The Botched Execution of Tom KetchumAd-Free Safe House EditionEpisode 127 takes us back to the days of the Old West with the tale of “the Black Jack Gang,” terrors of the Southwest, from about 1896 to 1891 when its leader, Tom Ketchum, was finally captured trying to pull off a train robbery solo. He didn't know the conductor had been robbed once before and carried a sawed-off shotgun. Yeah, that's not gonna end well.More BOTCHED EXECUTIONSMore WILD WESTERNSBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/true-crime-historian--2909311/support.
Send us a textIn this month's episode from hell, an unlikely group of our Desperados is formed to siphon some gas and discover a mystery within a blue nebula.
Is Precious Peter right? Gorgeous Jimmy Gardner joins Ashley to break down the action at BattleZone's latest event. Plus Cowboy Cliff Rogers joins the podcast immediately folllowing his defense of his BattleZone Heavyweight Championship.
Last beer with Steve from Dos Desperados before their 11th Anniversary at the brewery tomorrow in San Marcos. He's got one last trick a single hopped IPA using nothing but Citra called Most Wanted.
Dogs and beer go together like peanut butter and chocolate! So, why not put them together? Dos Desperados takes their inspiration for their Hazy Daisy Hazy IPA from the brewers dog "Daisy" and just like the picture of the super friendly Golden Retriever this hazy beer is easy to love!
There really is no bad time for a well made Red Ale! While Reds may not be as sexy as IPAs or Hazys they make a really good pairing for food! Once again playing into the fun behind their beer, Steve from Dos Desperados shares his Ruffian Red Ale which is kind of an enigma because it straddles the line between two very popular variations of the style.
Yesterday Steve was talking about his secret to keeping Dos Desperados up and running for almost 11 years and it was fun. Today's beer was something that started out as a fun family collab IPA and changed into a fun light bodied but incredibly drinkable and flavorful Blood Orange Blonde Ale.
It takes a commitment to make great beer in San Diego to last in this hop driven town! One of those North Country breweries has been doing that and having a good time doing it for the last 11 years. Dos Desperados in San Marcos is closing in on that landmark anniversary on Saturday. Steve from Dos Desperados joins us all week to share what his brewery has been up to and we start with their love of light beers and their Palomino Pilsner!

Send us a textThe stage is set in the center of town for a showdown! In true western style, strap in because this episode is a long one - Patty and Sanatio were caught in the wrong place at the wrong time, now in line for their turn for an interrogation with a Magistrate of the Emperor. Can the rest of our Desperados help them escape before their destiny is foiled?
In this episode we talk with the global head of Desperados beer brand, Ligia Patrocinio. They are running a campaign 70 influencers with a combined audience of 30million. Ligia talks about the campaign to connect with the latin vibe of music particularly drums and how this is connecting with the audience on a global scale. The campaign could be a test blueprint for more brands in Heineken to add influencers into the mix of their major campaigns. The episode was sponsored by Dragonfly. Ashley catches up with Faroh Phunk to get his thoughts on his victory in the Tijuana street fight against Arthur Delgado of The Desperados.
Ashley and Peter are back from AIR STRIKE at BattleZone Championship Wrestling. And, depending on who you ask, it was a success. Successful in the fact that Faroh Phunk defeated Arthur Delgado of the Desperados in just the first challenge in his march to challenge Cowboy Cliff Rogers at Widowfest in March. There is no opening monologue to this episode. This episode picks up with Ashley and Faroh in somewhat of a heated interview. Later, Peter takes the brunt of a chewing from the Rednexican Arthur Delgado. Hold on boys and girls, this gets wild!

Find out Faroh's thoughts on the State of BattleZone after the unbelievable shellacking that Faroh and BattleZone suffered at the Hands of Cowboy Cliff Rogers and the rest of The Desperados. They also discuss how Commissioner Busby is doing in his recovery from being burned at the last BattleZone event.

While state leaders have celebrated New Mexico's "billion dollar" cannabis industry, more than two years into recreational sales, there's growing concern about the regulatory apparatus tasked with monitoring thousands of licensed cannabis facilities. A recent Larry Barker investigation exposed how New Mexico's Cannabis Control Division has only inspected roughly half of the state's more than 3,000 licensed facilities. Barker's investigation also revealed how some of those operations are openly violating the state's cannabis rules and regulations. This week on New Mexico News Insiders, Investigative Reporter Larry Barker sits down with Chris McKee and Gabrielle Burkhart to discuss the results of his cannabis industry investigation. Leader of the largest licensed cannabis operator in the state, Ultra Health CEO Duke Rodriguez also shares his perspective on the impact the lack of regulation is having on New Mexico and the state's cannabis industry. Yee-haw! Howdy Partners! This week, for no reason whatsoever, there is a “Wild West” theme to this particular “walkabout” episode. Paul and Eli are on the run from the Justice of the Peace and have decided to hide out in the woods and guzzle down their illegal moonshine. If the worst happens, they'll have to shoot their way to freedom! What this actually means is that the Cheap Chaps will be putting on awful cowboy accents, running around Trent Park like idiots and drinking a range of unusual, flavoured Desperados beers. It has all the ingredients for an episode packed with chaos and stupidity. During their epic adventure, they'll attempt to dangle from a broken swing, hold down that vile booze, abuse joggers under a obelisk and attempt a gun fight finale to see who is best sharpshooter! It's a hot day and it's all going to get weird and messy in this 2 hour 30 min odyssey! As Memorial Day weekend approaches, I want to take a moment to express my gratitude to all those who made the ultimate sacrifice so that we can enjoy this long weekend with our family and friends. I also want to pay tribute to an Oklahoma legend who began his career on the Red Dirt music trail before achieving great success. I had the privilege of meeting Toby Keith when he headlined the Mercury Triple Play tour with Shania Twain and Jon Brennan in 1993. I even spent some memorable nights with him at Desperados while I was in Billings, Montana. Let's honor our fallen comrades by flying the American flag and setting the Missing Man table. Let's take a moment to appreciate the gift of freedom and thank all those who made it possible. Next, we dive into the Diddy debacle - covering the recent civil suits that culminated in a raid by the feds this past week. It's 2024, and Kim has one thing to say to the haters, the naysayers, and the “Mad Sad Hags & Brads”… EAT CAKE (or starve, whichever comes first)! In this episode, Kim has one pressing question for The Desperados: is it Eat The Rich or Marry Rich? Because the same delulus that vehemently detest Oprah Winfrey for her riches think they can walk into The Baccarat Hotel and pick up a husband… BFFR. After a much-needed reality check, Kim has finally come to terms with the fact that she is not and will never be Marie Kondo. So OUT this year is cleaning, and IN this year is a better relationship with her cleaning lady. Maybe now she'll have time to work out, since her only goal in life these days is to look good naked. Her biggest takeaway? This year we're not asking for what we want; we're taking what we deserve.Timestamps for you

Mimimi's swan song, as we sadly learned after recording, is a follow-up and an evolution to Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun and Desperados 3, both games that we loved. What makes this one even better? Why is Len using dashes instead of colons to separate the show number from the game title now? I don't know if I like this.
