[Arguable] Is Foreign Aid an Effective Form of Reparation?

Network Capital

Play Episode Listen Later Mar 23, 2025 49:25

Foreign aid and reparations are terms often used interchangeably, yet they embody distinct principles and purposes. In this episode, we discuss the differences between these concepts, exploring their definitions, the potential risks of conflating them, and the implications of such conflation.Foreign aid typically refers to financial or technical assistance provided by one nation to another, aiming to support economic development, humanitarian needs, or disaster relief. Reparations, however, are compensatory measures acknowledging and addressing historical injustices and systemic exploitation inflicted upon a nation or community. While both involve the transfer of resources, their underlying motivations and intended outcomes differ significantly.Conflating foreign aid with reparations can lead to several risks. It may allow former colonial powers to sidestep genuine accountability by framing aid as a benevolent gesture rather than a responsibility. This conflation can also perpetuate power imbalances, as aid often comes with conditions that may not align with the recipient nation's interests, undermining the reparative intent of acknowledging past wrongs. To illustrate these complexities, we examine the historical and ongoing debates surrounding the United Kingdom's colonial legacy in India. Indian politician and author Shashi Tharoor has been a vocal advocate for recognizing the economic and social damages caused by British colonial rule. In his 2015 speech at the Oxford Union, Tharoor argued that British colonialism led to the systematic deindustrialization and impoverishment of India, asserting that reparations are owed for the exploitation endured. Tharoor's subsequent book, An Era of Darkness: The British Empire in India, delves deeper into these issues, providing a comprehensive analysis of the economic exploitation and cultural suppression during colonial rule. He emphasizes that while foreign aid from Britain to India exists, it does not equate to reparations, as it lacks the acknowledgment of historical injustices and is often guided by the donor's strategic interests rather than the recipient's reparative needs.Through these discussions, we aim to shed light on the importance of distinguishing between foreign aid and reparations.

