I've been doing my podcast for over a year now. I've been blessed with the opportunity to interview 60 amazing influencers. What a ride it's been! To recap, before starting the podcast, I never shared. My early podcast episodes were audio only and I even re-recorded myself asking questions in post-editing to sound more confident. After 30 episodes I started video live-streaming my conversations; which forced me to be more vulnerable. Now I'm 60 interviews in! Big Guests: 4 YouTubers with over 1,000,000 subscribers, 1 Instagrammer with over 1,000,000 followers, 1 LinkedIner with over 350,000 followers, 6 Podcasters with 10's of millions of downloads, 1 Author with over 400,000 email subscribers. And many many other amazing people! The combined reach of my guests is over 1 Billion! Crazy right!? I did an episode introducing the podcast. I did an update after 10 interviews, after 20 interviews, and after 30 interviews. Now... it's time for another update! If you're tuning in LIVE, be sure to ask questions! Thanks for your continued support! Sincerely, Jeremy Segalhttps://www.linkedin.com/in/jeremy-segal/ https://instagram.com/whyinfluence http://eepurl.com/gAF3Ib https://whyinfluence.com/getinvolved/
Andy Storch is a friend of Jeremy whom he had met 2 years ago at PodFest. He also joined the mastermind group and now he is a talent development connector and has built a community called Talent Development Think Tank. His upcoming book will be published in September. His personal podcast The Andy Storch Show is known for starving your fears. Andy is the host of Talent Development Hot Seat podcast where he speaks on topics about talent development and top talent trends, owning your career and life, preparing for your next career change, entrepreneurship, podcasting, and building a personal brand, getting the most out of conferences. In this episode, Andy shared his journey from how he started a podcast and how he worked to get where he is at right now. “And that was in 2017, I joined a mastermind group for dads run by a guy named Larry Hagner who runs the dad’s edge group and podcast which is a huge podcast. And he challenged everybody in the group to set a big goal for 90 days.” This made way for Andy to make a big decision in starting a podcast. He began scheduling interviews and posting on social media for promotion. Back then, it was never really easy for Andy to conquer his confidence but on a good note, he used podcasting to meet new people and build relationships with them. “I remember that moment when I told my wife that I couldn't believe these people were just saying yes to having conversations with me. And my wife was a former journalist, and she was like, yeah, of course, people want to promote themselves.” He has no idea that people take it as an opportunity to be invited for an interview. He mentioned that in his first years, he was figuring things out to which works best and get learnings from it. He also started to gain connections with all the effort he is pouring in to. “I decided to focus on that niche of talent development. I started the podcast, the Talent development Hot Seat.“ Andy started it in mid-2018 and his reason for starting is to have an excuse to meet high-level potential clients and he doesn’t mind who will be his audience. He focused on building a relationship with them and eventually, working with them. It was through social media promotion which had a huge impact on them to reach hundreds of thousands of views. Tom Schwab is a sought-after keynote speaker and a pioneer in using inbound marketing for eCommerce. He was among the firsts to use targeted podcast interviews as the foundation piece in a content marketing strategy. He is also the author of Podcast Guest Profits. Frequently, he publishes in leading business journals, blogs, and magazines, too. Tom is the founder and CEO of Interview Valet which is a premier white-glove concierge-level podcast guest marketing service giving the quickest method to authors, speakers, coaches, consultants, and brands to boost the advantages of podcasting. It is a platform that brings together both the podcast guest and host for six years and garnered 20, 000 interviews already. Tom has guested in over 1200 podcasts! In this episode, Tom generously discussed four things on how they do their algorithm in finding a good podcast for guesting. “The first one is the podcast itself. Do they have my ideal audience? Have they been around long enough?” Tom mentioned that one of the things they look into is the foundation and credibility of the podcast—if they are a good fit for the podcast theme and its audience or not. They also want a podcast that is committed to doing a podcast because as Tom said, no one wants to be a guest in a podcast that will eventually die after. “The second thing is podcasts, when you do a guest appearance on it, should always give you a backlink.” The purpose of backlinks is to give value in the eyes of search engines. Tom shared that they have clients that use Moz Score and Alexa Score to determine their ranking in Search Engine Results Page (SERPs) and then, adjust and do SEO. “Third thing is how much do they promote it on social media, or to their email list.“ “Finally, we look at the experience with previous clients.“ There is more to learn in the full episode. Tom has shared a bunch of tips and advice on how to increase the growth of podcasts for you and your guest. You can also check out on Tom’s website for more info. David Markovich is a marketer, community builder, and consultant. He is the founder of Online Geniuses with over 25,000 members in his digital marketing community. He is also the co-founder of 18percentcommunity which is a mental health community and CoronaHub which is also an online community dedicated to confronting the massive worldwide burden caused by the Coronavirus. As an expert in building communities, David shared some tips on how to create one and consistently grow it into a larger number. One of them is determining the right application to use for your community. “Anything under like 200 people, I usually choose WhatsApp. I think they're getting it on their phone and their notification provides better engagement and for anything bigger, I use Slack.” According to David, WhatsApp is good for those who are just starting to create a community because the features of the application are suitable for small communities. Then, you can switch to slack when your community begins to grow bigger. “Don’t charge. Get everyone in and then, figure out what to do with monetization.” David has testified that it is a disadvantage for the growth of the community to charge them. Many people start giving charges once they had huge members in the community. One reason is to avoid spams or to filter other stuff but this is actually wrong. Giving a price will only hinder your community to grow bigger. He said that he prefers a community free of charge. He practically does other ways to prevent spams in their community and keep high-quality standards inside. “There's a website called explodingtopics.com—and also Google Trends.“ Both of them are always being compared in finding the right keywords or content topics for social media marketing and influencers. The difference between them is the process of how you will obtain a trending hot topic. That’s all for this article. Check the full episode to get more tips from David. Ahmad Imam is the confidence and content creation specialist, host, presenter, and speaker. He is also an ambassador at Success Relations Australia. He provides a consultative service for individuals, enterprises, and organizations to determine which experience would add the most value given their profile. In this episode, Ahmad shared his strategies on how he reached 350k followers on LinkedIn. “I would say four things, number one, connecting and when I say connecting, I mean physically connecting as in reaching out to people within your target audience or people within your audience, actually pressing the connect button connects with them, but also connecting with them emotionally.” Ahmad mentioned that building an authentic relationship with people within your target is essential. You can message them first privately and set up a meeting with one another. “Because the magic of LinkedIn actually happens offline, when you build those relationships, one person at a time.” “The next thing is engaging. Spending a bit of time every single day, it can be half an hour every day, just scrolling through your newsfeed and just liking and commenting on other people's posts.” According to Ahmad, this is the most underrated among the four but it is the most effective way to create a community and increase your followers. You can be strategic with whom you want to engage first and how will you do it. “The next thing, of course, is posting. And since the video came out, content creation has blown up on LinkedIn.