The Trump administration's national security team is in place, and the intelligence community is feeling the shock. Elon Musk's "Department of Government Efficiency" has infiltrated federal agencies, intelligence officials are resigning or being purged, and US allies are questioning how much they can still trust Washington. In this episode, The Atlantic's Shane Harris joins Matt to assess the state of the US intelligence community one month into Trump's second term. They discuss the FBI shake-up under Kash Patel and Dan Bongino, Musk's DOGE operatives posing an unprecedented counterintelligence risk, and whether Five Eyes can survive another four years. Plus, is the intelligence community still a viable career path for those who believe in its mission? This is the last and amongst the liveliest of my interviews at Munich's DLD Conference this year. An old friend who has appeared on KEEN ON several times before, Andrew McAfee is a MIT professor who co-wrote the 2014 classic The Second Machine Age. In our conversation, celebrating the 20th anniversary of the DLD Conference, McAfee reflects on the technological changes of the past 20 years,. He acknowledges that while he accurately predicted the broad trajectory of technological advancement, he underestimated AI's capabilities in areas like language processing and creative tasks. McAfee discusses the emergence of deep learning around 2012 and its evolution into today's generative AI. While maintaining overall optimism about technology's impact, he expresses concern about increasing social polarization and anxiety, particularly related to social media use, though he notes these trends actually preceded current technology. On economic matters, McAfee challenges the notion that tech innovation is stagnating, pointing to newcomers like Nvidia and OpenAI as evidence of continued inventive dynamism. He discusses Europe's technological lag behind the United States, citing regulatory challenges like GDPR as potential factors. Regarding climate change, McAfee believes technological solutions, particularly nuclear fusion, could address environmental challenges, though he acknowledges the severity of the crisis. He concludes by warning how traditional companies must adapt to survive in an era of rapid technological change, particularly facing competition from more agile, tech-savvy competitors.Andrew McAfee (@amcafee) is a Principal Research Scientist at the MIT Sloan School of Management, co-founder and co-director of MIT's Initiative on the Digital Economy, and the inaugural Visiting Fellow at the Technology and Society organization at Google. He studies how technological progress changes the world. His next book, The Geek Way, will be published by Little, Brown in 2023. His previous books include More from Less and, with Erik Brynjolfsson, The Second Machine Age. McAfee has written for publications including Foreign Affairs, Harvard Business Review, The Economist, The Wall Street Journal, and The New York Times. He's talked about his work on CNN and 60 Minutes, at the World Economic Forum, TED, and the Aspen Ideas Festival, with Tom Friedman and Fareed Zakaria, and in front of many international and domestic audiences. He's also advised many of the world's largest corporations and organizations ranging from the IMF to the Boston Red Sox to the US Intelligence Community. McAfee and his frequent coauthor Erik Brynjolfsson are othe nly people named to both the Thinkers50 list of the world's top management thinkers and the Politico 50 group of people transforming American politics.Named as one of the "100 most connected men" by GQ magazine, Andrew Keen is amongst the world's best known broadcasters and commentators. In addition to presenting KEEN ON, he is the host of the long-running How To Fix Democracy show. He is also the author of four prescient books about digital technology: CULT OF THE AMATEUR, DIGITAL VERTIGO, THE INTERNET IS NOT THE ANSWER and HOW TO FIX THE FUTURE. In this episode of The Bankers' Bookshel, host Paolo Sironi speaks with Dr. Jobst Landgrebe and Professor Barry Smith about their book, "Why Machines Will Never Rule the World: Artificial Intelligence without Fear". The guests argue that artificial intelligence (AI) cannot achieve true intelligence or consciousness due to fundamental mathematical and philosophical limitations. Dr. Landgrebe explains that AI, including models like ChatGPT, is unable to solve novel problems independently, as it relies on patterns from pre-existing data. Professor Smith adds that human intelligence involves both "knowing how" and "knowing that," which AI lacks. They assert that AI's current capabilities are limited to specific tasks and cannot replicate the complexity of human thought or active perception. The authors emphasize the importance of understanding AI's limitations to prevent misuse and manage expectations. They encourage a realistic view of AI, focusing on its role as a tool rather than a threat. The episode challenges the hype around artificial general intelligence, advocating for a practical and informed approach to AI development and deployment. ‌ ‌ Dr. Jobst Landgrebe - Chief Technology Strategist, Indivumed TherapeuticsDr. Jobst Landgrebe obtained his MD/PhD in cell biology in 1998. He is a licensed physician and studied medicine, biochemistry