20th century: The OJ Simpson trial. But in the case of Indiana state trooper David Camm, the interpretation of just a few specks of blood sent him to prison for the murder of his entire family-a crime he was acquitted of after being imprisoned for over a decade. David Camm Case | EP 75 | Gary Dunn | Gary Dunn, a 27-year FBI Agent with a wide array of experience investigating white collar, corruption, terrorism, and violent crimes, often dealt with heartbroken victims and their remorseless perpetrators. He would find both in the Camm case as David's private investigator. Stunned by the incompetent, biased police investigations, lack of a fair, impartial justice system, and some who claimed to be forensic scientists, follow his and the defense team's contentious investigative path in the trials of David Camm.Originally Aired on: Dec 21, 2022 | 2:00pm Eastern
Former FBI Agent Gary Dunn has released "Their Bloody Lies and Persecution of David Camm" where he takes a deep dive into the police files and court records surrounding the Floyd County, Indiana murder of Camm's wife and two kids that captivated Louisville and the surrounding area in the fall of 2000.
Although featured nationally on 48 Hours, Dateline, and the Oxygen Network, the detailed, complete, and totally unbelievable story of the case of DAVID CAMM has never been fully revealed as police, prosecutors, forensic scientists, and judges either sought or facilitated the convictions of an innocent man while ignoring a mountain of exculpatory evidence. While David was being pursued, persecuted, and incarcerated, Kim, Brad, and Jill Camm's true killer, a devil-worshiping, sexually obsessed, 11-time convicted violent psychopath was left free to roam the streets of metropolitan Louisville, Kentucky. Once identified by his DNA, but only through the efforts of David's uncle and defense team, that same cold-blooded murderer was treated, incredibly, first as a victim and then shockingly as an accomplice of David.Their Bloody Lies & Persecution of DAVID CAMM is a chilling, reprehensible, yet very tragic and true American crime story, leaving readers demanding, “How did this case happen and why was this travesty allowed to continue?”Sam Lockhart knew, absolutely knew, his nephew couldn't have killed his wife and children, for he was with David and ten other people at the time of the murders. For 13 years and at an enormous personal and financial cost, Sam, his family, and business suffered the disdain of those in the local community, but Sam never lost focus of his ultimate goal: the exoneration of David and justice for Kim, Brad, and Jill.Gary M. Dunn was a 27-year veteran Agent with the FBI in Miami, Chicago, Gary, Indiana, and Southern Indiana, with a wide array of experience investigating corruption, terrorism, white collar, and violent crimes while often dealing with true psychopaths. After becoming the private investigator for David's second defense team, he was stunned by the incompetent, biased investigations; lack of a fair, impartial justice system; and those who claimed to be forensic scientists. Follow his and the defense team's investigative path in a case you won't soon forget. THEIR BLOODY LIES AND PERSECUTION OF DAVID CAMM: Part 1-Gary M. Dunn
Author and former FBI Agent Gary Dunn discusses his new book "Their Bloody Lies & Persecution of David Camm." Dunn talked about the investigation into the case and some of the oddities therein, Camm's current status, Charles Boney, why he wrote the book (and it's subsequent sequel)...
This episode is the essence of Steve and Hannah's discussions that preceded the idea to create this podcast. Listen as they unpack the case and banter about the facts and circumstances of the wrongfully convicted David Camm of murdering his wife and two children in Indiana in 2000. Steve peels back the onion on how shoddy forensics and investigators zeroed in on the former Indiana State trooper and overlooked key evidence that would have provide reasonable doubt to jurors. Today for our March two case episode we cover two cases that involve two wrongfully convicted men, David Ray Camm and Jimmy Ray Bromgard. Gina covers the case of David Camm, a father and husband who comes home from a basketball game to discover his family brutally murdered in their garage. The details surrounding the case were anything but ordinary, and David was tried for this three separate times with a different motive pushed each time. It all comes down to a man nicknamed, “Backbone.” Hayley covers the case of young Jim Bromgard who was arrested for the rape of 8-year-old, Linda Glantz. His trial was frustrating to say the least, with very little evidence to convict him, but that didn't stop the jury from sending him to prison. He spent the next 14.5 years there before DNA evidence was able to prove his innocence and led to his exoneration. The man responsible was a (pathetic excuse for a) man by the name of Ronald Tipton, but unfortunately for the victim, justice can't be served. On the night of September the 28th 2000, David Camm returned home from basketball to find his whole family murdered in their garage. As a former state trooper David jumped into action. It would only take local police three days to charge David with the murder of his family, an ordeal that would stretch over thirteen years and 3 criminal trials before the truth is finally revealed.
