Dr. Lee Mellor and Jared Bradley return for the finale of this series. Specifically, to talk about how social media has had a negative effect on people's attention span, mental health, and how it stimulates unnecessary gossip and vanity rather than meaningful conversations. In today's world, it is easy to become isolated and lose touch with reality. Social media, the internet, and technology can all be used to create a sense of disconnection from the real world. This can lead to feelings of depression, anxiety, and loneliness. One way to unplug and reconnect to those around you is to limit phone use in situations where it is not necessary. This will help to ensure that individuals are able to focus on the conversations and activities around them and create meaningful connections. It is important to remember that taking the time to unplug and reconnect does not have to be a chore. It can be as simple as taking a walk in nature or playing a board game with family and friends. By taking the time to engage in meaningful conversations and activities, individuals can help to create a more connected world.Dr. Lee Mellor is the author of the bestselling book “Cold North Killers: Canadian Serial Murder”. He is also a criminologist specializing in abnormal homicide and sex crimes, offender profiler, lecturer, podcast host, singer-songwriter, and the CEO of Grinning Man Media.TakeawaysCapitalism has negative effects.Limit phone use to connect.Government hinders small businesses.ConnectDr. Lee Mellor: www.leemellor.comJared Bradley: https://www.linkedin.com/in/jaredvbradley/DNA Retrieval: https://www.m-vac.com/All Things Crime is a new, comprehensive video series that will explore every aspect of crime and the ensuing investigation, one video interview at a time. In Part 3 of this series, Dr. Lee Mellor and Jared Bradley discuss how easy it is to become consumed by technology and social media in our current world, and how this can be detrimental to our mental and physical health. One way to break free from the technology-driven world is to reconnect with nature. Nature can be a great source of healing and relaxation. Going for a walk in the park or taking a hike in the woods can help to clear your mind and give you a sense of peace. Being in nature can also help to reduce stress and anxiety. Reconnecting with nature can also be a great way to connect with others. You can take a friend or family member with you and have meaningful conversations while you explore the outdoors. Unplugging and reconnecting with nature can be beneficial in so many ways. It can help to reduce stress, improve your mood, and help to create a sense of community. Taking a break from technology and spending time in nature can be a great way to reset and recharge. So, take a break and unplug, and reconnect with nature.Dr. Lee Mellor is the author of the bestselling book “Cold North Killers: Canadian Serial Murder”. In Part 2 of this series, Dr. Lee Mellor and Jared Bradley address the effects of the internet, particularly of social media, on image management and highlighting how this affects people's emotions.Social media has become an integral part of our lives and it has the potential to both positively and negatively impact our lives. One of the negative aspects of social media is that it encourages false impressions. On social media, people often post carefully selected pictures that show only the best parts of their lives. They don't post pictures of themselves cleaning the house, doing mundane tasks, or looking less than perfect. This creates a false impression of their lives and can lead to feelings of jealousy and inadequacy in those who view these images.Social media can also be addictive. People may become addicted to the dopamine hit they get from likes and comments on their posts. This can lead to a false impression of their lives as they become obsessed with getting more likes and comments. That's why it is important to be aware of the potential negative impacts of social media and to be mindful of the images and comments we post.Dr. Lee Mellor is the author of the bestselling book “Cold North Killers: Canadian Serial Murder”. He is also a criminologist specializing in abnormal homicide and sex crimes, offender profiler, lecturer, podcast host, singer-songwriter, and the CEO of Grinning Man Media.TakeawaysSocial media encourages false impressions.Society must re-embrace practical skills.Experiments take time.ConnectDr. Episode 1 Russell and Shirley DermondIn the premiere episode of Citizen Detective, hosts Mike