The UK is enjoying its annual two weeks of good weather and so the Indieventure crew have decided to get together and plan an indie game (well, indie-led) summer holiday! That's right, it's another list episode, featuring a whistlestop tour of some of the greatest vacation destinations in video games according to, as it turns out, three potentially nightmarish travel companions. Our dream trip turns out to include stops in: Abzu, Anemoiapolis, Animal Crossing: Wild World, BioShock, Book of Travels, Botany Manor, The Coin Game, Danganronpa 2, Dishonored 2, Doomsday Paradise, Dorfromantik, En Garde!, Everybody's Gone to the Rapture, Final Fantasy VII, Firewatch, Five Nights at Freddy's, The Good Life, Half-Life, A Highland Song, Hooked On You, Huniepop 2, The Last of Us, The Legend of Zelda, Let's Build A Zoo, Overboard, Paradise Killer, Parkasaurus, Placid Plastic Duck Simulator, Pokémon Crystal, The Quarry, Resident Evil, Roman Sands RE:Build, A Short Hike, Star Birds, Stardew Valley, Strange Horticulture, Thank Goodness You're Here, Thimbleweed Park, Until Dawn, and The Witness. In hyperfixations, Rachel has again turned her attention to tabletop gaming and has been greatly enjoying Spots, a card game where you roll dice and apply their dots to a variety of cute dalmatians. Liam has been playing Destiny 2: The Final Shape, reminding him once again that he actually really likes Destiny 2 sorry-not-sorry. Rebecca has been very busy but nevertheless the announcement of Life is Strange: Double Exposure is giving her life. (Note: We had to record this episode further in advance than usual, which is why you won't hear anyone getting excited about the Ace Attorney Investigations Collection — don't be alarmed, normal service will undoubtedly resume in the next episode.) Our music was written and performed by Ollie Newbury! Find him on Instagram at @newbsmusic.

The console wars are dead. We all know this, but social media seems to not. Everywhere online there seem to be pockets of fanboys who are often throwing shade or outright vitriol at a console that they do not call their own. So why is this?

Welcome to episode 54 of the Lesbian Book Club with Clare Lydon as she interviews UK author Jenn Matthews. Jenn is famed for her crochet skills, as well being the author of two books to date: “Hooked On You” and “The Words Shimmer.” Jenn talks about writing fanfic, especially Berena from Holby City, and how her novels explore life’s ‘invisible people’, who she hopes to shine a light on with her fiction. Her first two books included crochet and dyslexia. Her upcoming novels focus on mental health, pregnancy and addiction. Jenn lives in England’s South West with her wife, dog and cat. Clare also does a run-down of the Amazon Lesbian Fiction charts in the US & UK. She talks about what she’s been up to, including launching Made In London, book six in the London Romance Series; launching the audiobook of You’re My Kind; and commissioning audiobooks for A Taste of Love and Made In London. She’s gone audiobook crazy. If you’d like to get a free lesbian romance from Clare, head to www.clarelydon.co.uk/it-had-to-be-you and sign up for her VIP Readers’ Club.

Copperhead Road is also the title track of a superb, blistering electric album, available from both Amazon.com and the iTMS. I downloaded the acoustic solo version from the PMN. • Crooked Frame by Alejandro Escovedo, from a sanctioned bootleg, Live at The Palms (1995). Three versions of Crooked Frame appear on Alejandro's album With These Hands (2003): an electric studio version from 2003, and two live versions (one electric, the other acoustic) recorded in 1996. With These Hands, and all of Alejandro's other albums (as well as some rareties and swag) are available from the store at his site. Most of his albums are available from the iTMS and Amazon.com. • One More Time by Alejandro Escovedo, from Live at The Palms. Two electric (and very rocking) versions of One More Time are available: on Gravity (1992) and on With These Hands (recorded live at the South By Southwest Conference, 1996). • Hooked On You by Albert Collins, from Cold Snap (1986), available from Aligator Records, the iTMS and Amazon.com. This track was downloaded from the PMN. • Got The Blues In My Heart by Boo Boo Davis, from the CD Drew Mississippi forthcoming in October on Black & Tan Records. Pre-orders are possible at Amazon.com. This track downloaded from the PMN. Mentioned on tonight's Murphy's Saloon: The Palms Playhouse. The Blues Foundation and the Delta Blues Museum are excellent online resources for more information about the blues. Be sure to download and listen to the DBM's top-notch (and free) podcast, Uncensored History of the Blues. I've modified the rules of a drawing for three Murphy's Saloon t-shirts. If you'd like to look at the shirt (and other things), go here: Murphy's Store and listen to the show for details. This week's music: • Hooked On You by Albert Collins at the Podsafe Music Network. His CDs are available at Alligator Records and through the iTunes Music Store. • They Call Me Watermelon Slim by Watermelon Slim. His site is here. His first two CDs are available there. His new CD Watermelon Slim and The Workers can be ordered from his site prior to its official February release by NorthernBlues. • Cool Your Engine by Janet Ryan and Straight Up!. Their CD, Wrapped Up In Blue is available from CD Baby. • Riverboat by Phantom Freeway and the Badass Horns at the Podsafe Music Network. • Down and Out Blues by the Ricky Lewis Band at the Podsafe Music Network. The Ricky Lewis Band site is here. • Rollin' by Maria Daines at the Podsafe Music Network. This week's Murphy's Saloon intro is from Just Got To Boogie by Matt Thorpe and the show outro is from Shuffle In The Nineties, also by Matt Thorpe, both from the Podsafe Music Network, naturally. If you'd like to see where other Murphy's Saloon listeners live, you can check out the Murphy's Friends map over here, and install a push pin of your own.
