Today's Locked on Ole Miss podcast we talk about the transfer portal and Damien Martinez from the Oregon State Beavers and how he would fill a role not a hole for the Ole Miss Rebels in 2024.  We break down this 232 lb Running Back as being something different and able to add the fear of a dominating run game for Ole Miss.  We talk Ulysses Bentley and Kedrick Reescano and the Ole Miss RB room right now and add Logan Diggs the LSU Tigers transfer and potentially Henry Parrish Jr who got into the portal for the Miami Hurricanes yesterday. In the second segment of the show we about all of the smoke surrounding Tyler Baron from the Louisville Cardinals and where the conversation really blew up yesterday after a tweet from Brandon Marcello.  And talk about what Lane Kiffin and Pete Golding could do with this front seven + Tyler Baron.  Princely Umanmielen and Walter Nolen are the stars but it is another example of filling a role not a hole. In our final segment of the day we talk about Key Lawrence and the absolute bizarre fact that Ole Miss Rebels had two Key Lawrences on their roster and how the weirdest media storm ever happened.  WANT MORE OLE MISS SPORTS CONTENT?   Follow and Subscribe to the Podcast on these platforms:

Today's Locked on Ole Miss podcast we talk about Chris Pooh Paul the transfer from the Arkansas Razorbacks and what his role will be for the Ole Miss Rebels and what type of player he will be.  Pete Golding for the first time will have a true leader at the LB position with Pooh Paul.  Jaxson Dart also recruited this player heavily much like Princely Umanmielen and this will raise a front seven's profile for Lane Kiffin defensively. In the second segment of the show we talk about John Saunders Jr and the competition that this player will be in for his job in 2023.We talk about Yam Banks from South Alabama Jaguars, Key Lawrence from the Oklahoma Sooners and Louis Moore from the Indiana Hoosiers and see that him and Trey Washington will have their work cut out for them in 2024. In our final segment of the day we talk about the Jaxson Dart legacy in 2024 and with the knowledge that Dart led the recruiting effort in 2024 this season could be a statue level season for Jaxson Dart and Lane Kiffin.  Also we talk about Akylin Dear the RB from Quitman, MS visiting practice yesterday.  https://thegrovecollective.com/marchtovictory WANT MORE OLE MISS SPORTS CONTENT?  Join our Subtext communityhttps://joinsubtext.com/lockedonolemiss  Follow and Subscribe to the Podcast on these platforms:

Today's Locked on Ole Miss podcast we talk about how the Ole Miss Rebels players are talking about two of the transfers already in Key Lawrence and Trey Amos.  Lawrence is a Defensive Back prospect that came from the Oklahoma Sooners and is fighting with fellow transfers Yam Banks from South Alabama and Louis Moore from the Indiana Hoosiers.  That safety battle will be one to watch for Ole Miss this spring.  Trey Amos from the Alabama Crimson Tide is the other player that gets mentioned because of his battles with Tre Harris that has gotten everyones attention. In the second segment of the show we talk about Keelon Russell a Quarterback from the Lone Star State that is currently committed to the SMU Mustangs that is currently visiting around the SouthEast including the Florida Gators and the Ole Miss Rebels.  We also talk about Chris Beard getting an Extension for Ole Miss Basketball that he definitely deserves.  Now Chris Beard and his staff can concentrate on the Transfer Portal and get ready for 2025.  In our final segment of the day we talk about Coach Yo being named head coach of the Bahama Women's National Team which is an unbelievable honor.  We also talk about Ole Miss Baseball Outfielder Treyson Hughes challenging Jaxson Dart to a throwing competition on X and Dart's rebuttal.  https://thegrovecollective.com/marchtovictory WANT MORE OLE MISS SPORTS CONTENT?  Join our Subtext communityhttps://joinsubtext.com/lockedonolemiss  Follow and Subscribe to the Podcast on these platforms:

Today's Locked on Ole Miss podcast we talk about the Ole Miss Rebels Defensive Backs going into the 2024 football season and how Pete Golding is trying to fix the deficiencies the 2023 Ole Miss Defense had. Trey Washington and John Saunders are returning after being a part of the defense at Ole Miss that was the best in a decade potentially. Golding and Lane Kiffin have decided to Improve the defense with Starters from Power programs such as Trey Amos, Amorion Walker, Louis Moore and Key Lawrence in the Transfer Portal as well as a G5 star in Yam Banks. In the second segment of the show we talk about the Cornerback room specifically and look at what Zamari Walton and Deantre Prince were as players and why Chris Graves was a starter vs the Georgia Bulldogs. Ole Miss needed to get more athletic at Cornerback in 2024 and they did just that by bringing in Trey Amos from the Alabama Crimson Tide and Amorion Walker from the Michigan Wolverines. That with the return of Graves and the Signing of JUCO Cedrick Beavers puts Ole Miss and Pete Golding in an advantageous but dangerous position. In our final segment of the day we talk about the safety position with the addition of Moore, Lawrence and Banks but also look at a lottery ticket that Ole Miss has in Jadon Canady from the Tulane Green Wave. This is the position room that will determine Ole Miss' 2024 fate. WANT MORE OLE MISS SPORTS CONTENT? Join our Subtext communityhttps://joinsubtext.com/lockedonolemiss  Follow and Subscribe to the Podcast on these platforms:

Post-Game Podcast: Sooners beat 19th-ranked Jayhawks after Dillon Gabriel's return| Can the defense get back to early season success?| Offense was DOMINANT| Big recruiting visit weekend| Could OU lose a commit soon?  00:00 - Podcast intro 02:00 - Sooners QB Dillon Gabriel is BACK and he made his presence KNOWN with a HUGE day after missing the last 1.5 games! Brandon and Parker talk about how his return might prove he is the most valuable player in college football TO HIS TEAM! His return helped OU put 701-yards on a good defense and the 19th-ranked team in the nation. 10:00 - The defense showed improvement but has so, so much still left to improve upon. Still, big plays were made by CJ Coldon, Dashaun White, and a few others today. How much does getting DG back help the Sooners' defense? We know DG is an offensive guy, but his presence means so much to both sides of the ball. Also, the duo talks about how to take small victories in things after the last three weeks' performances on defense and names young players like Robert Spears-Jennings and R Mason Thomas making a case to be bigger roles. 17:30 - Sooners' offensive line has been good and physical in the OU run game, and Eric Gray and Jovantae Barnes have had some big-time success because of Andrew Raym, Anton Harrison, Wanya Morris, Chris Murray, and McKade Mettauer have been really good on the line of scrimmage. Texas knew all OU could do was run the ball, and still, in the wildcat, the Sooners were moving the ball on Texas some due to OL's physicality. With Gabriel back, it helped even more with the threat of the pass and the fact OU's offensive line has started to "mesh," according to Anton Harrison. Talk a bit about what next year's OL could look like, too. 31:00 - Defensive line has to continue to improve and get WAY better. R Mason Thomas was flashing and causing some problems for KU QB Jason Bean, but there was a lack of QB contain at times and no pass rush from others on the DL to give Bean all day at times. Can't have that and be successful on defense. Others that played well at times were Jalen Redmond, Marcus Stripling, and a few others. 35:00 - How did Brandon and Parker feel the linebackers and defensive backs play? Who and where could there be an improvement? Key Lawrence play adequate? Shuffling of personnel help some? No pass rush hinders the DB's and Brandon and Parker discuss that. 43:00 - Players and Brent Venables talked about resting the players more this past week. How much did that help both physically and mentally on the field today and improve things in the end? They talk about BV quotes on that from post-game presser and dive into how that balance of resting and preparing can co-exist! 49:00 - Brandon and Parker give grades to all positions and overall team grades after the Sooners' 52-42 win over 19th-ranked Kansas Jayhawks. 1:00:00 - Big recruiting weekend with official visitors like four-star EDGE/DE Tausili Akana, four-star DL Kayden McDonald, and four-star DL commit Derrick Leblanc. Also, unofficial visitors like five-star QB commit Jackson Arnold with four-star LSU DB commit Ryan Yaites on campus Saturday. Also, they touch on 2023 four-star DE commit Colton Vasek visiting Texas. 1:14:40 - Podcast ends To learn more about listener data and our privacy practices visit: https://www.audacyinc.com/privacy-policy Learn more about your ad choices. In the opening take, Grant very much hates the weekly reveal of the College Football Playoff rankings. Then Lee joins to provide his thoughts on the latest CFP rankings and what a surprise the guys find themselves at a disagreement about something (4:30). Lee has been told that Woodi Washington is expected to be available to play Saturday against Baylor. Lee is very happy to have been wrong about the timetable for Washington's return (19:30). Will Washington be a full go? What does OU do with Key Lawrence with Washington coming back? Lee has a "dream scenario" and Grant has a more realistic scenario (23:35). What do we make of Billy Bowman playing safety at practice (34:00)? OU is at Baylor Saturday. We begin by breaking down the Sooners' offense against the Bears' defense (36:05). Can Chandler Morris' performance last week against Baylor tell us anything about what to expect from OU's offense (45:25)? Flipping the script over to OU's defense against Baylor's offense (51:05). Both the guys are feeling pretty good about OU's chances Saturday. Lee says history favors the Sooners (58:25). We do rapid fire picks on Michigan-Penn State/Purdue-Ohio State/Iowa-Minnesota/Texas A&M-Ole Miss/NC State-Wake Forest (1:02:45). | Like the show on Facebook: @westofeverest | Follow Grant on Twitter: @GrantBenson25 | Follow Lee on Twitter: @LeeBensonNews9

