As a young girl, Kyla had trouble finding her place in this world. Through sports she’s been able to find her purpose, accept herself, and be proud of the woman she is. Now, it’s her time to ensure girls and women reach their soul’s potential through sports and never have to doubt their place in the game. Kyla proves that you don’t have to be an elite athlete to benefit from the power of sport as she continues living her dream of playing beer league hockey and sharing the power of sports with others. Connect with Paige Martin: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/paigymartin/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/paigymartin/ Paige’s first memory of falling in love with sports is when she was four years old and received the invitation to play road hockey with her older brother and his friends. Those invites were not only exhilarating, but gave Paige her first glimpse into what would shape the rest of her life. Through her childhood and teenage years, being a part of various sports teams became her happy place – the place she found her people, her outlet, and her fire. Like any Canadian, Saturday nights were (are) for Hockey Night in Canada. And if she’s being honest, mostly for the intermission interviews when she’d craft up her own questions of what she would’ve asked. Paige spent her time in university studying journalism and becoming increasingly more fascinated by storytelling and the power of human expression. Now, she’s asking the questions she always dreamed of, working as an on-air host in the Ontario Hockey League for Rogers TV and CBC’s OHL Correspondent. Meeting new people and learning their stories is what she loves most, and she can’t wait to help you tell yours. Paige loves the law. She's been working in the industry for over 20 years, but once she made it to the top—general counsel—she suddenly realized that she made it to where she wanted to be. And now she was free to pursue something else. She didn't hate her job, she just wanted something a little less conventional. Sitting in Italy eating cannoli and sipping a cappuccino, she had an idea...sounds like the perfect way to think up your new business idea, doesn't it? Wanting to find a way to spend more time in Italy, Paige came up with an idea: start a lawyer translation business. It's something I've never thought of before, but there's a need in the industry for reliable translations of legal documents. What if I decide to buy a campground in Iceland and need the contract translated to Icelandic? Paige at Online Legal Translations can handle it (from her van or from her home in Italy). But she didn't just jump into business on her own. She wisely started as a side hustle, finding other translation agencies and offering to do translations to Spanish and Italian. Then she started reaching out to her network and freelancing on her own. And then she had too much work and not enough time to explore (the RV entrepreneur's dilemma!). So she got advice from colleagues who encouraged her to start her own agency. So Online Legal Translations was born with its own unique selling point—all of her translators are lawyers. Now she could go beyond just Spanish and Italian to dozens of languages. Even Serbian. Albanian. Indonesian. Norwegian. In this episode, Paige shares her journey starting and growing her legal translation business over the past four years. Heath & Paige talk about: Why it's important that all Paige's contractors are attorneys What projects Paige loves to work on and what projects she has to turn away The one tool Paige needs to work from anywhere How to be a minimalist with your work How Paige has learned how to be flexible, outsource, and find freedom as an entrepreneur Being a lawyer is one of those jobs that I didn't think traveled well, especially when you need specific certifications and licenses for different states or countries. But Paige found a way to still do what she loves and travel the world. I love her business because it shows that with a little creativity, any business can be a work-from-anywhere business. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/rve/message

"Once I started sewing clothes for myself, I realized it was something I was wildly passionate about." Today on NION Radio, we have one of my oldest friends, Paige Mycoskie, founder of California-based fashion brand Aviator Nation. When Paige crafted her vision of what she wanted Aviator Nation to be, she knew what she was doing was not only going to work, but was going to succeed. Fronting the work and cash to get started, she shopped her initial work to various Los Angeles clothing stores and found her work to be a huge hit all over southern California. And the reach of Aviator Nation didn't stop at just its products. Paige's new clothing brand also became a center for US-made clothing, happy workers, and a brand new community of new friends. Tune in to learn how Paige Mycoskie made her dream business, designing clothing that she loved in a way that was honest and sustainable. You can