Every Thursday, former State Trooper David Camm played in a couple pickup games of basketball at his church's rec center. One Thursday night in September, 2000, he came home, worried his wife, Kim, would be upset that the games had run long that night and he hadn't been home to help get their two small children to bed. But when he opened the garage as he arrived home, he discovered his entire family had been slaughtered there in the garage. As a former cop, he expected his old cop buddies to do whatever it took to find who killed his family. David Camm was an Indiana State Trooper who was convicted of killing his wife and two small children in cold blood execution style. He spent over 10+ years in prison for a crime it turns out he didn't commit. David swore from the beginning he wasn't the killer and had no reason to kill his wife and children but with a coroner claiming his daughter had been molested and David's long list of affairs evidence against David was piling up. BUT then a mysterious sweatshirt was introduced, new DNA was found and a completely new suspect emerges. Join us this week as we discuss this rollercoaster of a case. It's definitely a doozie. He spent 13 years in prison but after a third trial, he was acquitted and released in 2013.David's case highlights some of the failures in forensics and where the justice system can go wrong. It highlights the need for scientific scrutiny, awareness of bias and tunnel vision. Bloodstain Pattern Evidence was at the center of his case and we discuss how a few droplets of blood on his t-shirt became a large shifting point in the bloodstain pattern analysis community.Originally aired on November 26, 2020
Katie takes us to Georgetown, Indiana with this week's case. Follow along as we sift through a case that was appealed not 1, not 2, but 3 times. David Camm is one of the most unnerving cases of tunnel vision from the police. A former state trooper convicted of killing his family. Could he be the killer or not guilty. Listen to me and my sisters talk about this great case.
In this case police focused so narrowly on someone who had once been their brother in arms that even when his innocence was obvious, they just couldn’t see it. David Camm had an airtight alibi and all of the evidence pointed to someone else but that didn't stop him from becoming the #1 suspect in the murder of his family. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app

A man is convicted of killing his wife and two kids, but upon further review, something interesting was found on the victims - skin cells from another man's hands. That, paired with other evidence, was enough to set David Camm free. Despite many advances in forensic science, people are still convicted on the testimony of people who call themselves experts. Some of the testimony and evidence is based on what lawyers and other scientists call junk science. For one man, junk science meant 13 years in prison, before the expert witness was finally debunked. Not really, but almost. Listen to the episode and you will understand the episode title. What a fun conversation full of feathers, backstage vibes at the Pink Flamingo on the Gold Coast Australia, laughter, classic show biz shenanigans, and hand over mouth moments. We talk all things Event's Entertainment from 3 Australian mission driven entertainment providers and the latest debacle surrounding the AFL, Sunrise and Channel 10. Which, as we sadly know, is only one part of a much bigger values oriented issue. David Camm from Entertainment works and Jane McPhie from Class Act Creative and myself, standing in this space as the Director of Dancers 4 Events Productions and the facilitator of Dancer's Circle, are these three voices who I have no doubt echo the reaction and hurt felt by so many Australian entertainers recently.... and for far too long. We get off track, then back on track, and talk about the many things we can do (and not do) to possibly help Australia's creative arts sector and the human souls living their livelihoods within it. (Or trying to). Human first! *Mantra reminder. Hint - It is a bottom up, unified, collaborative and committed effort from all arts peeps to stand firm and say "we don't do that anymore". To quote David. Look, I zoom in from Southern Italy, we start at a classy dinner show, we lose David half way through then he reappears, we