Morford, Naama Kates, and Dr. Lee Mellor explore the truly bizarre double murder of Russell and Shirley Dermond. In May of 2014, 88 year old Russell Dermond, and his 87 year old wife Shirley Dermond, were enjoying retirement in their gated waterfront home in Great Waters Reynolds at Lake Oconee in Putnam County, Georgia. When they failed to arrive at a neighbor's Kentucky Derby party, the neighbor tried to get ahold of the Dermonds, but was unable to do so. Worried, the neighbor went over to the Dermond home on May 6, and after finding the Dermond home unlocked, they made their way inside. What they found shocked and horrified them. Inside the garage lay the decapitated body of Russell Dermond. His his head was missing, and so was Shirley. The news shocked local residents and the community at large, and police scrambled to figure out who had murdered Russell, and where was his wife Shirley. Over a week later, Shirley's body was found floating in Lake Oconee. The killer, or killers, had tried to weigh her body down in the lake with concrete blocks. Police were stumped as to a motive for the double murder. Was it a robbery gone wrong? Was it a hit? Was it personal? The answers have eluded investigators for almost a decade. The Dermond case is a favorite for amateur sleuths. In this episode, the team explores the clues and details of the case. We are joined by retired homicide Detective, Cloyd Steiger, and GBI death investigator, and host of the podcast Autopsy, Landen Wilson. In 1891, a mysterious figure appeared on the streets of London, dispensing pills to poor young women who then died in agony. Suspicion came to center on a Scottish-Canadian doctor with a dark past in North America. In this week's episode of the Futility Closet podcast we'll describe the career of the Lambeth Poisoner, whose victims remain uncounted. We'll also consider a Hungarian Jules Verne and puzzle over an ambiguous sentence. Intro: How can an investor responsibly divest herself of stock in a company that she feels has acted immorally? We have a very rare interview with Joe Clark, who has never spoken publicly until now. Clark was convicted of torturing two teenage boys in the 90's, killing one of them. Joining us to analyze Joe Clark after the interview is Dr. Lee Mellor from the awesome podcast 'Murder Was The Case' among several other things!
Now that the show is no longer in production, I'll be declassifying all the previous 'Classified' episodes on Patreon and this is one of them.we talk with Dr. Lee Mellor of the podcast "Murder Was The Case" about his analysis of Lorenzo Fayne given what's known about him.
Could you identify a serial killers typical method of operation? His or her tendencies? What the killer most likely fits into geographically, racially, economically? What prior convictions he or she most likely had? Dr Lee Mellor can and that's one of the reasons he is so sought after when there's a serial killer or rapist on the loose. What does it take to become one of the top few criminologists who specializes in necrophilia, cannibalism, serial rapes and killings, and other highly dangerous and pathological crimes? Dr Lee Mellor describes his journey! There are two aspects to crime that every law enforcement officer must meet up with and face head on - and that is the sewer and the abyss - as Dr Mellor explains. The sewer they are more than accustomed to as they are forced to deal with it as a part of their job. It's the abyss that causes the issues and for many even PTSD.The sewer is the disgusting parts of crime and the dregs of society. The urine, blood, guts, decaying bodies, murder and rape crime scenes, the outward part of crime. The abyss is the why. WHY would someone stab another human being 60 times? WHY would someone steal the last dollars of an elderly persons social security check? That's actually the more disturbing part of dealing with criminals, because sometimes there is no why. That's just who they are, and for most of us that's VERY hard to deal with.Dr Lee Mellor is an expert in the Why. He delves into the sadistical reasoning behind serial killings, rapes and other abnormal crime. And it's a sick and twisted world that he is tasked to make some sense out of, and more importantly, catch a perpetrator who is committing serial crimes and is still on the loose. You can find more of Dr Mellor's books and writings on his website:http://leemellor.com/His podcast, Murder Was The Case, is one all major podcasting sites:https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast... Today on