Japanese artists to build lantern floats for Taiwan Lantern Festival Two Japanese Nebuta artists will be crafting (手工製作) the large lantern floats for this year's Taiwan Lantern Festival in Chiayi County. Artists Makoto Suwa and Hiromi Hayashi from Japan's Aomori City were invited to create the lantern floats for the General Association of Chinese Culture. Nebuta are traditional lantern floats handmade with wood, metal wire and paper. According to the association, the two artists will create nebuta for Chiayi County's Pei Tien Temple, featuring the deities Mazu and Hu Ye, for Lantern Festival - which will be taking place from March 3 through 15. Both Suwa and Hayashi have previously visited Taiwan to exhibit their nebuta works, but this will be the first time they produce nebuta from scratch in Taiwan. A ceasefire, announced Tuesday and extended Saturday, is mostly holding despite sporadic skirmishes (斷斷續續的小規模戰鬥). Kobani residents have faced electricity and water cuts and shortages of essentials (必需品). The U.N. Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs said 24 trucks delivered supplies, including food and medical kits. The fighting has displaced over 173-thousand people. The park is in discussions with four U.S. institutions to take its 30 belugas and four dolphins. Airports like Frankfurt and Berlin reported significant delays for non-Schengen arrivals. *) Chinese BYD tops Tesla in fourth quarter, delivers record EV vehicles Chinese automaker BYD outpaced Tesla in the fourth quarter, delivering about 600,000 EVs compared to Tesla which delivered less than 495,000. For 2024, BYD delivered 1.76 million EVs, narrowly trailing Tesla's 1.79 million. Both companies reported record-breaking sales for the year.

Since her childhood, Falak has nurtured a passion for crafting love stories that delve into themes of human connection and a deep affection for her homeland. Alongside her writing endeavours, she takes pleasure in reciting classical Kurdish songs and poetry. In the absence of a camera, she ingeniously employs a mirror as a makeshift tool to capture her experiences. Aralarında Altan Tan, Ayhan Bilgen, Aysel Tuğluk ve Sırrı Süreyya Önder'in de aralarında bulunduğu 12 kişi beraat etti Gültan Kışanak ve Sebahat Tuncel'in de aralarında bulunduğu beş kişi tahliye edildi. Demirtaş'a 47 suçtan toplam 42, Yüksekdağ'a ise 30 yıl 3 ay hapis cezası verildi. Mardin Büyükşehir Belediye Eş Başkanı Ahmet Türk'ün 10 yıl hüküm giydiği davada mahkeme, Demirtaş'ın da aralarında bulunduğu 36 sanığı, Yasin Börü ve 6 kişinin ölümünden suçlu bulmadı. 24 sanık toplam 408 yıl üç ay hapis cezasına çarptırıldı. 72 kişinin sorgulamaları yapılamadığı için dosyaları ayrıldı. Siyasette yumuşamanın hakim olduğu bir iklimde , kararı nasıl değerlendirmek lazım. Gerek Osman Kavala kararı, gerek Kobani davasında ceza yağdırılması normalleşme çabalarını nasıl etkiler? Bölgedeki yankısı ne oldu? Bu iklimde çözüm sürecinin hayata geçmesi ihtimal dahilinde mi? İstinaf ve temyiz süreçleri var. Kararın hukuki boyutuna gelirsek, AHİM kararı ne dedi, o karara rağmen ne yaşandı? In September 2022, a boat carrying 16 people Syrians, mostly from the town of Kobani. The boat sank on route Algeria and Spain, only one person survived. In addition to that, on June 4 2023, another boat sank carrying 25 Syrians, and again mostly from the town of Kobani. Many people are deceived by people smugglers who promise that the boats are safe and will reach Europe in a short period of time. They charge people thousands of Euros or dollars but sadly the results aren't positive. Over the years, the people of Aleppo suffered greatly from the war, while the city was the largest and most cosmopolitan in Syria. But the recent earthquake overcame everything and caused loss of life and much damage to the city. Hadla Tammo is originally from Kobani, but has been living in Aleppo for several years. As Turkey threatens to mount a fresh ground assault against the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces in northeast Syria, America's Syrian Kurdish allies are warning that Washington and the Kremlin need to take a much firmer stance to prevent a Turkish offensive that will further undermine the battle against the Islamic State. While Washington has expressed “strong opposition” to a new Turkish military operation in Syria, sources have also indicated that Turkey is spurning all mediation efforts. Turkish fighter jets carried out dozens of airstrikes in northern Syria and Iraq on Sunday, in what Turkish officials said was a retaliation for a bombing in Istanbul last week. Ankara has blamed the PKK and the YPG in Syria for the bombing, despite both denying any involvement, and, as many have pointed out, there are still a number of questions around the attack that have yet to be answered. As the dust settles following Turkey's airstrikes, Erdogan is now suggesting the offensive could be widened into a ground operation. Türkiye has launched new operations against the PKK and its YPG offshoots in Northern Syria and Iraq. Dubbed Operation Claw-Sword, the air strikes come just a week after the terror attack in Istanbul that left six people dead and dozens wounded. The operation was carried out over the weekend, against bases that were used by the YPG terror group. Türkiye's Defence Ministry said more than 80 sites were hit across Northern Syria and Iraq, including bunkers, weapon depots and terror training camps. Meanwhile, the YPG terror group has launched several rocket attacks against Türkiye's southern province of Gaziantep, killing at least three people on Monday. The rockets were reportedly fired from Kobani just across the border, where the YPG currently operates. The attack follows a similar barrage of rocket fire that the YPG launched over the weekend at Türkiye's Kilis province. So is Ankara readying for a wider operation to clear the YPG fully from its border regions? And will ground troops be involved?
