We had an amazing time with Eyas in the lounge! She's a super talented local singer-songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist who's worked with some incredible Baltimore artists. We got into her creative process, her influences, and she even shared some of her favorite movies and TV shows. Then she wrapped it up with a performance that'll leave you wanting more — seriously, her voice and musicianship are next level. Don't miss this one — like, share, and subscribe!

In this episode of The Truth in This Art, I sit down with Jenna Balderson, better known as Eyas, a Filipina musician and producer based in Baltimore, MD. Known for her genre-blending sound that merges indie-pop, jazz, RnB, and folk, Jenna discusses the journey behind her debut EP, Quiet Loud, set for release on November 22nd.We explore how her music transforms personal emotions into art, creating what she describes as the "sonic equivalent of a collage." Jenna also shares stories about her inspirations—from Fleet Foxes and Björk to recent influences like Saya Gray—and opens up about collaborating with fellow Baltimore artists like JPEGMAFIA and Micah E. Wood. Plus, she gives us a behind-the-scenes look at Quiet Loud, a deeply personal EP featuring introspective lyrics, dynamic soundscapes, and a mix of high energy and reflective moments.Join us as we unpack the emotions, influences, and community connections that shape Jenna's music.

For this episode of “Inside Contemporary Dance”, I sat down to chat with the incredibly talented, deeply inspiring, Carlos González and Seth Buckley, who founded the contemporary dance company EYAS Dance Project. Since its foundation in 2018, EYAS has presented works around the world, taken part in international dance Festivals, and received various awards from prestigious choreographic competitions. As part of the company's manifesto, Carlos and Seth describe EYAS dance project as a queer company that supports female, femme, and LGBTQ+ creators. EYAS dance project honors and values physical differences, and transparent communication, and focuses on humanity as the basis of work. We discussed how these values are manifested in their lives, both inside the studio and out in the world. We talked about their creative processes, what it actually means to create a company, their call for reformation in dance companies and dance institutions, their vision for the future of the company (which also involved a shamanic drum ceremony … stay tuned for that…) and so much more!Book recommendation:The Body Is Not an Apology: The Power of Radical Self-Love by Sonya Renee Taylor.Follow EYAS Dance Project here:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/eyasdanceproject/Website: https://www.eyasdanceproject.com/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/EYASDANCEPROJECT/?ref=bookmarksFollow “Inside Contemporary Dance”:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/insidecontemporarydance/Website: https://www.insidecontemporarydance.com/If you enjoyed this podcast, please spread the love! How can we draw the line between what is inside and what is outside the scope of our decisions? Eyas Raddad, Research Fellow and Decision Scientist at Eli Lilly and Company, joins your host, Executive Director of the Alliance for Decision Education, Dr. Joe Sweeney, to talk about the importance of building the right frames for our decisions, the common attributes of the very best decision scientists in the field, and the decision skills that you can bring to the table at work to support your team's decision-making. Finally, Eyas leaves us with a valuable lesson on how to distinguish advice from our friends that simply feels good to us, from advice that truly helps us.

