Bethesda Game Studios director Todd Howard – my first repeat guest! – returns to discuss Skyrim as The Elder Scrolls V celebrates its 10th anniversary this week. Of course, we don't just talk about this past. Todd also discusses his next big project, Starfield, and his next next project, The Elder Scrolls 6.
If you've ever read Bible and thought "hey, this is great but I wish it had dudes just unleashing straight metaphorical fire on workers of iniquity," then allow your humble Sons of Thunder to introduce you to Micah and Nahum. What these two prophets lack in verbosity, they more than make up for in sheer scorching anger. Just wait'll you get to Nahum 3:19, Theophiloi. It's wild. (Note: There's a stretch in this episode where Chris sounds like he's recording over a CB radio. It gets better after about ten minutes. Apologies, Romans 3:23.) Topics of discussion: Halloweason begins, an understandable confusion of two saints, The Elder Scrolls V: 5kyrim, some deep cut comics references just in case anyone was starting with this episode and needed a good reason to not continue, yet another reference to the Power Team, new Holy Ghost powers to impress the kids, God's wife, the Raw Bible Verse spreadsheet. Hymnal "Tramp the Dirt Down" by Elvis Costello, "Lay All Your Love On Me" by Stephen Mann of English Martyrs Church (https://www.youtube.com/user/Principal45) Offertory: As Enoch writes, "Whoever of you spends gold or silver for his brother's sake, he will receive ample treasure in the world to come." Skyrim. A game almost everyone loves, right? Well, it's complicated. This week we dive into the development of Skyrim. It's a wonderful game filled with so many wonderful stories and side quests but it also has a bevy of issues. We talk about it's engine that tends to feel dated and the code behind that engine. Like most games in Bethesda's first party catalog, it's marred with constant crashing and bugs (both silly and game breaking). So, you may not like what we have to say but who are we if we aren't honest?- Touch The Skyrim - https://bit.ly/2OgfMHm- The Creation Engine Dive - https://bit.ly/2OggyEg

Party member Erzo (Drow Rogue) finds himself alone after the mysterious disappearance of his colleague. However, he is joined by two new PCs: Seren (Half-Elf Eldritch Knight) and Lathandis (Wood Elf Cleric), welcome additions to the campaign. The boys, along NPC Jamna Gleamsilver (Gnome Rogue), get hired by the High Road Charter Company to accompany a caravan headed out of Waterdeep, on the way to Neverwinter... purportedly. The editing is rather tight in this episode so, resultantly, the dialogue is quick and steady. The caravan continues northward. Next stop: Daggerford. But before then, Erzo (Drow Rogue) is going to spend time intimidating passengers and use the nighttime hours to stealthily open crates in his insatiable search for loot. Mulinex (Elf Ranger/Druid) spends his time charming a young lady in a tavern at a Way Station, but is in for a surprise as to her identity. Two new NPCs are introduced into the campaign: a mischievous gnome quite adept at circumlocution, and a mysterious human wearing a wool hat over his bald head... hmmm, what does that mean? Listen in for some clues. The PCs depart Beregost, continuing on their northward trek along The Coast Way, eventually reaching Baldur's Gate. Once there, they check out a magic shop, then, via an intermediary, head over to a tavern to meet with a Paladin, who provides them with an important contact which allows the PCs to travel as guards with a caravan, soon to depart the city. In tow with this caravan are suspected members of the Cult of the Dragon, including a bunch of weirdo theatre performers pretending to be Adventurers. Intrigue, awkward NPC encounters and combat ensue. It's in capital letters for a reason: the brand new Xbox World podcast is our way of saying sorry for missing last week's slot. (Blame Jem for bringing in the 'flu.) Covered this week: Batman: Arkham City, Deus Ex, Elder Scrolls V and, er, Robert De Niro.
We definitely talk about Dragon Age this week. And Skyrim. We talk about other games too, but we will have forgotten their names by the time we play Skyrim.Running time: 01:30:33
The latest World of WarCraft expansion has arrived; and Kat, Mike, Travis and Justin form a raiding party to plumb its depths. Scooter also drops by to chat about the newly-announced Elders Scroll V and Mass Effect 3, as well as his expectations for the upcoming PS3 port of Mass Effect 2. Listening to this episode is worth at least 50 DKP.

It’s a four man show this week with Pixel Response’s own Paul Fleck joining the regular crew for some gabbin’ bout games (one of Nathan’s early ideas for a name for this very podcast, fun fact). Various games have been played including s’more of that Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, more Pac-Man CE DX and a dash of Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood for good measure. Not to mention Pitfall II: The Lost Caverns marking Game Room’s return to awesomeness. No seriously, there are actually quality Game Room games on the way. As to why, no one truly knows but we speculate a bit. Also, Sean has officially fallen head over heels in love with ilomilo, an adorable little indie game that is worth jumping through some weird hoops to purchase. Oh, and Paul played Black Ops, so apparently the servers are still up for that one. Then we tackle some news, starting off with some bizarre casting decisions on the upcoming Uncharted film. In short, we ain’t happy. We also examine some Mass Effect 2 stats, catch up with Axl Rose and all the wonderful things he’s been doing, and discuss some happenings regarding Sonic 4, the upcoming Elder Scrolls V, and Nintendo’s CES plans. All that and some random discussions along the way on this week’s Top Down Perspective.
Join Joe, Roger and Vince as they discuss Back to the Future, WoW: Post-Shattering, Elder Scrolls V, Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, Dead Space 2, VGA teasers. iTunes | Stitcher | RSS feed If you enjoy the show, please make certain to stop by iTunes and leave us a review!