“ Today, there are many content creators who are using LinkedIn as their platform. We may perceive it as a professional platform but in reality, it is open for any type of creative content and medium. “It doesn't just have to be video. It can be a text post. It can be a text, an image. It can be a quote. It can be an interview that you've done. It can be an article. I mean, there's so many different forms of content.” “But posting is important when I say posting, posting consistently and frequently.” Ahmad discussed that the visibility of a post on LinkedIn takes for about two to three days only. After a single post, you will be invisible on the newsfeed and won’t get any promotion. So, in posting, you do not consider the content only but the frequency and time of your posting too. “And the fourth thing is building. Building a community.” This is the last one because you will be able to do this only if you have executed properly the prior strategies. Hence, it requires a great amount of effort to get through. You need to be committed to what you are doing. “If people are commenting on your post because they appreciate your post, make sure you respond to those comments. Make sure you're showing them love. “ “The idea is to offer so much value, that in their minds, you are the authority within that niche. And so that when they need to reach out to someone that offers a service similar to yours, you're the first person that pops into their head, and that's how branding works.” And speaking of branding, you can check out the viral video of Ahmad together with his friend and 70 people from different parts of the world that talks about branding through a rap song! Sean McVeigh has a great passion for fishing and archery. He initially created his website and YouTube channel which currently has over 11 million views to share his outdoor adventures, but they have since evolved into a platform for him to help teach people what he knows about archery, bow hunting, fishing, camping, etc. His first book titled Becoming a World-Class Hunter was printed in 2009 and released a second edition of the same book in 2014 with a new subtitle, A Bow Hunter’s Spiritual Journey. Sean developed a challenging hunt called The Map Reading Challenge — intended to push hunters to improve their ability to read topo maps and aerial photos to find hunting hot spots. His YouTube channel is entitled Sean’s Outdoor Adventures wherein he established back 10 years ago. In this episode, Sean shared his strategies on YouTube and how he reached eleven million views. “So, the big tip is when you start uploading content, be ready to be flexible and change your motion, your direction because if you're gaining fans in a certain area, and it's not the main area you were setting out to, you're either going to let go of what you set out to do and embrace what people are looking for or you're just not going to have the growth maybe if that's what you want.” Sean mentioned that his growth has improved when he started to quit his original plans into something which the audience would like to watch but is still related to the track. “... diversify your content, try some different stuff.” It is okay to have some content you wanted to share that is different from your niche for a while. Sean said that he’s sometimes doing home improvement projects. He discussed that even if it is not related in his niche, he makes it a point that he invites the viewers to check his main course at the end of the video. “And I really attribute it to some of that diversification is because I'm finding viewers outside of the niche right now. And I was telling you about that basement finishing video, I'm getting 10s of thousands of views on that for people who aren't searching hunting or archery. But when they find out that I'm hunting in archery, maybe they're going to convert to watching that content.” “....at least get one video go viral.“ Having at least one viral video would already be a huge help to leverage your YouTube channel—it gets promoted by YouTube and people will start checking out other videos from your channel. But this is not the main thing here. “Don't make it so much about growing and subscribing, but grow with the people that you want around you.” “As hard as I tried to be positive, and keep it positive, people still took it the wrong way anyway. And some people were like, lashing out at me calling me names.” Sean mentioned that he was hesitant at first to share his faith in God on his video contents because he is afraid to receive criticisms and judgments which will lead to the downfall of his followers. But when he has done it, his community became more respectful and supportive. There are more tips and strategies that Sean shared in the episode. Rich Cordona is known to be sharing great videos in his LinkedIn account which has gained over 15k followers! He is also the CEO and Founder of Rich Cardona Media which offers its clients a quick yet excellent work worth of social-media-ready video content with a theme of storyteller for the personal brand. Rich hosts a show entitled The Leadership Locker that tells stories through video-making and he has mastered discipline and leadership when he was still a Marine Corps Aviator. In this episode, Rich shared his strategies in using LinkedIn as a platform and how it works. “LinkedIn is not only a good spot, but it’s changing. It’s not as professional and buttoned up as people thought it or as it was. It gives people like me an opportunity and people like you who look for good authentic content. Like it’s easier to find now than I think it was probably a couple of years ago.” “LinkedIn is truly a great growth engine for anyone trying to build their personal brand and company brand through their personal brand.” He mentioned that he had tested on LinkedIn the different techniques to improve his videos, pictures, captions, articles, etc. “If you want to build connections, you probably want to build connections with people that are in your industry or people that interests you or people that you, quote-unquote aspire to be.” According to Rich, this will help you grow your engagements and increase your knowledge in the field you are taking. You are able to be updated with the topics and the personnel in the industry you want to be at. And when they visit your profile, they will know your interests and eventually might want to connect with you, too. Just keep in mind to make your account presentable so that they will have a good impression on you. “It’s a complete red flag for me, just for me personally, ‘Hey, I’m all about people connecting step one like this post, number two comment on this post number three, connect with everyone in the comments.’“ On the other hand, the common mistakes that Rich has observed on LinkedIn is growth hacking. Having tons of connections does not mean that they are following. He also mentioned another common mistake. “How to actually swap that is selling no matter how good the intent is on LinkedIn, no one wants to be sold to.” People on LinkedIn wanted to build relationships and not to do business. It is not like Instagram and Facebook wherein you can invite people to check your offers. It is a little bit more old fashioned on LinkedIn. “If I make a post, and people liked it, I always at the end of the day, go to likes and scroll down and if they’re second-level connections, I connect with them or I invite them to connect. And the reason is you’re inviting them to like your content more. They already gave you a signal that they enjoyed your content. So why wouldn’t you invite them again?” Rich also has addressed how he sends connection requests in inviting people. She works through one-on-one brand strategy and content coaching, consulting, workshops, and speaking to audiences at conferences and through a community of over 8k on YouTube. In her YouTube videos, she makes it a point to emphasize always her PPSS system in creating a personal brand. “...I actually teach this, I do coaching to help people with their personal brand... I call it the PPSS system, where it's Personality, Passion, Skills, and Story so, I do have them list them out.” Karla recommends her PPSS system to two types of people: one who is just starting out and the other is for people who are needed to be reminded of where they should be at. She mentioned that in order for you to stand out from the bandwagon, you need to align your content strategy to your personality, passion, skills, and story because that’s what makes your brand unique. “It could be like, I have a friend who's a videographer, but he's also a juggler. And just like those two things, if you mix it in together, he'll stand out versus another person who just calls himself a videographer, right? So just like finding those little quirks that make you different and really bringing them to your brand.” “...passions and skills, those two can kind of sometimes get mixed together.” People tend to give up their passion for a new skill and monetize it. But for Karla, you can combine both your passion and your skill. On the other hand, you can’t just be stuck up in your passion without growing it into a skill. “Then, really focus on your story, like, why you got started on what you're doing.“ Your story will be your motivation to continue with what you are doing. It will prevent you from comparing yourself to others because all of us have different stories. Check out the full episode to learn more about her works on social media and how you can grow your own branding through her PPSS system. Joe Raiti started Raiti's Rides to share the passion of performance cars with as many people as possible. As of this day, they have hundreds of thousands of subscribers and it just keeps growing! Joe caught the car bug at a very young age. Growing up in his father’s mechanic shop, Joe learned quickly how to appreciate the inner workings of the internal combustion engine. After graduating from college, he raced formula cars professionally for three years. He has a wide variety of knowledge on many different makes and models and is considered an expert in Corvettes, Porsches, and imports. Joe uses his Youtube channel to share his passion for car performance by giving car reviews. It’s his second time here in Why Influence and in his first guesting, he already garnered 22 million YouTube views and 86k subscriptions. And now for less than a year, he has made 78 million views and 258k subscribers upgrade. “The biggest thing that people have come to me with is ‘Well, Joe, this is going to be mega for you because of everybody's home. And everybody's just gonna watch YouTube.’ But what I discovered is when the pandemic first hit, I actually had a big decline in views.” It may be true that this quarantine period is unlocking the “free time” for a lot of people, and watching videos is one of the things we could do to kill time, but the truth is, according to Joe, many people are actually in a panic mode. They can’t enjoy spending time with their phone. They are all anxious about what’s going to happen next. As a matter of fact, Joe’s decline in views dropped by about 40% from last month. The quarantine prohibits everyone to leave their house and makes almost everything temporarily shutdown. As for Joe, his career involves going to places where he makes his car video content to share with the world every day. “So I went into this panic mode where I was literally every day filming about seven to eight cars a day to try to just build a treasure chest so to speak, so that, if our city, our state went into lockdown, I would then still at least be able to pull up one video a day and have some kind of footage.” “And now that I've seen how Florida has navigated through this because dealerships are essential, businesses, and because I'm classified as a journalist, as an automotive journalist, I've been able to still get out there.” With the help of his connections and while still following safety protocols and CDC procedures, he is able to consistently create and upload videos every day on his Youtube channel. And as the new normal continues, he is planning to make virtual car reviews through B-roll footage from companies as a basis. Joe expressed a big dedication in his passion that’s why it is crystal clear that he deserves the achievements he has right now. He is an inspiration to everyone who wants to succeed as they follow their heart’s desires no matter how impossible it may be. Elsie Escobar works in the cross-section of technology, digital media, and holistic living with a heavy bias on podcast strategy and creative use of audio. A podcaster since 2006 and was one of the first female Indie podcasters using audio to teach yoga. She’s behind the Elsie Yoga Class that has now been downloaded over 4 million times! She is also the co-host and producer of The Feed, the official Libsyn podcast. Elsie is co-founder and co-host of She Podcasts. She focuses on podcasts’ impact on society, diversity, and culture as well as their power to drive social change, personal development, and bring a voice to support underrepresented communities & initiatives. But before she discovered her talent in podcasting, she experienced being in different industries that eventually honed her to be a better podcaster. “I think it was acting... Being on stage in front of lots of people and sharing… possibly my first step was in taking the stage… and at that point, giving voice to other people's words...” Elsie said that she is already equipped with experience when she started podcasting. Back in her high school days, she is performing theatre arts. It was the first time when she dealt with a huge audience watching her from the stage. She had years to mold her confidence in acting. Then, she also earned money from it after finishing school. “And then, the next stage was probably … my yoga classes, my physical yoga classes. ” She handled several students in her class. It was around 50 to 100 students per day. She said that it started in 2002 until it became a podcast in 2006. “And then when podcasting came around, maybe I could just record my classes and then that way they can get them like I was thinking of my own students, and saying like ‘you guys, well, you can come to my class, but if you can't, if you don't have access, you can take me with you, like you've been asking.’" “So, I started to study up. I got a book on RSS. It really was a great book. It actually broke things down so well.“ Elsie did the preps — like having a website, recorder, microphone, a host, and set up her social media accounts. Confidence was not a big problem in her podcasting journey and sharing yoga classes lead her to create her own podcast. Then, eventually, She Podcast was created to articulate, voice out, and help women to overcome barriers. The long journey of Elsie towards podcasting was very inspiring. Her experiences were the initial steps for something bigger. Subscribe to our email newsletter to be notified of our upcoming live-streamed interviews! Jeffrey Tobias Halter is a keynote speaker, author, and corporate gender strategist. He is the author of WHY WOMEN: The Leadership Imperative for Advancing Women and Engaging Men and the president in YWomen - Corporate Gender Strategy. He is a member of board trustees at The Miss America Organization and a former director of Diversity Strategy in the Coca-Cola company. Jeffrey is already a two-time TEDx speaker. He frequently keynotes at industry and corporate events about women and helping men overcome the barriers to equality in the workplace. He is consulting from a high strategy standpoint, which is also making an impact on organizations. Thus, influencing organizations and their cultures. In this episode, Jeffrey strongly pointed out how you, as a leader in the organization, must reach out on your employees both men and women in separate. This exercise is what he recommends to large corporate clients. “...ask a simple question. Tell me about the experience you're having and do you think it's any different than men in the organization?” According to Jeffrey, invite the woman for a cup of coffee or in virtual and ask her some questions that would address her current situation as a member of the organization. At first, the woman won’t speak up and stand for their rights. But when you continue to reach out on her, you’ll see what she is going through. “...ask again. Is there some experience you're having that I don't understand? Or that I don't see? ” The moment she starts opening up, let her express her emotions. Listen. Don’t interrupt her with what’s on your mind. Don’t try to solve the problem. Just listen. “And then ask a third time. And in that third 10 minutes, you're going to hear root cause issues.” These causes might be from a personal issue or can be existing within the organization. Take note also that everyone will have different answers depending on what circumstances they are facing. Jeffrey mentioned that the most common issue women are facing is how they are being ignored in meetings. Men rarely encounter disparity. “And so this is where a leader says, I want every voice heard... “ Jeffrey also tells organizations to acknowledge introvert men, as well, by giving them some time to contemplate and patiently wait for them to speak up. In this way, they will feel at ease and valued. Jeffrey has tackled many other things to ponder. So, better check it out in the full episode. Nate Woodbury is a Youtube producer who’s currently managing 9 daily Youtube channels. He is the owner of Be The Hero Studio. His largest channel generates over $1M per month. All were from organic YouTube traffic. He has his own Youtube channels, named after his name, garners over 47.7k+ subscribers with 4M views, and 626 uploads. Nate has a team of 14 employees from the Philippines who works with him in the back end. As a Youtube expert, Nate shared in the episode a lot of tips and advice on how to manage your channel well. One of those was his secret ingredient in handling your Youtube videos. “...ingredient number one, you do keyword research to find those really specific questions.” He calls this as Leaf Strategy. This is about doing some research on what most people search about a certain topic before filming. Gathering all that you have collected and put them all in your content video. He elaborated this one by demonstrating an example in the episode. He also offers Keyword Research free mini-course on his website. “...ingredient number two, you want your episodes to be 10 minutes in length.” This is the ideal time length for Youtube videos because the audience gets easily bored if you added many things and didn’t get to your point directly. “...ingredient number three, you want an average view duration of 45% or higher.” One of your aims is to retain your viewers and encourage them to finish watching your video. If most of them fully watched it, Youtube will recognize it and recommend it on top of the search results. “And then ingredient number four, you post five episodes per week. And if you follow those four ingredients, for four months, you'll get a spike.” He mentioned that these things were proven and tested. It won’t apply to you if one ingredient is missing. It requires all of them to be practiced in improving your SEO. He also added a bonus tip in his ingredients — having a custom thumbnail design. “One of the important things is you do want to have a custom thumbnail design. “ Thumbnail is essential in advertising your video which makes people click on it to check it out. It is as important as the title. Make it compelling and interesting for people to click on. It does not require a permanent format. It can be changed through time. “You want your strategies like that to keep people engaged to keep people watching all the way to the end. And so, if you followed those four ingredients, and you're just strategic, you're mindful of ‘what can I do to make my content better?’. You really deliver value, then you'll get suggestive traffic at the four-month mark.” Nate has also discussed points on what to do and not to do in your video script flow by his example of ‘How to get rid of strep throat without antibiotics?’ video topic. This episode is worth your time for Nate generously delivered everything he knows about SEO and upgrading your Youtube channel. In addition, Todd was an Army Intelligence Officer, too, before his world opened up to entrepreneurship and podcasting. “I'm a former Army officer, but I think I was a lousy leader. And so, I started the podcast...” Todd mentioned that he used his issues in leadership to share it on his podcast in order to help himself as well as the founders to overcome it and be better as leaders. Then, he enrolled in Podcasting A to Z and learned how to start one. “And then over the course of time, we get 15 to 20 pitches a day now of people who come on the show.