Deion Smith is a transfer wide receiver formerly from LSU and Holmes Community College. He was the No. 1 JUCO prospect in the country last recruiting season and a JUCO All-American. And at long last he's set to join (read: practice with) the Rebels, according to reporting from Bruce Feldman of ‘The Athletic.'The 6-foot-3, 203-pound Smith has seemingly been on the verge of landing in Oxford since he left LSU two years ago. Now-fifth-year Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin personally recruited him in high school.Academic hurdles sent Smith to Holmes (Mississippi) Community College for a year. Even more coursework kept him from enrolling at Ole Miss in December and participating in spring practices. He officially reported, and physically stepped foot on campus, at Ole Miss on June 1. The saga was far from over. He's finally suiting up nearly two months later. What is Ole Miss getting? Smith is joining the Rebels in their third week of preseason camp. Ole Miss opens its title-chase of a 2024-25 season August 31 against Furman. LSU transfer wide receiver Deion Smith's two-year journey to Ole Miss is finally complete.Smith reported for preseason camp on Friday. He still has some academic hurdles to clear. Still, Smith, the No. 1 JUCO prospect in the country, is officially a Rebel.All-time Ole Miss great Shay Hodge joins Zach Berry (OMSpirit.com) in this Friday (August 2, 2024) edition of ‘The Flagship,' powered by College Corner, to break down Smith's potential impact. Our Sponsors:* Check out Mint Mobile: mintmobile.com/tocAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

Ole Miss Recruiting: Caleb Cunningham, Deion Smith update and more
Ole Miss last week landed Houston cornerback Isaiah Hamilton. Hamilton replaces Michigan's Amorion Walker. Walker transferred in during the winter and went through spring practices. However, he's since transferred back to Michigan. Walker was more potential than proven production. Hamilton, meanwhile, is a plug-and-play piece for the Rebels opposite Tre Amos. Amos transferred to Ole Miss from Alabama.Hamilton has an 86.9 PFF Grade since 2021. He's also compiled 12 interceptions, 18 pass break-ups, a 70.2 passer rating allowed and a 90.8 coverage grade over that span.More specifically, he addresses the final need for Ole Miss, which will remain active in the portal. Lane Kiffin and Co. are still offering wide receivers despite the returns of Tre Harris and Jordan Watkins and transfers of Juice Wells, Deion Smith and Marquis Willis.Actually, with Hamilton, the Rebels have one of college football's most enviable rosters, as Zach Berry and Ben Garrett of the Ole Miss Spirit explain in this edition of ‘The Flagship,' powered by College Corner. Our Sponsors:* Check out PXG: PXG.com/toc* Check out Tecovas: www.tecovas.com* Check out visit eufyofficial.com/videolock.Advertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

Today's Locked on Ole Miss podcast we talk about Lane Kiffin and the Ole Miss Rebels landing Isaiah Hamilton from the Houston Cougars in the Transfer Portal. We talk about what this Corner will allow them to do. In the second segment of the show we talk about Jacob Bostick a Freshman Wide Receiver from the Iowa Hawkeyes and Jack Hestera the recent offer from the Charlotte 49ers and why Lane Kiffin and George McDonald are going after WRs when they could have the best WR unit in the country with Tre Harris. Juice Wells, Deion Smith, Marquis Willis, Jordan Watkins and Cayden Lee. In our final segment of the day we talk about the Wide Receiver room led by Tre Harris for Lane Kiffin and how this unit has a chance to be the best in College Football this season. Juice Wells and Jordan Watkins have each become elite run after the catch inside receivers and Ole Miss can expect a real boost this May or June from Deion Smith, the JUCO WR from Holmes Community College. Today's Locked on Ole Miss podcast we talk about the winner from yesterdays detective work in Isaiah Hamilton from the Houston Cougars who listed Ole Miss in his Top 4 with Missouri Tigers, Alabama Crimson Tide and Michigan Wolverines as well. Him potentially joining Trey Amos and Brandon Turnage with Chris Graves and Cedrick Beavers has to make Pete Golding excited. In the second segment of the show we talk about Jacob Bostick a Freshman Wide Receiver from the Iowa Hawkeyes and yes we will make a few jokes about the Iowa Offense but we also tell you how this WR would fit in Ole Miss and their WR Room with the future Rebels included as well. Tre Harris obviously is the 2024 leader and he will have a FREE football camp for kids aged 7-12 in Lafayette, La as well.
