Greetings, beloved. As we gather to learn and grow, let us reflect on how we begin our day. The way we start our morning can profoundly influence our ability to hear God's voice and understand His plan for us. In Mark 1:35, we see a simple yet powerful example of seeking solitude to commune with the Father. Let this practice inspire us to follow suit, setting a spiritual tone for our day, free from distractions and focused on God's presence. Our springboard for today's discussion is: Mark 1:35 - "Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed."In the quiet of the early morning, away from the demands and noise of daily life, there is a precious opportunity to connect with God. This practice of rising early, as I did, to seek a place of solitude, is not merely about following a routine but about positioning ourselves to hear God's voice more clearly. By starting our day in prayer and meditation, we open our hearts to receive divine guidance and strength.Focus Points for Aligning Your Day with God's Plan:* Seek Solitude: Find a quiet place where you can be alone with God. Solitude helps minimize distractions and allows you to focus solely on God's presence.* Pray Sincerely: Approach God with a sincere heart. Share your thoughts, concerns, and desires with Him. Ask for His guidance and wisdom for the day ahead.* Read and Reflect on Scripture: Spend time in God's Word. Let the scriptures speak to you and provide direction and comfort. Reflect on how these teachings apply to your life and your day.* Listen Attentively: After you pray and read the scriptures, spend time listening. Be still and know that He is God. Allow God's spirit to speak to your heart and reveal His plans to you.* Set Intentions Based on What You Receive: As you discern God's guidance, set your intentions for the day. Let these be influenced by what you feel God is placing on your heart. Conclusion: Starting your day with God in prayer and scripture is a powerful way to ensure that you are walking in His will. It aligns your heart with divine purposes and equips you to handle whatever comes your way with faith and wisdom. By following this morning routine, you invite God to lead your steps and make clear His plans for you.Call to Action: Tomorrow morning, rise early and find a quiet place to meet with God. Follow these steps to open your heart to His guidance. Make this practice a daily habit and observe how it transforms your life and aligns you with God's purposes.Question of the Day: What changes can you make to your morning routine to ensure you start your day aligned with God's will?Let's Pray: Father in heaven, thank You for the gift of each new day. Help us to start each morning in Your presence, seeking Your face in the quiet before the day begins. Teach us to listen for Your voice and to follow Your guidance. May our days be filled with Your wisdom and peace as we walk in Your ways. In Your holy name, we pray. Amen.As you start each day, remember the peace and clarity that come from spending your first moments with God. Let this time refresh your spirit and guide your actions as you seek to live out God's plan for your day.My Reasons To Believe is a reader-supported publication. Teresa Lesher is the author of the new Searching for God, Finding Love, which is an inspirational account of her personal journey deeper into faith upon the quest for truth, and in which she details her personal healing path and realization that God's divine love and mercy are both imminent and accessible by turning "inwards and upwards." The truth is easy to see. The decision is the hard part. I thank God every day for being Muslim. I'm very grateful to be among the Muslims. Teresa Lesher In this illuminating conversation, Teresa describes how she came to embrace Islam in the early 1980's while at college in the United States at a time prior to the internet and when there was remarkably little information about the faith. She explains the importance of belief in the Day of Accounting, the necessity of balance in faith by deepening one's spirituality in addition to upholding the formal disciplines of religion, that love must be based in action and in service, the key to authentic self-discovery, and much more. Teresa also shares the impact of the Course in Spiritual Healing upon her personal spiritual journey and awakening to the power and presence of God, and emphasizes the importance of realizing that the key to connection with our Creator lies in the very breath we are given each living moment. The best part of the course for me were the meditations and the breathwork. They helped me to still my soul, to feel more centered and to find some balance, and to find some quiet and peace. Teresa Lesher We also discuss the importance of recognition of results in the context of discernment, the profound and incomprehensible gift of access to the very speech of God in the form of the Holy Qur'an, how love heals and connects, the impact of technology and the internet on our culture, the importance of unplugging from the world, the difference between information and enlightenment, the power in the emptiness of the desert, and much more. About Teresa Lesher Teresa Lesher as of the time of writing lives in Kuwait with her family and is wife, mother, writer and most importantly servant of God. She is the author of Searching for God, Finding Love, and you can learn more about Teresa as well as purchase her book and connect with her directly via her website, Teresa Lesher. All this time I've been searching for God, and I found Him, as close to me as my breath. And so, before and beyond all my labels, titles, positions, and duties, I remembered my source in God, His breath breathed into my tiny body, and eventually a breath my body will exhale as I make my return journey to my Maker. Now I'm sure of who I am. And now that I know myself, I know everyone. We are all, essentially, a breath from God; we are created by Him, we belong to Him, and we are returning to Him. In the meantime, I will do my best to honor the privilege of my existence and implication of my origin. I will respect myself, and strive to be whole and wholesome, loving and loved, tender and joyful. I will honor all living things, since they, too, house that divine breath. I will stay conscious of my source and my destination and, in between, during this sojourn on earth, I will do my best to stay true to my essence, to always be, first and foremost, a breath of God. When I leave my bodily dwelling and return to God, I hope that I am recognized as belonging to Him, deemed worthy of His presence, welcomed home at last. Teresa Lesher
Psalm 90 ends with five prayers for those who have squarely faced the trouble of life and have found God. Each of these prayers arise out of faith, out of the joyous discovery that trouble is not the last word; instead trouble has been the pathway of discovering GodFacing Trouble and Finding God: The Psalms never side step difficult issues of life. With candor and clarity, these poetic songs describe what is going on in our hearts. Psalm 73 and 90 speak of two central questions we wrestle with – injustice and death. We struggle with wrongs that go unpunished. We are not immune to the fact and fear of dying. Listen as Dr. John opens these Psalms with insight from a heavenly perspective. We will face troubles, but God is in them.