“ Like the other podcasters who are just starting, he also faced difficulties in maintaining the consistency. He experienced being rejected by humiliation as he invites clients to come to his show. But that didn’t stop him from persevering until clients are the ones who look for him. “In the beginning, I thought I needed to share my expertise. But in reality, I get so many emails from people who say to me-- ‘Todd, I love how you let your guests talk and how it's not about you.’” This put him into a realization that the reason why people are listening to his podcast is that they want to know the insight of both him and his guest. He needs to be a good listener so that he may give emphasis and deliver to the audience the strong points of the guest. Over the course of time, Todd frequently receives feedback from his guests on how they are being contacted by big companies who heard their guesting episodes in his podcast. “I suppose what had happened was some of the other media outlets were paying attention to some of the guests because I do also like to bring on founders who don't have a lot of visibility yet but have a great story to tell. And so, some of them listen to the show, and then their message gets amplified, and that helps them build their business more, which is very gratifying to me.” Todd has shared more stories in the episode of the impact and how lives were changed through his podcast. Truly, the podcast’s name speaks that it is a great blessing to small businesses to stay motivated as founders persevere and strive to become a CEO. Daniel J. Lewis is a keynote speaker on podcasting and social media. He creates training resources and producing tools like SEO for Podcasters and My Podcast Reviews. He also writes in his personal blog about technology, productivity, and entrepreneurship. His Youtube channel currently garners over 7.12k subscribers with 820k views and 158 uploads. He is the host of The Audacity to Podcast. The title of the podcast depicts having guts to do podcasting. The podcast also aims to share with the listeners the right tools in podcasting and to grow their podcast channel. In this episode, Daniel has provided us some tips on what should be given importance in podcasting. “...my top recommendations right now are for a microphone. Samsung Q2U. There are other microphones very similar to it like the Audio Technica ATR, 2100 and USB and there's now the new ATR 2100 x USB, yeah, you're using the ATR 2100 USB, there's also the Audio Technica AT 2005.” Daniel gives emphasis on the significance of having a good mic for podcasting and shared with us his top microphones that are high-quality but affordable. These are very fit for startup podcasters. He mentioned that everything doesn’t have to be perfect at the very start of your podcasting. The important is you have clear content and direction to where your podcast will go. Buying cheap tools is good for a beginner and then, eventually, as you go further, you can level up your materials. “And then for a podcast media host, I now recommend, captivate an advisor for that company as well…” “Then, the next thing is you have to launch.” According to Daniel, having an advisor can make podcasting better. It serves as your gear in media hosting, stats, website, etc. This would be very helpful for the technical part. He also mentioned that launching in a way that you don’t need to prepare first the produced 20-30 episodes. You can even start with a trailer only. Then, plan out the next 20-30 episodes. You can just list it. Again, you don’t need to record the first 20-30 episodes, you only need to list them down. What matters is you know where you will be going. “The other thing is to really focus on optimizing that experience for your audience in your podcast on the web.” Next, to optimize the audience experience, Daniel taught us in this episode how to use an A/B Testing wherein you will group your audience into two and you will examine what part they are interested the most on your podcast. In this way, you will know your succeeding content and the flow of your program. “So look for ways that you can breathe some new life into the podcast. “ Lastly, this tip is for podcasters who are lost in track and are out of ideas. It’s not really completely changing your format but rather adding up some new things. He said that you can search for new ideas in your podcast by joining events related to podcasting. It could be a Comic-Con or Podcast Movement depending on what you want to grow with. Daniel was so generous to share his knowledge and techniques in podcasting and more of these essential tips can be discovered in the entire episode! Dr. Richard is a Doctor of Psychology and licensed in Clinical Psychology. He is the Founder & CEO of Mars Industries, LLC - a psychological assessment company and is the President of Every Kid Rocks, Inc., a 501c3 Corporation - dedicated to helping children everywhere reach their true potential. He is highly regarded for his ability to integrate neuroscience, business, technology, and inspirational stories with fluidity in each of his talks. He hosts the podcast The Daily Helping is regularly downloaded in over 100 countries. His show’s growing movement strives to get a million people each day to commit acts of kindness for others and post it on their social media using #mydailyhelping. Before Dr. Richard made it through today, he faced different trials which made his principles in life stronger and more purposeful. He has mentioned that there were two points in his life where he witnessed miracles. Here’s one of them. “...my car struck that telephone pole had been a little bit further down. The car was absolutely creamed. And so had I been a little bit further down, that telephone pole might have crushed me where I actually broke my spine headed just a little bit higher, I would have been paralyzed from the neck down had it been a little bit lower, I would have been paralyzed from the waist down...” This is the first miracle experience of Dr. Richard. It was when he was driving to meet his cousin for dinner. The accident occurred when he made a left-hand turn into an intersection and realized that there’s a cargo that is out of control and will probably hit him. So when the vehicle slammed him, another one followed which pushed him to a telephone pole. He almost died but thankfully, he survived. His spine was broken. He took rehabs for less than a year to bring himself back to normal. “And I wish I could say like that was the moment and I pulled up my fist and I swore a law that I will never be a selfish prick ever again.” This realization came to Dr. Richard because back then, he only thinks of his own comfort and happiness. He only wants to get what he wants. But when he recovered, things were not easy to change in a single snap. He continued working in the corporate world and don’t know where to start because this is the life he was living before. He was afraid. “And the thing about fear is that often times, we know what we need to do, but we really don't think to take action until the pain is significant enough for us to walk away.” Truthfully, he was not happy anymore with what he was doing at work. He was just enduring the pain he was experiencing up to the point where his physical health was affected. Later on, that was the time when he got unto his feet and decided to quit. He doesn’t have a job but he had money. As he was buying food at the grocery store, he overheard two women talking about the behavior of their teenage daughters. Dr. Richard chimed in and shared his IT knowledge about keeping your kids safe online. That was the turning point of his life. The two women were amazed by him and decided to invite him to speak at their PTA. Then, he got feedback that he is good at conveying information in simple ways. “And so at that moment, I was able to really reframe what I perceived to be wasted time, wasted money, and useless skills into something that was my first taste… And I enjoyed it, and it felt really, really good. And that's what started the process that ultimately led me to what I'm doing today.” Dr. Richard proved that you can discover what you really wanted to do even if you think you are glued to a certain field. We often find the things we enjoy doing in the less expected circumstances. Subscribe to our email newsletter to be notified of our upcoming live-streamed interviews! Dr. Benjamin is a professional author, entrepreneur, speaker, and Organizational Psychologist. He authored two books and is a regular contributor in Inc. and Psychology Today. Millions of people read his articles monthly. From 2015 to 2019, he grew his email list to nearly 400,000 people without paid advertising, by mostly blogging on Medium. Benjamin always wanted to be a published writer. He learned early on, if he defines his future self, then he can figure out how to become that person. By defining who he will be in the future, he started having conversations that eventually led to his discovery of needing a strong email list; a requirement for many large publishers. Benjamin started taking steps to build his email list and has successfully become the future self he defined years ago. “One of the things about future self is that it’s not something you discover but it’s something you decide, there’s no right or wrong answer, you just decide who’s the person I want to be… it’s just being honest about who you want to be. And just choosing a future self. ” Benjamin wrote his first book Willpower Doesn’t Work where he explains