In the opening take, Lee is trying desperately to figure out what is going on with Billy Bowman. Then Grant joins the show and is immediately offended by something Lee said. OU is No. 8 in the initial College Football Playoff rankings, the guys provide their reactions to seeing the Sooners so low. Alabama being at No. 2 drives Grant crazy (6:55). With OU being at No. 8, does that mean the Sooners will have to go undefeated to make the Playoff? Yes OU still controls its own destiny, but Lee got a Tweet from a listener that presented an interesting end of season scenario that may exclude the Sooners from the Playoff (17:30). Grant says a fun hypothetical is the idea of Georgia, Michigan State, OU, Wake Forest, and Cincinnati all winning out. Lee runs down all 7 teams ahead of OU and says whether they control their own destiny, or not (25:55). Final thoughts on the CFP rankings as Grant complains about the committee ranking certain teams in order to prop up other teams moving forward (34:05). We transition to get Grant's thoughts on Lee's opening take about Billy Bowman and figuring out OU's best 5 players in the secondary (36:30). A listener question leads the guys to discuss Key Lawrence's role if/when Woodi Washington comes back (44:30). Lee reached out to a person who knows more about football than anybody on this podcast to find out how difficult it really is to move from safety to corner. There's also some insight into what OU's defense is trying to accomplish under Alex Grinch (49:50). Lee took a lot of notes on Caleb Williams' play against Texas Tech. We look back at a few of his best plays/throws and explain why they were so impressive for a freshman. His style of play is a mixture of Baker Mayfield and Kyler Murray's best attributes (58:45). Yes the defense played much better vs. Texas Tech, but Lee saw a healthy amount of things during the rewatch that should concern us moving forward (1:11:15). Will the OU-Baylor game kickoff at night, or will it be a 11:00 am kick (1:17:00)? Over to some Facebook comments. Will be ranked No. 8 light a fire under OU? And this is not the podcast for hilarious Texas stripper girlfriend monkey takes (1:19:00). We're actually not mad that OU has a bye week. Unfortunately we forgot to make formal picks for the week, but Grant goes down the list of some of the interesting games coming up in Week 10 (1:27:20). | Like the show on Facebook: @westofeverest | Follow Grant on Twitter: @GrantBenson25 | Follow Lee on Twitter: @LeeBensonNews9

And Caleb Williams was fantastic throwing for over 400 yards and 6 TDs. Eddie and Carey talk about the huge nature of this win before the bye week and how helpful that could be moving forward. No opening take today. We start by giving some love to Drake Stoops and then the rest of the OU receivers. Grant says the offensive gameplan against Texas Tech is what OU is going to have to do to win a Playoff Game. Grant wants to move on from Kansas, but Lee is not ready to just forget it totally. Lee's got a rant about why that Kansas game is still something to remember moving forward (9:20). Key Lawrence moving to corner looked to make a huge difference. DJ Graham returning also helped OU's defense. Just how important are cornerbacks in this defensive scheme (14:10)? Texas Tech's first two TDs were preventable. When Lincoln Riley says they're "close" -- this actually does look like OU is "close" to being much better. Isaiah Thomas had a nice game and OU was able to get more TFLs than they have recently (25:00). We go to "3 Word Reviews" that lead us to talking about Billy Bowman losing his Nickel job to Justin Broiles, Spencer Rattler taking a deep shot and experiencing a really cool moment, the first Playoff rankings come out this week and we tell you why you shouldn't care, finally an enjoyable OU football game, more Key Lawrence love, and a Marcus Major sighting (29:30). OU's on a 17 game winning streak. OU played 9 straight games and thank God the schedule has been easy. And Lee gives Grant credit for being the only person who correctly predicted Iowa State's season and Grant's picks on the podcast went 5-0 last week (52:30). | Like the show on Facebook: @westofeverest | Follow Grant on Twitter: @GrantBenson25 | Follow Lee on Twitter: @LeeBensonNews9

