POPULARITY
Praising Providence out of joy at the prospect of deriving sustenance for a long time on seeing a band of monkeys even as it emerged from a cave of the Vindhyan range on hearing their noise, the vulture king, Sampati (the elder brother of Jatayu), expresses his determination to eat them all up one after another. Depressed to hear the vow and declaring Jatayu, who had met his death at the hands of Ravana in the service of Sri Rama, while trying to deliver Sita from the former's clutches, as more fortunate than any of them, who were threatened with death even before accomplishing the purpose of Sri Rama, Angada reproaches Kaikeyi who was at the root of the whole mischief. Distressed to hear these words of Angada and telling Angada that he was the elder brother of Jatayu, and at the same time inquiring about the death of his younger brother, Sampati requests Angada to help him slide down from his high post adding that, his wings having been burnt, he was unable to fly.Recitation: 00:00 - 04:14Translation: 04:17 - 11:08
Sampati tells Angada how having once soared with his younger brother to the neighbourhood of the solar orb in his eagerness to test their relative strength and flying power, he had his own wings burnt in trying to save the wings of Jatayu by spreading his own wings over them as a canopy, and dropped on a peak of the Vindhyan range. Inquired by Angada if he knew anything about the abduction of Sita, he acknowledged his having seen a youthful lady being borne away by Ravana and crying out "Rama", which now leads him to think that she was no other than Sri Rama's beloved spouse. Sampati further tells Angada how, gifted as he was with an inordinately long vision, he could see Lanka, the capital of Ravana at a distance of one hundred Yojanas, as well as the place where Sita has been lodged. On his expressing a desire to offer water to the spirit of his deceased brother, the monkeys take him to the seashore and bring him back on his having concluded the rite.Recitation: 00:00 - 06:25Translation: 06:31 - 16:07
Jatayu gives up his life and is cremated by Sri Rama. Recitation: 00:00 - 06:44 Translation: 06:47 - 15:50
Sri Rama and Lakshmana meet Jatayu and, embracing the vulture, Sri Rama bursts into a wail. Recitation: 00:00 - 05:00 Translation: 05:10 - 12:08
Yo, let me tell you 'bout a bird with a mighty soul, Jatayu the vulture, his courage made him whole. He was a watching over Sita, a guardian soaring high in the sky. Defender of righteousness, 'til the day he would die. Now, Sita was stolen, abducted by Ravan on a golden chariot… The post Song: Jatayu, the Vulture appeared first on Radha Krishna Temple in Utah.

This week, The Musafir Stories speaks to lawyer turned travel entrepreneur Paro from rawdiaries.in!Today's destination: Gokarna, Karnataka Nearest Airport: Goa International Airport - GOINearest Railway Station: Gokarna Road Station (GOK)Prerequisites - NAPacking - Pack clothes for the beach, sunscreen, sunglasses and your flipflopsTime of the year - Oct to MarchLength of the itinerary: 5 daysItinerary Highlights: Paro starts with the origin story of Gokarna and the etymology of the name Gokarna which means cow's ear. She discusses the importance of gods Ganesha and Shiva to Gokarna as well as the important temples for these deities. We discuss the religious circuit of Gokarna which is also referred to as the Dakshin Kashi or Kashi of the south. The most important temples are around the Gokarna main beach. The Ganesha temple and Mahabaleshwar temple are the most important temples of the circuit. The Ganapathi temple is dedicated to lord Ganesha in the standing form, and relates back to the story of how Ganesha takes the form of a young brahmin boy to trick Ravana in letting go of the Atmalinga which was awarded to Ravana for his penance. The deity is in the standing form and also has short legs that reflect the episode with RavanaThe other important temple is the Mahabaleshwar temple that is dedicated to Shiva, it is believed that the atmalinga was placed here by lord Ganesh, who had taken the form of a young boy. The deity is usually submerged in water and only surfaces fully every 40 years. The third temple that is quite important is the Mallikarjuna temple, it is believed to be the only temple that is oval in shape and is a bit away from the Gokarna main beach. The architecture of the