Locked On Ole Miss - Daily podcast on Ole Miss Rebels Football, Basketball & Baseball
Today's Locked on Ole Miss podcast we talk about the some surprises that the Ole Miss Rebels and Lane Kiffin might recruit out of the Transfer Portal and specifically at the Wide Receiver position…Yes you heard that correctly so I put on my Sherlock Holmes hat and grabbed a pipe and started looking for clues for directions that Ole Miss and George McDonald and yes Jaxson Dart's instagram played a major role. This team already has Tre Harris, Jordan Watkins, Juice Wells, Deion Smith and Cayden Lee but they may be looking to grow that room. In the second segment of the show we talk about Isaiah Hamilton from the Houston Cougars and what type of role a Cornerback of this magnitude would have in this lineup that features Trey Amos, Brandon Turnage, Chris Graves and Cedrick Beavers already. And why this would allow John Saunders, Jaden Canady and Yam Banks to stay in the middle of the field for Pete Golding. In our final segment of the day we talk about the Running Back room post spring after the Kedrick Reescano defection. What does Ole Miss have currently with Ulysses Bentley IV, Jacory Croskey-Merritt and Henry Parrish Jr right now and how Ole Miss can fill the role of a thumper with personnel and two Tight End formations. Today's Locked on Ole Miss podcast we talk about the importance of Nick Saban on this Ole Miss Rebels football team for Lane Kiffin. It is a team with Jaxson Dart and Walter Nolen that will have plenty of expectations and Kiffin is leaning on his Saban lessons and building up those points with assistant coaches that have Alabama and Nick Saban backgrounds. Wes Neighbors, Pete Golding and Joe Cox join Lane Kiffin as on the field coaches with an Alabama Crimson Tide background but Charlie Weis Jr and William Vlachos also spent time in that building. In the second segment of the show we talk Cayden Lee as the WR Story of spring practice so far and he is someone that has gotten the upperclassmen attention and new WR coach George McDonald is even starting to move this guy around on the field. This is impressive for a guy that is competing with Tre Harris, Jordan Watkins and Ayden Williams and Juice Wells and Deion Smith will be coming soon. In our final segment of the day we talk about College Football 2.0 and whether or not you like it it appears to be here and the Rise of Personnel departments will be the next wave of college football and Ole Miss Rebels just hired a Personnel guy with 20 years NFL experience with the San Francisco 49ers and St Louis Rams to their personnel department that is becoming quite varied. Today's Locked on Ole Miss podcast we talk about Caden Prieskorn and his role in Lane Kiffin's offense with Jaxson Dart in 2024. Even with Tre Harris, Jordan Watkins, Deion Smith, Juice Wells, Ayden Williams and Cayden Lee there will be a role that can only be filled by a solid, productive Tight End in Caden Prieskorn or Dae'Quan Wright. The Ole Miss Rebels are positioned for a 2022 Tennessee Volunteers type of explosive offense but a lot will depend on the Tight End position. In the second segment of the show we talk about Jaxson Dart and the role that technology is going to play for Lane Kiffin and the Ole Miss Rebels. Kiffin described this technology as a Madden type offensive cheat code depending on how it is used. Kiffin is a coach that made his reputation as an offensive genius for the USC Trojans, Alabama Crimson Tide and Florida Atlantic Owls coach by whistling when he saw the look he wanted and getting a shot type play. Now he will just have to relay it to Jaxson Dart through a head set. In our final segment of the day we talk about the Ole Miss Pro Day and the weird dichotomy that Ole Miss is doing by both promoting it as a spectator type event to generate interest and even having signage of the event to also really clamping down of the information that is going out. In a situation where the fan base is asked to pay the salaries of players this isn't the best look. https://thegrovecollective.com/marchtovictory WANT MORE OLE MISS SPORTS CONTENT? Locked On Ole Miss - Daily podcast on Ole Miss Rebels Football, Basketball & Baseball
