The Summer season has come full circle again, that time of year where everyone enjoys being outside, especially in their gardens on a long, sunny day. Gardeners are still in full flow - planting out new beds, mowing their lawns and cajoling their vegetable gardens into burgeoning yields. It's a great time to be alive in horticulture as the show season reaches a crescendo, plant fairs almost every weekend threaten to empty your savings and open gardens throughout the UK inspire that next bit of work you will be doing in your own plot. As ever Lucy and Saul will bring you tales (and waffle) from their gardens, so join us every week for more horticultural high-jinx on Talking Heads. With Saul in Devon wrapped up in his autumn clothing, and Lucy barely wearing much due to the Essex heat, the Talking Heads duo are made well aware of the UK's differences in weather patterns. Teetering on the political, the duo talk, too, about the impact leaving Europe is having on UK seed supplies, and Lucy reports back on a pepper trial thus far. With Saul off to Rosemoor, then Scotland, then ultimately Audley End in the next two weeks, Lucy takes up the reins for next week's episode. Toby or not Toby? That is the question…Welcome to episode 441 of The Chris Moyles Show on Radio X Podcast! This week, Toby Tarrant sat in for Chris and whatever you would have predicted for this week, I can guarantee it wasn't this. In fact, as well as Toby's new game, 'Toby or Not Toby?', he had other important questions on his mind too: is it better to have nine or ten arms? Is it acceptable to have chips with your Chinese takeaway? Toby wasn't the only one asking questions though, as Dom ventured into Leicester Square to ask the public if liked his Vicar's dungarees (thanks Father Rachel). As well as all that, the wonderful Abbey Clancy joined Toby and Dom to tell them about her new Global podcast, Exhibit A. Toby then took this as an opportunity to play her some throwback tunes from her brief singing career…I'll let you judge whether she enjoyed it. Well. It's all good stuff. However, if you fancy some extra Toby Tarrant titbits, you can also expect…A guide on how to please a womanHeart Breakfast's Jamie Theakston's opinion on chips with a ChineseA breakdown of Intern Bella's birthday burgerEnjoy! This is episode 2/3.Alex and Leon return for Day Two of DRAWN at the Flaxmill in Shrewsbury. They had a room full of Shropshire's finest artists and a PORTABLE MICROPHONE you know, so they could get about and speak to people! The task of the day was doing this all before the batteries ran out so the best way to do this was with a good ole Biscuit-run. Hit record, walk and talk and don't stop until you get great content. Alex and Leon spoke to some old friends like Gisela Robinson, Saffron Russell, the guys from Dungarees and Squeegees, Morgan Bird from MVK Paints and the Good Egg Bakery, we made some new friends too along the way. The themes of the day were a continuation of the Question relay and Leon has an IMPORTANT question for everybody - "Does pineapple belong on pizza?" This question got some really controversial answers! This was a great day, it was much better being able to move freely about the warehouse and speak to people at their stalls. The guerrilla style of the Biscuit-runs really added something nice to this one. Thanks to everyone that spoke to us, the organisers and Leon too, you did a great job buddy - AL

In this first episode of 2023 - Happy New Year! - Andy and Alex are reunited in Auckland, New Zealand and finally sit side-by-side again while watching and podding about Who. They choose a cosy favourite - Elisabeth Sladen's swansong The Hand of Fear. But will the story live up to the pressure of being the first they've watched together since 2019? Alex is quick to question whether Watson should be shouting the odds and whether he'll keep his job after the, erm, 'firing missiles at a nuclear reactor' incident, while Andy is amazed that Kastrian electrics are good enough to last 150 million years. Both are keen to understand Eldrad's original plan to go back in time in the TARDIS. Is it to stop themselves from being obliterated, and, if so, wouldn't there be two Eldrads? We also learn a lot about a couple of supporting characters who don't make it on screen: Loreen Watson and Mary Ann Driscoll. While IRL Andy muses when exactly Tom Baker dated the story's make-up artist Judy Neame. Elsewhere Alex details The Curse of Dungarees, there's an 80s Master quiz and Lou Jameson just ‘wants to be'. All this and an acapella rendition of The Sandman. With this 52nd episode we are really spoiling you. Next Time: Frontios
If how you dress, the hair you wear, tattoos, and piercings are included in your freedom of expression, then we cannot be shocked that people use their freedom of expression to judge us. What does that mean for us as teachers? What does that mean for us as parents as we buy clothes for our kids? Trust me, Im NOT a person who feels a need to dress professionally, I want people to judge me for the effectiveness of my instruction, but Im not out to silence people's own expression against how I dress. I just want to prove them wrong.