that willpower is nothing more than a dangerous fad-one that is bound to lead to failure. The book was signed with Hachette Book Group and was released last March 2018. His second book, Personality Isn’t Permanent, was recently purchased by Portfolio, an imprint of Penguin Random House. It talked about topics of personality flexibility and how people can and do change. Deciding for your future self requires a clear vision and willingness to achieve it. “Your goals should be based on your personality, the goals you set and the life you build should be based on on your core personality,” It must also suit your likes and interests. Your goal must not only be because of what the people around you want for you. You will not enjoy reaching for it if it doesn’t make you happy. In the end, you will only feel drained and toxic. “The next step is to be in telling people about it. ” Share your goals, make it known. He added that your identity is based on the stories you tell. And once you shared it with them, you will not only receive encouragement but you will also gain a drive to start pursuing it and be accountable for the words you said. “You can’t learn without changing, and you can become a lot more powerful and more creative, confident, and you’re less limited.” After telling your goals, engage the present to the future. Start honing your present self towards your future self through learning. You can read books or apply for a course. “One of my favorite quotes is from Robert Perrault, where he said, ‘we’re kept from our goal, not by obstacles, but by a clear path to a lesser goal.’” Above all, expect barriers as you walk on your journey towards your future self. Take note, not just one but many will be against you up to the point wherein you lose motivation to reach it. So, be alert and stand firm in achieving your goal. There’s a long path you’re going to take which will be worth it at the destination point. “And so the only way to get to your goal is by doing your goal.” It’s not too late for you to start working on your future self. Everyone has the capability to plan and make. Regardless of your age. So, begin now! Dr. Benjamin’s story is inspirational and this episode is definitely worth a listen! Jacob helps podcasters get sponsorships. He is currently working with 20 different podcasts, helping them get and maintain strategic sponsors. He’s very familiar with what sponsors are looking for and how to negotiate despite possibly having very little current listener base. In this episode, Jacob has given us tips on how to have sponsors and advertisements in podcasting. “But ultimately, these sponsors are looking for good quality content.” First, let’s go to the basics. We all know that before engaging with something or someone, we want the best or of good quality. Jacob has mentioned here that sponsors don’t base on numbers whether you have a bunch of followers or subscribers or not. They are looking at the skills. They want those people who are really worth investing money into. But what does it take to be in good quality? “There’s a couple of more things that go into that such as a broadcast schedule… So not only do you need good content, but you need good content that people know where to look for, they know when to look for.” Sponsors do not look at the numbers you are in but they look at whether you know how to build your audience. Having a broadcast schedule means you have the platforms to engage with your audience. You have a strong social media management system. “Another big thing at this point in time is what they call syndicating.” Syndicating in a way that your podcast episodes are always available on different social media platforms. There are a variety of mediums that are possible to connect with people nowadays. Locate your medium. Make sure that yours are easy to find. “You’ve got 750,000 podcasts that are pumping out content. So you’ve got to find a way to separate yourself. You find your niche, you find what you specialize in, and you could probably talk best about that.” “Be unique,” is cliche advice but it is often one of the forgotten truths, and people often need reminders. You need to come up with something that when people talk about it, they will remember you. You have to create an identity that makes you, you. Sponsors want a fresh new idea that they can support. There are much more advice and ways on how to get sponsorships and advertisements for your podcast. If you’re looking for sponsors or ways to negotiate with sponsors, I strongly suggest giving this episode a listen! Mark is a podcaster, author, community builder, and entrepreneur. He is the founder of Purpose Chasers Community and Academy, and he co-founded the Purpose & Movement Mastermind. He wrote the book entitled Embrace Your Past Win Your Future. He was a former therapist but left his job and started speaking. That led him to create his own podcast and named it Purpose Chasers. The theme of his podcast is to highlight his dark past to help people struggling in their life overcome their darkness too. He wants his listeners to discover their purpose in life and have the drive to chase it. In this episode, they have tackled building deeper relationships in his online community. “When I’m approaching relationships… I’m seeking to build relationships. I’m focused on building value first.” What he means by seeking to build relationships is by still getting in touch with his clients even after the podcast episode. This is how he will build value and eventually nurtures the relationship he creates with them. “I would much rather have five deep connections than 500 people that have seen my brand, but they don’t really care about my work.” For Mark, he added that numbers are not important rather he believes that it is essential to build a deep authentic relationship with the people around you. With this, he found that his business got more prosperous and his life grew abundantly. “It’s not the money that makes or defines the man or the woman. It’s how the money is made that defines the man or the woman.” Mark wonderfully discussed how a person must be defined in relation to his/her treasures. This is not about the amount a person has made but instead, on the ways and process on how he/she earned the money. Before building relationships, of course, you must know the person first and his/her stand in life. Find people who are really heart-centered and that’s how you’ll make your relationship nurture. Mark has been amazing with his discussion and has given us new learnings. We must not only entertain our audience but also, we need to create deep connections with them and treat them as a family. In this interview, Mark shared his tips on how to build authentic relationships with your online community, treating them as your family. Paul is a professional content ghostwriter for faith-based influencers who specializes in making an impact. He has a podcast called Influencer Networking Secrets and he is the author of Business Beyond Business. His Facebook has over 1.8k followers and counting. Before Paul established his podcast, he went through an intentional distancing by reading the holy book. He, then, discovered that he needs to overcome his pride and unknowingly did it while he was fasting. Later on, he found himself doing a podcast and named it Influencer Networking Secrets. His podcast is all about unfolding hidden recipes in networking with and by influencers. Building relationships through being authentically true to yourself. In this episode, Paul shared his five formulas on networking with influencers. The following are: “What I want everybody to hear is you don’t have to wait until you’re in front of a dream connection to do this… Focus on the Farm Team.” Paul began on the fifth tip of his book. Here, he wanted to tell you that in your journey, you need to accept that those big ones won’t come your way immediately. You need to settle first on exerting effort to your local neighborhood before taking a larger step. “Be an angler… Be like a fisherman, right? … at angles, you have to cast the bait at a certain angle in order to get the fish to think that it’s actually bait otherwise the fish won’t fall for it.” There are specific places for business. You must know where you should network. Not all occasions call for business. “… keep your ear to the ground.” Keeping your ear to the ground means that you should be alert on opportunities ahead of you. It may be from a new friend you met or a close friend that needs help. Paul gave a good scenario here wherein the person and Paul both had a win-win situation because Paul kept his ear on the ground and recognized an open door for both of them. “Pro Bono Publicity” Everybody has social media nowadays. It is not merely for entertainment but also for communication and news updates. This means that you have a variety of social media platforms where you can do business. “If everything else fails, you can always still end up having a face to face conversation with somebody where you can ask them three questions that most people are not going to ask them.” Finally, the last ingredient in his formula is with these three questions: “What’s going well for you? What’s not going well for you lately? What are you looking forward to?” You can pick one only or two but the greatest of them all is in the middle. With these questions, you will know his problems and may be able to provide solutions through networking. Remember these five formulae next time you network with influencers. Paul Edwards has been generous to provide us with these tips and explained them all thoroughly. Let us know your feedback on the formula. Aaron appeared in 2,000 different podcasts sharing his voice and story online. He is a Professional Life & Business Coach, and Community Leader. Aaron has built his community which