Today's Locked on Ole Miss podcast we talk about Jaxson Dart and the role he has played off the field displaying a magnetic personality in recruiting this 2024 football team. We talk about his development in Year three under Lane Kiffin and what that may look like with a WR corps of Tre Harris, Jordan Watkins, Deion Smith and Juice Wells. We talk about how this team he will be the face off and if it hits the success predicted for the Ole Miss Rebels in the CFB Playoff, Dart becomes the face of that as well. The only thing close to what could converge is the Archie Manning mania. Ole Miss fans should prepare for this to go off the chain. In the second segment of the show we talk about why Cayden Lee and Ayden Williams have a massive spring practice and they have the opportunity to really cement themselves to Lane Kiffin and Charlie Weis Jr as being trustworthy members of the WR corps that deserve playing time.George McDonald has a really talented room with Tre Harris, Jordan Watkins, Cayden Lee, Ayden Williams and the young guys…not to forget Caden Prieskorn and Dae'quan Wright to make this receiving corps the best in college football. In our final segment of the day we talk about the Southern Miss Golden Eagles picking this year to chirp at recent National Champion Ole Miss and Mississippi State and proceeding to lose to both of them. https://thegrovecollective.com/marchtovictory WANT MORE OLE MISS SPORTS CONTENT? Today's Locked on Ole Miss podcast we talk about the Ole Miss Rebels transfer wide receiver Juice Wells and we look at what type of player Lane Kiffin and Charlie Weis Jr is getting. We look at the PFF Grades and the games against the Clemson Tigers and Tennessee Volunteers that put him on the map as a player. We also look at the type of receiver Jaxson Dart will be getting and which receivers he will primarily battle with between Jordan Watkins, Deion Smith and Tre Harris and where his final landing spot should be. In the second segment of the show we talk about the talent being brought in currently and the Wide Receiver Room will not be the only one affected. The DB room for Pete Golding will feature John Saunders trying to fend off a slew of transfer players and a returner in Key Lawrence, Yam Banks and Louis Moore and the returner being Jadon Canady from the Tulane Green Wave In our final segment of the day we talk about Ole Miss and their Grove Bowl and some of the rumors that are going around about how Lane Kiffin looks to make this game unwatchable film wise in 2024. The event promises to be fun but we as fans have goals for that day too and they include watching football. WANT MORE OLE MISS SPORTS CONTENT? Today's Locked on Ole Miss podcast we talk about Deion Smith and Marquis Willis being May enrollees for the Ole Miss Rebels and what that means to this Ole Miss offense that could be elite and these were two pieces that I think that Ole Miss and Lane Kiffin will need for that to happen. We talk about the other players that have enrolled such as Walter Nolen and Princely Umanmielen and look at 2023 Class returnees like Ayden Williams that get a chance to make his name in Deion Smith Absence. In the second segment of the show we talk about recruting and David Johnson from Inside the Rebels has Crystal Balled Akylin Dear to the Ole Miss Rebels. Dear was in Oxford for its Junior Day and it seems to have gone really well. In My Opinion this is the most important position for the Ole Miss Rebels in recruiting. We also look at the Top 10 in Mississippi recruiting and talk about where Ole Miss is on a really stacked top 10. In our final segment of the day we talk about Ole Miss men's hoops playing the South Carolina Gamecocks in Columbia, S.C. and we talk about how well they have been playing and mention they are currently 19-3 with wins of Tennessee Volunteers and Kentucky Wildcats already. We talk about ways Chris Beard and Ole Miss Hoops can win this game. WANT MORE OLE MISS SPORTS CONTENT? Today's Locked on Ole Miss podcast we talk about an offensive lineman that has entered the Transfer Portal in Lance Heard from the LSU Tigers. This players was a 5- Star players from Monroe, La. And played some at LSU as a true freshman this season. We have talked about Ole Miss being selective in the Portal when it comes to offensive line players and two names have emerged in Heard and Percy Lewis from Mississippi State. Something to follow