A while ago AL spoke to Derek Willis about the Shropshire Drama Company production of ART which was playing at The Walker Theatre at Theatre Severn. We gave away tickets for the show and got the opportunity to come along and speak to the cast backstage.Starting off, we speak to director Derek and Neville Street who was the stage manager. AL then took part in some voice warm-ups with the cast which left him feeling nostalgic after a very smooth rendition of Kumala Vista.AL then speaks to cast members Ben, Tom and Dave who talk us through the play and how this particular play is tackled technically. This play is based on the outside view of a friendship between 3 guys who are debating a white painting on a white background. With huge chunks of dialogue and such a small cast the pressure is really on to nail their lines and performances. Finally AL catches up with a member of the audience to discuss their thoughts on the ART.I want to say a huge thank you to Neville Street for setting all of this up, giving me a lift to the theatre and even gifting me a really cool Minnesota Vikings hat! Also, to Derek and the members of the cast who spoke to me. This audio is amazing and I took so much from it. The was fantastic and you guys smashed it out of the park!
Thanks to our good friend Neville Street we were lucky enough to very quickly organise an interview with Derek Willis who is bringing a very fun, very well thought out play to Theatre Severn in November. Some may remember "Bouncers" from 2021, it was a great show that got a lot of good press. Shropshire Drama Company are bringing "Art" to Theatre Severn on the 9th - 12th November and it sounds like a lot of fun."Art" written by Yasmina Reza offers a woman's outside perspective of a conversation between 3 friends about a piece of art. It really offers questions about the relationships between guys and their friendships. Derek has spent a lot of time moulding this into something that can be enjoyed by all.AL spends a bit of time finding out all about Derek and what it is about the theatre that he finds so appealing. From the conception of an idea, to the final curtain fall, what about the process does Derek love the most. After speaking to Derek I can tell you a lot of love has gone into making this show something special and I encourage you all to take a look at the Shropshire Drama Company's website to learn more about them and most importantly buy tickets. The website is right here - https://shropshiredramacompany.co.uk/ Derek was a wonderful guest and I can already tell this is not the only time he will feature on The Biscuit. Thank you Neville Street for making the connection and helping us get this interview together at such short notice - AL

My guest on this episode of Nobody’s Safe w/Brady Laber is former NKU basketball great Tyler Sharpe. Tyler is from Mount Washington, Kentucky and was on the varsity basketball team at Bullitt East High School for five seasons. Tony Barr was the head coach of the Chargers and brought Tyler up to the varsity to lean from upperclassmen Derek Willis, Rusty Troutman, Trey Rakes and Elliott Young. Tyler was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease in middle school and he describes how its effected him and his journey living with this medical condition. Tyler is part of a great class at Bullitt East that takes over as sophomores. He becomes the leading scorer for the Chargers and Bob Blackburn comes out of retirement to take over as head coach. Tyler also talks about Ernest “June Bug” Rakes who was an assistant coach and his son Bailey is one of Tyler’s best friends growing up. Tyler talks about the recruiting process which was not very good for him as he finds himself continually being overlooked for scholarship opportunities. After a long and winding road he decides to attend the University of Louisville as a preferred walk-on. After a season playing very sparingly for the Cardinals (2016-17) he decides that he wants to explore other avenues in hopes for a change at more playing time. One of his former AAU teammates Mason Faulkner directs him toward NKU where again he would have to be a walk-on. Head coach John Brannen explained that the roster is loaded coming off a Horizon League championship team but he would earn his way into playing time if he put in the work. Although things are rough in the beginning, Tyler starts to see time as a role player mostly becasue of his defense. He eventually becomes a solid rotation player that is a threat to make three-point shots on the offensive end of the floor. NKU earns a number-one seed in the Horizon League tournament but losses in the first round to Cleveland State. However, the Norse are invited to play in the NIT and are match with Tyler’s former team the Louisville Cardinals. Tyler returns for his junior season and starts 32 out of 35 games for a Norse team that wins the Horizon League tournament. He talks in depth about the game winning shot Drew McDonald hits to beat the buzzer against Oakland winner the semifinal game. NKU qualifies for the NCAA tournament and Tyler talks about the selection process and the lead-up to that first round game against Texas Tech. After the year head coach John Brannen leaves for the University of Cincinnati and he is replaced by Darin Horn. Tyler talks about the process of Brannen leaving and Horn taking over for his senior year. Senior year was an up-and-down year for the Norse becasue of injuries to key players Jalen Tate and Dantez Walton. Tyler is also injured at times but somehow finds a way to play through it. By February the full compliment of players are back in time for NKU to win another Horizon League tournament championship. Unfortunately. the NCAA tournament is canceled due to COVID-19 and that is how Tyler’s career comes to an end. But that is not the end of the story. Tyler applies to for a waiver to NCAA to get the year of eligibility back from his time at Louisville where he player just 11 minutes total as a walk-on. He goes into detail about the process and the results which is disappointing to say the least. As for now, Tyler is at peace with his career although disappointed as how it came to an end. He talks about his future plans which includes a possible professional basketball career, his engagement to former NKU soccer player Samantha Duwel (https://nkunorse.com/sports/womens-soccer/roster/samantha-duwel/3989) and starting his work career working for Solgen Energy. Tyler is doing a giveaway involving his NKU game-used shoes and some of this practice gear. All you have to do is contact him via DM, instant message or more preferable his email address which is tyler.sharpe@solgenpower.com. All you have to do is setup a free appointment with him to talk about converting your home from electric to solar and you’re automatically entered for the giveaway and he is taking entries up until Christmas 2020. Shortly before President Trump took office, his lawyer promised Trump would forgo any profits his hotels made from foreign governments. There was no similar pledge for money earned from federal government employees, state officials, or anybody else who might be seeking to curry favor. And a lot of that money is coming from you, U.S. taxpayers. In this episode of Trump, Inc. we’re going deep on Trump’s hotel rooms and the people who are paying to stay in them. We will talk to three people tracking the flow of taxpayer money from government employees and elected officials to the Trump Organization, many through hotel stays, many booked by individual government workers. ProPublica has just released an interactive detailing at least $16.1 million spent at Trump Organization-managed and branded hotels, golf courses and restaurants from his campaign, Republican organizations, and government agencies since Trump announced his candidacy. The vast majority of the money — at least $13.5 million — was spent by Trump’s presidential campaign. We also found at least $400,000 has been spent by federal and state agencies — a figure that includes only a few agencies as many have resisted disclosing that information. Among the examples we know of: In March 2017, for example, the Secret Service paid $27,724.32 at the Trump golf course and resort in Doonbeg, Ireland. The stay was to “support E. Trump Visit.” The Trump Organization and the White House did not respond to our requests for comment. Reporting by Derek Kravitz and Derek Willis, ProPublica and Paul Cronan, Mark Schifferli and Charlie Smart, Fathom Information Design.
