In Part 2 of the Radical Discipleship series, Stasi teaches the power of worship and fasting. Worship is not just an act but a posture of the heart, a response to God's goodness and love as his Beloved. Fasting strengthens our dependence on and alignment with God, enabling us to access breakthrough and intimacy. Friends, this podcast offers deep encouragement by helping us understand how these practices transform our hearts and lives into deeper communion with God as we journey toward making Jesus our everything.…..SHOW NOTES:…..VERSES: Psalm 100:1–2 (NLT) — Shout with joy to the Lord, all the earth! How are you doing homeschool mama? Do your kids (and maybe you) have spring fever? Have you been deep in the trenches with your homeschool co-op and are just READY to be done with this year? AND are you already anticipating next year - because it seems like the planning and registering and “need to know what next year is going to look like” comes earlier and earlier each year but you STILL have to finish this year and you have to test your kids and plan for summer and start your garden and ALL THE THINGS! Whew! What's a homeschooling mom going to do to survive?! Today we hope to take a minute to slow down, take a deep breath, and focus on the Word so we can have a successful, sustainable end-of-the-year plan. Bible verse: Galatians 6:8-9 says “ A man reaps what he sows. The one who sows to please his sinful nature will reap destruction, the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” Matthew 11:28-30 (NIV) Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light. FIRM FOUNDATIONSong by Cody CarnesReleased December 2021Written during a “shaky season” - (covid, political unrest, riots, etc.)Based on what Jesus teaches us in: Matthew 7:24-27Jesus tells this parable at the end of the sermon on the mount Sermon that teaches people how to live. Matthew 7:24-27 (NIV) “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. 26 But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. 27 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”Sand Castle - crumbling from below when the water hitsA solid foundation, like a rock, stays put and everything built upon it stays strongBuild your house on GOD GOD IS OUR FOUNDATION “Christ is my firm foundation” ~ “The Rock on which I stand” ~ “My house is built on you” “I'm standing strong on you” ~ “I've built my life on Jesus” ~ “I'm safe with You”Isaiah 26:4 (ESV) Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord God is an everlasting rock.Psalm 62:6 (ESV) He only is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall not be shaken.Psalm 18:2 (ESV) The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my strongholdDon't know what we've put our faith in until we weather a stormWe can see how solid our foundation is when we go through a storm2020 revealed that for a lot of people THERE WILL BE STORMS “When everything around me is shaking” ~ “Joy in chaos” ~ “Rain came, wind blew”John 16:33 (NIV) “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”Storms are promised Caused by: the enemy - since the Garden of EdenOthers - impacted by their selfish motivationsOurselves - Not doing what God tells us - Doing the oppositeJesus experienced storms - metaphorically and literallyIn the boat with the disciples - sleeping during the storm - Matthew 8:24-27 “Suddenly a furious storm came up… waves swept over the boat. Save us! We're gonna drown! You of little faith. Why are you afraid?” Walking on water to meet his disciples - Matthew 14:22-33 but the boat by this time was a long way from the land, beaten by the waves, for the wind was against them. And in the fourth watch of the night he came to them, walking on the sea. Calls Peter out of the boat - when he saw the wind, he was afraid, and beginning to sink he cried out, “Lord, save me.” Jesus immediately reached out his hand and took hold of him, saying to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?” And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased. Walked through the storm on water - a firm foundation because of his faithDon't doubt the one who you are putting your faith in. James 1:2-3 (NIV) Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. This doesn't make sense until you go through something and experience the joy of drawing closer to God. James 1:6 (NIV) But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. Don't look at the storm or your circumstances. Look to the one who can save youSpeak God's promises over your life, over your situationGOD IS WITH YOU “He's faithful through generations” ~ “I've got peace that makes no sense” ~ “I'm gonna make it through”Psalm 100:5 NIV For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.Deuteronomy 7:9 NIV Bible story after story of God's faithfulness - from beginning to endGarden of Eden to Revelations Bible full of stories of people messing upForgives us - gives us chance after chanceGod makes a way - sent Jesus Philippians 4:6-7 NIV Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Peace that makes no sense The feeling of the holy spirit wrapping his arms around meStorm didn't end, but everything was going to be alright Joshua 1:9 NIV …Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.”Stand on the rock of Christ - not crushed by fear. Faith in the one who made you - not fear in the storm around you!Hebrews 13:5 NIV Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”Deuteronomy 31:8 ESVWe put our faith in a lot of things. Money- too much, too littleThe bridges we drive over. - person who welded or boltedThe tires on our cars - blow offThe roof over our heads - crashes downOurselves - disappointment - wrong expectationsOur family, friends - death or betrayal - disappointmentOur health - failing Speak God's promises over your life. Speak God's truth! PUT YOUR FAITH IN JESUS“I've never been more glad that I put my faith in Jesus” ~ “He's never let me down” ~ “He won't (fail)”James 4:8 NIV Come near to God and he will come near to you.Why do I have faith in Jesus? As I have drawn nearer to God, he has drawn nearer to me.As I seek him, he is there. You need to seek him. Faith without works is dead. Believe through your actions. Not just your words. He has shown up in the storms of my life. 1 John 5:4 ESV For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.I have experienced what the bible talks about. Victory from the stormThose moments are anchor points for me. My foundation (faith) is firm and growing. Ephesians 2:8 ESV For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of GodIt is not by my own doing but through the grace of God who has saved me. He's never let me down. I have let myself down, others have let me down, but not God. Not always the way I thought he'd bring me throughBut always faithful! John 3:16 ESV “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. The basis of my foundation is this! I believe Jesus came and died for our sins. I believe in his resurrection powerI sing because Jesus died for me. He alone is worthy of praise. - GREAT ARE YOU LORD!