Join hosts Gabe Cook, Martyn Goodwin-Sharman, Grant Hutchison and Producer Scott as they drink dentist cider in the Neutral Cider Hotel!Firstly, congratulations are due for our very own Gabe, as he's soon to be a dad, don't worry we'll make a new bell noise for his latest release, the guys unpack their suitcases with a lot of travels, and someone has had a pesky bout of something wicked…The guys also have a little voice note thanks to the beautiful Producer Scott, and it definitely caps off the first part, before it's off to the news!Gabe details the hot news, with the Cider Salon first up! With heaps of makers, great liquids and a whole host of fringe events, it's sure to be the highlight of the cider calendar for sure! Gabe brags about his new best friend James Acaster, before the guys chat World Cider Day. Martyn shares the good news in London with The London Cider House and Scott announces we've passed the 50 episode mark. Then it's onto this week's interview, who happens to be the founder of one of the USA's most pioneering modern cider makers. A self proclaimed die hard craft beer revolutionary, this Portland-based cider maker pushes the boundaries of flavour and process to make the most unusual ciders that (apparently) no one else will make! And if you're really lucky, he might even officiate your wedding. Checking in to the Neutral Cider Hotel, it's Nat West from Reverend Nat's Cider! The guys chat about everything, including the honeymoon suite, starting making cider, the ciders no one else will make, standing up for flavour and fermenting meat in your drinks! It's a full on chat with a lot of flavour, even if it isn't right up Grant's street! Then, the guys close out the show by playing a little game that Gabe created. Its less of a game and more a random stab at a list, and if that doesn't excite you, you might be a young conservative! And with that, the hotel closes for another month. Please do check out the socials, and send us your messages to have your say in where the guys go next, what happens in the future, and just let us know how you're doing! In business it's important to play to your strengths. So if you're a manufacturer, keep manufacturing. If you're a marketer, keep marketing. But playing it too safe can blind you to a big opportunity for decades. If you step outside of your comfort zone, you could be bound for a big payday. That was the case for Devil-Dog Dungarees. The company had been manufacturing apparel for other brands since 1927. But now, Devil-Dog is on track to become the next Levi's. In this episode, you'll meet our guests Sean Connelley and Stephanie Newman. They'll show you why pivoting unlocks explosive growth. You'll discover insider tips for growing your brand (or even starting it from scratch). Listen now! Show highlights include: Why a close relationship with your supplier lets you scale your “best sellers” faster (10:21) A simple, obvious (but rarely done) way to guarantee repeat business (16:31) How to add “sustainable” features to your product without sacrificing profit (21:27) The “dirty hands” secret that lets you start a successful business (even if you don't have any idea how to start) (25:55) How showing your product to retailers gets you more sales (even if they never buy it) (27:39) How to get an “emerging brand” award even if your brand has existed for years (29:48) Get free marketing with an almost undetectable addition to your product (30:38)
Hello! This is Part Three of my podcast episode on London. This concludes my journey around London, and in this episode I look at those boroughs northeast of the river. It appears that again, few of these boroughs are that well known, even by me. Topics discussed include: * A holiday period of beer and underwhelming activities * Dungarees and running. Not at the same time * Islington - Monopoly and Transport * Hackney - Old churches and even older theatres. And football * Waltham Forest - Where your grandmother got her fashion ideas from * Newham - Luton-on-the-Thames * Redbridge - ... where? The borough that meets all your #OneHourOutside needs * Dagenham & Redbridge - Let's take a ride in the Ford tonight, in suburbia * Havering - Little England There are two contributions in this episode. Jess, from Jess Travels, talks about Havering, while the introduction (the longest yet, I believe) is provided by Nat from Natpacker Travel. A PDF transcript of this episode is available. As always, if you have anything to say about the topic, or indeed about my podcasting in general, leave a comment or let me know. The pod has a Facebook group you can join, too. I also have a Patreon - if you like what you hear, and want to access exclusive content (or just to show your appreciation), then head on over. Until next time, bye for now. :)