Let's talk about HOW we're talking about Diddy. Though Sean "Diddy" Combs is in jail on a variety of SA allegations, a lot of social media content has reduced his alleged behavior to "being freaky" - raising a larger conversation about society's understanding of SA, consent and it's complicated relationship with consensual sex. Our resident kink enthusiast, Queen breaks down how sex and kinks get harmfully conflated with acts of violence and SA, while J. gets in their Black church kid Telfar about the influence of cultural Christianity, domination & control on community concepts of sex and deviance. Also the kink spectrum, group sex, the closet queer to r*pist pipeline (that's not a thing), queerness and possibility, and more. SOLOMON SPENT more time building his palace than he did constructing the Temple of Yahweh. This week, we read the details of the home Solomon built for himself, the House of the Forest of Lebanon. Its size suggests it was used for multiple things, but the fact remains that it was under construction for thirteen years while the Temple was finished in seven. For further reading, here's a good article on Solomon's house. We also discuss the craftsman, Hiram of Tyre, who is not to be confused with King Hiram, who supplied building material and workers for the Temple. Conflating the two is behind the story of Hiram Abiff, a key character in the rituals of Scottish Rite Freemasonry. This is: Conflating value alignment and intent alignment is causing confusion, published by Seth Herd on September 5, 2024 on LessWrong. Submitted to the Alignment Forum. Contains more technical jargon than usual. Epistemic status: I think something like this confusion is happening often. I'm not saying these are the only differences in what people mean by "AGI alignment". Summary: Value alignment is better but probably harder to achieve than personal intent alignment to the short-term wants of some person(s). Different groups and people tend to primarily address one of these alignment targets when they discuss alignment. Confusion abounds. One important confusion stems from an assumption that the type of AI defines the alignment target: strong goal-directed AGI must be value aligned or misaligned, while personal intent alignment is only viable for relatively weak AI. I think this assumption is important but false. While value alignment is categorically better, intent alignment seems easier, safer, and more appealing in the short term, so AGI project leaders are likely to try it.[1] Overview Clarifying what people mean by alignment should dispel some illusory disagreement, and clarify alignment theory and predictions of AGI outcomes. Caption: Venn diagram of three types of alignment targets. Value alignment and Personal intent alignment are both subsets of Evan Hubinger's definition of intent alignment: AGI aligned with human intent in the broadest sense. Prosaic alignment work usually seems to be addressing a target somewhere in the neighborhood of personal intent alignment (following instructions or doing what this person wants now), while agent foundations and other conceptual alignment work usually seems to be addressing value alignment. Those two clusters have different strengths and weaknesses as alignment targets, so lumping them together produces confusion. People mean different things when they say alignment. Some are mostly thinking about value alignment (VA): creating sovereign AGI that has values close enough to humans' for our liking. Others are talking about making AGI that is corrigible (in the Christiano or Harms sense)[2] or follows instructions from its designated principal human(s). I'm going to use the term personal intent alignment (PIA) until someone has a better term for that type of alignment target. Different arguments and intuitions apply to these two alignment goals, so talking about them without differentiation is creating illusory disagreements. Value alignment is better almost by definition, but personal intent alignment seems to avoid some of the biggest difficulties of value alignment. Max Harms' recent sequence on corrigibility as a singular target (CAST) gives both a nice summary and detailed arguments. We do not need us to point to or define values, just short term preferences or instructions. The principal advantage is that an AGI that follows instructions can be used as a collaborator in improving its alignment over time; you don't need to get it exactly right on the first try. This is more helpful in slower and more continuous takeoffs. This means that PI alignment has a larger basin of attraction than value alignment does.[3] Most people who think alignment is fairly achievable seem to be thinking of PIA, while critics often respond thinking of value alignment. It would help to be explicit. PIA is probably easier and more likely than full VA for our first stabs at AGI, but there are reasons to wonder if it's adequate for real success. In particular, there are intuitions and arguments that PIA doesn't address the real problem of AGI alignment. I think PIA does address the real problem, but in a non-obvious and counterintuitive way. Another unstated divide There's another important clustering around these two conceptions of alignment. Peop...

Have you mapped out Your Yoga Business? This week we talk to Ava Taylor, founder of Yama Talent, creator of so many things within this industry, and author of the new book Your Yoga Business—which tells you how she did it and you can to.My favorite part is that she is the true Queen of real talk about the yoga industry. She talks about how long it takes to make yoga a full-time gig, how to market your retreat, and how to build the life you want as a yoga professional. And there is no shame here. We deserve to make sustainable incomes. Ava tells us how.KEY TAKEAWAYS: (there are lots in this episode)*Our brains tell us garbage about our businesses sometimes. Running numbers and making spreadsheets (or downloading them from online) is a great way to manage your emotions, and understand how to achieve your goals as a pro.*No one skips the groundwork for being a yoga professional. There is truly some wisdom in understanding that having a room of only a few people, having a workshop or retreat that doesn't go forward, and putting lots of work into a small outcome is normal. Nobody skips this stage.*Now is the time to build the business of your dreams. If you have a plan in place, then run. Don't walk towards your goals.*The landscape of yoga changed so dramatically from COVID, and it is important that we acknowledge and grieve, but also plan. If not us, there is no doubt that chains will move to take up the slack that we aren't taking.*In your community there are opportunities to capitalize on based on the loss the yoga industry experienced. If not you, then who? Can you identify those opportunities? Can you create collaborations and build something new in your area? These are conversations worth having, especially now as we plan for the new year.*Radical wealth redistribution. That is the name of my game and the game of all of us who are looking to take the money of the few and redistribute it to the many. As I have said a thousand times, nothing bad happens when good people have more money. Don't believe me? Go looking for good people doing good with their money. You won't have to search far. *Conflating your fear of growth and change with yoga philosophy is a huge challenge we have as an industry. I used to do this too. Your fear of failure, of success, of trying something that might not work out–that can be hidden by our yoga philosophy. Be careful to make sure you know your core values as a person, as a yoga practitioner, and as a human, and then identify when fear is getting in your way vs. when something doesn't line up with your values. Honestly, this is one of the best things you can do for your heart, your nervous system, and your bottom line.*If you don't need to hustle, don't hustle unless you want to. But please don't knock those of us who need to make a living at this job. We need your help to lift all of us up.*And finally, Please don't price based on what other people price. You need to gauge your own expenses and financial goals and then price based on that. Not what other people charge.RESOURCESWorking In Yoga WebsiteWorking In Yoga NewsletterAVA'S LINKS:Ava's WebsiteHer damn good book, Your Yoga BusinessSPONSORSunlight Streams Blog