And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” Luke 2:14 (KJV)“Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace and good will toward men.” Matthew 11:28-29 (NIV)“Come to me, all of you who are tired and worn out from carrying heavy loads, and I will give you rest! I am gentle and humble, and you will find peace and rest for your souls.” John 14:27 (NIV) “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” Romans 5:10 (CEV)“Even when we were God's enemies, he made peace with us, because his Son died for us. What am I doing?! – Purpose “Why am I here” Purpose Do you feel like you are living in the purpose God designed you to live in? 1. You're blatantly living in sin “don't let sin control the way you live; do not give in to sinful desires. Do not let any part of your body become an instrument of evil to serve sin. Instead, give yourselves completely to god, for your were dead, but now you have new life. So use your whole body as an instrument to do what is right for the glory of god.” Romans 6:12-13 NLT 2. You lack joy and excitement 3. You don't feel much fulfillment in life 4. You feel stuck 5. You have no direction A life of purpose brings focus “For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Ephesians 2:10 NIV We will find our purpose less in what we do and more in what we are willing to surrender Surrender leads to obedience and obedience fuels our purpose “Its in Christ that we find out who we are and what we are living for…part of the overall purpose he is working out in everything and everyone.” Ephesians 1:11 MSG “Your will be done” Matthew 6:10 Who we are doesn't flow from what we do…what we do flows from who we are “Jacob loved Joseph more than any of his other children because joseph had been born to him in his old age. So one day Jacob had a special gift made for Joseph – a beautiful robe.” Genesis 37:3 NLT “When his brothers saw that their father loved him more than any of them, they hated him and could not speak a kind word to him.” Genesis 37:4 NIV “…listen to this dream, he said, “we were out in the field, tying up bundles of grain. Suddenly my bundle stood up, and your bundles all gathered around and bowed low before mine!” His brothers responded, “So you think you will be our king, do you? Do you actually think you will reign over us?” and they hated him all the more because of his dreams and the way he talked about them.” Genesis 37:6-8 NLT “The Lord was with Joseph, so he succeeded in everything he did as he served in the home of his Egyptian master. Potiphar noticed this and realized that the Lord was with Joseph, giving him success in everything he did. This pleased Potiphar, so he soon made joseph his personal attendant. He put him in charge of his entire household and everything he owned.” Genesis 39:2-4 NLT “…now Joseph was well-built and handsome…” Genesis 39:6 NIV “Come and sleep with me,” she demanded.” Genesis 39:7 “Look, he told her, “my master trusts me with everything in his entire household. No one here has more authority than I do. He has held back nothing from me except you, because you are his wife. How could I do such a wicked thing? It would be a great sin against God.” Genesis 39:8-9 NLT “she grabbed him by his cloak demanding, “come on sleep with me!” joseph tore himself away, but he left his cloak in her hand as he ran from the house. When she saw that she was holding his cloak and he had fled, she called out to her servants. Soon all the men came running. “Look!” she said “ my husband has brought this Hebrew slave here to make fools of us! He came into my room to rape me, but I screamed. When he heard me scream, he ran outside and got away, but he left his cloak behind with me.” Genesis 39:12-18 NLT If you ever feel like “Nothing gold can stay” that's an indicator that you're living in YOUR will not HIS “but the Lord was with Joseph in the prison and showed him his faithful love. And the Lord made Joseph a favorite with the prison warden.” Genesis 39:21 NLT “Before long, the warden put Joseph in charge of all the other prisoners and over everything that happened in the prison. The warden had no more worries, because Joseph took care of everything. The Lord was with him and caused everything he did to succeed.” Genesis 39:22-23 NLT God wants to use you in every situation you are in “I had a dream last night, and no one here can tell me what it means. But I have heard that when you hear about a dream you can interpret it.” “it is beyond my power to do this,” joseph replied. “but God can tell you what it means and set you at ease.” Genesis 41:15-16 NLT “Therefore, pharaoh should find an intelligent and wise man and put him in charge of the entire land of Egypt. Then Pharaoh should appoint supervisors over the land and let them collect one fifth of the crops during the seven good years. Have them gather all the food produced in the good years that are just ahead and bring it to Pharaoh's storehouses. Store it away , and guard it so there will be food in the cities. That way there will be enough to eat when the seven years of famine come to the land of Egypt. Otherwise this famine will destroy the land.” Genesis 41:33-36 NLT Our purpose is not found in a thing that we do, but rather in the type of life that we live “He has saved us and called us to a holy life – not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time..” 2 Timothy 1:9 NIV 1. What will be the most important thing in my life? Whatever is at the center of your life…is your God Is Christ TRULY at the center of your life? 2. What will be the character of my life? We take who we are into eternity…not what we did The Fruits of the Spirit - Love - Joy - Peace - Patience - Kindness - Goodness - Faithfulness - Gentleness - Self Control 3. What will be the contributions of my life? “…I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit – fruit that will last…” John 15:16 NIV 4. What will be the communication of my life?

