Brad Friedel played his college ball at UCLA and had a stint at Liverpool before a longer and seriously fruitful one at Blackburn Rovers. He also stopped shots for Aston Villa and for Tottenham Hotspur, where in his final season he ran into a guy named Mauricio Pochettino. The goalkeeper, who was capped 82 times for the U.S. Men's National Team, got a front-row seat to the Argentine's methods when he came in and transformed the club, and his faith has never wavered that Pochettino will deliver now as head coach of the American team.We talked about all that when Friedel joined the show this Thanksgiving week, but we also got into a fascinating early chapter of his career. In 1995, he went off to Istanbul to play for Graeme Souness at Galatasaray. Esperpentos Tarantinianos que cinematográficamente pueden gustar, pero que plasmados en una cancha de baloncesto pues nada más lejos de la realidad. Y si encima los protagonistas son los nuestros pues apaga y vámonos, para pillar la claqueta y gritar: corten!! Y ahí ya dejamos cualquier opción posible a la hora de cortar. La primera cabeza fue la de Bruno Fernando, pero bien podría ser alguna que otra más visible o importante en el banquillo. Paciencia sí, pero lo que comenzaba como temporada ilusionante se está torciendo de mala manera y ¿Que puede acabar muy bien? pues también lo sabemos, pero esto no arranca y las sensaciones a día de hoy son muy malas. Tras la victoria en el clásico en Euroliga precedido de otra de prestigio si bien el Fenerbahce no estaba en su mejor momento, han venido dos derrotas más en Euroliga a cada cual peor (cierto que contra dos buenos equipos y plantillas) cuando no contábamos que se fuese a caer el equipo de tremenda manera. Incapaces en 20 min de remontar 7 pts en Valencia e ídem en casa al descanso perdiendo de 14 contra Panathinaikos. A poco sabe la victoria en casa contra Bilbao Basket que precisamente costó más de la cuenta también yendo perdiendo al descanso por 4 pts y con ya más pitos que silencio en las gradas de nuestro Palacio. Que pase esto rápido, dos partidos que deberían ser victorias esta semana. La primera en euroliga contra un equipo que ha empezado muy bien la temporada y ya nos ganó el año pasado aquí, Zalgiris. Y visita a Granada que debería ser innegociable pero ya no nos fiamos. Después un partido difícil contra el hasta ahora líder de la competición continental antes de parón por las ventanas clasificatorias para el mundial.