he called “Iron Sharpens Iron Mastermind Group” that helps and motivates ordinary men to become extraordinary. He is visible on Facebook and Twitter with over 3,500 followers, Instagram with 500+ followers, and a YouTube channel with 460 subscribers. He authored the book View From the Top: Living a Life of Significance, wherein he shares his journey and talks about how you are in control of your steps, that even in failure, you can adjust with personal grit to achieve success. “It's building those relationships intentionally. And people ask me all the time, “what would you do better, faster? If you had to do it over?” And it would be, I would spend 25% of my time every day, nurturing and building new relationships.” A lot of people have been struggling and some are becoming stagnant in life. Failure, fear and negativity devour their minds, and so their motivation and drive to move forward is becoming a blur. They would probably take a step, but it’s a step they take alone, thinking they can do it on their own. “I just want to encourage everyone to think, ‘Hey, I can be hugely successful, but I can be significant all along the way.’” But Aaron, in this episode, emphasized the importance of intentional sharing and how your story can transform other people’s lives — how joining communities can help one thrive up the ladder. Think of how you can make an impact, and the relationship you can build from doing so. “These relationships serve you well,” says Aaron. You manifest your good side to people and they’ll do the same. You encourage them, and you’ll receive the same thing, too. Sometimes, even much better. Aaron isn’t wiping out earning money from the picture, but he realized that money is just a byproduct of serving people well. Money in our bank accounts won’t last long, but relationships do — pure, genuine relationships. www.whyinfluence.com
Mark Metry is an author, podcast show host, public speaker, and podcast strategist. He’s the host of the Global Top 100 Humans 2.0 Podcast. Mark is also a TEDx speaker who just released his new book entitled “Screw Being Shy.” He’s also a comeback guest from Why Influence episode 019. Mark Metry, through his podcast called Humans 2.0, aims to help people eliminate their internal enemies so they can live a life of mental and emotional freedom. Mark’s podcast is having a real impact and is currently getting tens of thousands of downloads per episode with some episodes hitting hundreds of thousands of downloads. For this episode, hear him talk about some great insights from his book, the negative and positive sides of Coronavirus, and how this time is the perfect time for you to share your voice! “I hope that this time also just makes you realize how serious our health needs to be.” In times of health crisis where most people only see the negativities, Mark decides to look at it once again on its positive side. Many of us are scared of coronavirus due to the number of people who died upon being infected. Such a situation indeed is indeed frightening. We do not know when it will end, or will we be able to survive not getting the infection until it’s gone. Fact check: WHO said most people who died from this new Coronavirus (COVID-19) are the ones with a weaker immune system and with previous medical conditions. “I believe 9,000 people have died from Corona, and yet every year, 11 million people die from diseases related to a bad diet.” This is a great reminder of how important our health is. Not only that, but this pandemic also reminds us so much of the small things: washing our hands, stocking up food in our pantry, drinking vitamins and strengthening our immune system, eating healthy home-made food, slowing down, and spending time with the family. This feels like an awakening call for everyone to focus on what matters the most. “Whatever happens, happens. I don’t know what’s gonna happen in the world… Maybe we’re all gonna live in virtual reality. I have no idea. And so I think I just have some core foundations which are like mental health, psychological well-being, transformation, entrepreneurship and how that correlates with mental health.” Come to think of it — how prepared are we, individually, at a time like this? Mark gives us very resounding advice to focus on building the core foundations that would keep us firm despite these trembling seasons. Keeping our mental health, psychological well-being, transformation, and physical health intact are just some of the many things we could do while we are on a worldwide lockdown. “Don’t think you have to do everything. Don’t think you have to start a YouTube channel. Don’t think you have to record yourself. Don’t think you have to live stream. Maybe you’re super shy. And maybe you’re just a good writer. So just start writing, whether it’s tweets or articles or a book, or a document or a white paper. Do that.” “I think the biggest thing is to go with the path of least resistance when it comes to marketing, in terms of your communication method.” On a more positive viewpoint, this time to #StayHome can be a great opportunity for you to share and inspire on or offline. Take this time to evolve and upgrade to your 2.0 version. What are you going to do? What do you love doing? Everyone has a story to share. How are you going to share yours? Start from something you’re comfortable with doing, something of least resistance as Mark has mentioned. In this interview, Mark shared the importance of building a firm core foundation — mentally, emotionally, and physically — that would prepare us at times like this. Mark’s story is inspirational and this episode is definitely worth a listen! Subscribe to our email newsletter to be notified of our upcoming live-streamed interviews! “My business should be for my life. My life should not be my business.” Matthew Weiss is a Lawyer who graduated from Hofstra Law School in 1984. He’s one of Hofstra Law School graduates who landed a job in New York State Court of Appeals — New York’s highest court. Weiss co-founded Weiss & Associates, a law firm focused on vehicle and traffic law. Despite being a lawyer, he then became a filmmaker. He’s like anybody else who got a perfect career but still wanted to do something they are more passionate about. Matthew tried to make more time for himself and not just for the business. After talking to a banker friend, he then found himself wanting to film the story of Welles Crowther, the man who saved ten lives when the 9/11 attack happened. He fell in love with filmmaking. He filmed and produced Welles Crowther’s story titled Man In Red Bandana, which took him six years to film & produce the documentary without even having exceptional knowledge about filmmaking. “If you’re interested in sharing stories, make sure you’re passionate about it. Make sure you do it because you want people to hear the story, not because you’re making money.” It’s always that passion of wanting to share stories that make someone contented and happy, not just the mere idea of money. Most successful people follow their passion and money just comes as a bonus. If money is your gauge why you’ll do what you want to do, once you see no figures coming your way, you’ll stumble and eventually give up. It is important to start but begin with the right purpose & clear vision. “Continue being involved with a higher purpose. Things that will outlive you that is bigger than you and I guarantee you, you won’t regret it, and it will make you a happier person.” There is always a purpose why we live. We weren’t born by accident. And as we come to know what that bigger purpose is, continue to live it out and learn from it as people learn from you as well. Nothing is more fulfilling than being passionate and happy about what you do. It’s a hundred times better than forcing ourselves to do something that produces a significant amount of money but does not make us happy. In this interview, Matthew shared how important it is to live according to your passion and purpose. Matthew’s story is inspirational and this episode is definitely worth a listen! When someone has achieved success, people don’t see the things that ran behind. The thoughts that came across that person’s mind, or the rocky roads he/she has to overcome. In reality, though a person’s facade may hide it, behind that success is a lot of trial and error. For this episode, we will meet Jason Horton — the founder and podcast host of Ghost Town Podcast which currently has 136 episodes. He started his YouTube channel doing comedy videos and now he has built a 130k subscribers over time. Jason also has a Facebook page with over 170k followers, Instagram and Twitter accounts which both garnered 28k and 21k followers, respectively. Recently, Tik Tok has been a boredom killer around the globe — all regions, races, ages, and gender are using Tik Tok nowadays. And Jason is one of them. You can also check out his Tik Tok account with over 14M likes and over 500k followers. Jason, as a kid, loved comedy itself. Way back in high school, he has experience doing theater plays. And the insane amount of experience in sketch & live comedy across the country has enabled him to find this passion and excitement to show up in the social media world. “And I realized I needed my own content, not just being part of somebody else’s content, which is great. But you need to have your own content. So you could get some of that equity, I guess.” But things weren’t smoothly running. Jason, at some point, has undergone self-deprecating. But it didn’t stop him from moving forward. He’s met a YouTuber friend who got 2 million views eating a cheeseburger — and at that moment, he started to ask “why is this a thing? Why are they watching that? Can I do that and bring people to me?” Sometimes, those questions we ask of ourselves are our stepping stone to do what we wanted to from the