Often times, we conflate knowledge with action, which leads to us ignoring what we already know and continuously searching for "the answer," even thought what we really need is to take action. In this mini moment I'll help you see how you might be holding yourself back by seeking knowledge instead of taking action, and how it all comes down to your decisions.   Our Favorite Quotes "Too often we end up rolling our eyes at certian things simply because we know them or have heard them before, and thus we almost discredit them and keep searching for the answer elsewhere. We're conflating knowledge with action."   Thanks for listening, and if you like what you've heard, I would greatly appreciate you shaing this episode with your friends or on your Instagram stories (and tag @laptop.lifestyle.co)! In our confusing world, love and intimacy often get mixed up, leading to misguided connections that harm rather than nurture. To solve this, we're called to love one another, but our understanding of love is cloudy. The New Testament suggests that drawing close to Jesus can clear this confusion and transform us. The Church should then become a sanctuary of healthy intimacy in a world marked by loneliness and brokenness, especially for those in need. Achieving self-sacrificing love involves emulating God, adopting a new self, and aligning our minds with His will through an intimate connection with Him.

Jiminy have been weaving their way through the music scene by deconstructing genre tropesand reassembling them into catchy dance songs. An international collective based in Brooklynand led by songwriter Jimmy Harris from his experience writing Electronic, Rock, and ChamberPop music, they have cultivated a unique and intriguing sound. This latest incarnation manifestsin the macabre dance magic that is Apocalypse Dance Party, and this time around they invitetheir audience to dance like there is no tomorrow. With natural disasters, the pandemic, humanity at the mercy of technology, and the existentialthreats of nuclear war and global warming, it is understandable to feel humanity has passed thepoint of no return. With Apocalypse Dance Party, Jiminy has channeled these modern and age-old anxieties into a set of overlapping dance tracks. The festivities start with a devil-may-careattitude and grow progressively darker in tone and serious in subject matter. The Apocalypse Dance Party begins with a killer dance party track that does a brilliant job ofrepresenting the chaotic excitement that came from feeling like the world was coming to anend. “Conflating paradise and hell, celebration and destruction, is the point,” he said. “Thevisual of calamari pouring down from a tsunami is atrocious and absurd, with a hint of socialsatire bubbling up.”It was this idea that led Jiminy to his Apocalyptic new album. “People are endlessly fascinated by the idea of the world ending,” Jiminy said. “It's a reflection of our collective fears, and maybe also a desire for control in an unpredictable world. I find it interesting that generations throughout recorded history have their own versions. The end of all time is a never-ending story, found in ancient mythology and prevalent in Pop Culture.”Introduced by our paradise-weary narrator, the dance set explores increasingly darksoundscapes and subjects, all guiding you towards one main idea. “What is the point of life ifit's all coming to an end? Is that where meaning is found - in the here and now? If the worldwere truly ending, what would you do?” The answer may just be this: scream and cheer at thesame time, and dance like there is no tomorrow. In other words, if we're going down, we'regetting down.Following the release of Apocalypse Dance Party, Jiminy is excited for two big things. The first isthe sequential release of videos to go along with each song on the album, something hisaudience can look forward to soon. The second is being able to take a breather and enjoy thesummer. “I already have an idea on what the next album is going to look like, but I really like tolet things like this simmer,” he explained. While we wait for the next exciting project to come from Jiminy, there is a collection of his earlier works to check out and a full social media to keep up with.Be sure to stay tuned in to Jiminy on various platforms for new music, visuals and social posts.Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100086478403570Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/accounts/who_can_see_your_content/Tik Tok: https://www.tiktok.com/@jiminybandSpotify: https://open.spotify.com/artist/0dvsk2vrblx4c5ct9wyjaz?si=z4lvathfqgw4lz5uwcxgxqDistrokid: https://distrokid.com/hyperfollow/jiminy1/apocalypse-dance-party