cry a little, get a little angry, I get on the stage in Queensland with Jane virtually (and my heart explodes), we throw out some lines and words that possibly need censoring and then we end up in David's abandoned Kebab shop in Sydney which houses half of Bangkok's costume selection drinking a bottle of red and trying on expensive backpacks in true entertainer's style. Behind all the razzle dazzle, there is the pain and the struggle, and here is a conversation that might spark some more conversation which might spark some movement and change. That is the idea my friends. Get sharing, get talking, lets get changing. We can do an impossible quick change in 10 seconds flat... we can do anything! #paythedancers
HI FRIENDS. This week Katie and Hannah talk legal system failures. As you can tell by the title of this episode, there may or may not be a wee bit of corruption involved. Tap in, let's see. Katie shares the case of James Joseph Richardson - wrongfully convicted of the 1967 murders of his 7 children. Hannah shares David Camm's case - who was also wrongfully convicted but TWICE for the murders of his wife and two children in 2000. New segment alert: We speak early in the episode about starting a new segment where we connect with individuals who have had personal experiences to a crime, case, or any kind of story that would fit our true crime niche. A few days after recording the initial episode Katie was able to connect with Kristin, who was a victim of sexual assault 11 years ago. Kristen shares her experience and how she was able to process the awful situation she had been through, then how she able to grow and find peace through the brokenness. Katie may have cried silently on mute during the conversation...but wow strong women are amazing, am I right?! Any personal stories you'd be interested in sharing, or case recommendations, please email: suspectpodcast1@gmail.com Our instagram: @suspectpodcast Be sure to check out Kristin's podcast dropping soon, Coeur, on podcast platforms. Get to the heart of the matter. Be motivated. David Ray Camm is a former trooper of the Indiana State Police who spent 13 years in prison after twice being wrongfully convicted of the murders of his wife, Kimberly, and his children, Brad (7) and Jill (5), at their home in Georgetown, Indiana, on September 28, 2000. He was released from custody in 2013 after his third trial resulted in an acquittal. This is the story as I understand it.
It took 3 trials to decide if David Camm murdered his wife and two kids. Do you think he did it?
The case against David Camm is about to be turned on its head. Eric Ray and Glenn Langenburg continue the story with a second and third trial and the introduction of a mountain of evidence against a new suspect. The episode concludes with an in-depth discussion on the importance of considering multiple scenarios in bloodstain pattern and all forensic disciplines. It all ties back to our previous discussions of activity level propositions.
In this multi-part series on the Indiana v. David Camm case, Eric and Glenn review the evidence over multiple episodes. In this first episode they review the evidence of the Prosecution and the first trial. There is discussion regarding latent print evidence, DNA evidence, crime scene reconstruction, medical examiner findings, and blood stain pattern evidence. The blood stain evidence is fairly critical in placing David Camm at the scene of a triple homicide (his wife and two young children).

David Camm, a retired Indiana State Trooper, arrived home after playing basketball at a local church one evening and found his wife on the garage floor shot in the head. Her pants and shoes were removed, and her shoes were on top of the family's Ford Bronco. Their two children, ages five and seven, were found in the backseat of the car, fatally shot as well. David was arrested two days later. In an unfortunate case of police tunnel vision, followed by prosecutorial misconduct, a palm print inside the car was ignored and a prison sweatshirt found next to his wife was dismissed. A name was printed on the back of the sweatshirt. On October 24, 2013, three trials and thirteen years later, David Camm was acquitted and walked a free man. Tune in to hear David and his private investigator, Bill Clutter, tell the sordid details of David's journey and his ultimate exoneration.
