Das Land mit der einst strahlenden Anziehungskraft kämpft ziemlich erfolglos gegen einen Einbruch der Touristenzahlen aus dem Ausland.  Dies in einem Jahr, das eigentlich neue Rekorde erreichen müsste, mit Fußball WM und 250 Jahren USA. Ich mache auch keinen Hehl daraus, dass meine ursprünglich heiß geliebten USA schon seit zweieinhalb Jahren nicht mehr auf der Favoritenliste stehen, denn zu viel ist passiert: Im Land, durch fragwürdige Regierungsentscheidungen in Sachen Einreiseregelungen, Kontrollen und inneramerikanische Verhaltensweisen, die wenig Lust machen zu einer Reise dorthin aufzubrechen. Das ist Grund genug um zu reden. Das passiert in dieser Podcast-Folge mit meinem Talkgast Wolfgang Streitbörger, der als PR-Vertreter US-Amerikanischer Destinationen, die Aufgabe hat, genau das zu vermeiden. Eine Krise aufarbeiten – Geht das? Es ist ein schwieriges Gespräch. Auf der einen Seite gibt es nicht wegzudiskutierende Fakten, auf der anderen sagen USA-Besucher, die mit dem VISA-freien ESTA-Programm einreisen, es sei nie einfacher gewesen in die Staaten zu kommen. Selten sei die Grenzkontrolle schneller, freundlicher und reibungsloser abgelaufen. Bleibt die Frage, ob Berichte und Eindrücke von Problemen falsch sind, auf Sinnestäuschungen beruhen oder schlicht aufgebauscht wurden? Wir versuchen Sachverhalte zu klären, Falschinformation zu benennen und uns gleichzeitig an einer Einordnung zu versuchen. Sind die Argumente in Sachen Einreise denn berechtigt oder sind es Fehlinformationen, die zum schlechten Image geführt haben? Beruht das Phänomen auf Ängsten der Reisenden und dem „Säbelrasseln“ der Trump-Regierung, obwohl die Welt reisetechnisch sehr viel besser in Ordnung ist, als vermutet? Welche Faktoren gibt es? – Ängste, Politische Ablehnung, hohe Preise oder ist es einfach nur ein nachvollziehbares aber irrationales Gefühl? Es gab viele Meldungen über scharfe Kontrollen und Checks, die Überprüfung von Social-Media-Accounts und Mailadressen. Wie sieht die in der Praxis wahrgenommene Realität aus? Da ist die Angst in Kontrollen zu geraten und plötzlich im Knast zu sitzen. Aber: Trifft das auch deutsche Touristen, die in Musikmetropolen wie Memphis, New Orleans, Nashville usw. oder einfach nur die Sonne Floridas genießen wollen? Es gibt ja die Protestbewegung „No Kings“ und gleichzeitig feiert man das 250. USA-Jubiläum und das „Land of the Brave“, der Tapferen, Unerschrockenen und der Freiheitliebenden. Wie passt das zusammen? Selbst die Marketingorganisation „Brand USA“ ist ja seit geraumer Zeit unter Dauerbeschuss der Regierung. Das Geld wird immer knapper, für ein Tourismusmarketing, das gerade jetzt bitter notwendig wäre. Ist die Organisation aus Trump-Sicht nur einfach noch nicht gleichgeschaltet? Donald J. Trump ist Namensgeber der „Trump-Hotels“. Eine solche Marke müsste doch normalerweise ein Interesse an der Förderung des Tourismus haben. Wie passt das mit den fremdenfeindlichen Auftritten des Präsidenten Donald J. Trump zusammen? Sind diese Uneinigkeit im Land und das Aufeinanderprallen politischer Fronten auch Grund für den Imageschaden und den angstmachenden Faktoren? Ist man sich denn wenigstens in Tourismuskreisen etwas einiger, oder herrscht dort das gleiche politische Chaos? Der deutsche Tourismusblick Deutsche Veranstalter versuchen ja davon zu überzeugen, dass die Probleme hauptsächlich im Kopf der Reisenden oder besser Nicht-Reisenden existieren. Wie sieht das der PR-Mann Wolfgang Streitbörger, dessen Aufgabe es ja ist, solche Ängste gar nicht erst aufkommen zu lassen? Wie wird es weitergehen? Welche Hoffnungen tragen denn die USA-Touristiker mit sich herum? Wie gestaltet sich der Umgang mit dem Unmöglichen? Was wird aus den Hoffnungen aller, die ein tolles Land kennen und dort Freunde haben, die noch genauso gut, offen und freiheitlich denken? Wird sich das eventuell mit den “Mid-Terms”, den Zwischenwahlen im November ändern, oder schliddert der Tourismus dann in eine zusätzliche Krise? Die vergleichsweise Unabhängigkeit der Bundesstaaten, die sich auch im Tourismus niederschlägt mag Mut machen. Wirklich geklärt sind die Probleme des Landes noch lange nicht. Freiheit ja, aber für einige weniger davon. Vorurteile, Rassismus, soziale Standesunterschiede und Probleme haben sich im Lauf der letzten 100 Jahre nicht beseitigen lassen. Da muss man schon grenzenloser Optimist sein, wenn man glaubt, dass dies ein Regierungswechsel in gut zwei Jahren bewerkstelligen könnte. Bürgerrechtskampf und Ku-Klux-Klan: Civil Rights Museum, Jackson, Mississippi Auf der anderen Seite, so auch mein Talk-Gast Wolfgang, gibt es im Land, mitunter ganz plötzlich auch immer wieder Ereignisse, die man kaum vorhersehen kann. Bisher haben sich die USA noch immer wieder erholt. Ob das auch diesmal funktionieren wird? „Kings“ haben die Eigenheit, Macht nur unfreiwillig aufzugeben. Ob man sich auf die „No Kings“-Strategie der amerikanischen Verfassung rückbesinnt? Ich würde es mir wünschen. B.B. The Rich Zeoli Show- Full Episode (01/02/2025): 3:05pm- At 3:15am on Wednesday morning, a man behind the wheel of a pickup truck purposefully struck pedestrians celebrating the New Year on Bourbon Street in New Orleans, Louisiana—ultimately leaving 15 people dead. FBI officials identified the attacker as Shamsud-Din Bahar Jabbar and revealed he had an ISIS flag in his possession at the time of the attack. He also made several posts to social media in support of ISIS. The attack is now being investigated as an act of terrorism. 3:15pm- On Thursday, Las Vegas officials identified Matthew Alan Livelsberger as the man likely responsible for detonating a car bomb outside of the Trump hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada—though, they insisted they would not know the man's identity for certain without confirmation via a DNA test. Investigators identified the man driving the Cybertruck that exploded in front of the Trump hotel in Las Vegas as Matthew Livelsberger, an active-duty member of the Army's elite special forces.
