Why Time Breaks When You Go Faster Than Light

If you could somehow go faster than light, time would basically break. According to Einstein's theory of relativity, the faster you move, the slower time moves for you compared to everyone else. But if you somehow went faster than light, all the math goes crazy — time could start running backward or even stop making sense completely. You might arrive somewhere before you even left, which sounds like something straight out of a sci-fi movie. Scientists say it's pretty much impossible with what we know now, but it's still fun (and mind-bending) to think about. Basically, the universe has some serious rules to keep things from getting way too weird! He challenges the conventional notion of language being an innate, genetically driven trait by highlighting its unique emergence compared to other natural processes. McKenna further explores the transformative power of consciousness, likening the hunt for arrowheads to an intentional act distinct from natural occurrences like lightning. This discussion underscores the profound impact of human intent and the shaping of our world through conscious action. Books by Nick Herbert Herbert's books, such as "Quantum Reality" and "Faster Than Light," brought quantum mechanics to a broader audience and inspired discussions about the interpretation of quantum mechanics, the EPR paradox, and Bell's inequality. These discussions, in turn, contributed to the ongoing development of quantum computing by fostering a deeper understanding of the fundamental principles and paradoxes underlying quantum theory.

We kick things off with a deep dive into the realm of FTL, an intricate world that straddles the line between scientific possibility and the realm of dreams. Amidst the theoretical physics, we manage to find time for a lighthearted chat about our favorite sci-fi shows. Come join the fun and let us know your favorites!Dare to journey deeper into the cosmos as we examine the groundbreaking work of physicist Miguel Alcubierre. His revolutionary theory of relativity might just hold the key to breaking the cosmic speed barrier. We then shift gears to the mystifying world of quantum mechanics, time travel, and a tantalizing teaser from a figure who claims to be from the future. Are his predictions about 2023 and beyond accurate, or is it all just an elaborate hoax? Stay tuned to find out! In the final stretch, we take a hard look at the paradoxes that FTL travel presents. These aren't your everyday conundrums, but mind-bending enigmas that challenge our understanding of causality and the flow of time. Submission guidelines can be found at http://www.TallTaleTV.com ---- About Tall Tale TV ---- My name is Chris Herron, and I narrate audiobooks. In 2015, poor control of my diabetes left me legally blind for the better part of a year. The doctors predicted an 80% chance I would never see again, but I changed the way I was living and through sheer willpower beat the odds. During this time I couldn't read or write. Two things that I had been turning to for comfort since I was a small child. With the sheer amount of stress I was under, this was devastating. My wife took me by the arm, lead me into the local library, and read out titles of audiobooks to me. I chose the audiobook versions of books I had loved such as the Disc World series, Name of the Wind, Harry Potter, and more. They brought my favorite stories to life in ways I never thought possible and helped me through the darkest time of my life. Once my vision recovered, I maintained a love for audiobooks. I decided I would turn my focus from being a writer to becoming a narrator. I devised Tall Tale TV as a way to help out all the amazing authors in the writing communities I had come to love before my ordeal. I created Tall Tale TV to help aspiring authors by providing them with a promotional audiobook video. A way to showcase their skills with the written word. They say the strongest form of advertisement is word of mouth, so I provide a video to a platform of readers to help get people talking. Help them spread the word. Vo vývoji je niekoľko zaujímavých sci-fi RPG. Bude z nich niečo? V 65. časti podcastu SHARE_talks hovoríme o očakávanej hre Starfield, sci-fi RPG tituloch a tom, či by z nich raz mohlo byť zaujímavé MMORPG. Rozplývame sa tiež nad bohatým obsahom Disney+ vrátane množstva retro titulov. Povedali sme si, že tie najkultovejšie si postupne pozrieme. Dnes do detailov rozoberáme prvý z nich – klasiku Barbar Conan. “Space is big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind-bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it's a long way down the road to the chemist's, but that's just peanuts to space.” Douglas Adams Seriously, he had a point. The amount of space in, well, Space is just mind boggling. In science fiction we need a way to get from point a to point b and we need to break light speed to do that. But we can't. So what do we do? We either bend physics to go through it like in Mass Effect or we go around (or under) it like in Star Wars or Warhammer 40k. This technological leap is massive, though and we will find that we have our work cut out for us examining its implications. That's why brought the big guns, Ed Horton joins Seth and James to talk about all things FTL in this exciting episode of The WorldCraft Club Podcast.