Bring the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. 23 Bring the fattened calf and kill it. "Surrender," in Hebrew, means "to align or arrange oneself under the command of a divine viewpoint." You literally turn away from the offerings of the world, the opinions of others, and your own strategies for achieving life and instead choose to stand under God's divine viewpoint. When we cling to other things, believing they will satisfy our souls, we put something between us and God—actually, we put something in front of Him. They may be good things, but when they become highest in our hearts, we get into trouble; we've stepped away from our first love, maybe without even noticing. In today's podcast, Stasi shares that the surrendered life is a doorway into a deeper life with God, then closes with a beautiful and powerful encounter with Jesus through which we experience the fruit of surrender: resting in our God's unconditional love.…..SHOW NOTES:…..VERSES: Psalm 100:3 (NIV) — Know that the Lord is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.Isaiah 40:11 (NIV) — He tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart; he gently leads those that have young.Mark 6:34 (NIV) — When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd. So he began teaching them many things.Ezekiel 34:31 (NIV) — You are my sheep, the sheep of my pasture, and I am your God, declares the Sovereign Lord.'”Revelation 7:17 (NIV) — For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd; ‘he will lead them to springs of living water.' ‘And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.'”Hebrews 13:5 (NIV) — Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”Psalm 23:1-3 (NIV) — The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul. If you have faith in God, you can trust that He is in control of all things in your life. The Bible encourages believers to put their trust in God, knowing that He cares for His children and has a plan for their lives. Worrying does not change the outcome of a situation or solve problems. It drains our energy and mental well-being, leaving us less equipped to handle the challenges at hand. Instead of worrying, it is more constructive to focus on prayer, problem-solving, seeking wisdom, and taking positive action. The Scriptures provide numerous promises and assurances from God. For example, Matthew 6:25-34 reminds us that God knows our needs and promises to provide for us. Philippians 4:6-7 assures us that when we bring our concerns to God in prayer, His peace will guard our hearts and minds. By meditating on these promises, we can find comfort and strength in difficult times. Worry often stems from a lack of trust and faith. It can indicate that we are relying solely on our own abilities and understanding, rather than acknowledging God's sovereignty. Trusting in God means surrendering our worries and anxieties to Him, believing that He is capable of handling our concerns and working things out for our good. Matthew 6:25-27 (NIV): "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?" Philippians 4:6-7 (NIV): "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." 1 Peter 5:7 (NIV): "Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you." Matthew 11:28-30 (NIV): "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light." Psalm 55:22 (NIV): "Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken." Isaiah 41:10 (NIV): "So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."

PrayerJanuary 1, 2023Teacher: Dave Brown--1 John 1:8-9 NIVIf we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. Corporate ConfessionAlmighty and most merciful Father, we have erred and strayed from your ways like lost sheep. We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts. We have offended against your holy laws. We have left undone those things which we ought to have done, and we have done those things which we ought not to have done; and apart from your grace, there is not health in us. O Lord, have mercy upon us. Spare all those who confess their faults. Restore all those who are penitent, according to your promises declared to all people in Christ Jesus our Lord. And grant, O most merciful Father, for his sake, that we may now live a godly, righteous, and sober life, to the glory of your holy Name. Amen. Proclamation of Worship (Psalm 95:1-7 NIV)Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song. For the Lord is the great God, the great King above all gods. In his hand are the depths of the earth, and the mountain peaks belong to him. The sea is his, for he made it, and his hands formed the dry land. Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker; for he is our God and we are the people of his pasture, the flock under his care. Common SupplicationFather of all mercies, have mercy on us. Some of us are anxious, exhausted, angry, and sad. We need your peace that surpasses understanding to guard our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Be our refuge and strength; Be our very present help in times of distress.Great Physician, we pray for the elderly, the weak, and those with chronic conditions; For the poor, the hungry, and the isolated.Rock of Ages, we pray for the newly unstable: For those who have lost employment, family, or friends hide them in the cool shadow of your wings; Provide for them every good thing that you, as a good Father, know they need.Indwelling Spirit, empower your people to serve; To get wisdom, live by it, and share it freely; To embody peace amid the strife of this life; To present our bodies as living sacrifices; To suffer with Christ in patient endurance.Give us all fresh confidence that there is: No future where you are not present, No sorrow where you are not near, And no tears that you do not care about. And so we trust you, our generous Provider. In the name of Jesus Christ we ask these things,Amen. ThanksgivingAlmighty God, Father of all mercies, we your unworthy servants give you humble thanks for all your goodness and loving-kindness to us and to all whom you have made. We thank you for our creation, preservation, and all the blessings of this life. But above all for your immeasurable love in the redemption of the world by our Lord Jesus Christ for the means of grace, and for the hope of glory. We thank you for all these things. In the name of your precious Son, Jesus Christ.Amen.

Gospel Scripture: (all NIV) Romans 3:23 “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,” Romans 3:24 “and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.” Romans 3:25 (a) “God presented him as a sacrifice of atonement, through faith in his blood.” Hebrews 9:22 (b) “without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.” Romans 5:8 “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:11 “Not only is this so, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.” John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” Romans 10:9 “That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” Luke 15:10 says “In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.” Romans 8:1 “Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus” Ephesians 1:13–14 “And you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God's possession- to the praise of his glory.” Ephesians 1:15–23 “For this reason, ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints, I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers. I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is like the working of his mighty strength, which he exerted in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every title that can be given, not only in the present age but also in the one to come. And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way.” Ephesians 2:8–10 “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God‘s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.“ Ephesians 2:13 “But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near through the blood of Christ.“ Philippians 1:6 “being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”

Episode Summary: Life is busy. There always seems to be more to do than time to do it. We often miss the special moments because we rush through life. Resting allows us to savor those moments. If you struggle to rest effectively so that you can refill and refuel, this episode is for you! Marci Siether shares the art of how to rest effectively. Quotables from the episode: We often miss the special moments because we rush through life. Resting allows us to savor those moments. Resting is often about pacing and prioritizing…like the difference between sprinting versus running a marathon—those runners don't start off at the same pace. We need to pace ourselves, with moments of rest so we can make it through the things that must be done. If we don't take time to come to a full rest and refuel, we end up “bleeding out” on ourselves and those around us. Too often we reserve rest and relaxation for vacation because we feel guilty for resting. But God offers us rest as a gift. We need to give ourselves buffer in our lives to create margin, which reduces our stress when things don't go as planned. We need rest, we deserve rest, and we will be more productive for taking time to rest. Rest is something God set as an example for us from the beginning. It isn't something that we HAVE to do..it is something that refills and refuels us. When we don't fully rest..it is like the lesson of the bell ringer.. that knows an unsilenced bell allows the sound to “bleed'. Don't wait. Put it on the calendar. Take time and MAKE time to set apart a moment to rest. Rest and peace are often interchangeable. In a world so desperate for peace..set the pace in your own heart, with your own family. Whether it is at the cabin on a lake or on the back porch with a cup of your favorite tea or coffee. Take time to rest in the Lord today. Peace and patience go hand in hand. Scripture References: Psalm 62:1-2 NIV “My soul finds rest in God alone; my salvation comes from Him. He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will never be shaken.” Matthew 11:28-29 NIV “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give your rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” John 14:27 NIV “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” Recommended Resources: Lakeside Retreat: Life-Giving Devotions from a Restful Shore by Marci Seither Trusting God Through Cancer 1 Trusting God Through Cancer 2 Revive & Thrive Women's Conference Subdue Stress and Anxiety: Fifteen Experts Offer Comprehensive Tools in Ten Minutes a Day. Fishers of MenInvitations • March 27, 2022Teacher: Adam Barnett--Matthew 4:18 NIVAs Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen.Matthew 14:19-20 NIV"Come, follow me," Jesus said, "and I will send you out to fish for people." At once they left their nets and followed him. Matthew 4: 21-22Going on from there, he saw two other brothers, James son of Zebedee and his brother John. They were in a boat with their father Zebedee, preparing their nets. Jesus called them, and immediately they left the boat and their father and followed him. 1. The initiator of discipleship is Jesus.Hebrews 12:2 - We fix our eyes on Jesus, the [author, champion, pioneer, founder, originator, initiator] of our faith...A disciple is an adherent and follower of a Master, an intimate companion in some common endeavor, and one who learns and promotes a particular ideology.Remain. Love. Fruit. 2. The cost (and reward) of discipleship is radical surrender.Charles Spurgeon"Nothing teaches us about the preciousness of the Creator as much as when we learn the emptiness of everything else." 3. The result of discipleship is a missional lifestyle.Romans 10:9 NIV"Declare with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, and you will be saved."
