At the DeAI summit, held by Polychain Capital and OpenLedger, Andy had the pleasure to chat with @EMostaque, a mathematician and former CEO of Stability AI. The conversation embraced the changes that we are going to see in 2025, how to prepare for AGI, the techno-optimistic mindset, and why we shouldn't be intimidated by AI. The era of arts, philosophy, and abundance ushered in by machine learning feels all too futuristic, but Emad believes we are on the precipice of this happening. Prior to October 7th, the only bulwark against Israel's complete strangle of the narrative in America's culture was the Black liberation movement and the stories of American Palestinians. The story behind every Palestinian who immigrated to the US is often a story of tragedy and resourcefulness. What makes Emad's life story so unique and powerful is that it connects the struggles of American street life with the struggles of Palestinian oppression by the Zionist state through ironic parallels. Emad was born in Jerusalem a year before the ‘67 War to a strong mother of faith, a father who was a resistance fighter abused and tortured by Israel and in turn became abusive to his family. After immigrating to the United States, Emad gets involved in the notorious gang life of Chicago, is incarcerated into a brutal prison system and finds Islam. Emad U Deen is harnessing the wisdom he has accumulated from his tumultuous but fascinating life as a Palestinian immigrant and Chicago Saint to fight for his people facing extermination and ethnic cleansing and helping young kids find purpose in a world deprived of integrity and infested with top-down hypocrisy. We discuss the cycle of abuse, how the legacy of trauma is imposed on the innocent from the abused, making the abused the abuser and the importance of breaking that cycle. We also dive into the glory of Islam's legacy throughout the world and the coming revolution which appears to be on the horizon in Muslim nations who are under regimes corrupted by Western empire. Gamal tremble de colère au souvenir de la catastrophe qui a brisé sa famille, au cours de laquelle il a perdu son fils unique, emporté par le torrent meurtrier à Derna, en Libye. « Mon fils est mort en Libye, mon fils Ayman ! se lamente-t-il. Il laisse derrière lui trois enfants et sa femme, une de ses filles est née après sa mort. » Adossés au mur d'une des petites maisons de terre du village, Gamal et ses voisins sont toujours sous le choc : « C'est un jour qui a marqué notre histoire, un jour affreux, affreux pour le village… », explique Gamal, adossé au mur d'une des petites maisons de terre de ce petit village de la vallée du Nil, en Égypte, dans lequel tous les habitants sont encore sous le choc.  « Il y a trois morts dans certaines maisons, trois morts, quinze pour la seule rue là-bas », pointe du doigt Youssef, une jeune homme du quartier.Au total, Nazlat Al Sharif, qui compte à peine un millier d'habitants, pleure la mort de 75 jeunes hommes. « C'est difficile pour les mères et les épouses, et les enfants sont encore jeunes, c'est vraiment une situation difficile et un sujet permanent, quelque chose qu'on ne peut évidemment pas oublier, pas au bout d'un an, ni même de deux ou je ne sais combien d'années. De très jeunes hommes, l'un s'appelait Emad, l'autre Mohamed… Le corps d'Emad est resté là-bas, il est enterré là-bas. Quant à celui de Mohamed, il nous est revenu. Nous n'avons plus rien, nous n'avons plus de revenus, nous sommes désormais des gens pauvres. Nous n'avons reçu aucun revenu depuis que nos fils sont morts. »Dans ce village de paysans, le travail dans les champs environnants paie peu, à peine 2 000 livres égyptiennes par mois, soit presque 40 euros. Un travail dont la tâche physique est rude, trop rude pour que des personnes âgées ou de jeunes mères ne puissent y prétendre. « Les gens sont épuisés, épuisés… Le gouvernement nous a aidé une fois à hauteur de 100 000 livres égyptiennes, mais on a besoin de revenus mensuels », explique Gamal.Si ces 100 000 livres, pour chaque famille de défunt, constituent une somme importante, ils ne pallient pas à l'absence de revenu régulier pour les foyers Nazlat Al Sharif et n'estompent guère la tristesse des familles. « Nous voulons nos enfants, pas de l'argent, se désole Fawzya. Chaque jeudi, nous nous rendons ensemble sur leurs tombes, je ne vais même plus sur la tombe de mon père ou ma mère, je vais sur la tombe de mon enfant, de mon fils, c'est tout. »Une nouvelle génération de jeunes hommes quitte peu à peu Nazlat Al Sharif pour la Libye, en quête de revenus pour leurs proches endeuillés.