and mathematics. He works as head of R&D in a cancer research biotech company based in Hamburg. His current research interests are theory of science (for which he is a visiting professor at the University of Italian Switzerland) and biomedical/biomathematical cancer research. Barry Smith - Professor of Philosophy, Computer Science, and Biomedical Informatics, University of Buffalo Barry Smith is one of the world's most widely cited contemporary philosophers, known especially for his application of ideas derived from logic and ontology to the solution of problems in domains outside philosophy, including economics, biology and medicine. Most recently he has been working on extending this approach to the military and intelligence domains, where his proposals have been adopted as baseline standards by the US Department of Defense and by the US Intelligence Community. ‌ On the book:The main thesis of Why Machines Will Never Rule the World (Routledge 2023)'s main thesis is that so-called ‘Artificial General Intelligence' – an AI with the level of intelligence achieved by human beings – is for mathematical reasons impossible. This means that many assumptions surrounding current AI, including assumptions concerning the future takeover of the planet by autonomous robots, are founded on hype. ‌

Tom welcomes back to the show, Christopher Aaron to discuss the markets and current geopolitical instability. Although gold prices saw a spike due to recent events between Iran and Israel, they gave back most of the gains shortly after. Christopher emphasizes the importance of considering historical data and long-term trends when analyzing gold price movements. Chris discusses how the Dow Jones and gold have been trading in lockstep due to the preoccupation with Fed policy. They note that during past bull markets, average investors shifted funds from stock indexes into gold or silver when they underperformed. However, the current cycle shows a flat Dow to gold ratio for the last eight years, suggesting mainstream investors are yet to enter the precious metals sector. The potential implications of this situation and its impact on future market performance are emphasized. Despite gold ETFs losing gold holdings as mainstream investors sell their shares even during price surges, they predict gold should come back to retest its recent highs before experiencing a multi-year trend of significant new highs. Christopher shares his insights from the 2008 financial crisis and how he now prioritizes price data over fundamental analysis. They also touch upon historical gold price trends, including how gold always retests breakout points after significant price increases. Christopher discusses the potential catalyst for the Federal Reserve to shift from its hawkish stance being a global or regional war. He suggests that higher interest rates may lead to higher commodity prices and emphasizes the need for markets to reconsider their current beliefs. The conversation then shifts to silver, which has broken its downward trend but faces significant resistance at $30 per ounce. Christopher is skeptical about silver's potential return as a full-time monetary metal in perpetuity but acknowledges the possibility during periods of financial instability. Chris emphasizes the importance of being aware and prepared amidst current turbulent times while also encouraging listeners not to stop living their lives. All this heat comes on the heels of the Annual Threat Assessment from the US Intelligence Community, which warned how Tik Tok has been, and will be, used to interfere in elections. Therefore, if anyone is opposed to such a bill, they must be in favor of China influencing our upcoming election. Here we go again. This is the same political maneuvering and grandstanding attempted with the border security bill that actually legalized millions of illegals and pumped billions into Ukraine, among other things, while ignoring existing laws that remain unenforced. Anyone opposed didn't want to secure the border, apparently. Why the executive provision in the bill isn't rewritten or removed, and TiK Tok still banned, is another question that may get to the real heart of why the House vote was bipartisan at 352-65.-FREE ARCHIVE & RSS: https://www.spreaker.com/show/the-secret-teachingsTwitter: https://twitter.com/TST___RadioFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/thesecretteachingsWEBSITE (BOOKS, RESUBSCRIBE for early show access): http://thesecretteachings.infoPaypal: rdgable@yahoo.comCashApp: $rdgableBuy Me a Coffee: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/tstradioSUBSCRIBE TO NETWORK: http://aftermath.mediaEMAIL: rdgable@yahoo.com / TSTRadio@protonmail.com

According to the annual "Threat Assessment of the US Intelligence Community" published by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence in February, it was concluded that the CCP will persist in its endeavors to fulfill President Xi Jinping's vision of positioning China as the foremost power in East Asia and a significant player on the global stage. As Xi embarks on his third term as China's leader, the CCP will strive to exert pressure on Taiwan for unification, diminish US influence, create divisions between Washington and its allies, and promote norms that align with its authoritarian system.