He highlights the misconception that lower sales volume is solely due to lower demand, when in reality, it can be attributed to a lack of inventory. Hartman explains that the market has experienced a decline in sales volume, but not significant pricing changes. Additionally, he points out that the focus of discussions in the real estate market is primarily on prices rather than rental yields and income. Hartman emphasizes the significance of considering rental income when making investment decisions. He also highlights the alarmingly low housing inventory, with only 420,000 homes for sale in the United States, creating a shortage. Finally, Hartman briefly touches on adjustable rate mortgages, stating that they are becoming more attractive to buyers in the current market. Understanding the workings of adjustable rate mortgages is crucial for those considering this option. #ArtificialIntelligence #AI #futureofwork #jobdisplacement #UBI #technology   Key Takeaways: 1:22 Cruising along the Danube River 3:00 Ai, Large Language Model (LLM) and the jobs lost and created 6:45 Universal Basic Income (UBI) and the deflationary and inflationary forces 10:05 Let us know your thoughts https://www.jasonhartman.com/ask 10:57 Concerns about generative Ai and the upcoming industry of Prompt Engineering 12:56 From Ice bath to blood bath: California  struggles with inventory 15:37 Coco in bed- bringing cheer to many! 16:31 California numbers below the 2022 and 2021 levels 17:31 Conflating sales volume versus sales prices 22:18 US SFR Total Available Inventory - Weekly, By Year 24:27 5 major factors of Adjustable Rate Mortgages 30:00 Empowered investor Pro meeting - Hybrid Property management   Mentioned: Altos Research   Follow Jason on TWITTER, INSTAGRAM & LINKEDIN Twitter.com/JasonHartmanROI Instagram.com/jasonhartman1/ Linkedin.com/in/jasonhartmaninvestor/ Call our Investment Counselors at: 1-800-HARTMAN (US) or visit: https://www.jasonhartman.com/ Free Class:  Easily get up to $250,000 in funding for real estate, business or anything else: http://JasonHartman.com/Fund CYA Protect Your Assets, Save Taxes & Estate Planning: http://JasonHartman.com/Protect Get wholesale real estate deals for investment or build a great business – Free Course: https://www.jasonhartman.com/deals Special Offer from Ron LeGrand: https://JasonHartman.com/Ron Free Mini-Book on Pandemic Investing: https://www.PandemicInvesting.com