temple is really beautiful and offers one an opportunity to spend some time in solitude away from the crowds. The other important temples are the Ram thirth, Jatayu thirth and the Shiva cave that have their own significance. The Ram thirth has a very unique architecture and is situated very close to the beach and offers some great views. Moving over to the beach town of Gokarna, the best way to explore some of the prominent beaches is to do the 5 beach trek. It is best to start early in the day, preferably by 5am and takes about 5-6 hours to complete. The first beach is the Belekan beach, a rocky beach then going to Paradise beach. The third beach is the half moon beach that appears in a crescent shape from a height and has phytoplanktons that can be viewed at night. The next beach is the Om beach which is popular with the locals and has a variety of water sports. The final beach is the kudle beach that also has some water sports as well as shacks and restaurants. There are a couple of other beautiful and offbeat beaches including Nirvana beach and the Honey beach. One has to take a ferry to reach these beaches and hence they are not very crowded. Make sure to catch a sunset at kudle hilltop while in GokarnaThe other things one can indulge in includes cafe/shack hopping - important cafes include white elephant, Levis, half way home, mantra cafe, bhagwan cafe, Prema's cafe, Lagoon.Places in the vicinity include Murdeshwar temple town, Mirjan Fort, Yana caves, Vibhuti falls and Honnavar. These places are within about 100kms from Gokarna. Located in the Raigarh district of Maharashtra, Ballaleshwar is considered to be the third among the Ashtavinayaka. The shape of this temple is in the shape of "Shri", with big ponds on both sides. According to mythology, there lived a Seth couple named Kalyan and Indumati in the village of Pali. Their only sonBallal was a great devotee of Bhagwan Ganesha. Seth was not happy with his devotion, because his son, engrossed in devotion, did not take any special interest in business. Once Kalyan Seth angrily went out to look for Ballal, he was found in the forest worshiping Ganesha. He beat him severely and pushed him and also broke the idol of Ganesha. Seth tied him to a tree in the forest and left him saying that after being hungry and thirsty, his wisdom would come. After Seth's departure, Shri Ganesha, pleased with Ballal's devotion, appeared before him as a Brahmin. Ballal asked him to free him from bondage and asked for a boon.As a boon, Ballal requested him to establish himself in his area. Shri Ganesha fulfilled his wish and installed himself in a stone idol and then the Ballal Vinayak temple was built at that place. According to another belief, the place of Treta Yuga named Dandakaranya was here and it is here that Adishakti Jagadamba had appeared to Shri Ram. At a distance from there is the place where the war between Ravana and Jatayu took place at the time of Sitaharan. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Blessings of Goddess Mahalakshmi are essential for a bhakta. However, blessings of an Acharya who is filled with the grace of goddess Mahalakshmi are much more essential. We have heard about Jatayu who sacrificed his life to save Goddess Sita. Pennpillai unfolds the story of a woman who, disregarding the value of her own life, jumped into the river to save the life of her Acharya.

In order to save his brother Sampati shielded his brother burning his wings in the process. They both fell from the sky. Jatayu could not fly for days, while Sampati completely lost the ability to fly. When vanar sena was looking for mata Sita, they bumped into Sampati, living in a cave on the way to Lanka. When Sampati found out about Jatayu's death at the hands of Ravan, he decided to help Shri Ram find mata Sita by pointing them towards Lanka. Learn more about your ad choices. Despite living in this materialistic and sophisticated world, the stories of disciples from our ithihasas and Puranas never cease to amaze us. Penpillai comes with yet another story of a woman's acharya bhakti. Sabari, a disciple of Matanga muni, awaited the arrival of Rama, solely for the sake of the word foretold by her Guru. She gave motherly care to Rama who was completely shattered after the separation of Sita and the death of Jatayu, exemplifying patience, perseverance and devotion towards her Guru.