It was a day like any other in Southern California; the sun shining and birds singing whilst one queen man-spreads on a couch in stone-washed jeans and another queen sits on a chair with frosted faux bangs and a creepy silk shirt featuring disembodied doll parts. Well, that was quite the match, wasn't it? We certainly were not expecting such a disparate final score, but as Paxman said, this was not a fair representation of Balliol's fantastic run through this season of University Challenge. Having said that, Lawson, Davies, Byrne and Payne have really stepped up their game and are looking like Warwick will have their work cut out for them in the final!Join us as we say goodbye to Balliol and O'Connor's eclectic dress sense, commend Magdalene's inspiring form, and marvel at how both teams manage to get so many answers correct.

Social distancing! This is what we have come to for the time being. While LQ, Myles and Trap Zeus weren't able to attend, Dennis, Coop, and the sister pod (Grossly Overqualified), join in on segments such as "AITA" and "Is this offensive?" QUESTION PRESENTED: In serial litigation between two parties, time tested principles of claim preclusion and issue preclusion govern when parties may and may not litigate issues that were, or could have been, litigated in a prior case. This Court has held that, in a subsequent case between the same parties involving different claims from those litigated in the earlier case, the defendant is free to raise defenses that were not litigated in the earlier case, even though they could have been. The Federal Circuit, Eleventh Circuit, and Ninth Circuit have all held the same in recent years. Their reasoning is straightforward: Claim preclusion does not bar such defenses, because the claims in the second case arise from different transactions and occurrences from the first case, and issue preclusion does not bar them either, because they were never actually litigated. The Second Circuit, however, has now held the opposite. Under the Second Circuit's "defense preclusion" rule, defendants are barred from raising such defenses even if the plaintiff’s claims are distinct from those asserted in the prior case and the defenses were never actually litigated. The question presented is: Whether, when a plaintiff asserts new claims, federal preclusion principles can bar a defendant from raising defenses that were not actually litigated and resolved in any prior case between the parties. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/scotus/support

Today we’re sitting down with freelance writer and deputy editor of Broccoli Magazine, Ellen Freeman, as well as Sharada Tolton - graphic designer, product photographer, and art educator for persons with disabilities. I initially approached Ellen on the basis of discussing her written work, and her current position at Broccoli Magazine, but it soon turned into a trio convo that, serendipitously, has come out the other end in what I can only describe as an ode to friendship, and the ways in which their’s supports them on a personal and professional level. What started out as a mutual disinterest in their peer’s gusto for Biology, not to mention Sharada’s innate styling of Dungarees, has led to the eventual co-founding of Muff, “a bi-annual magazine of feminism and esoterics.” I hope you lend us an ear as, once again, the friendship honed between ladies shows to be one of connection, collaboration, and sisterhood. So here's the thing. This show is really only about 1hr 40mins long, and throughout Lurch was knocking back a £50 bottle of wine like it was fecking Ribena. So hang around after the outro music, as we kept recording to see how messed up he would get.. And he did. We cover everything from egg throwing junkies, drilling holes in walls and why you'd spank away a grand on a partially working arcade machine. Yeah, all plans for emails and stories went out the window with this one, Lurch was on a rampage. Hope you enjoy! Scott.

Lesbian fashion. A misnomer? Surely, lesbians don't do fashion. But contrary to perception, clothing and style have been a crucial part of establishing an identity for women who love women. But if what we wear says who we are, can we be sure we're all talking in the same dialect or could we be misread? And is it possible to be outside the language of fashion? Speakers were Campbell X (Film Director/writer) and Dr Caroline Walters (writer/researcher).