Subscribe and Listen to the Podcast on Apple Podcasts. And please leave me a Rating and Review! "Having this retail store is really helping me understand where to take the clothes, and it's just a fun experience." New Agent Builds Massive Business By Focusing On Her Niche About the Episode On today's episode, I talk to REALTOR, marketing strategist, philanthropist and Gig Harbor's local connector and agent of choice, Paige Schulte. In just 2 years and 4 months, she went from new agent in a new area, to running a $3 million dollar business as a solo agent. She has developed really deep roots in the community, a very effective social media marketing strategy and voice, and the ability to work in her “zone of happiness”. Paige learned early on, by running her own company in California, the importance of creating a niche specifically tailored to her own personality. Seeing an opportunity for creating authentic and genuine marketing she set her focus on that. Paige employs the power of video because it lets you show up on a regular basis with the human touch. She uses Direct Messaging and Instagram stories which have resulted in her becoming a local celebrity. She shows up every day on Insta stories and people come to rely on it. The biggest mistakes many agents make, especially when they are new to the game, is thinking that they should be everything to everyone, but the truth is, a brokerage for everybody is a brokerage for nobody. A scarcity mindset makes us feel like there isn't enough business to go around, but if we drill down on our ideal client and area, we can build a business that truly makes us happy. We will also be able to create the kind of content people will want to have coffee with us over, and become a resource for what they care about. According to Paige, “getting focused on who I was showing up to serve helped create really deep roots quikly rather than trying to be everything to everyone.” The lesson we learn from Paige is that we don't just have the opportunity to build a business, we can design one to suit our lives and the things we care about. Paige's goal is to eventually be so niched down to a micro-market that she serves her neighbourhood. We don't have to serve huge cities and towns to make a good income and still balance that with everything else in our lives. In Today's Episode, We Talk About; 01:44 - How she dealt with the uphill battle of being a new agent and working in a new city. 03:56 - The importance of focus and niching down. 07:05 - Video content and why it's still an open opportunity in our industry. 10:40 - How Paige's business is set up with freelance and one-time employees. 13:42 - Why she chose to go deep, not wide on her social media platforms. 17:06 - Why Paige doesn't go outside of her zone of happiness geographically. 23:27 - Referrals and why they are the best return on our time. 27:15 - Why Paige doesn't have social links on her website. Today's guest is wedding photographer and attorney Paige Griffith of Paige Marie Photography. Paige primarily serves the Missoula, Montana area, which—relative to cities that we're near like Baltimore and Washington DC—is a pretty small market, and that's exactly the reason that I wanted to chat with Paige. We often hear from people in smaller markets that some of the strategies out there just don't work for their smaller, especially more rural areas. Well, I wanted to chat with Paige about how she was able to build a six-figure photography business in a smaller market. She outlines the challenges business owners face in those markets and then gives us steps that business owners can take to market their businesses in those areas. The highlights: 03:02 How a creative outlet in law school led to a full-time business. 10:40 The three challenges of building a business in a small(er) market. 16:15 How Paige intentionally built her portfolio. 20:43 Advertising in a small market, and the importance of choosing the right publications and platforms. 24:03 How marketing with handouts is still effective for Paige, and the importance of building a personal brand. 31:11 The challenge of pricing services in a smaller market—and understanding what your ideal client is willing to pay. 36:56 What it means to 'find a niche, fill the niche, kill the niche.' 43:05 The importance of going to your audience. 45:56 Getting published in local and regional publications. 48:22 How to get participation from other vendors in styled shoots. 50:55 The importance of investing in a website. 55:45 How Paige manages being both a full time attorney and full time wedding photographer. Paige's Biography: Paige Griffith graduated in May 2016 from the University of Montana School of Law with high honors, and also holds a double BA in Economics and Political Science from Pacific Lutheran University. During her time in law school, she was actively involved in the Women's Law Caucus, Montana Law Review, and National Moot Court Team. She started a photography business during law school which became a six-figure business in just 3 years.