According to Sri Vaishnava Sampradaya, whoever serves Thaayar, becomes favorite to Perumal. Penpillai is guilty of not winning the blessings of Vaithamaanidhi Perumal by performing any kainkaryam to Kumudavalli Thaayar like Jatayu's kainkaryam towards Devi Sita. Jatayu, the King of Vultures, was unperturbed about the consequences when he fought with Ravana. He rather considered Rama Sita kainkaryam to be important over all his other duties. He put his life at stake, in the attempt to rescue Sita piratti. Even when lying stabbed to death, Jatayu continued the kainkaryam till his last breath.

It hit 41.5 degrees Celsius in Palakkad this week. In the blistering heat, there is an 89-year old man campaigning for the post of MLA from this storied town that sits in a gap in the Western Ghats between Tamil Nadu and Kerala. He is the legendary Dr Elattuvalappil Sreedharan, India’s most accomplished engineer. At his age, he has no need to prove anything to anybody. He has been awarded India’s second-highest civilian honor, the Padma Vibhushan, as well as the French Legion d’Honneur. I have suggested that he should be made President of India, because he would be a fantastic role model, and an inspiration to youth.Dr Sreedharan has frequently faced long odds in his engineering career spanning seven decades, and defeated them. There are very good reasons to honor him with a Bharat Ratna, the highest civilian award, as well, as argued delightfully by kaipullai who recounts the herculean tasks that Dr Sreedharan set himself. To take just three: the Pamban sea bridge, the monumental Konkan Railway and the Delhi Metro — all bhagiratha prayatnams. At the age of almost 90, when most people prefer to take it easy, he has taken on another huge challenge: he is on a mission to revive the BJP’s chances in Kerala. In 2016, after a fine campaign, the BJP had to be content with just one seat in the legislature. Conventional wisdom is that it will not get much more in 2021.There are several reasons for this grim forecast. One is the entrenched nature of the two fronts (LDF led by the CPI(M) and the UDF led by the INC) which have alternated in power for a long time. Another is the highly polarized nature of the electorate, where ideological metastasis has set in. The third is demography: Abrahamics, who tend to form vote-banks, make up more than half the voters. The Hindu vote has been fragmented. The numerically largest group, the OBC Ezhavas, have long been the backbone of the Communists. The next largest group, the FC Nairs, have been Congress supporters, but have moved somewhat to the BJP. Other groups, including SC, have been wooed by the BJP with little effect. In 2016, the BJP made an explicit call for Hindu unity by headlining their campaign around Sri Narayana Guru, Chattampi Swamikal, and Mahatma Ayyankali, who were respectively from the three groups mentioned above. However, groupism and internecine warfare especially among the Ezhavas and Nairs, along with tactical voting by both LDF and UDF, buried its chances.Several things have changed since then, though. See articles in the Indian Express and the Hindu about a consolidation of Hindu votes (although the articles may also represent the respective biases of the two newspapers). One big difference is that the Indian National Congress seems to be running a lackluster campaign. So much so that typical alternation every five years between the Communists and the Congress (much as between the DMK and the ADMK in neighboring Tamil Nadu) may not happen this time. The second is the changes in the previously monolithic Abrahamic vote. Christians of all stripes have viewed the Congress (and allies) as their own party. But now some of them, especially some Eastern Orthodox groups (as compared to the dominant Vatican-affiliated groups) seem to be vacillating a bit.The Muslim League has been a Congress ally, but this time they are being challenged by the more radical SDPI, which has made a strong alliance with the CPI(M). So the Congress, despite their safe Parliamentary seat in Wayanad for the current Nehru dynasty scion, can no longer count on the Muslim vote. There are also allegations that there are lakhs of illegal alien