[ ATTN BELIEFLINGS!: Tune in to our YouTube Channel tonight (June 17) at 5:30PM PST / 8:30PM EST to chat it up with us and fellow Belieflings in the Youtube Live Chat during a video premiere of this episode!... it's a real fun hang ;) ] _____ It's late at night. You're driving a lonely stretch of forested road. Up ahead you catch a glimpse of something in your headlights. As you start to slow down you're thinking to yourself, “It must be a deer.” But there's something wrong. There's something about it that's not quite right. It's not quite a deer. As you begin to process what you're seeing, your stomach sinks. As the thing raises up to meet its eyes to yours, its disfigured joints begin to crack and pop into place, and with a predator's stare and sinister grin, it is eager to meet you. This is no deer. On this episode of Belief Hole, we dissect alleged true accounts of the Appalachian Not Deer and compare them to strange reports from the early 20th century. Join us, as we explore the hoofed horror of animal mimics, shapeshifters, and sinister imposters. When someone has achieved success, people don’t see the things that ran behind. The thoughts that came across that person’s mind, or the rocky roads he/she has to overcome. In reality, though a person’s facade may hide it, behind that success is a lot of trial and error. For this episode, we will meet Jason Horton — the founder and podcast host of Ghost Town Podcast which currently has 136 episodes. He started his YouTube channel doing comedy videos and now he has built a 130k subscribers over time. Jason also has a Facebook page with over 170k followers, Instagram and Twitter accounts which both garnered 28k and 21k followers, respectively. Recently, Tik Tok has been a boredom killer around the globe — all regions, races, ages, and gender are using Tik Tok nowadays. And Jason is one of them. You can also check out his Tik Tok account with over 14M likes and over 500k followers. Jason, as a kid, loved comedy itself. Way back in high school, he has experience doing theater plays. And the insane amount of experience in sketch & live comedy across the country has enabled him to find this passion and excitement to show up in the social media world. “And I realized I needed my own content, not just being part of somebody else’s content, which is great. But you need to have your own content. So you could get some of that equity, I guess.” But things weren’t smoothly running. Jason, at some point, has undergone self-deprecating. But it didn’t stop him from moving forward. He’s met a YouTuber friend who got 2 million views eating a cheeseburger — and at that moment, he started to ask “why is this a thing? Why are they watching that? Can I do that and bring people to me?” Sometimes, those questions we ask of ourselves are our stepping stone to do what we wanted to from the start. It’s just somehow concealed by our fear and self-doubt. Well, Jason believed he could do it. And so he started putting himself out there. “It really doesn’t matter what the numbers are as long as you enjoy doing it. But if you put work into something, you want the most amount of people to at least give it a shot.” People who are afraid of putting something out there are people who usually think that they’d be bombarded with negative comments, or none would listen to them at all if they come out of the social media world. But for Jason: “Not everyone’s going to love it, in fact, still to this day, I am inundated with negative comments.” But a way to start podcasting or showing yourself to people is to find that passion, that thing that you love doing! Something that excites you every day. Not something that would just produce money for you, but something that would energize your being. Because if money is your gauge, and your “passion” no longer generates income for you, what you’re doing would eventually die. “Yeah, I would say you know, put out as much stuff as you can. But with that, put your best authentic, real, for better or worse, self into all of those things and let that be the deciding factor… More you, more real. But I’m always encouraging like, there’s a lot of stuff out there and you should be a part of that as much as humanly possible.” Spare some time to pause and think of your “why”. The more genuine you come out to the outside world, the more people would be drawn to listen and check out your content. It doesn’t matter how much your content actually makes sense, but if they saw your excitement towards it, that energy and authenticity would be conveyed to them in many ways you can ever imagine. In this interview, Jason shared how important authenticity, energy, and passion are in sharing who you are to everyone. Jason’s story is inspirational and this episode is definitely worth a listen! During the years of Yellow Journalism in the late 19th century, the newspaper war helps to solve a murder. This episode is sponsored by the Ghost Town Podcast.
Why is it that we persecute those who believe differently than we do? Why do neighbors turn on each other? On this episode, I present a brief overview of the history of witch hunts starting with the early Biblical accounts of witches to the hysteria of the European and American witch hunts of the 15th, 16th and 17th centuries and beyond. People were left dead in their wake. This has left spiritual residue leading to hauntings. The Moment in Oddity was suggested by listener Laura Ann Williams and features a death mask becoming model for Annie the CPR Doll and This Month in History features the Jetsons airing for the first time.
