The conversation discusses the impact and legacy of the Blair Witch Project, a found footage horror film that revolutionized the genre. It explores the marketing strategies used to present the film as a real documentary, creating a sense of mystery and intrigue. The conversation also delves into the sequel, Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2, and the criticisms it faced for deviating from the original's style and tone. The discussion highlights the importance of staying true to the elements that made the original successful and the consequences of studio interference. In this conversation, Bill and Prof. Christopher Bricklemyer discuss the Blair Witch franchise, including the original film, Book of Shadows, and the 2016 sequel. They analyze the impact of the first film on the horror genre and the success of its marketing. They also share their thoughts on the different films, grading them and discussing their strengths and weaknesses. The conversation concludes with a segment from Reverend Scott's Holy Shit, where he reviews the film Witchtrap and discusses The Final Cut.

And so our journey through Spooky Month comes to a close with our final pick--Bride of Boogedy! A follow up to the 1986 classic, Mr Boogedy, Bride of Boogedy focuses again on the Davis family as they try to make their way in the quaint New England town of Lucifer Falls and are faced yet again with Mr. Boogedy and all his BS. This time, the guy needs a wife so he'll stop at nothing to find his bride and take her to the underworld. Coming in at an hour and half compared the original's 45 minutes running time, we had some trouble staying awake at times but overall found this flick to be good spooky fun. Also starring Eugene Levy (!) this movie had us questioning a lot including: Why is this town obsessed with creepy pilgrim attire? Who goes to sleep in Pippy Longstocking style pig tails? And why do we still have wax museums? Happy Halloween Sweeties!
In Mr. Boogedy, A novelty-salesman moves his family into a new house. Initially dismissing incidents as more of their father's practical jokes, the family soon learns that the house is haunted by people who lived in the house 300 years previously. Saturday Morning Dads is Sean and Curtis talking about kid's movies. Do they love them? No not particularly but they were spending too much time at the office talking about random straight-to-Netflix kids' movies so, they figured they might as well start a podcast. New episodes come out almost every other week so make sure to subscribe. Instagram: saturdaymorningdads

In this episode, we recap our selections for the most frighteningly memorable 80s movies that caused us varying degrees of 'kinder-trauma'. We review three Disney productions - 'The Watcher In The Woods', 'Something Wicked This Way Comes' and 'Mr. Boogedy' - as well as 'The Monster Squad' and 'Little Monsters' and reminisce about childhood experiences that were brought back to our memories as a result (for example, getting kicked in the nards). We watched Disney's 1986 Halloween TV special, Mr. Boogedy! The Davis family moves to Lucifer Falls to open a new Gag City joke shop, and find that their house is haunted by appliances that move on their own and a mysterious green light that may be tied to an old town legend. In this episode, Christopher and Scott are joined by Jonathan Sasor (Melt, Rampikes) to discuss the 1986 television special Mr. Boogedy. Originally a part of the Wonderful World of Disney lineup, this 45 minute feature is a "frightfest" for the whole family. Talking points include John Astin's puzzling willingness to appear in this film, how utterly impossible it would be to live with the protagonists, and just how insane this film suggests a midnight snack could be. Later, Scott shares the folklore of Baba Yaga.Gag City!

Mr. Boogedy is an odd made-for-TV movie. A typical "family finds out their house is haunted" story. That attempts to be both funny and scary. We take a look to see if it succeeds at either. We hop over to a vintage part of the vault just in time for a spooky Halloween tale with the delightful Kristen Henley (@KHensayingstuff). A family moves into a very spooky house, which is haunted by a ghost names Mr. Boogedy. However, it's all fun and games to dad, who's job and life's work is owning a joke shop and pulling pranks. The family must fight to rid their new home of the sinister presence as well as dad's corny and insensitively timed gags. Tell us what you thought of Mr. Boogedy's screentime @ITDVPodcast.

Fire up your Disney+ and get your iPhone ready, it's time to watch Mr. Boogedy with me! I first heard about Mr. Boogedy around last Halloween. The Disney cult classic was first aired in 1985 but somehow I missed it over the years. Maybe it was too scary and my parents kept it off the TV or maybe we just didn't have the right channel back then. Either way, this year I decided to finally watch it and ask you, the listener, to watch it with me!
Three words: Return. To. Oz. And that nightmare fuel is just the tip of the scary iceberg this week! Over the years, Disney has given its fans many intentionally scary things. From the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror to Space Mountain to Mr. Boogedy, Disney's had it's fair share of real scares. Then there are the scary things in the parks, movies, and TV that aren't scary on purpose...they're just, scary! I hope you enjoy Episode 213: Unintentionally Scary Disney!

Power up your vacuum and hand buzzers, because we're getting gooey with Mr. Boogedy!Support the show (https://www.patreon.com/moviedumpster)