Matthew 11:28-30 NIV“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. [29] Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. [30] For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”Hebrews 4:9-11 NIVThere remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; [10] for anyone who enters God's rest also rests from their works, just as God did from his. [11] Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will perish by following their example of disobedience.Psalm 127:2 NIVIn vain you rise early and stay up late, toiling for food to eat---for he grants sleep to those he loves.Psalm 4:8 NIVIn peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety.
(English) In this message Ps Rod talks the power of the mouth about in these 3 points: (Psalm 34:1 NKJV) I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth. 1) My mouth is a Fire! - For Harm or Empowerment - (James 3:5-11 NIV) Likewise, the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts. Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark. (6) The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole body, sets the whole course of one's life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell. (7) All kinds of animals, birds, reptiles and sea creatures are being tamed and have been tamed by mankind, (8) but no human being can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison. (9) With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse human beings, who have been made in God's likeness. (10) Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers and sisters, this should not be. (11) Can both fresh water and salt water flow from the same spring? 2) Jesus Speaks of Mouth + Heart (Matthew 12:33-34 NIV) Make a tree good and its fruit will be good, or make a tree bad and its fruit will be bad, for a tree is recognized by its fruit. (34) You brood of vipers, how can you who are evil say anything good? For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of. Isaiah's Story -The before and after story of a mouth on fire -After being an amazing prophet for many years, Isaiah needs a refreshing touch on his mouth. (Isaiah 1:18 NIV) “Come now, let us settle the matter,”says the Lord. “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool. (Isaiah 6:1-9 NIV) In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord, high and exalted, seated on a throne; and the train of his robe filled the temple. (2) Above him were seraphim, each with six wings: With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying. (3) And they were calling to one another:“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory.”(4) At the sound of their voices the doorposts and thresholds shook and the temple was filled with smoke.(5) “Woe to me!” I cried. “I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the LordAlmighty.”(6) Then one of the seraphim flew to me with a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with tongs from the altar. (7) With it he touched my mouth and said, “See, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away and your sin atoned for.”(8) Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?”And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”(9) He said, “Go and tell this people: “ ‘Be ever hearing, but never understanding; be ever seeing, but never perceiving.' Peter's Story: (Matthew 26:33 NIV) Peter replied, “Even if all fall away on account of you, I never will.” (Mark 14:71 NIV) He began to call down curses, and he swore to them, “I don't know this man you're talking about.” (Acts 2:1-4 NIV) When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. (2) Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. (3) They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. (4) All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them. (Acts 2:11 NIV) (both Jews and converts to Judaism); Cretans and Arabs—we hear them declaring the wonders of God in our own tongues! (Acts 2:14 NIV) Then Peter stood up with the Eleven, raised his voice and addressed the crowd: “Fellow Jews and all of you who live in Jerusalem, let me explain this to you; listen carefully to what I say. (Acts 2:37 NIV) When the people heard this, they
Hello Beautiful People!!! I hope you guys are excited for Season 2 of Mother, God saves. I'm sure God has a lot to say to you all this time around, and I know he will give you ears to hear exactly what is for you! I got a feeling this episode is going to set some of you free. Here's the scripture God wanted me to leave for you all: Matthew 11:28 NIV “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
The Key that Unlocks God's Biblical Potential in Your Life 1 Timothy 4:7 (ESV)“Train yourself for godliness;”1 Timothy 4:7 (NKJV)“Exercise yourself toward godliness.”1 Timothy 4:7 (NIV)“Train yourself to be godly.”1 Timothy 4:7 (NASB)“Discipline yourself for the purpose of godliness;”1 Timothy 4:8 (ESV)“For while bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come.”Hebrews 1:3 (ESV)“He (Jesus) is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of His nature.”Matthew 11:28-30 (NIV)“Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”Humility: The key that unlocks God's biblical potential in your life. 1 Corinthians 8:1 (NKJV)“Knowledge puffs up”Mark 10:35-45 (NIV)“Then James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came to Him. “Teacher,” they said, “we want you to do for us whatever we ask.” “What do you want Me to do for you?” he asked. They replied, “Let one of us sit at your right and the other at your left in your glory.” “You don't know what you are asking,” Jesus said. “Can you drink the cup I drink or be baptized with the baptism I am baptized with?” “We can,” they answered.Jesus said to them, “You will drink the cup I drink and be baptized with the baptism I am baptized with, (Jesus is letting them know you will suffer, you will endure incredible pain and you will die because of me) but to sit at my right or left is not for me to grant. These places belong to those for whom they have been prepared.”When the ten heard about this, they became indignant with James and John. Jesus called them together and said, “You know that those who are regarded as rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them. Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all. For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.” 1 Peter 5:5-6 (NKJV)“Be clothed with humility, for “God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”Therefore, humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time.” Psalm 138:6 (NLT)“Though the Lord is great, He cares for the humble, but He keeps His distance from the proud.” Isaiah 57:15 (NLT)“I live in the high and holy place with those whose spirits are contrite and humble.” Philippians 2:5-9 (NLT)“You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had. Though He was God, he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to. Instead, He gave up His divine privileges; He took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being. When He appeared in human form, He humbled Himself in obedience to God and died a criminal's death on a cross. Therefore, God elevated Him to the place of highest honor…”