Bangladeshis and Rohingyas in the Kerala voters’ list. There are many lakhs of them working in Kerala doing everything from construction to plucking coconuts. It is not hard to believe that ruling parties (both LDF and UDF) have stuffed the rolls with them. There are regional differences too: Northern Kerala is Marxist and Muslim dominated; Central Kerala is Christian and Congress dominated; Southern Kerala is where Hindus may have a chance: and indeed the one seat the BJP captured in 2016 is Nemom, south of Trivandrum. The state has also been wracked with stories and rumors of large-scale corruption, including gold and dollar smuggling, scams in construction, deep-sea fishing boats, the sale of coronavirus patient data, and a whole lot more. Whether these have an impact on the ruling LDF’s chances remains to be seen. There are interesting twists. It is said that in 2016, the BJP spent 64 crore rupees, while the LDF spent only 14 crores, and the UDF somewhere in between. But there appear to be other, hidden factors. On March 25th, three boats with alleged Pakistan links were captured off Minicoy. So there could be unaccounted sources of money and muscle in the fray. There was also a tweet from Kanchan Gupta about what has happened in his native West Bengal, and, well, much of the same is applicable to Kerala as well. The only difference in Kerala is that there has not been a TMC here. However, the explicitly anti-Hindu nature of those in power is exactly the same. We saw this in the Sabarimala agitation, which brought tens of thousands of apolitical Hindu women on to the streets with lamps, to protest the desecration of their temple. People4Dharma (led by Shilpa Nair, Padma Pillai, and Anjali George) and Indic Collective (led by Adv J Sai Deepak) were able to arouse the silent majority out of their lethargy. There is also the fact that two of the most striking modern Hindu artifacts in the country are in southern Kerala: the Gangadhareswar murti at Aazhimala, and the Jatayu sculpture at Chadayamangalam, both in the suburbs of Trivandrum. This possibly means that if the NDA is able to energize injured Hindu sentiment, based on the continuous hostility of the LDF (e.g. contemptuous statements about Hindus by their leaders) and the UDF (e.g. an ostentatious slaughter of a calf and a beef fest conducted by their leaders), there is a possibility that the BJP may yet do better in Kerala than we think. If that happens, Dr Sreedharan may have pulled off yet another impossible dream. After the Story of Rama, a question might arise in your mind that why did Rama not return to his kingdom despite being stopped by his father and called back by his brother. Well, that's Rama. He believed that he needed to follow certain rules as a friend, king, master, son, and husband. He was the most loving husband who fought demon Ravana to save his wife Sita but at the same time, he did not accept her until he proved her loyalty towards him. Sita fearlessly entered the fire and emerged unfarmed, proving to the world her faithfulness. Ramayana is not just about Rama but also Sita. Sometimes it is also called “Sita Charitam”. Sita was called Janaki, daughter of Janaka and Maithili as the princess of Mithila. She was an ideal woman who was strong and fearless. Only she dared to counter-question, Rama. Sita is said to be discovered in a furrow in a plowed field by King Janaka. She is also referred to as Bhumi, daughter of Earth. She grew up as a wife child who questioned people about life and its ways. She at times also exhibited superpowers like once in her childhood she moved a huge and heavy trunk to get a ball. After she got married to Rama, during the time of Rama's coronation, they had to leave Ayodhya in exile. Despite being all the hardships one faces in the forest, Sita decided to accompany her husband no matter what. Sita lived happily in the forest with the wives of other sages until one day a demoness called Surpanaka happened to see Rama and was attracted to him. She approached him and urged him to marry her but Rama refused. Surpanaka unable to accept the rejection attacked Sita. Lakshman immediately cut off her nose. Screaming and wailing Surpanaka went to her