Ava Kaenel was nominated as a Beck's Player with Heart for her commitment and passion on and off the court and field. The thing she loves most about high school sports is simply the friendships and experiences she has gained. The team dynamics are also something she loves about sports because they can come from any background or grade level and still come together and work hard for the love of the same sport. She would not have the friendships she has now if it weren't for high school sports. Ava is a three-season student-athlete and competes in volleyball, basketball, and softball. She is also involved in FFA as the vice president, NHS as the treasurer, FCCLA, musical productions, the Montello Chamber Choir, the Academic Bowl Team, and participates in Solo Ensemble. She was selected as the 2024 November Student of the Month by the staff in her building. Through her participation in FFA, she can be involved in the community and its activities. She helps and plans the Montello Westfield FFA Alumni Wildlife Banquet, MHS 4th, 5th, & 6th grade Safety Day, the Montello Trap Shoot, and the Harrisville Sportsman Club trap shoot. This year she has also worked with her officer team to cook a meal for the families at the Ronald McDonald House in Madison. Although she does not come from an agricultural background, Ava has gained all her agricultural experience through FFA. She has plenty of respect for agriculture, hard work, and dedication throughout the industry. Without exposure to ag classes, Ava would not have become the greenhouse manager at her school. Although undecided, Ava is leaning towards attending Milwaukee Area Technical College and taking part in the radiology program in hopes of becoming an MRI technician after graduating high school.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

#51 - There are many ways to develop character, leadership, teamwork and so many other skills that will only help you throughout your life. And one of those ways is through volunteering. It is important to learn how to help others and give of your skills and time. It encourages generosity and selflessness and compassion. You can earn service and leadership awards, scholarships, and it is also very fun! These are traits that many colleges and employers look for in potential students and employees. But until recently, it was often challenging to find volunteer opportunities. Keeping track of hours, verifying those hours, and keeping it all organized to submit to advisors, counselors, clubs, programs or colleges was also a little daunting. But not anymore. Today I am speaking with the CEO and founder of Volunteer Crowd which is a phenomenal resource for middle school and high school students to find and gain volunteer experience. You can search for volunteer opportunities not only in your city but by zip code, as well. You can search for specific types of volunteering you want to do. There are even Zoom-based opportunities. Not only that, this site will create a transcript of your hours, your strengths, and references about your personality and character. They will verify everything for you. Everything that used to be floating around on various pieces of paper, or worse, lost is all kept together in one tidy transcript that colleges and employers love. Volunteer Crowd allows you to enjoy the experience without the headache of keeping track of the hours.Show notes for this episode can be found at:howtolife.com/051

But in the years that followed, Camille discovered things about her mother that would give her a whole new appreciation for the parent she lost. On this episode, Camille shares her story. The U.S. EPA will announce this week it wants to relax Obama-era targets on vehicle pollution, setting in motion a potential war with California. Meanwhile, greenhouse gas emissions from transportation keep rising, overtaking all other sectors in the country. Climatewire reporter Camille von Kaenel explains what to expect. Margo Oge, the former EPA official who negotiated the Obama targets, and Robbie Diamond, the CEO of Securing America's Future Energy, also chime in. "Trump to allow more car pollution. But by how much?" (Climatewire, 03/26/2018), by Camille von Kaenel: www.eenews.net/stories/1060077379
California has mostly cleaned up its smokestacks but air regulators say it won’t meet its ambitious climate goals without tackling its car culture. But in the San Francisco Bay Area right now, more people are driving and they’re driving farther. In this special episode, Climatewire reporter Camille von Kaenel talks to a “super-commuter” who lives hours from work because she can’t afford to live closer.

Carol von Kaenel is a Reiki Master who lives and teaches in Saratoga Springs, NY. She provides Reiki treatments and teaches classes for Reiki I and Reiki II. She also trains master candidates. Carol is a member of the Reiki Alliance and was a board member of the Northeast Reiki Gathering. Carol learned Reiki in 1992 and fell in love with it. She had been saying for years that she didn't know what I wanted to be when she grew up. She would say this as a joke AND it was true. What Carol finally discovered was that she wanted to teach people how to do this wonderful thing for themselves, to give them access to energy in a powerful and delightfully useful way, to accept responsibility for their own healing - and then to offer it to others, if they chose. HawayoTakata wished that Reiki would become as common as aspirin.