Today I open with my thoughts on emotional responses when we some are holding onto their “facts” by a thin thread. With that in mind, when it comes to the upcoming presidential primaries, no one is owed the nomination, health debate is good and once we have a winner, we all have to work together to get a Constitutionalist elected as President. I want to thank Sam Janey aka PolitiBunny for these wise thoughts. We then spend the bulk of the show talking about the findings from two completely different FOIA requests. First, the Heritage Foundation revealed a staggering finding that the Department of Homeland Security has been awarding grants to entities who are finding ways to conflate conservatism with domestic terrorism. How long have I been saying they are trying to chip away at the Bill of Rights by linking certain Amendments with criminal behavior. The presentation made by the University of Dayton back in 2021 shows you just how long this government censorship program has been in place. Next we look at how the America First Legal lawsuit against the US State Department gave them documents from the Global Engagement Center (GEC), exposing how “private” media organizations carry out State propaganda. Everything I have ever told you about how the Legacy/mainstream media is nothing more than the propaganda arm of the Left is confirmed in those documents. And, what's more, social media falls under the same deceitful tactics employed by our weaponized Executive Branch. On top of all that, President Biden just released an announcement on video saying the U.S. government agencies will take over “100 bold and unprecedented actions” to fight hate and antisemitism. It's impossible not to see the terrifying ramifications of that statement in light of the two different programs our government has been implementing. The weaponization of the government to go after it's political opposition is about to ramp up several more degrees. Our one potential bright spot in so much rot and corruption is a small rumbling we are picking up from pockets of self-described super pro choice Leftists, who are finding themselves considering voting Republican because of how badly gender ideology is affecting their children. Transgenderism, in essence, nullifies all of the work done by both the women's movement and the gay marriage movement. If there are no sexes and all sex is simply made up and fluid, then there is no women's movement and there is no same-sex marriage. And, while Transgenderism is nullifying that, many are starting to see how they are coming after our innocent children. It's not a full-blown movement, yet, but it's something to foster in our ongoing discussions both here and among our friends and families. Oftentimes when we lose a game we feel like we failed. The same is true when we win: we feel like we succeeded. This, however, wrongly conflates success/failure with winning/losing. Here is the thing, though, you can fail completely and still win and you can 100% succeed and still lose. Think of a pro match at the highest level. All players are highly skilled and can hit all the shots, so to speak. Yet one team wins and one team loses. Every single match ends like this. Is that a failure by the losing team? Perhaps the losing team did everything they could to their best of their ability (a success) yet still lost. It may help to think of it like this. You and your partner are very good 3.5 players. Across the net are two 2.5 players who have trouble hitting the ball over the net. You can play your worst game this year and still win. And they can do everything within their power as well as they can and still lose. The winning by your team and the losing by the other team tells us nothing about how you played. Or about how they played. It actually provides wrong information if used as a performance metric as it says your team did good and the other team did not. When the reality is completely opposite. The win/loss column is a result - nothing more. Success/failure, on the other hand relates to how you played and your execution of your game plan that day. It revolves around your process. Conflating win/loss with success/failure can lead you to reach the wrong conclusions about your play and, importantly, your improvement as a player. R. Kivelevitz begins by analyzing the superficial features of the formalities which trivialize true love and intimacy, and decries how these special days are often exploited by those merely seeking fleeting encounters. On the other hand, Prof. Juni argues in favor of programmed “closeness rituals” as he points out that the beauty of meaningful relationships is often lost in the routine of daily activities. The essence and function of intimacy and close relationships are analyzed from the perspectives of social Marxism and family economics. Basic theoretical divides are elaborated by the discussants: From the Freudian notion that all relationships are merely means to self-serving ends – to the stance of Ego Psychology which maintains that intimacy and love are basic human needs in of themselves – to Existentialist Humanism which view life without meaningful relationships as inherently empty. R. Kivelevitz extends the analysis to man's relationship to Hashem, citing primal Kabalistic sources which conflate human intimacy themes with the sublime – which Juni interprets as sublimation from the psychoanalytic perspective. Dr. Juni finds a parallel in the Mormon approach to religious experience, citing studies from Brigham Young University about the experience of personal relationships to G-d. Juni stresses the function of routines which express verbally and demonstratively the positivity between individuals, stressing that leaving these feelings in the implicit realm is a disservice to all and diminished the quality of relationships across the board. Prof. Juni is one of the foremost research psychologists in the world today. He has published ground-breaking original research in seventy different peer reviewed journals and is cited continuously with respect by colleagues and experts in the field who have built on his theories and observations. He studied in Yeshivas Chaim Berlin under Rav Yitzchack Hutner, and in Yeshiva University as a Talmid of Rav Joseph Dov Soloveitchick. More Biden DOJ leaks and a media still conflating news to fit their narrative