Christian Meditation for A Bigger Life with Pastor Dave Cover
Genesis 24:63 says, “And Isaac went out to meditate in the field toward evening.” When the Bible uses the word meditate, it's talking about focusing our mind and imagination to experience God's presence in a deeper way — what Ephesians 1:18 calls using the eyes of our heart. In some way Isaac was going out into the field at sunset to do exactly that. Focusing his mind and imagination to be alone with God in the field at sunset. It sounds nice, doesn't it? Let's take the time to do something like that now. If your podcast app is set to skip silent sections of the podcast, disable that now. We want to use silence as part of our meditation. Biblically guided meditation and relaxation uses your imagination to focus on your body-mind connection. It helps you imagine and experience your connection with God even at the cellular level. It focuses you on how your body depends upon God's life at every moment. Your whole body is part of who you are — part of who God made you to be forever. There will be a resurrection of your body in your salvation. So as you take deep slow breaths, embrace your body now as part of you. Begin to take in deep, slow breaths and with each exhale relax the muscles in your body a little bit more. Each slow, deep breath. This is a time for you to meditate and focus your mind and your body on the life-giving, peace-giving presence of the I AM. There'll be other times to do things. To fix things. Plan things. You can do all that later. But for now put all that aside and focus all your thoughts on God being present with you 100% — focused on you 100% — without being any less present and any less focused anywhere else. He is the Giver of your life. The Source of comfort and peace. Shalom. This is a time to listen and to speak to your whole person, including your body. Let's meditate on this… Exodus 33:14 (NIV) The LORD replied, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” Imagine this reality. Every part of your being — every cell in your body — at rest in the presence of the I AM. Say to yourself… “I am calm and your body is calm and at peace in the presence of God.” Imagine surrendering your entire being to God's will — God's care — every cell in your body. Every anxiety in your heart. Giving it all to him. Trusting it all into his hands. He created you. There is no life apart from him. So surrender your whole being to him. As you're breathing and imagining and experiencing your complete dependence on God's breath/Spirit in every cell of your body — your necessary connection with God even at the cellular level… Let's meditate on this… Matthew 11:28 (NIV) Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Imagine this reality. Every part of your being — every cell in your body — at rest in the presence of the I AM. In your imagination, see yourself coming to Jesus with all your weariness and with all your burdens — handing it all to him. Jesus said “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” Picture this. Say aloud to yourself… “Because I have Jesus, the things that matter most are not threatened. I am not in danger. I am secure forever because the forever God is my God forever.” Who can you share this podcast with? Stacey and Pastor Rich dive into Moses' instructions for the people of God in Deuteronomy 6 to discuss the the kind of home God commands His people to build. In the process, we see that the primary goal of parenting is to raise fully formed lovers of God. In other words, successful parenting must be discipleship-oriented. Psalm 34:11 (NIV) Come, my children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the Lord.

(26)When the disciples saw him walking on the lake, they were terrified. “It's a ghost,” they said, and cried out in fear.(27)But Jesus immediately said to them: “Take courage! It is I. Don't be afraid.”(28)“Lord, if it's you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.” (29) “Come,”he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. (30)But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!” (31)Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,”he said, “why did you doubt?”(32)And when they climbed into the boat, the wind died down.(33)Then those who were in the boat worshiped him, saying, “Truly you are the Son of God.” 1. Experience miracles by taking a step of faith Matthew 14:29 NIV “Come,”he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. YOUR BURDEN MESSAGE (Isaiah 43:19 NIV) I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland. (Exodus 6:6-8 NLT) “Therefore, say to the people of Israel: ‘I am the LORD. I will free you from your oppression and I will rescue you from your slavery in Egypt. I will redeem you with a powerful arm and great acts of judgment. 7 I will claim you as my own people, and I will be your God. Then you will know that I am the LORD your God who has freed you from your oppression in Egypt. 8 I will bring you into the land I swore to give to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. I will give it to you as your very own possession. I am the LORD!’” (Exodus 6:9 NLT) So Moses told the people what the Lord had said, but they wouldn’t listen anymore. They had become too discouraged by the increasing burden of their slavery. Sin creates a burden of slavery in our lives. (Galatians 5:1 NIV) It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. (Romans 6:6 NLT) We know that our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin. Salvation brings a burden for saving others from the slavery of their sin. (Matthew 11:28-30 NIV) Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light. (Luke 19:10 NLT) The Son of Man came to seek and save those who are lost.