Tom welcomes back to the show, Christopher Aaron to discuss his perspective on the markets. Gold and miners have seen an extreme lack of sentiment leading to prices down fifty plus percent for major companies, and even worse for exploration companies. This largely is a product of psychology and current price action, with investors waiting for a potential catalyst to decide where gold is headed. Chris explains his approach to metals markets, noting it's important that investing should not be focused on fundamentals alone, since they can lead to blinders when markets do not perform the way expected. He uses charts to demonstrate the flat Dow-Gold ratio in the past few years, signalling that we have entered an uncharted area with regards to freely traded gold. An impulsive move is likely to occur in the coming months in favor of either stocks or gold. Christopher also talks about possible technological advancements, as well as his expectations for gold's movement in the next one to two years. Today's show starts with the arrest of an Israeli professor in Cypress. Gal Luft is charged on suspicion of being an arms dealer to China and Libya. Why am I opening with this story? Because the sub headline to the story adds -- Gal Luft rejected the accusations leveled against him and claimed he was arrested in relation to Hunter Biden's criminal investigation. It seems there is another layer to the Hunter Biden story and the Biden regime may be doing all it can to silence those with evidence of their wrongdoings. Miranda Divine, reporter for the New York Post, weighs in on this and says there are far too many corroborating details to just ignore. We now combine that story with even more detail over the letter signed by 51 members or ex-members of the US Intelligence Community regarding the Hunter Biden laptop. The more we dig, the more we see the Biden campaign was behind that letter. If we want to get into a discussion over presidential election interference, what more do you need? If we can impeach a president on an edited rumor over a phone call, I'd like to think the Biden Crime Family has a lot more evidence of to pursue than that! Next, I bring you some of the highlights of the first hour of my filling in for the nationally syndicated Erick Erickson Show. That topic relates to the new Biden Rule going into effect on May1. Starting them, folks with good credit scores will have to pay a higher price to help subsidize the loans of those will lesser credit. You heard that correctly. Your good credit is now going to be as a reason to penalize you financially so someone with a bad rating can be rewarded. This is the problem with the word equity versus equality. While the latter is all about giving you a fair chance to do the right thing, the former actually rewards you for not. Equity strives for sameness and Democrats are saying it's not fair for someone who was financially responsible to get a lower interest rate than someone who was irresponsible. That's equity. And you cannot get any more backward and divisive than that! Take a moment to rate and review the show and then share the episode on social media. Tom welcomes back to the show, Christopher Aaron. He discusses his new analysis that he recently discussed at the Vancouver Resource Investment Conference. He discusses the history of gold and miners over the past few years. We've seen a period of consolidation of the last couple of years, but that is shifting. In September, we didn't see a wash-out in the metals after a breakdown. Instead, we went above the 1650 level. Buyers started to move into the market, which was different behavior than what we have seen. The big picture is we have seen a false breakdown that doesn't carry through. Numerous shorts had to cover following that event. The key takeaway is a false breakdown is a signal for a move in the opposite direction. The big picture is this market should now be biased to the upside. He expects a good end to the year for gold. He believes the next rally towards the 2000 level will be successful. The first sign will be that the monthly close will prelude a breakout to new all-time highs. He provides some targets for where gold should reach. Chris discusses what is realistic for silver markets in the coming couple of years. Eventually, when we reach the $45 dollar level, investors may want to take some profits. It probably won't blast through it right away. He discusses some of the industrial demand factors for silver. He believes that inflation will plateau around the 4.5% range, and later