Before I get to the meat of today's show, I did have to open with more examples of the dangers of magic-thinking on behalf of our elected (or appointed) leaders. The EU, after embracing short-sighted energy policies, are asking people to limit their use of electricity or gas in order to (where have you heard this before) flatten the curve. Chinese spy banger, Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) mocked Governor Abbott of Texas two months ago for daring to allow people to leave their thermostats unchecked. Today, he begs Californians to bend to the yoke of Governor Newsome's energy restrictions in order to avoid rolling blackouts. Magic-thinking is on full display for all to see. But, that isn't my main topic today. Because our Legacy/mainstream media is full of people who are too dumb to ask questions or to realize their own ignorance, I have to fix some grave errors surrounding yet another Biden DOJ leak. With both breathless and reckless abandon, the news is all aflutter with word of documents seized from Mar-a-Lago contain documentation of a “foreign government's nuclear capabilities.” This morning, CBS reporter Catherine Herridge, who should know better, made several grievous errors by conflating information and misrepresenting more. While doing so, if you listen carefully, the story is filled with caveats and CYA language to provide cover when they turn out to be wrong. “Unidentified sources”, “may”, “could”, “might”, “potentially”, “unconfirmed” etc… This latest leak follows on the heals of what Judge Cannon cited in her 24 page ruling as yet another reason for the appointment of a Special Master to review the seized documents and items from Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago home. The leaks are designed to shape the narrative, spin the story and enlist the aid of an all-too-willing sycophantic media to run with mindless drivel. Thus, I spend a portion of the show once again explaining how the intelligence community operates and point out all of the flaws in the reporting over the latest Biden DOJ leak. As I wrap up, I refer to a piece written by Margot Cleveland in The Federalist. The piece is a nice companion to much of what I brought to all of you on yesterday's show. The story is entitled, “Special Master order reveals Biden's direct involvement in Trump raid and six other bombshells.” Granted, long-time listeners of the show will have already known most of these revelations, but it is always nice to get reinforcement from other independent writers and researchers. Ultimately, if we do not, as a nation, reject this current machination of the regime, we risk allowing it to become the “new norm” in politics. The political pendulum swings both ways and what works for Democrats today, will be decried by them tomorrow when the table are inevitably turned. Neither side should want our nation to continue down this path. Rather, we should all want and strive for a return to the fundamental roots of our Republic and the safety is secures for both the majority and, more importantly, the minority. VBAC Tip Tuesday: Three Things You MUST know about Uterine Rupture before planning your Vaginal Birth After C-section