Gene Zannetti, founder of Winning Mindset, and Fr. Francesco Giordano, Director of Human Life International's Rome Office, highlight the importance of private revelations in living one's faith in a world that has lost its sense of God. Zannetti and Fr. Giordano contend that all private revelations should be approached with caution and in the light of long-established Catholic doctrines. How people discern alleged messages from God — whether fact or fiction — is an important part in the journey of faith. Watch now and discover when private messages are from God, as Zannetti and Fr. Giordano lay out the various conditions for prudence when listening to the Holy Spirit as we sort through some of the most extraordinary moments in history.HELP US FIGHT THE LIES OF THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA AND SPREAD THE TRUTH AROUND THE WORLD: https://give.lifesitenews.com SHOP YOUR FAVORITE PRECIOUS METALS WITH LIFESITENEWS: https://stjosephpartners.com/lifesitenewsSHOP ALL YOUR FUN AND FAVORITE LIFESITE MERCH! https://shop.lifesitenews.com/ Connect with us on social media:LifeSite: https://linktr.ee/lifesitenewsJohn-Henry Westen: https://linktr.ee/jhwesten Hosted on Acast. God is good all the time, and all the time God is good! It's catchy and it's true, but do we really believe it? Duane Calvin takes us through the Book of Ecclesiastes to uncover the goodness of God and the source of real satisfaction.
Many believe the book of Esther is the only one in the Bible without God's name. This weekend on "The Chosen People," Mitch Glaser and Robert Walter provide some insights into how to find God's name in this book, and how it is a key part of understanding the Abrahamic Covenant. Join us for this eye-opening discussion!
We are in a series with my dear friend, Annie Rohde, where we are taking you on a journey of disovering what it looks like to slow down and truly experience your life and step into where God has you in this season. In Episode 106, we talked about practicing sabbath on a really practical level and shared our experiences (go back and catch that episode if you missed it!). In this episode, we discuss the concept of co-laboring with God, arguing that work is a gift from God intended to give our lives meaning and purpose. We emphasize the difference between working from a place of obligation, fear, or shame, and working from a place of joy and abundance, grounded in an understanding of God's love. We also explore the detrimental effects of hustle mentality, and encourage listeners to tune into the Holy Spirit's guidance in their daily tasks. They reflect on the Bible's portrayal of work, the need for rest and heart-care, and the importance of detaching self-worth from achievements. I want to invite you to a *FREE workshop* on the eveing of Friday Feb. 2nd - LESS IS MORE. Would if you didn't have to keep trying so hard to ‘get it together'. This Is Our God: Week 2Chase GardnerDescription: It's not that hard to believe that God could love us when we're at our best, but how could He possibly love us when we're at our worst? In week two of the series, Chase Gardner uses the story of the Samaritan woman at the well to show how Jesus goes out of His way to meet us in our shame. Message Notes:God is gracious and we don't need to prove ourselves. John 4:3 (ESV) Jews and Samaritans saw each other as unworthy of dignity or respect. Jesus intentionally goes to Samaria. John 4:7a (ESV) - The Samaritan woman goes to the well at a time when she knows no one will be around. John 4:7b (ESV) - Jesus speaking to this woman would have been seen as scandalous. John 4:9 (ESV) – Jesus isn't worried about what people are thinking; He just cares about this woman. John 4:10-14 (ESV) – Jesus is talking about her spiritual thirst. John 4:15-17 (ESV) – People often misinterpret that this woman is an adulterer. What if the problem Jesus was trying to fix was actually shame? Jesus is breaking every social rule to meet this woman at the epicenter of her shame. At our worst, Jesus still wants to draw near. John 4:19-26 (ESV) Jesus is the answer to receiving the forgiveness, acceptance, transformation, redemption, and unfathomable grace that you have to experience to truly believe. John 4:27-29 (ESV) The woman leaves her shame and runs to the people who have harmed her because they have no power over her anymore. Not only did God freely forgive her and love her, but He used the rest of her life in a powerful way.