for John Garrison and Charlie Weis Jr. In the second segment of the show we talk about PFF releasing an article comparing Ole Miss in 2024 to Florida State Seminoles at this time last year. The released an article about what Ole Miss is done and why the Rebels need to be swimming in this heady water for 2024. We also wonder outloud will Alabama make the 12 Team Playoff in 2024 with as many teams vying for the spots? In our final segment of the day we talk about Mike Detillier from WWL and his comments on the Bo Bounds show about the jump that Jaxson Dart can make in Year 3 in the Lane Kiffin system. Add in Tre Harris, Quinshon Judkins, Deion Smith, Juice Wells and Caden Prieskorn and one can be excused for losing your mind thinking about this offense. WANT MORE OLE MISS SPORTS CONTENT? Locked On Ole Miss - Daily podcast on Ole Miss Rebels Football, Basketball & Baseball
Today's Locked on Ole Miss podcast we talk about the Penn State Nittany Lions defense because of the style of the Big 10 will not have faced an offense like Ole Miss Football and Jaxson Dart in this year's Peach Bowl. We look at the style of the league and how that leads to really good statistical numbers but it is deceiving. I do think that this will be the 3rd best defense that Ole Miss has seen this year and they favor the Texas A&M Aggies defensively. I think that the Georgia Bulldogs and Alabama Crimson Tide are better units. In the second segment of the show we talk about Caden Prieskorn coming back to school for an offense that is trending toward elite right now. We talk about Tre Harris, Jordan Watkins and Deion Smith being available to next year's teams and where that will lead Ole Miss. We also talk about Walker Jones cryptic tweet about Tre Harris and we think something might be up on that front. In our final segment of the day we talk about Kewan Lacy the Running Back from Lancaster HS in Texas. This Dallas Area prospect is generating a lot of headlines because of how good he is and how his recruiting is playing out. Lane Kiffin and Kevin Smith are becoming the coaches you just offer after they do because of how good their evaluations are. WANT MORE OLE MISS SPORTS CONTENT? Locked On Ole Miss - Daily podcast on Ole Miss Rebels Football, Basketball & Baseball
Today's Locked on Ole Miss podcast we talk about the terrific matchup of the Ole Miss Rebels and Lane Kiffin offense vs the Penn State Nittany Lions and James Franklin. We familiarize our self again with a Manny Diaz defense and talk about players like Chop Robinson, Adisa Isaac and Abdul Carter that Jaxson Dart, Tre Harris and Quinshon Judkins have to deal with. This match up is likely the best matchup in all of bowl season because of how good they are. In the second segment of the show we talk about Deion Smith finally committing to Ole Miss and what that means. This player was a signing with the LSU Tigers in 2021 and after his first year he academically dropped the ball. Rumors surrounded Ole Miss that he wanted to transfer there but academically he was playing catch up. He ended up at Holmes Community College and averaging 22 ypc and is the #1 JUCO player in the country. This is a major get for the Ole Miss Rebels. In our final segment of the day we talk about how the addition of Deion Smith affects the calculus of Ole Miss in the Portal at WR this season. And I do think it changes things. Unless Ole Miss can get a player of Will Sheppard's caliber I think Ole Miss will focus on the High School ranks and make Stonka Burnside and Caleb Odom the priorities. Either way the WR room in 2024 looks LOADED. WANT MORE OLE MISS SPORTS CONTENT? Welcome back to our NIL Interview series. In this episode, we are introduced to junior running back Deion Smith. Coming off of a 20-yard touchdown run in the CU Spring Showcase, Smith wants Buff fans to know that the running back room is ready to prove the critics wrong. So ... What was it like for Deion to post his first career touchdowns last fall? ... Just how vanilla was the CU offense in the Spring Game? (“You can count on one hand the number of plays we ran that day”) ... And what did Deion - when putting together his own NIL podcast project - learn from the likes of Rick George and Evan Battey about the future of NIL at the University of Colorado? ... ... Let's find out ...