start. It’s just somehow concealed by our fear and self-doubt. Well, Jason believed he could do it. And so he started putting himself out there. “It really doesn’t matter what the numbers are as long as you enjoy doing it. But if you put work into something, you want the most amount of people to at least give it a shot.” People who are afraid of putting something out there are people who usually think that they’d be bombarded with negative comments, or none would listen to them at all if they come out of the social media world. But for Jason: “Not everyone’s going to love it, in fact, still to this day, I am inundated with negative comments.” But a way to start podcasting or showing yourself to people is to find that passion, that thing that you love doing! Something that excites you every day. Not something that would just produce money for you, but something that would energize your being. Because if money is your gauge, and your “passion” no longer generates income for you, what you’re doing would eventually die. “Yeah, I would say you know, put out as much stuff as you can. But with that, put your best authentic, real, for better or worse, self into all of those things and let that be the deciding factor… More you, more real. But I’m always encouraging like, there’s a lot of stuff out there and you should be a part of that as much as humanly possible.” Spare some time to pause and think of your “why”. The more genuine you come out to the outside world, the more people would be drawn to listen and check out your content. It doesn’t matter how much your content actually makes sense, but if they saw your excitement towards it, that energy and authenticity would be conveyed to them in many ways you can ever imagine. In this interview, Jason shared how important authenticity, energy, and passion are in sharing who you are to everyone. Jason’s story is inspirational and this episode is definitely worth a listen! “I can save an entire family from losing their father.” Ben Killoy is the host of Military Veteran Dad podcast. He helps Military Veteran Dads to be more connected to their families as well as their kids. He has over 65 episodes in his podcast. Did you ever experience saving someone? Saving someone from a life and death situation, from getting a failing grade, being kicked out of the company, or saving someone who’s about to suicide. Ben has entirely focused his podcast with helping military veteran dads to be intact with their families. You might probably think how Ben was able to save an entire family from losing a father when he only does podcasting. “Be a voice, not an echo,” says Albert Einstein. A voice can entirely change someone’s life in an instant. By way of listening to others’ experiences, we learn, and by communicating, we turn our perspectives. Ben has talked continuously to military veteran dads to share not just to other military veteran dads but to all dads around the world about fatherhood. “That voice is something the world needs to hear, and if you’re holding on to a story that is super powerful, maybe even super vulnerable, you need to share it.” Our voice is so powerful that it can even hurt people if used negatively. However, it is a powerful tool to empower and inspire others. Never let yourself get eaten by your fears. Ben continuously helps people through his voice that creates changes that can be accessed by millions of people across the globe. “The world is waiting for you to go first. So that way, someone else has permission to go second. And if you go first, you can inspire someone to go second, and that is so powerful because they’ll take a step in their life that they currently are too afraid of.” “If you find a conversation worth sharing — find it, share it. Because that conversation needs to happen. It will slowly be how we start to bring the world back together.” Sharing stories, conversations, and knowledge through podcasts is such a great idea to create another idea for others. It is a tool on how we understand concepts deeper, inspire ourselves to do better, and build advocacy. Using our voice to share conversation and stories are more valuable than sitting and just listening to others. There’s nothing to be afraid of. Ben only started using his passion to help dads and now he has grown an audience and now has a clearer vision to reach out to more dads like him and hopefully journey with them to a changed life. In this interview, Ben shared his why and his passion in sharing your voice through podcasting. Ben’s story is inspirational and this episode is definitely worth a listen! Romina is a YouTuber since 2006, and an influencer with over 67k Facebook followers, 30k Instagram audience, and she already created her own Discord group called CreateIRL. Many people are live-streaming their games, making videos for YouTube and creating their own podcast show where they showcase different topics. If you ask many people about what they wanted to be now, most would probably say — to be a YouTuber. After some popular YouTubers divulged how much they make creating content on YouTube, it caught everyone’s attention — dreaming to have that flow of income while doing what you love. Now, kids have their own YouTube channel doing different stuff and thinking that they might make it just like others. “Just record yourself and just film yourself and just keep doing it and realize that nobody has to watch it.” Did you ever feel like you wanted to create your channel, but up to this day, there’s no progress at all? We all love the idea of entertaining people, sharing something, and making money as a bonus. However, the thing is that it’s so hard to start a YouTube channel or a podcast show. It is not easy for everyone. Not everyone who’s on YouTube is successful and that reality fears an aspiring influencer. “Nobody has to listen to what you just recorded.” No one wants to have a zero audience on YouTube or a minimal-to-no engagement on their social media posts. No one wants an effort to be eventually wasted. But the heart of sharing content is when you shared your content. You need to realize that it’s not all about money and popularity. It’s all about sharing your passion for anyone who’s interested to see it. You had 1 view, 3 likes, then be happy because someone appreciates you going out there and sharing your voice. Nothing comes easy in life and you need to make a tremendous effort to succeed on what you wanted and do not expect that your first uploaded video can entirely change your life. “The only way that someone will ever see what you’ve just done is if you publish it somewhere and that is going to be completely your choice.” Isn’t it better to fail because you tried versus failing without even trying? How are you even going to look at the possibility of someone watching your videos and recordings if you’re keeping it? How will you ever know the result when you didn’t finish what you have to do? “If you don’t do it, nobody’s going to see it.” There are many influencers who were able to build an audience from nothing. What they did is nonstop sharing until people started watching and listening to their content. How do you expect people to listen and watch your content if they don’t even know what your contents are? How do you expect to build an audience if there’s nothing in your YouTube channel or your platform? Always keep in mind that you will never know the result if you won’t start what you always wanted to start. In this interview, Romina shared how important it is to just start sharing your voice and passion to the world. Romina’s story is inspirational and this episode is definitely worth a listen! “I was going to quit. I was ready. I woke up and I said, ‘Okay this is my decision. I’m quitting.’” Cloris Kylie is an influencer, an author and a performance coach. She’s the host of a podcast show called “Beyond Influencer Marketing,” and authored a book with the same title. Most of us have probably experienced quitting on to something, and Cloris is not an exemption to that. Cloris thought of quitting as an influencer. It was discouraging for Cloris seeing no results, feeling that no one was interacting with her or not even one was interested in her works. “If you face a challenge, you should say to yourself, ‘It’s okay; it’s normal. It’s going to happen. This was meant to happen; it’s fine.’” Have you ever been to an edge of the road like Cloris where you feel like quitting whatever you’re doing and find something else that might work? Was there a snapping voice in your head saying “hey, come back! Have faith in yourself.”