Typical Books we talk conspiracy theories. Dr. Lee Mellor's latest book was on my wishlist the moment it was announced. The OTC gang is finally in person again! With mixed feelings about it. This week, discussing the Ideal Maternity Home and the Butterbox Babies. We drill down to talk about how this institution got away with, quite likely, literally murdering babies for years; the differences between a legit adoption and an Ideal adoption; and how society's treatment of single mothers has and hasn't changed over the decades. In part two, the final part of this series on Jeffrey Dahmer, we return back to July 27, 1981 in Hollywood Florida, where six-year-old Adam Walsh goes missing from a Sears store, and on that same day 34-year-old Willis Morgan was in the Radio Shack at the Hollywood, Florida Mall, when a disheveled man, reeking of alcohol approached him. The man was trying to talk to Morgan, perhaps flirtatiously."I didn't respond to his overtures," says Morgan, but despite that "he just wouldn't leave." Morgan recalls this man as being "so desperate, so lonely for someone to talk to." He was a "goofy guy that was lonely, that was looking for someone to talk to." The man, says Morgan was "unkempt and dirty" and had a "dead look in his eyes." "He was lonely, he just wanted anybody," says Morgan. After the man dejectedly stomped away, Morgan says he was "keeping an eye on him" and recalls seeing the man enter the Sears department store. On that day, several other shoppers encountered or spotted this man as well, who they claim to be the Milwaukee Cannibal, Jeffery Dahmer. Was it possible Dahmer actually murdered 6 year old Adam Walsh?***FOLLOW US on SOCIAL MEDIA***Join the "Elbow Deep Club" on Patreon for just $5/Month to get more exclusive content from Even the Podcast is Afraid, like our exclusive after show "After the Podcast is Afraid" and our video only podcast show "Monthly Sacrifice" & more.Visit our website eventhepodcastisafraid.com to check out our merch, listen to more episodes, see our sponsors, and dive through our detailed archive of all the shows we have released to date & more.Keep up with what we are doing by following us on social media, you can find us on Twitter @PodcastAfraid or on Instagram @PodcastAfraid You can also follow the hosts on Twitter, @jared_ordis, @thenickster15, & @spookysam8 + you can follow Jared & Nick on Instagram, @jared.ordis and @porchetta_sandwichEven the Podcast is Afraid is part of the Crawlspace Media Network, be sure to checkout their website to see all the shows offered on the CSM network.***SPONSORS & MORE MENTIONED in this EPISODE***Even the Podcast is Afraid Merch Store Holiday Discount, use code DEEP10 in our merch store to get 10% OFF your purchase, CLICK HERE , or visit our website at eventhepodcastisafraid.com & click Merch at the top of the website. In part one of this series on Jeffrey Dahmer, instead of doing a complete rehash of all his individual murders and all the grotesque details, the trial so on, since everyone knows who Jeffery Dahmer is, and his case has been covered by tons of true crime podcasts, documentaries, and tv shows, this stories has been told time and time again. So instead we wanted to discuss more of the mysteries that still surround this highly talked about serial killer. On July 27, 1981 in Hollywood Florida, a six-year-old boy went missing from a Sears store, and On July 22, 1991, almost 10 years to the day, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, a 31-year-old man is arrested for the attempted murder of a young man. Soon it emerges that this attempted murder is on the lower end of the spectrum of evil as it is soon revealed that the 31-year-old man has murdered at least 17 people, and as time goes on and more details emerge, the depths of his depravity and unimaginable desires grow ever deeper. Dahmer appeared as an open book in his confessions and interrogations and even granted access to in-depth interviews to the media, but what about those 10 years and the many miles between those two locations? ***FOLLOW US on SOCIAL MEDIA***Join the "Elbow Deep Club" on Patreon for just $5/Month to get more exclusive content from Even the Podcast is Afraid, like our exclusive after show "After the Podcast is Afraid" and our video only podcast show "Monthly Sacrifice" & more.Visit our website eventhepodcastisafraid.com to check out our merch, listen to more episodes, see our sponsors, and dive through our detailed archive of all the shows we have released to date & more.Keep up with what we are doing by following us on social media, you can find us on Twitter @PodcastAfraid or on Instagram @PodcastAfraid You can also follow the hosts on Twitter, @jared_ordis, @thenickster15, & @spookysam8 + you can follow Jared & Nick on Instagram, @jared.ordis and @porchetta_sandwichEven the Podcast is Afraid is part of the Crawlspace Media Network, be sure to checkout their website to see all the shows offered on the CSM network.