This Is Our God: Week OneChase Gardner - Teaching Pastor - Hope Community ChurchDescription:If God is great, what does that mean for us? In week one, Chase Gardner shares just how "great" the God of the Bible is and why that changes everything.Message Notes:God is great. “What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us.” – A. W. TozerThe things that you most want to change about your life are probably rooted in lies that you believe about God.Romans 12:2a (ESV) Transformation comes through the mind.Judges 6:1-6 (ESV) Israel begins to believe a lie about God that He is not great and in control.Your prayer life will reveal how great you believe God is.“I'm increasingly persuaded that there are only two ways of living: 1) trusting God and living in submission to his will and his rule, or 2) trying to be God. There's little in between.” – Paul TrippGod teaches Israel that they make lousy gods.Judges 6:1, 6a (ESV)God first humbles them, but He's still with them regardless of the circumstances.Judges 6:11 (ESV)Judges 6:12-13 (ESV)God is who He says He is no matter the circumstances.Judges 6:14-16 (ESV)After God humbles us, He will usually weaken us.The army was too big for God to show Israel that He was in control and had the power to save them.Judges 7:2-3 (ESV)Judges 7:4a (ESV)Judges 7:7-8 (ESV)If dependence is the goal, then weakness is an advantage.2 Corinthians 12:9b (ESV)In the end, God shows Israel that He is great, and He is in control. Behold here is your God. This inspiring message takes an amazing look at the character of God and the great comfort we can find in knowing Him. A timely message out of Isaiah 40 for our Christmas season. In the midst of all the chaos… Behold here is your God. (Talk by Don Baker)
The understanding of God that many Christians insist is so clear in the Bible makes faith seem like an all-or-nothing proposition. When much of that rigid projection seems in doubt, it's not surprising that many people leave behind this take-it-or-leave-it religion. This week I am joined by Mark Feldmeir to discuss his new book "Life After God: Finding Faith When You Can't Believe Anymore". What do we do when our image of God is no longer viable? Mark asks all the big theological questions and provides a beautiful, constructive way forward. Life after God offers glimpses of the ineffable God, who can emerge when we forget what we think we're supposed to believe about God and open us up to the mystery, wonder, and compelling love we crave. This was easily one of my favorite books I have read in a long time. I hope you enjoy this conversation as much as I did. Resources: Life After God (Book) MarkFeldmeir.Com

All Scripture is inspired by God and beneficial for teaching, for rebuke, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man or woman of God may be fully capable, equipped for every good work. – 1 Timothy 3:16-17 God speaks to us through the Bible. That Book embodies His words. Creation itself is the visible embodiment of His power and wisdom. It is the result of His words. This Book of His is, in a different way, the effect of His speaking. It is His written wisdom and power. There is His voice to us. The thunder and tempest are His loud voice of grandeur. The sunshine and the gentle breeze are His still small voice. But deeper, clearer, keener, softer, and still more penetrating than all of these is His written Word to us. The Bible is what it is because it contains the words of God. It is through the Word, and in connection with it, that God communicates with us. The Word revives: Your word has revived me (Psalm 119:50). The word produces faith: Faith comes from hearing (Romans 10:17). The Word strengthens, comforts, heals, nourishes, and revives. It gets into contact with each part of our souls and works its own work there. And it does this because it is divine. No human words could be trusted to work the work in a human soul so unrestrictedly. It is not eloquence, poetry, nor argument, but something more than all these together. It is something peculiar and indescribable, which man could not have formed and which he cannot understand, that makes it so suitable for the soul of a foolish and sinful man.

Mother Miriam Live - January 10, 2023 Reading through the first chapter of "Freedom Under God" by Bishop Fulton Sheen If God truly listens to our prayers, why is our desired outcome not always what happens? If a person misses Mass due to illness, is he/she in grave sin? Becoming an oblate (and Mother's recommended reading material) Is filing a restraining order against an abusive spouse sufficient? Do prayers actually affect the outcome or situations, or is that all predetermined by God? Advice for finding a good spiritual director