? Like many other warriors on the battlefield, Cloris stood up and recovered from that “quitting moment”. She fought until she was able to do what she wanted until people started listening and reading her work. Challenges are a part of life. It’s always there, and it is meant to make you stronger over the course of time. “If you make decisions out of frustration or fear, that’s when things start to get worse.” Your mind is clouded with frustrations, anger, and fear. You can’t think straight. Making decisions in this state would make things worse. There’s nothing good about decision-making if you’re doing it with a wrong mindset. Cloris almost quit, but after deciding to go for a long walk and cleared her mind, she was able to think positively and was able to convert the challenge into a success. “No matter where you’re at or what stage your business is in, you will encounter challenges. That’s just the way it is.” Trials come in many forms and no one is exempted from it. These are part of our lives. But the good thing is, you’re not alone. Everyone experiences it. Bumps are there for you to slow down, contemplate, and refocus your energy on what seems to be the most authentically right for you. It’s like life itself redirects you to the right path. In this interview, Cloris shared his why and his constant support to the game he always loved. Cloris’ story is inspirational and this episode is definitely worth a listen! “I guess if you’re a gamer, you’ll know what I’m talking about. You come back to a game that you love. Maybe it’s a game that you shared with your mates and had some really good time… and it stopped. I felt like ‘I’m going back and check that out really fancy,’ and it wasn’t that it had gone and I didn’t actually know that the community have banded around to rescue the project and said something up and I was blown away.” Gyle Cast is a YouTuber that reached over 8 million views through replays from Forged Alliance Forever. He garnered over 30,000 subscribers and already established his name in the FAF community. Mobile Legends, Call of Duty, Fortnite Battle Royale, Minecraft, League of Legends, DOTA 2, and Apex Legends are some of the most popular online games now that changed many lives. Many people gained popularity through these games and streaming their plays through different social media platforms. It has been a trend to many people over the years, but for Gyle, it’s different. Gyle has been uploading replays of Forged Alliance Forever which is a standalone real-time strategy video game that was released in 2007 by its producer Gas Powered Games (GPG). After GPG ended its support in the year 2009 and when they shut down multiplayer backend GPGnet in the year 2012, the FAF community tried to take over the support of the game. Gyle is one of the people in that community who loved the game and decided to help the game live longer by screen recording replays of the game. He uploads the recordings on YouTube for the community to see and encourage other people to play the game and keep it alive. “Maybe I could transition to another game, but there’s no guarantee of that and when FAF dies off, when the great people who work behind the scenes to keep it running keep the serve going to keep balancing the game and keep it, I really need that. They’ve had enough — there’s no one else coming through, no youngblood wanting to take it over there, then my channel is in trouble. Like that’s it. That’s mine. That’s the entirety of my existence and it’s held up by the work that everybody else is doing behind the scenes.” Despite having his own family, Gyle continued his love and support to the game. He never stopped doing what he’s been doing for years. He continued, although there are a lot of online games that he can try on and upload on his YouTube channel, he dedicated himself not just for the game but for those people who work behind it. Gyle did not only helped the game to be alive but through this game, he was able to connect with different people. He was able to be part of video game projects, and he was never out of the FAF Community due to his contributions. The game helped him build a more significant community around him, with people wanting to learn and watch the game. He made connections that were never there in the first place. Going to Gyle’s personal experience, the game became his moving on buddy after ending a long time relationship. It kept him busy during his moving on process and was able to cope up not thinking too much about this painful event of his life. It was more than just a game for him. Gyle’s huge advice to all people having doubts about sharing contents online: “ Just put it out there and see what happens. At the end of the day, no one’s going to come after you with a knife. Trolls are out there. It’s just about growing a little bit of a skin filtering out the bad noise and then working out what you know, what’s driving people, what they’re enjoying and try to give them more of that. Just don’t listen to the trolls.Listen to the people who like your stuff and focus on doing more of it. In this interview, Gyle shared his why and his constant support to the game he always loved. “I believe if you could help other people up the ladder of success — it's a privilege to do so” Chris Krimitsos is the founder of the second-largest Podcast Conference in the world called Podfest, and he is an author, business leader, influencer, and a speaker. Chris has been in the influencer scene for a long time and helped many people become influencers. “I want to help other people” this line has been used many times by different people, but in reality, many of us would rather focus on helping ourselves than voluntarily helping others. For Chris, it's a different case. Chris has been helping people boost their morale and helped them grow and become a better version of themselves. He helped people grow their voices through podcasting. “I always tell people if you can help someone, and it doesn't take a lot of time out of your day. It's a small amount of time, and it's a good person that needs a break. Why not?" We live in a world where help is not given, and you should ask for it to be served but isn’t it enough to help when we see someone who needs it? Chris is an example of a person who voluntarily helps without being asked nor being asked for something in return. He showed care for those people who doubt themselves and people who just needed help. He never asked them for anything in return when they succeed, and he’s just happy about what they t know that he had helped them. Helping is contagious, and as Chris stated, if it doesn’t take a lot out of your day and it’s a good person then why not? By helping we are influencing others to do the same. We mold the society that helping should be done regardless if they asked or not, not only when they asked to because there are a lot of people who want to ask for help but are shy to ask for help. You can’t just say “it’s easy to ask for help” but humans are different not because things are easy for you; it’s going to be the same for them. "Helping is not a chore, it's a privilege." Helping is a privilege, a privilege that does not make you feel guilty. When others asked for help or when we see someone in need of help, we usually see it as an inconvenience, especially when it’s not our boyfriend, girlfriend or our crush who needs help. We always see it negatively as if it will make us lose something when in fact it is a win-win situation. Chris expressed his strong will to help people, and that is why there are a lot of people who took the chance and decided to have their own voice through podcasting with the help of Chris. Chris also benefitted from it because he felt satisfied and happy knowing that he made a contribution to someone else’s life that is why there’s no reason for us to look at helping as an inconvenience but rather we should see it as a character that not everyone possesses. “Be kind to one another and make sure that you're having a good time and do good things. I think it is a part of what makes life special.” A Chinese proverb says, “If you want happiness for an hour, take a nap. If you want happiness for a day, go fishing. If you want happiness for a year, inherit a fortune. If you want happiness for a lifetime, help somebody.” When Chris was interviewed, he was so happy sharing these stories to the viewers not because he sees it as an achievement he needs to boast to other people but because of the fact that helping somebody makes our lives happy not just for a day but for a lifetime. Think about the last time you helped someone, whether it be your friend, family, co-worker, or just somebody else you saw while walking or driving. No help is too small, whether you just opened the door for your co-worker or you lend them references that they can use in work or when you offered to lend them some huge amount of money because of a financial problem or when you donated blood in the hospital to help those who need it still it is all considered as helping. Chris taught us to be kind, helpful, and to be someone who does good in the society. No wonder why Chris was able to attain such success and happiness in his life. It is because of the good deeds he has done to society. “I'll be more than happy to consult and help those people get started on their own. They won't need me in the long run, and I'm okay with that like most people tell me 'aren't you afraid they'll outgrow you?' Well, I hope they'll outgrow me; I want them to be successful; that's the whole point.” In this particular interview, Chris explained the importance of helping and being kind to people. Chris' story is inspirational and this episode is definitely worth a listen! Subscribe to our email newsletter to be notified of our upcoming live-streamed interviews! With his over 52 hundred followers on Twitch and an amazing number of followers on Instagram, he truly has built a strong community to whom he can share his story to inspire and let everyone know that their stories are worth sharing, too. Jeremy Segal just hit one of his major milestones of getting 30 interviews on Why Influence podcast! Prior to this podcast, Jeremy struggled to share; he didn't value personally sharing online. He was able to grow his business account's following to over 200k, but he would always edit himself out of the photos and videos. It was indeed a struggle. Remembering his first 3 episodes, he thought he was too uncomfortable and found himself re-recording some of the parts of the interview. After episode 3, he is on the verge of quitting to share online. But thankfully, here we are! Before, every interview was pre-recorded. But starting with episode 30, he did a live-streamed interview on Twitch - where he has 0 followers. You see, these things are hard to imagine when he was still recording the first episodes, struggling to come out there and share his whys. But it's just fascinating how Why Influence have come this far and multiple guests have impacted 100's of millions of lives, some 10's of millions, and most the rest are in the millions.