brother Ravana, the fiercest demon. A few days later, Sita saw a golden deer, she was very insisted on getting the deer. Sita was instructed not to leave the protective line drawn by Lakshman. But she crossed the line and fell into the trap of Ravana. He grabbed Sita and put her into his Pushpaka vimana, a flying chariot. He chopped off the wings of Jatayu, the bird who fought bravely to save Sita. Sita threw all her jewels for Rama to follow the trail. Ravana took Sita to Lanka and placed her in the Palace garden. Sita had complete faith in Rama that he would save her. Therefore she paid no heat and attention to Ravana's threat. As she expected, Rama saved her with the help of Hanumana and Vanar Sena. Her joy knew no bounds but not for long. As practiced earlier, Sita was asked to prove her faithfulness. She chooses to give “Agnipariksha”. She came out of the fire unharmed and no one could question her loyalty. After all these, Rama was coronated as the King of Ayodhya and Sita, the Queen. Later, she was sent off to the forest where she had two sons. After years when she was summoned back to the palace as queen, she denied being one. Instead, she enters the Earth from where she came. https://chimesradio.com http://onelink.to/8uzr4g https://www.instagram.com/vrchimesradio/ https://www.facebook.com/chimesradio/ Support the show: https://www.patreon.com/chimesradio See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Eka Sloki Ramayana is the entire story of Ramayana recited in one verse. aadau raama tapovanaadi gamanam hatvaa mrugam kaanchanam vaidehee haraNam jaTaayu maraNam sugreeva sambhaash aNam | baalee nigrahaNam samudra taraNam lankaapuree daahanam pashchaat raavaNa kumbhakarNa hananametaddhi raamaayaNam Iti ekashlokee raamaayaNam sampoorNam || It means long ago, Lord Rama went to the forest, chased and killed the golden deer, Sita was kidnapped, Jatayu passed away, discussions with Sugreeva happened, Bali was killed, the ocean was crossed and Lanka was burnt. Then Ravana and Kumbakarna were killed. This is the story of Ramayana. Ramayana, which means the journey of Rama, is a Hindu epic describing the entire life of Lord Rama along with his wife Sita. Lord Rama is said to be a dutiful son, an ideal husband, a loving brother, a reliable friend, a remarkable king, and a perfect human being. Despite his noble traits, he was very humble and friendly. He is considered the seventh avatar of Lord Vishnu. This avatar was to show the world how a human being should be. The entire life of Rama was very eventful and thrilling. Rama was a prince born to King Dasharatha and his wife Kaushalya. Dasharatha had two more wives Kaikeyi and Sumitra who also had their own sons. The four brothers Rama, Bharata, Lakshman, and Shatrughna were inseparable. During the time of Rama's coronation, Kaikeyi wanted her son to be made the king, so she asked Rama to go to the forest for 14 years. Rama agreed to go to the exile. Lakshman and Sita accompanied him. They helped many sages and defeated many demons throughout their time of exile. Rama was not only a great friend to humans but also animals. He befriended Sugriva, The Monkey Lord, and promised to protect them from his wicked brother. Jatayu the bird, tried to save Rama's wife Sita from Ravana but got its wings chopped off. Rama wept and thanked him for his service. Rama also welcomed Vibhishan from the enemy camp and expressed his love to everyone. Rama considered Hanuman to be his other brother without whom finding Sita could have been impossible. As per Hindu beliefs, Rama is the legendary deity who is still alive in the hearts of entire mankind. www.chimesradio.com http://onelink.to/8uzr4g https://www.facebook.com/chimesradio/ https://www.instagram.com/vrchimesradio/ Support the show: https://www.patreon.com/chimesradio See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

From Ramayana, this is the story of how eagle Sampati found out about his brother Jatayu and shared an important information about Devi Sita with the vanara sena.
Ramayana exemplifies the glories of many birds and animals who served Rama in his battle against Ravana. Jatayu was one such valiant eagle who fought with Ravana single handedly.

