Alex and Luke Talk Elden Ring.In this episode, Alex and Luke finally tackle Elden Ring, FromSoftware's 2022 open-world epic that took the gaming world by storm. Directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki, with worldbuilding contributions from George R.R. Martin, Elden Ring expands the Soulsborne formula into a sprawling, unforgiving landscape—the Lands Between—where death is certain, but victory is oh so sweet. At the time of this recording, Elden Ring holds a Metacritic score of 96, solidifying its place as one of the highest-rated games of all time. According to HowLongToBeat, a standard playthrough takes around 60 hours (a complete and utter lie), while completionists can expect well over 134+ hours of brutal bosses, deep lore, and relentless challenge. Both Alex and Luke played on Xbox Series X, comparing notes on their builds, the moments that broke them, and the bosses that left them questioning their life choices. The week of pondering and reflecting.

This week, we are building our own open world game! By taking various elements of different games in the genre, each of us put together what we think would be the next big event in video games. Want to build your own? These are the categories! Story (not the exact story, unless you want it to be. It can be a story like or comparable to, share the same structure, or just be the vibes of) Combat System World/map/location Characters/NPCs Side Quest (again doesnt have the be exact, can just be structure or vibes) Collectibles Mini games Traversal Aesthetic/graphics "It" factor. A unique thing about the game that sets it apart from other games in the genre (e.g. nemesis system in Shadow of Mordor, base takedowns like Far Cry, etc.) And if you'd like, you can utilize 1 wildcard pick. This would be pulling from 1 singular game that doesn't fall within the open world genre. So maybe you want the story vibes of something like Super Mario 64, or the music from Persona 5. Something that you think would fit so well it doesn't matter it's not technically an open world. 219 Jahre nach einem Nuklearkrieg lebt FALLOUT-Protagonistin Lucy in einem Bunker der Firma Vault Tec und wartet darauf, eines Tages die Erde wieder neu bevölkern zu können. In ihre mehr oder weniger heile Welt namens Vault 33 brechen jedoch eines Tages Raider von der Oberfläche ein und entführen ihren Vater. Um ihn retten, wagt sie das Abenteuer ins atomar verseuchte Wasteland, wo sie mit dem mehrere hundert Jahre alten Ghoul Cooper Howard und dem Ritter Maximus aneinander gerät, die hinter Siggi Wilzig her sind. Während man die drei bei ihren ganz eigenen Mainquests begleitet, erfährt man in der ein oder anderen Sidequest mehr über die postapokalytische Welt von FALLOUT und Vault Tec. Aber ob die 8 Folgen, die am 11. April auf PRIME VIDEO erschienen sind, wirklich reichen, um dem Open World Game von Bethesda gerecht zu werden? Zumindest mit Anspielungen auf das Franchise wird nicht gespart: Was Steffen am Anfang noch Spaß machte, wurde dem FALLOUT-Fan im Laufe der Serie hier und da etwas zu viel. Wolf hingegen freut sich, nach den gefloppten Serie zu HALO und RESIDENT EVIL, endlich wieder eine Videospiel-Adaption präsentiert zu bekommen, die wert auf ihre Fans legt. Aber ob die Serie so gut ist, wie THE LAST OF US und ob man sie auch gucken kann, wenn man keins der Spiele gespielt hat, beantwortet Daniel. Hört selbst, bei BADA BINGE.