it may rise higher. This is not what markets are expecting. Valuations for miners are quite low, and the price for reserves in the ground is quite low. We're looking at 5x to 10x lower valuations than ten years ago. He notes that sentiment remains quite low in the miners and metals. Only very prudent investors are moving into metals. He notes there are those who like to keep the population in a state of fear and concern. They like the state of perpetual war, and fiat currency is what permits this behavior. They want to keep people on the taxation and inflation treadmill. We need a system that prevents government from spending beyond its means. What is important to keep in mind is that society in many ways is progressing. Despite the bad things, there is a lot of potential, and it's important to keep space for possibility and optimism. Twitter was turned into a cutout for the US Intelligence Community to create and amplify preferred narratives, while crushing others. The company had a direct line to a San Francisco-based FBI agent named Elvis Chan. Julie Kelly at American Greatness has more: According to a lawsuit filed by Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt against numerous government agencies and officials for conspiring with media companies to silence free speech, Chan was one of two FBI agents who urged Facebook officials to censor content related to Hunter Biden's laptop before the 2020 election. “Pursuant to the third-party subpoena, Meta [Facebook's parent company] has identified—Elvis Chan as involved in the communications between the FBI and Meta that led to Facebook's suppression of the Hunter Biden laptop story,” Schmitt wrote. (The other agent was Laura Dehmlow, a section chief for the FBI's Foreign Influence Task Force, another politically-motivated operation created by FBI Director Christopher Wray in 2017.) Both Chan and Dehmlow are defendants in the lawsuit. Mark Zuckerberg repeatedly has admitted that FBI agents warned Facebook officials to be on “high alert” for a “dump” of news that could be the result of foreign actors attempting to interfere in the 2020 election; the news dump that followed was the New York Post's explosive reporting on the laptop, just weeks before Election Day. The company immediately announced it would reduce visibility of the Post's articles until “fact checkers” could verify it was not the work of a foreign interference campaign. Twitter locked the Post's account for two weeks and blocked users from sharing articles, flagging the links as “potentially harmful.” The primary conduit between Big Tech oligarchs and the FBI appears to be Chan. Schmitt's lawsuit accuses Chan of playing a “critical role for FBI—in coordinating with social-media platforms relating to censorship and suppression of speech on their platforms.”      Get exclusive content here!: https://thepetekalinershow.com/See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

In Today's episode I'm talking with Patrick Campbell, founder & CEO of ProfitWell. Today's conversation is going to be all about pricing, particularly, how you price your product during this kind of recessionary environment that we're in. We'll talk about whether or not we're actually in a recession. We're going to have a specific emphasis on SaaS products, software as a service, because Patrick specializes in that, but if you're not in SaaS, there will be tons of applications, gems, takeaways that you can apply to your business. This conversation is value packed, like Patricks framework for communicating pricing changes to your customers and how frequently you should be making those price adjustments. ProfitWell was recently acquired by Paddle and we'll talk about the acquisition in this episode too. So what does ProfitWell do? It is a software for helping subscription companies with their monetization and retention strategies. We've been using it for years and years and years. In fact, I have ProfitWell t-shirts that I still wear all the time. I feel like it's almost a t-shirt of my own company because I just look at my ProfitWell dashboards and metrics all the time. It feels like an internal tool. That's how much I love ProfitWell. Prior to ProfitWell, Patrick led strategic initiatives for Boston-based Gemvara and he was an economist at Google and with the US Intelligence Community. So super smart guy. Patrick, so glad to have you here. This conversation was recorded during one of our Organize Chaos Livestreams. Follow me on LinkedIn so you don't miss announcements for our next livestream!