Nothing left, but God “When all you have is God, you have all you need!” A very “Good day” to all you precious people out there, it is my privilege to greet you in Jesus name, the name to which every knee shall bow & every tongue confess, that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the Glory of God, the Father. It is also my privilege to share God’s word with you again and I trust that this message will uplift & edify you, spiritually, emotionally & even physically, as I share on the topic of “Nothing left, but God” I would like to state that: ‘When you have nothing left but God, you have everything!” (Repeat!) But it doesn’t make sense, you would say! But if you ponder & meditate upon this truth, you will be able to say “Amen” to this statement, yes church? Today I can honestly say, that there was a time in my life, when I had nothing left, but God….. BUT GOD! So as I started my research & preparation for today’s message, I was reminded by the Holy Spirit about the times, yes more than once, that I had nothing left, but God! (Anybody?) There was a time in my life when I faced loss, sorrow, pain, distress and yes, I became despondent (meaning low spirited) & almost disconnected from courage!! It was in these moments that I could identify with King David when he wrote Psalm 13 (Read) Psalm 13 (NIV) – How long, Lord? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me? 2How long must I wrestle with my thoughts and day after day have sorrow in my heart? How long will my enemy triumph over me? 3Look on me and answer, Lord my God. Give light to my eyes, or I will sleep in death, 4and my enemy will say, “I have overcome him,” and my foes will rejoice when I fall. 5But I trust in your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in your salvation. 6I will sing the Lord’s praise, for he has been good to me. He cried out to God! Amen Church? You see guys & ladies, many times people would run away or turn away from God when they are faced with calamities, loss or extreme pain and I’ve seen this a lot, even with born-again believers! But if you read Psalm 13 and you reach verse 5, you will come to realise that David came to his senses, he made a U-turn, he focused his mind on God and experienced a change of heart & attitude. He developed an attitude of gratitude! He started to rejoice in his situation and so should we! Philippians 4: 4 says: Rejoice in the Lord always, again I say rejoice! Question: When last did you thank God for all your blessings? John 16: 33b (Amp) – I have told you these things, so that in Me you have [perfect] peace. In the world you have tribulation and distress and suffering, but be courageous [be confident, be undaunted, be filled with joy]; I have overcome the world. “[My conquest is accomplished, My victory abiding.] In this passage of Scripture, Jesus told his disciples that they will have to face tough challenging times, but that they should be of good courage! Be confident, certain & undaunted. I know church that it is not easy when you’re in the eye of the storm (Ryan Stevenson song) when you’re facing tsunamis, hurricanes or tidal waves of note! It’s not easy…… But possible! I would like to share with you, another Bible character who had nothing left, but God! Read Job 1:20-22 (NIV) – 20At this, Job got up and tore his robe and shaved his head. Then he fell to the ground in worship 21and said: “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked I will depart. The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away; may the name of the Lord be praised.” 22In all this, Job did not sin by charging God with wrongdoing. We are all so familiar with Job and the story of what God allowed to happen in Job’s life! Please realize church, that when friends forsake you, disappointments come, heart break happens, or you just suffer great financial or physical loss or your health worsens, can I just say that you are exactly where God want you to be….in a place where you depends solely on Him and the promises of His Word! According to the word of God, Job had lost his livestock, his crops, ten of his children, all his servants, yes basically everything! Even his wife disrespected him by saying that he should curse God & die! Even his “friends” scorned him. Job 16:20b - “But my eyes poured out tears to God!!” In other words, he cried out to God, the creator of heaven & earth to come to his rescue! And so should we, church! I’ve discovered that my most intimate moments with God are when I’m in my valleys, my “low” moments of life! I know that there are many people today that can relate to Job’s situation! Many are mourning the death of a loved one, some can relate to Job’s loss of all his earthly wealth, and mental state of mind. But today I’m reminded of God’s promise in: Matthew 11:28 (NIV) – “Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” God will give you rest, even as King David said in: Psalm 18:2 (NIV) – “The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold”. Would you agree with me church, that it is during your times of need, of despair & even frustration, that we are moved to trust God whole-heartedly? That we’re in a place where the only way out, is up ….. and the best physical position to be in, is on your knees? As you apply & remind God of His promise in Jeremiah 33:3 (NIV) – ‘Call to Me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.’ You see, this is a time when you are forced to do some introspection, as to what should be priority in your life, and what should not! We discover that the things we thought we couldn’t live without, doesn’t matter as much as we thought they did! Even the dearest & sweetest things of life take 2nd place to the pleasure of the knowing God! You discover a new longing and desire for God & His righteousness Matthew 6:33 (NIV) – But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. A desire for His word, His Company, His voice and then the desire for the world’s pleasures and temporary solutions becomes less as you strive to please God & live a life that will bring Him glory, amen? I’ve also come to realize that when I have nothing left, no strength, no desire to stand, when I’m supposed to stand, that God will say: You cannot, but I can!” It’s time to step aside, child, for the battle is mine, for My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in your weakness! Conclude: So, Be encouraged today family, friends, as you realize that when you have nothing, but God, you have everything! Amen. Closing prayer

