Swag. Unique. FUN. Pearls. "The Cheese." Joctober. These are just some words to describe one of the funniest guys in Major League Baseball. Joc Pederson joins the program to talk "Self Talk." How does he get through the low times? Why is he so great in the big moments? Who empowered him to be "HIM" early on in his career? He's an absolute party and he hits big time bombs. Enjoy this one!
Can the Giants generate another winning season with this current roster?
Locked On Giants – Daily Podcast On The San Francisco Giants
The Giants are hoping for another Joctober. Joc Pederson has been an October baseball staple over the course of his career, and he joins the SF Giants on a one-year deal. Matthew Boyd, an intriguing depth signing for the rotation, also joins the team for 2023. However, the news of these two signings was overshadowed by the Dodgers acquiring yet another superstar in his prime, inking Freddie Freeman to a six-year deal last night. On today's Locked On Giants podcast, host Ben Kaspick talks about how Pederson and Boyd will fit the Giants, and why he understands fans' disappointment at the relatively small moves compared to the Dodgers' acquisition of Freeman. The Giants have spent money this offseason, but they've really spread it around and haven't made any commitments longer than three years. Anthony DeSclafani, Alex Wood, and Brandon Belt were re-signed. Alex Cobb and Carlos Rodón were added to the rotation. Pederson joins the offense, and the likes of Boyd, Jakob Junis, and Carlos Martínez are depth signings for the rotation/bullpen. Ben also discusses the official changes to the schedule to make up the six games that were lopped off from the beginning of the year. The Giants make up the games in some tough ways in Milwaukee, and now end the year on the road against the Padres. The Dodgers get the advantage of ending the season with six home games against the lowly Rockies, who, by the way, signed Kris Bryant to a seven-year, $182 million deal yesterday.Find and follow Locked On Giants on your favorite podcast platforms:

4 more teams fall, only 4 remain, it's time for championship series baseball. Join Adam, Brian, and Noah as they break down the endings of the divisional games, and the first couple games of the series to decide the winners of the conferences. Noah is riding the high of monster Red Sox grand slams, Adam is wondering why managers are being interviewed during playoff games, and Brian is still trying to recover from that checked* swing. At least now Brian can watch the Braves walkoff the Dodgers, and maybe he'll use that as inspiration to finish his walking homework. It's been a great season and with the playoffs nearing their apex, you don't want to miss a thing.

Joc Pederson is no stranger to playoff baseball. His latest act was a pinch hit 3-run HR to lead the Braves to victory. The Giants showed every ingredient of championship baseball in their Game 3 win at Dodger Stadium. All this (and more) on today's episode.

The Ravens had to withstand a 47-yard field goal attempt by Rodrigo Blankenship on the final play of regulation, but the Indianapolis kicker missed, sending the teams to overtime. NFL – Gruden out as Raiders coach Jon Gruden is out as coach of the Las Vegas Raiders after emails he sent before being hired in 2018 contained racist, homophobic and misogynistic comments. Gruden released a statement Monday night that he is stepping down after The New York Times reported that Gruden frequently used misogynistic and homophobic language directed at Commissioner Roger Goodell and others in the NFL. It was a rapid downfall for Gruden, who is in the fourth year of a 10-year, $100 million contract he signed with the Raiders in 2018. It started on Friday when the Wall Street Journal reported that Gruden used a racist term to describe NFL union chief DeMaurice Smith in a 2011 email to former Washington executive Bruce Allen. Boosted by shortstop Dansby Swanson's athletic defense, Atlanta can try to reach its second straight NL Championship Series when it hosts Game 4 on Tuesday. Pederson's homer in the fifth inning was his second of the series. He singled as a pinch-hitter in his only other at-bat in this series, and has driven in four of Atlanta's seven runs. This week's episode is a fun one! (Really all of them are, as you know...) On it, we discuss the infamous Bears vs. Packers matchup: what's at stake, why Da Bears can win, and what needs to happen in order for that to happen. As for the Falcons side, the Dirty Birds are back from across the pond with a W as part of their carry on! Kyle Pitts pulled out the tea cup for his first NFL touchdown celebration, Matt Ryan is playing like a hungry veteran, and next up is a beatable Dolphins team after this week(end)'s bye. There's still plenty of Atlanta sports to discuss, though, as the Braves are celebrating Joctober in style—pearls and all. As of this recording, they're one win away from beating the Milwaukee Brewers and advancing to the NLCS again (hence, Wisconsin Hate Week), and this time for Braves fans, it feels more like business than it does good fortune. Beers are from Humble Forager and Ology Brewing. Cheers!
