My guest this week is someone I had on episode 59 when we talked about her career as a trailblazer in the tough industry of advertising and her personal journey with IVF which also led to her instrumental role in shaping Singapore's policy on IVF. She's none other than Linda Locke.Linda is a highly awarded creative with over 300 awards to her name including a string of accolades from local, regional and international shows and a Gold Cannes Lion winner and part of the prestigious Cannes Lions judging panel. The 10th anniversary of the Singapore Advertising Hall of Fame Awards in 2008 saw Linda receiving the ‘Newsweek Lifetime Achievement Award' in recognition of her three decades of service to the Singapore Advertising Industry. Linda was the first woman to achieve the award. Linda's extensive experience and accomplishments makes it such an honour and inspiration to me. She's someone who breaks boundaries, challenges the status quo and works with great tenacity for what she believes is the right thing to do.She calls herself stubborn, I see it as resilience and someone who always finds a way to make her ideas and dreams a reality.I invited Linda back because the last time we spoke Linda briefly mentioned her work to get Agnes, her great grand aunt's contribution at creating the first hybrid orchid and Singapore's national flower, the Vanda Miss Joaquim recognised. This episode is a little longer than usual because I really wanted to get the behind the scenes of how Linda worked with multiple parties locally and abroad and in some instances, rather high level parties, to reinstate the correct facts of the history behind Agnes' work with the Vanda Miss Joaquim orchid. Along the way, we talked about growing up today versus in earlier times, the impact of social media on our kids, storytelling, her new book series and more!So grab a coffee or take us on your walk, your work out or drive and eavesdrop on our conversation about pushing through boundaries, following through to the end to get the resolution we want, how to work through challenges and roadblocks when going for something you really desire, growing up, parenting and more!RESOURCESConnect with Linda on Instagram @godmotherbooks Linda's website Godmother Books Vanda Miss Joaquim: Singapore's National Flower & the Legacy of Agnes & RidleyEpisode 59 with Linda Locke - Inside the Mind of Linda Locke, Accomplished Leader In Advertising, IVF Warrior, Children's Book Author & Great Grandniece of Agnes Joaquim, the first woman in the world to create a Hybrid Orchid, Singapore's National FlowerTo get a taste of Linda's extensive accomplishments, please go to the EPISODE PAGE.Singapore Botanic GardensThe Royal Horticultural Society The Straits TimesEpigram Books

This week's podcast is an epic one!I talked to Linda Locke, accomplished leader in the advertising industry, IVF warrior, children's book author and great grandniece of Agnes Joaquim, the brilliant woman who created the first hybrid orchid and Singapore's national flower, the Vanda Miss Joaquim orchid in 1893.We talked about her advancement as graphic designer to senior leadership in the tough industry of advertising, her heart wrenching and triumphant journey with IVF, how she helped to shape the history of IVF in Singapore and so much more. Linda shares her wisdom about succeeding as a woman in a fast-paced, highly demanding industry like advertising and when she switched gears with her decision to become a mom. That decision led her right into her next role as IVF warrior and again, Linda is a trailblazer here, helping to shape Singapore's IVF policy. Here are the key points Linda touches on about that she thinks helped her succeed:Be persistent in getting the results you want. When things don't work out the way you want them to or when you encounter challenges, overcome them if you can. If you can't, find a way to work around them. Look for solutions and learn how to communicate your ideas and solutions effectively so that people buy into your vision.Get the results for people so that they trust that you're the person who can help them.Build trust by being authentic so people know what they see is what they get.Be transparent and direct with the truth.Be self-aware and know your strengths and weaknesses. Use your strengths and have people around you who can complement your weaknesses.Have mentors who can guide you and help you get better at what you do.Don't be afraid to ask questions when you don't know, then apply what you learnt. Think big, have a vision that's beyond yourself, then find the resources to make that vision happen.Linda's tenacity and resilience is clear when you hear her talk about her career and IVF journey. You will be inspired. This was such a wonderful conversation, I'm sure you'll enjoy it and learn a lot in the process!RESOURCESEpisode with Lagom KidsGodmotherbooks websiteGodmotherbooks InstagramLinda Locke's books on Epigramhttps://www.linkedin.com/in/sharonsinghsidhu/

Hi Mama, and welcome to another week! Woohoo! We've made it one week into 2021 so far! And here we are, still remote schooling, working from home, momming, and doing all the things. But guess what, Mama? We've totally got this! I know it may feel like our motherload often goes unnoticed, and the last year has heightened it more so for both parents everywhere. While the maternal experience is shared about more openly more and more each year, today, we are in for a treat! We bring to you a husband/ father/ therapist's perspective on motherhood and mental health. Meet Eli Weinstein, a social work therapist who has worked in a psychiatric hospital, intense outpatient clinic, and currently works in a community clinic in queens. I simply love connecting with people that I don't fully know their entire storyline. Last year with the Fit in Faith podcast, I only interviewed people that I knew, that I trusted, that I was able to even have in person. And before COVID, thank you, Jesus, for the idea, I felt going into 2020 I wanted to interview people from around the globe and it has just opened my eyes to so much. It gave me the opportunity to see how other people are activating and their own version of illumination, as well as how their faith is presented in their life and in their storyline, and all of the different components of their health. Today's guest, Eli Weinstein, is an incredible man of God, an incredible man of wisdom, an incredible man of just knowledge and intellect and also heart. And I love that he's a real guy. He's a therapist, and so often you think "doctor." And yet his podcast is called The Dude Therapist, which makes him so relatable. He is a new dad, a husband, and a public speaker. And he just has so many well-rounded pieces of who he is. And in this episode, he shares a lot about how that was developed and what personality traits led him to the career path that he has today. We talked a lot about emotional intelligence, which is something I'm currently learning a lot about and something he knows a lot about. So it was neat to hear his perspective as well. And so I would just encourage you if you are looking to just establish, maybe re-establish your mental health, your understanding of self, of others and the environment, this is an incredible podcast to round out your 2020 and give you fresh perspective, fresh desire to step in to this next season with just hope and grace for other people. Raine is from a rural/remote property outside of Katherine in the Northern Territory. She has been on a long pre-conception journey, navigating the world of fertility treatments and IVF specialists for many years. She is now in the third trimester of her pregnancy, having relocated to birth, and is expecting to give birth any day/week now. In this interview she shares her heartaches and the mental load she carried on this journey. She goes into detail about treatments and the different tests she has had. Raine shares how she has transitioned practitioners moving from Darwin to the Gold Coast to Melbourne to have her and her partners fertility care needs met. She generously opens up about the array of different avenues she has been down, on this journey towards conception, and reminds us that transitioning care providers can open up new pathways. Raine really appreciated the services and expertise of her IVF specialist on the Gold Coast as they always explored new alternatives and looked into the many reasons for conception struggles. She offers advice for both people moving through their own fertility journey and the support people who walk alongside them. This episode includes discussion of a variety of IVF treatments, embryo transfer, endometriosis, miscarriage and surrogacy. Raine's rural perspective is invaluable and we hope that listening to her story helps other people. Listen as we talk all about how our lifestyle and products we use can play a huge role on our fertility when trying to conceive and even IVF success rates. Whether you're just starting out TTC naturally or you're an IVF Warrior, it's worth hearing about how naturopathic treatment can support and compliment western fertility clinic treatments.