The VBAC Podcast

Play Episode Listen Later Aug 16, 2022 20:38 Transcription Available

If you're planning a Vaginal Birth After Cesarean, you know that the most common concern that mothers and doctors have about VBAC is the increased risk of uterine rupture. Uterine rupture can be very scary and confusing. The more you talk about it, the more confused you might feel. The trouble with uterine rupture is much of the data is outdated, pulled from poorly designed studies, and does not even clearly define "uterine rupture". So today, I'd like to help you learn more about uterine rupture by discussing three important uterine rupture facts every mom planning a VBAC should understand. Uterine Rupture Fact #1: Uterine Rupture and Uterine Dehiscence are not the same thin The first reason studies on uterine rupture can be misleading is that some studies do not differentiate between uterine rupture and uterine dehiscence. Conflating these two phenomenons inflates the perceived risk of uterine rupture when, infact, many women included in the data did NOT experience uterine rupture. Uterine rupture is defined as a full thickness separation of the uterine wall. Simply put, every layer of the uterine wall separates, tears, opens up and there is a gaping hole in the uterus. This is extremely dangerous and can cause hemorrhaging, fetal hypoxia, and even fetal death.   On the other hand, Uterine Dehiscence is a partial thickness separation of the uterine wall, sometimes referred to as a "uterine window" because surgeons can usually see the baby through the uterus. While there is a lot of controversy about conflating these two ideas, and whether or not uterine dehiscence is likely to turn into a uterine rupture, it is critical to understand that these two conditions are NOT the same, so if you're looking at a study on uterine rupture, it is critical to understand whether the study combines these two conditions or differentiates them. Uterine Rupture Fact #2: Uterine Rupture is least common in SPONTANEOUS labor after cesarean While there are many studies that cite a range of statistics for uterine rupture, when we break the numbers down with more scrutiny and nuance, we see that the incidence of Uterine Rupture for spontaneous labor is around 4 in 1000 (or 0.4%).   For augmented labors (aka labor started naturally but providers use medical intervention to "speed up" labor) the Uterine Rupture rate increases to approximately 9 in 1000, and for induced VBAC labors the Uterine Rupture rate is around 10 in 1000 (1%). Now, these numbers change when we discuss labor induction methods and other variable circumstances. For instance, one study published in January 2022 suggested a 0.4% uterine rupture rate in BOTH the spontaneous labor group AND the Pitocin Induction Group. The take away here is that while induction can be a safe option in necessary situations, you're less likely to experience uterine rupture if you wait for labor to start naturally versus scheduling an induction. Uterine Rupture Fact #3: There is a 2.8% perinatal mortality for victims of uterine rupture While the low likelihood of uterine rupture may be starting to comfort you, you might also be thinking "well what if I am that one percent? Then what?" While I'm not minimizing the trauma and seriousness of uterine rupture at all, the good news is that 97% of full term births that experience uterine rupture will survive. The perinatal mortality (fetal death occurring during labor or within 28 days of birth) rate associated with uterine rupture is 1 in 16 overall (including premature births), and 1 in 32 for term births. Of course there are other complications that can occur such as mother hemorrhaging, requiring a hysterectomy, oxygen deprivation for baby leading to birth injury, etc. At this time I am unaware of solid statistics for these circumstances, but if I come across them I'll eagerly add them to this post. Jen Kamel from VBAC Facts did some awesome math on this statistic, applying it to Landon's 2004 study citing a 0.7% Uterine Rupture Rate, and estimated that the rate of perinatal mortality due to uterine rupture is about 1 in 2380 to 1 in 5100. That's like a 0.0004% likelihood of experiencing perinatal death due to uterine rupture.   How have your thoughts on Uterine Rupture and VBAC Risk changed?   While this low statistic doesn't minimize the reality that this tragedy CAN occur, it might help you put the likelihood into perspective. Do these numbers sound like numbers that we should all be TERRIFIED of, and giving our rights up over? For me personally, that's a risk I'm willing to take, since I know no birth is without the possibility of tragedy. These numbers, however, can help alleviate the fear you might be feeling over uterine rupture so that you can start making your VBAC birth plan decisions from a place of INFORMATION and INTUITION, not fear.   Do me a favor an pop over the the FREE VBAC Support Group on Facebook and let me know how these numbers changed your thought process on Uterine Rupture and VBAC!

You're driving a lonely stretch of forested road. Up ahead you catch a glimpse of something in your headlights. As you start to slow down you're thinking to yourself, “It must be a deer.” But there's something wrong. There's something about it that's not quite right. It's not quite a deer. As you begin to process what you're seeing, your stomach sinks. As the thing raises up to meet its eyes to yours, its disfigured joints begin to crack and pop into place, and with a predator's stare and sinister grin, it is eager to meet you. This is no deer. On this episode of Belief Hole, we dissect alleged true accounts of the Appalachian Not Deer and compare them to strange reports from the early 20th century. Join us, as we explore the hoofed horror of animal mimics, shapeshifters, and sinister imposters. One constantly hears pleas in the West about banning the Swastika. What impact do these calls have on the Hindu community outside India, especially in the West?