Stupid microphone) The guys briefly talk about attending a road OU game for the first time since 2008, Lee complains about how long it takes to re-watch games, and then they finally talk about Spencer Rattler playing his best game of the season. OU ran the ball well, Caleb Williams came in for a couple of plays, and we finish up the offense talk (19:15). Skylar Thompson played and he was very good throwing the ball against OU's defense that Lee says got outschemed quite a bit. Also OU struggled to tackle (29:15). Grant's not happy with OU being situationally awful and he points to K-State's biggest play of the game as an example. And Lee has a take on Key Lawrence dropping an INT (43:40). In the opening take, Grant applauds OU and Tulane for making sure the game is happening this weekend. Then Lee joins to discuss the worsening OU running backs situation. What does this do to OU's offense? Will other players switch positions to RB (7:50)? It's been reported that Theo Wease is injured (16:20). Lincoln Riley told us who was going to be playing on the O-Line this Saturday. Then a day later, the depth chart came out with at least one puzzling designation (20:10). Alex Grinch maintains that 8 players will get snaps on the inside of the D-Line and also that 6 different players will get snaps on the edge. Also we take a look at the Front 7 depth chart (29:15). Grant says the most interesting part of the depth chart is the secondary. Are we ready for a potential Justin Broiles revival? Has Lee overstated the potential impact of Key Lawrence (34:30)? Billy Bowman's listed with Jeremiah Criddell starting at the Nickel spot. Grant asks "is Billy Bowman what everyone thought Bookie was going to be?" (41:05). We jump into the OU-Tulane preview. Tulane's defense was dreadful against the pass in 2020. The Green Wave have a few pretty good players returning, but the Sooners' offense should be able to do whatever it wants (44:55). Tulane's offense scored a lot of points in 2020 and 10 starters return including QB Michael Pratt. A new Offensive Coordinator makes things a bit interesting. Pass protection was a problem for Tulane, but Grant tells us that they've got a pretty good offense that should be a nice early test for OU (56:50). The guys tell you what they want to see happen this Saturday. Lee focuses mostly on Spencer Rattler, while Grant provides more details from both sides of the ball (1:09:20). Making sure we mention that Tulane QB Pratt seems to be somewhat turnover prone (1:15:20). Finally, we make our OU-Tulane predictions (1:16:55). From here, we take a look at all the games featuring Big 12 teams in Week 1. K-State v Stanford is interesting. How is Stanford so bad all of a sudden? And Grant wants to know why this game is happening in Arlington (1:22:15)? West Virginia opens up at Maryland, which could be kinda interesting. Iowa State hosts Northern Iowa, which always seems to push ISU (1:26:55). Grant really like Texas hosting Louisiana. Lee's not sure what to think of this one (1:30:30). Texas Tech takes on Houston, OSU hosts Missouri State, Baylor is at Texas State, and TCU hosts Duquesne (1:32:45). Lee asks Grant if he wants to change his mind about Nebraska? Did Bret Bielema get a raw deal at Arkansas (1:36:00)? We close the show by making picks on the 5 biggest games of the week: Penn State at Wisconsin/Alabama v Miami/Indiana at Iowa/Georgia v Clemson/LSU at UCLA (1:39:40). | Like the show on Facebook: @westofeverest | Follow Grant on Twitter: @GrantBenson25 | Follow Lee on Twitter: @LeeBensonNews9

Then Grant gives his take on Caleb Williams, plus Spencer Rattler was not sharp (7:10). Lee names the offensive players who stood out to him Saturday beginning with Eric Gray's first appearance in an OU uniform (17:00). Mario Williams got a lot of targets Saturday and Jadon Haselwood made the catch of the day (21:45). It would seem Andrew Raym is the top center for the Sooners heading into the summer (27:00). Switching over to the defense as Lee talks about being down on the field seeing some of the new players in person, including Billy Bowman (35:00). Grant loves DJ Graham and he's got a super hot take about Graham's future (38:30). Clayton Smith looked awesome close up and Lee's incredibly excited to see how the Sooners use him this fall (41:45). Let's talk about Caleb Kelly. He looks to be in great shape and it would be super cool if he stays healthy in 2021 (46:20). Grant wants to talk more in depth about the secondary group touching on Josh Eaton, Key Lawrence, Justin Harrington, and more (50:00). We talk about all the players who did not play. Lee was most disappointed to not see Jalen Redmond out there (58:00). There's always random players who stand out in the spring game who never do anything ever again (1:01:45).
