On today's episode, we're going even deeper into my stalker situation. I'll be sharing more details about his delusional tendencies—including how he's gone as far as pretending to be a police officer to manipulate and control people (which is a crime, by the way). I'll also be answering the questions I've received from you all about this ongoing situation.Law enforcement is now more involved (actual police, not to be confused with blue light bandits), we know everything, and we'll be handling it all legally. A couple weeks ago, author John Girolamo spoke with us about dangers from online predators. Today, we have the second segment of that interview. Mr. Girolamo gave suggestions for protecting our children from his new book It's All About the Predator. For instance, he warned us about passing out personal information online, and he suggested we give our kids dumb phones that only do calls. We should also examine our children's phones from time to time to see what apps they might have added. He said parents need to active and involved with their childrent to protect them.
Technology has made our lives easier but has also brought serious risks. Today predators attempt to get to your children and entice them into hurtful relationships. How can we protect our children? Parents need to be informed. John DiGirolamo has researched internet safety and has published several books. He gave information from his book, It is Not About the Predator.

Researching and thinking about the Delphi case requires us all to think about dark subjects most people are not be familiar with– topics such as internet predators and child sexual abuse materials. We feel that it would help us all understand better what happened in Delphi back in 2017 if we were able to get more context in those areas. So we have decided to begin a series of interviews with experts who have spent their careers studying these matters in order to get the benefit of their knowledge. We are beginning this endeavor by talking with David Finkelhor. Dr. Finkelhor has been researching issues involving child victimization, child maltreatment and family violence since 1977– which is even before there was an internet. He is the Director of Crimes against Children Research Center, Co-Director of the Family Research Laboratory, Professor of Sociology, and University Professor, at the University of New Hampshire. At the end of the episode, we will have a few words about next Tuesday's episode as well as a bit of news about the future of the Murder Sheet. Recent developments in the Delphi murders indicate that an online predator may have played a role in the double homicide of 14-year-old Liberty German and 13-year-old Abigail Williams. Predators have been known to use the internet to catfish, groom, and prey upon underage victims. In this episode, the Murder Sheet will interview Cathy Frye about one such case that happened in Arkansas in 2002. A 47-year-old man named David Fuller posed as a young man online. He used that persona to grow close to a 13-year-old girl named Kacie Woody. Then, the unthinkable happened. This episode takes a break from our focus on restaurant homicides, and is part of our intermittent series of episodes on the Delphi case. Few thoughts are as daunting to parents as the potential impact, damage, and prevalence of pornography in the lives of modern kids. While we'd like to think it mostly lives in hard-to-reach corners of the internet, the reality is that it's only a few clicks away. But rather than let that fact frighten us away from the topic, we want to encourage parents to approach it straight-on, and our guests on this episode of Screen Sanity have done excellent work in helping us consider how to do so. Rob and Zareen Cope are parents from New Zealand and the producers of the documentary “Our Kids Online: Porn, Predators, and How to Keep Them Safe.” They join START co-founder Krista Boan to talk about the origins of the documentary, the harm that porn is causing a generation, and practical ideas for protecting and educating our kids.Screen Sanity is Executive Produced by Krista Boan and START.It is produced and edited by Mike Cosper for Cosper Productions.

Welcome to the podcast! Today, Forensic Psychologists Dr. Shiloh and Dr. Scott return to The Dad's Doomsday Guide to discuss Internet Predators, what you should be looking out for, and how this destructive force infiltrates every device and app your child touches. In a world that sees technology increasing at a rapid rate, individuals and agencies trying to curb internet facilitated sexual offenses are immediately at a disadvantage. Hundreds of thousands of IP addresses access child pornography through VPN software in the US alone, impoverished families pimp out their children online for monetary gain, and that's just the start. Fortunately there are many people attempting to thwart entities producing and disseminating this material all over the world, and dedicated psychologists working to identify predators that target children online. Dr. Shiloh and Dr. Scott cover a lot of ground in this episode, but if you're up for more, please be sure to visit their podcast, LA Not So Confidential, to take a deep dive into this subject as well as many others. Ok parents. I need everyone to gather 'round and listen up. We have a crisis on our hands and it involves our precious children. Look, most of us grew up in the age where technology was just starting to become a "thing", right? We had aol names and there were chat rooms and our parents had NO idea how to protect us from this stuff. Guys, it's been over 20 years since then and there hasn't been a whole lot of technology to help parents protect their kids from the online world and more than that, from predators.Remember that article that went VIRAL on Facebook a few months ago with the 37 yr old mom who posed as an 11yr old girl on FB and got floods of messages and videos and questions from adult men? Well, the company behind this ongoing task of catching the predators is Bark - an award-winning service founded in 2015 by a parent who was looking for a way to help keep his kids safe online while preserving their privacy. Bark covers 30+ of today’s most popular social media platforms, as well as texts, chat, email, YouTube, and files contained in Google Drive and OneDrive. Bark also monitors images, text within images, audio, and video.I had the true honor to speak with Titania Jordan, their Chief Parenting Officer, to follow-up on the story and ask some more questions. After I read the article, I felt so entirely helpless and like my 11yr old is NEVER getting a phone. So... pull up a stump around the campfire friends... we've got a lot to dig into. And I say this often, but for real, this time, you want to take notes.Links mentioned:https://www.bark.us/https://www.bark.us/blog/To get 20% off your Bark subscription, use code AUDACITY.Support the show (https://mmstuartco.com/livewithaudacity/)

They join us on this episode of "Win This Year" to share their experience and knowledge, in order to help families protect their kids.