Falron is a city teeming with secrets. It's up to the Rowdy Boys, sans Khol-Uun, to investigate and prepare for their eventual meet with Elvenking Amrynn at the Winter Summit. Until then they'll have to deal with DM shopkeepers who keep pushing their Caverns & Serpents manuscripts, rough-housing refugees, a pissy Eyas, the mom-queen, a dead arm, Rodney the crap musician/craps magician, Rory with suit tails, deities named Tinny, and best of all, Kindar Kindarson Son of Kindar. Trust us it's one of those "had to be there" type episodes. Don't miss out! In this Memory minisode Ilana has a special job for 3/4ths of the Rowdy Boys. Eyas, Thelneous, and Khol-Uun are joined by a small team of Verakin hunters who lead them on a hunt for a famed Elder Elk, an ancient animal of Pursarheima (Home of the Giants), which lies north of Bjornheim and the Eastern Reach. Unexpected twists and turns make this adventure a thrill from start to finish. This minisode (which is longer than most episodes) was originally intended for patreon members only as a promotion for Rowdy Scouts, but we loved it so much that we decided to put it on the main channel. The Rowdy Scouts is a unique patreon exclusive activity for fans to do good works to improve their communities. This here mission was to introduce someone new to Dungeons and Dragons, so we selected two local fans who had never played to record their maiden voyage. Needless to say we all had a blast and helped spread our love for this amazing game. You too can help spread love and goodness through our Rowdy Scouts program. Just visit www.patreon.com/chasmquest to become a member for as little as $1 a month! You'll get episodes a week early, bonus content and art, and upon completion of Scout missions you can collect limited Rowdy buttons featuring seasonal character designs created by our own Taylor Haydel. Memories are released every other week as minisode companions to Season 2. We hope you enjoy these small glimpses into the Rowdy Boys' time in Bjornheim between Seasons 1&2. The Rowdy Boys are all together again. In this Memory minisode we are swept back to Bjornheim's Mead Hall where Rory, Eyas, and Thelneous are reconnected with Khol-Uun. After some delicious ravioli and mead, a famed Verakin pairing, Talon and Finn join the party. Talon's already drunk but is somehow able to convey key narrative points, mostly about the Resisters back in Treland and more information about the treaties of old. When things die down Talon has Finn sing them a dirge, Finn obliges and serenades the group with a song of the first Springtide, when the elves and Bjornson, demigod of the Verakin people, defeated Isvanja's army of giants and formed the nation of Veraheim. In this somber memory three of the Rowdy Boys have touching moments with some of the NPCs. Eyas and Abram converse about what it means to belong. Thelneous and Finn bury the body of Bishop Cullum, and Rory goes to the House of Healing to check in on Commander Leon. Memories are released every other week as minisode companions to Season 2. In our second memory in Bjornheim the Rowdy Boys begin working with Fru Ilana, a bloodstone warrior of the Verakin people. She is a young battle mage and uses her gifts to teach Eyas, Thelneous, and Rory how to use their magical weapons to the best of their abilities. As for Khol-Uun? Well, just make sure you listen to the entire episode. Memories will be released every other week as minisode companions to Season 2. Here we are, 8 months after the capture of Lord Protector Alistair and the Rowdy Boys themselves. Join Rory, Thelneous, Khol-Uun, and Eyas as we kick off Season 2 with a bang! The Verakin forces will make themselves known to the Trelanders at Avondol. Queen Reina, once known as Lady Reina, will use her prisoner Alistair to barter for freedom and land to be returned to her people. Will the Trelanders parley and seek peace? Or will there be a bloodbath? Fate shall decide, but for now we must look out over the edge, the edge of war. Eyas mostly does back end and infrastructure work, which gives him an interesting view of Angular. The panelists and Eyas discuss his article Data and Page Content refresh Patterns in Angular. Eyas talks about the most common mistakes he sees in using Angular, namely transforming observables and then subscribing to them too early or too late, and putting certain kinds of data transformations in places where they end up making the code a lot less clear. His approach in his articles is to walk readers through with trial and error, rather than laying down some sort of law. Eyas lays out how he deals with changes in Angular, naming the three best things to do to use Angular and RXJS correctly, emphasizing the importance of looking for side effects. His rule of thumb is that if the observable does anything other than the data it is admitting, then something is probably wrong. The panelists go on to discuss the usefulness of observables. The ask Eyas what the most common code smells he finds in angular apps that frequenly use observables and how he would correct people. Eyas again emphasizes side effects or mutation as a sign of a deeper problem, cautions people against bending over backwards to use an observable, and discusses the importance of unpacking an observable at the correct time. He encourages listeners to try out the ergonomics of AsyncPipe to combine observables where possible, and the importance of using observables correctly. The shift in Angular becoming more about learning RXJS and non-Angular things than it is about Angular is discussed and length, as well as the difficulty to relate Angular to other things. Eyas feels that this trend has taken away some of the magic of Angular. In fact, NG Conf’s annual survey revealed that the top struggles are RXJS and architectural guidance. The panelists emphasize that programmers should ask themselves why they are doing things this particular way, and to seek creative solutions using different types of programming, such as procedural, reactive, idiomatic, and object oriented programming.