***SPONSORS & MORE MENTIONED in this EPISODE***SOUTHERN ODDITIES is an upcoming podcast from host Jared Ordis, which premieres on November 16th, 2020 on all your favorite podcast listening apps. #1 New Release in Forensic Psychology — Serial Killer? Your Neighbor, Friend, Even Your Spouse?Serial killers: Ted Bundy, John Wayne Gacy, and Jeffrey Dahmer are often the first names that spring to mind. Many people assume serial killers are primarily an American phenomenon that came about in the latter part of the twentieth century. But such assumptions are far from the truth. Serial killers have been around for a very long time and can be found in every corner of the globe—and they’re not just limited to the male gender either. Some of these predators have been caught and brought to justice whereas others have never been found, let alone identified. Serial killers can be anywhere. And scarier still, they can be anyone.Edited by acclaimed author and anthologist Mitzi Szereto, The Best New True Crime Stories: Serial Killersreveals all-new accounts of true crime serial killers from the contemporary to the historic. The international list of contributors includes award-winning crime writers, true-crime podcasters, journalists, and experts in the dark crimes field such as Martin Edwards, Lee Mellor, Danuta Kot, Craig Pittman, Richard O Jones, Marcie Rendon, Mike Browne, and Vicki Hendricks. If you are a fan of true crime books such as I’ll Be Gone in the Dark, Mindhunter, The Devil in the White City, or Peter Vronsky’s Sons of Cain; you will want to read Mitzi Szereto’s The Best New True Crime Stories: Serial Killers. This book will leave you wondering if it’s ever really possible to know who’s behind the mask you’re allowed to see. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
Who has sex with the dead? Too many people, and roving gangs of perverted ducks. As the "victim" just lies there, do they share culpability in this foul act? And as the ducks have no codified standard of sexual morality, are they simply responding to the duck call of nature by gang-raping the duck dynasty's deceased as a way to feather their social status nests? Is research into necrophilia a form of scholastic quackery? Is it possible for psychopaths and serial killers to suffer an overdose of bad puns while listening to True Crime Uncensored? Find out when you listen to this mind-numbing episode hosted by Edgar Award winner Burl Barer and show business legend Howard Lapides. Produced by Magic Matt Alan and featuring our brilliant guest Lee Mellor. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/burl-barer/support

Statistically, men commit far more acts of physical violence than women, and that also applies to serial killers. There are far fewer female serial killers than males, but the number is big enough not to be ignored - and may surprise you. Today we’re looking at female serial killers, specifically here in Canada. How they differ from men, their motivations, and some stories of well-known Canadian killers. Our guest, Lee Mellor, is a criminologist and author. We’ll cover the stories of Elizabeth Wettlaufer, Lila Young, Paul Bernardo & Karla Homolka, Stephanie Bird, and Millie Weeks. Content may be disturbing. Rampage: a state of anger or agitation resulting in violent, reckless, and destructive behaviour. In 1989, Marc Lépine mercilessly executed 14 female students at Montreal’s École Polytechnique to become Canada’s most notorious mass murderer. The following year spree killer Peter John Peters roamed from London, Ontario, to Thunder Bay, leaving a trail of bloodied bodies, broken dreams, and stolen vehicles. Both men experienced the same devastating destiny – they embarked on homicidal rampages that shook their nation to the core. Lee Mellor has gathered more than 25 of Canada’s most lethal mass and spree killers into a single work. Rampagedetails their grisly crimes, delves into their twisted psyches, and dissects their motivations to answer the question every true crime lover yearns to know: why? If you think serial killers are dangerous, prepare for something deadlier …RAMPAGE-Lee Mellor