Shrimad Bhagavata Mahapurana Synopsis of the Tenth Session - Part 1 Bhagavata Dwitiya Skanda (Book Two) Chapter 4 to 10 ————————————— The four short stories which present the essence of 'Book Two' in a nutshell. Story 1: There was ones a place, where there was a norm followed. The norm was, that a King would get to rule the Kingdom for only 21 years. After the time of his rule was over. He would have to depart to the jungle, empty handed and alone. The citizens would cry for they know that now there was a difficult life in store for this King. The king would also weep, knowing that hardships he was to face, for all he knew he would be eaten up by a wild animal. Now, in the same Kingdom, came a very smart King. During his reign of 21 years, not only he ruled the kingdom, well, but he also ensured, he worked on the development of the Jungle. He made a jungle a safe, nice peaceful dwell, with all that was needed to survive, along with a nice house and well etc. When his time to leave the Kingdom came, the people cried, as not only were they losing a just ruler, but also worried about the hardships he would face. But, the King, left happy and at peace, sure to be safe and secure. Story 2: In Ramayan, if you remember, when Jatayu was injured trying to save Sita Ma from Ravan. He fell down, as his wings were severed by Ravana. In this state, he kept his prana, waiting for Ramji, in order to tell him, what had happened. Now, when Ramji came, he said, “My dear Jatayu, I can help you. I will give you back your life and restore you, with my powers” To this, Jatayu said, “No no, I don't want even a single breath beyond this. The wise people, spend all their life, working very hard, so that when their last breath comes, they are quickly able to connect to you, your thought and your name, and throw everything else away. It takes immense ‘Tapasya', just for that name to comes to ones lips, when the soul is ready to depart, as entangled one is by your maya, in the worldly attachement. But, look at how lucky I am, I have you right in front of my eyes, you are holding me. The purpose of my life, has been accomplished, what will I do with more breaths.” Story 3: There were two very close friends, but it just so happens that one of the friend suddenly stopped calling. The other friend got concerned. He went upto his house and knocked, but no one answered. He waited and wondered, and then saw and open window. So, he climbed into the house thought the window. When he entered, he saw that his friend was lying unconscious and the house was in a mess, there was nothing to eat. He called the doctor, cleaned the friends nursed him back to health, cleaned the house and filled the grocery. This other friend, was thankful and asked, “I never called you, yet you came, how?“ This man said, “The window was open, I got concerned about you and entered from there.” Story 4: Someone went to Brahma Loka, and he looked down and was very sad to see the suffering down below and felt he was selfish to seek his own salvation. So, He told the Lord, “Please grant me permission to live in everybody's heart'. The Lord in astonishment said, “I am already there, what will you do?” He said, “You my Lord, is only the witness of the joy and sorrow. I will not disturb your witnessing. What I will do is, I will just let all the sorrows come to me, and let the people experience only happiness.” The Lord laughed with joy, when he heard such loving words of his devotee. ——————————— “These four simple stories which answer the question of ‘How to die?', and ‘How to live?'” Story 1: This life is not the end, it is the means to the end. Don't forget. Story 2: Work hard, so that you are able to bring yourself up to the level, where connecting to the Lord is easy, in any situation. Story 3: It is hard, but keep listening to Hari Katha, do Hari Kirtan, Sing the praises of the Lord. Before you know through...
En este vuelo presentamos al personaje de Jatayu, Rey de los Buitres en el "Ramayana" y fiel protector del príncipe Rama en su exilio. Jatayu representa una de las criaturas más importantes dentro del Hinduismo, y os hemos traído su historia.
All of us have the power of choice. We have the ability to make decisions for ourselves and not have others make decisions for us. We therefore have the ability to be our own individual self and we do not have to be like others whose character traits are negative and against the laws of righteousness (dharma). In this episode, the Vaanars meet with Sampati who is the brother of Jatayu. The Vaanars thought that Sampati (who is a vulture) would feast upon them and they were fearful of their encounter with him. One of the Vaanars named Angada speaks out to Sampati and basically tells him that he does not have to be the same as other vultures that kill for food and cause pain and sufferings to others. Angada make a reference to Jatayu who was a devotee of the Lord in the hopes that Sampati will be a devotee of the Lord.