Three days after He died on the cross, Jesus of Nazareth rose from His grave. But why did this have to happen? You may have heard that this cross and resurrection is the center of the Christian Gospel, but why did He need to come back to life again? Here are 4 reasons. Greetings! Welcome to the show! As, always, it is good to have you with us and we sincerely appreciate your tuning in to Lechem Panim. Lechem Panim is the Hebrew phrase for the bread of the presence of God that was in the Tabernacle and later the Temple. And it represented the reality that what we need for everyday life (bread) is found in the presence of God. And Jesus (who called Himself the Bread of Life) was saying that in Him we can have life. And so each week we seek to draw closer to Him through His word so that we can eat that Bread ourselves; but also so that we might share that Bread with the world. Kreisler's Violin-- I'd like to open today with a story I read some time ago. [Fritz Kreisler (1875-1962), the world-famous violinist, earned a fortune with his concerts and compositions, but he generously gave most of it away. So, when he discovered an exquisite violin on one of his trips, he wasn't able to buy it. Later, having raised enough money to meet the asking price, he returned to the seller, hoping to purchase the beautiful instrument. But to his great dismay it had been sold to a collector. Kreisler made his way to the new owner's home and offered to buy the violin. The collector said it had become his prized possession and he would not sell it. Keenly disappointed, Kreisler was about to leave when he had an idea. "Could I play the instrument once more before it is consigned to silence?" he asked. Permission was granted, and the great virtuoso filled the room with such heart-moving music that the collector's emotions were deeply stirred. "I have no right to keep that to myself," he exclaimed. "It's yours, Mr. Kreisler. Take it into the world, and let people hear it.”] It Must Be Shared-- I find it so fascinating how strongly Christianity is associated with music. From the earliest days of Christianity, Christians were known to be men and women who were singing. Other religions have music to some degree, but nothing in comparison to Christianity. There is something about Christianity that (whether through proclamation or through music) is not content to remain in storage. It must be shared; it must be declared; it must be proclaimed. The invitation of Jesus is to “Come and See”. But what we find in scripture is that those who “Come and See” also “Go and Tell”. And this is where we find Philip. Philip has caught the music; he has encountered Jesus. And he has to go and tell the world; and he begins with those closest to him, which includes Nathanael. It says in… John 1:45a (NIV)-- 45 Philip found Nathanael… Nathanael/Bartholomew-- Now Nathanael (or Bartholomew), as he is sometimes referred to (Bartholomew simply means “son of Tholomaios”; Bartholomew simply reveals to us who his father was), [is linked with Philip in all three Synoptic lists of apostles (Matt. 10:3; Mark 3:18; Luke 6:14).] There is a close relationship between these two disciples, which we talked about before. And because of that close relationship, Philip wants Nathanael to know the same hope that he himself has found in this Rabbi named Jesus. So it says in… John 1:45 (NIV)-- 45 Philip found Nathanael and told him, “We have found the one Moses wrote about in the Law, and about whom the prophets also wrote—Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.” Philip's Witness-- Now here we see that [When Philip witnessed to Nathanael, the evidence he gave was Moses and the prophets (John 1:45). {We are not sure how Philip was able to connect all these dots. It has been suggested that} Perhaps Jesus gave Philip a “quick course” in the Old Testament messianic prophecies, as He did with the Emmaus disciples (Luke 24:13ff.). {And if so, Philip then relays to Nathanael how Jesus is the fulfillment of those prophecies. And} It is always good to tie our personal witness to the Word of God.] But it is the last title that really throws Nathanael. It is the title Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph. He responds… John 1:46a (NIV)— 46 “Nazareth! Can anything good come from there?” Nathanael asked. A Region, A City, a Father of Bad Repute-- Now the reason that Nathanael reacts the way that he did was because the Messiah should be from a place like Jerusalem in Judea (somewhere important and religious; where the temple was). Now it would have been bad enough for Jesus to be from Galilee because of the unclean nature of Galilee in general (a place filled with Gentiles and Jews who were perceived to be sub-par because of their having mixed with the Gentiles. That would have been ridiculous enough. But Philip was saying not only that Jesus was from Galilee, but that Jesus was from Nazareth! Now [Nazareth did not have a bad reputation in Jesus' day, but neither did it have a famous reputation. It was a small south Galilee mountain village, a fraction of the size of the modern Arab Christian city {that we see today.] Possum-neck— Now what's the name of the town around here that whenever you want to make fun of a person for being from a small town, you say they are from there? In and around the city where I pastored my first church; Kosciusko, MS (which itself qualifies) was an even much smaller town called Possum-neck. And I'm not sure you can get smaller than Possum-neck, Mississippi. Before the great depression it got large enough to support it's own post office, but has long since faded from that not-so-glorious glory. But Jesus was from Possum-neck, Galilee. I mean this a tiny tiny town. You could throw a frisbee from one side to the other. I mean this place is so small, that for years secular historians and critics called us Christians neanderthalic boneheads and crazy for believing it even existed. But of course the ruins of Nazareth were then discovered. But you can't get more insignificant than Nazareth! It was the Possum-neck of Galilee. Two Skeptical Pharisees-- So Nathanael responds: “Nazareth! Can anything good come from there?” And he's making a joke. “Okay Phillip, who stopped payment on your reality check?” And we probably see some town-rivalry here. I know you guys don't know what that is. It's when one place thinks they are better than another place. It is known in some places as sports. Now Nathanael is no doubt laughing at his own joke. He's very cynical. He's probably thinking, “Yeah, the more Nazarenes I meet, the more I like my dog.” He has a very low opinion of Nazareth. Philip's Invitation-- Now I love Philip because he doesn't suddenly start to explain or get into some sort of theological discussion or try to debate Nathanael. No his response is so simple; and is probably the greatest evangelistic and apologetic call that we can make in our witness for Christ. John 1:46b (NIV)— “Come and see,” said Philip. The Mirrored Call: “Come”-- And that invitation, [“Come and see” is the refrain heard the previous day in Judea (1:39) and now becomes Nathanael's challenge.] And this is the most effective method because it is the one that mirrors most closely the call of Christ Himself. Warren Wiersbe points out that [When Nathanael hesitated and argued, Philip adopted our Lord's own words: “Come and see” (John 1:39). Later on, Jesus would invite, “Come … and drink” (John 7:37), and, “Come and dine” (John 21:12). “Come” is the great invitation of God's grace.] Another author said, [Throughout the Gospel many people will be challenged to “come and see.” Conversion is not about knowledge alone; it is about coming yourself and appropriating a relationship with Jesus personally.] And the question we ought to ask ourselves is, “Have we truly come and experienced Christ personally?” “Do we know of Him; talk about Him? Or do we know Him? Do we talk with Him? The call of Christ is to come and know Him personally. The question is, “Is He personal for us?” The miracle that Jesus Christ offers us is the ability to (at any moment we choose) to come into the presence of God and find forgiveness, healing, and grace. And when we “come and see” our immediate response will be to go and tell what Christ has done for us; to take somebody else by the hand and lead them to Him. The Strongest Argument-- You know, I love studying the historical evidence of the truth of Christianity. I love the field of apologetics. But you know [The strongest argument for the Gospel of Christ is {not argument, but rather} the personal testimony of someone whose life has been changed by it. Charles Bradlaugh, an avowed infidel, once challenged the Rev. H.P. Hughes to a debate. The preacher, who was head of a rescue mission in London, England, accepted the challenge with the condition that he could bring with him 100 men and women who would tell what had happened in their lives since trusting Christ as their Savior. They would be people who once lived in deep sin, some having come from poverty-stricken homes caused by the vices of their parents. Hughes said they would not only tell of their conversion, but would submit to cross-examination by any who doubted their stories. Furthermore, the minister invited his opponent to bring a group of non-believers who could tell how they were helped by their lack of faith. When the appointed day arrived, the preacher came, accompanied by 100 transformed persons. But Bradlaugh never showed up. The result? The meeting turned into a testimony time and many sinners who had gathered to hear the scheduled debate were converted.] The greatest testimony we can have is showing how Christ has made a difference in our lives and inviting those we come into contact with to “Come and see” the Savior. People, Our Lasting Monuments-- You want to know what the impact of Nathanael's response to Philip's call to “Come and see” was? In later years he became [one of the Church's most adventurous missionaries. He is said to have preached with Philip in Phrygia and Hierapolis; also in Armenia. The Armenian Church claims him as its founder…], a Church of over 11,000,000 self-proclaimed members. Perhaps it is little wonder that Nathanael's name means “Gift of God”. To those of you who are listening today, I want to encourage you to not let Christ remain silent in your life. Let Him be played. Let people be able to hear the song sung through your life and hear in that melody the chord their own hearts have been searching for. And then invite them to “come and see” Jesus so that He might bring about that song in their own lives. Amen.
A homily on the following Scriptures from the daily office lectionary In the Book of Common Prayer:Matthew 17:14-20 (NRSV)When they came to the crowd, a man came to him, knelt before him, and said, “Lord, have mercy on my son, for he is an epileptic and he suffers terribly; he often falls into the fire and often into the water. And I brought him to your disciples, but they could not cure him.” Jesus answered, “You faithless and perverse generation, how much longer must I be with you? How much longer must I put up with you? Bring him here to me.” And Jesus rebuked the demon, and it came out of him, and the boy was cured instantly. Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, “Why could we not cast it out?” He said to them, “Because of your little faith. For truly I tell you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.” But this kind does not come out except by prayer and fasting.Psalm 95 (NIV)Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation.Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song. For the Lord is the great God, the great King above all gods.In his hand are the depths of the earth, and the mountain peaks belong to him.The sea is his, for he made it, and his hands formed the dry land.Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker;for he is our God and we are the people of his pasture, the flock under his care.Today, if only you would hear his voice,“Do not harden your hearts as you did at Meribah, as you did that day at Massah in the wilderness, where your ancestors tested me; they tried me, though they had seen what I did.For forty years I was angry with that generation; I said, ‘They are a people whose hearts go astray, and they have not known my ways.’So I declared on oath in my anger, ‘They shall never enter my rest.’”Join the Chickmonks community as a monthly patron and become a part of expanding this healing and hope, maintaining regular, new episodes and access to older ones: https://www.patreon.com/join/chickmonks/checkout
I’M IN—1 I’M INVITED I’m invited. I’m invaluable. I’m influential I’m invested. Jesus invites the people others reject. A woman in that town who lived a sinful life learned that Jesus was eating at the Pharisee’s house, so she came there with an alabaster jar of perfume. Luke 7:37 NIV As she stood behind him at his feet weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears. Then she wiped them with her hair, kissed them and poured perfume on them. Luke 7:38 NIV When the Pharisee who had invited him [Jesus] saw this, he said to himself, “If this man were a prophet, he would know who is touching him and what kind of woman she is—that she is a sinner.” Luke 7:39 NIV Then he [Jesus] turned toward the woman and said to Simon, “Do you see this woman? I came into your house. You did not give me any water for my feet, but she wet my feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair. 45You did not give me a kiss, but this woman, from the time I entered, has not stopped kissing my feet. 46You did not put oil on my head, but she has poured perfume on my feet. 47Therefore, I tell you, her many sins have been forgiven—as her great love has shown. But whoever has been forgiven little loves little.” 48Then Jesus said to her, “Your sins are forgiven.” Luke 7:44-48 NIV “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” Matthew 11:28-29 NIV TALK IT OVER Everyone has a story. Describe your faith journey. How was it that you were invited? How did you come to know Christ? When you came to faith in Christ, what did you experience or feel? Pick one word to describe what you experienced after you found faith in Christ. Talk about one person you’re praying for to come to Christ. Pray for those you know and love who don’t know Christ.

Now on his way to Jerusalem, Jesus traveled along the border between Samaria and Galilee. As he was going into a village, ten men who had leprosy met him. They stood at a distance and called out in a loud voice, “Jesus, Master, have pity on us!” When he saw them, he said, “Go, show yourselves to the priests.” And as they went, they were cleansed. One of them, when he saw he was healed, came back, praising God in a loud voice. He threw himself at Jesus' feet and thanked him—and he was a Samaritan. Jesus asked, “Were not all ten cleansed? Where are the other nine? Has no one returned to give praise to God except this foreigner?” Then he said to him, “Rise and go; your faith has made you well.” Luke 17:11-17 (NIV) When gratitude grows, worship overflows. Believing Then they asked him, “What must we do to do the works God requires?” Jesus answered, “The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent.”John 6:28-29(NIV) “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Worrying leads to anxiety. Anxiety leads to tension, tension leads to pain, pain leads to fear. Fear leads to anger, anger leads to destruction, destruction leads to death. These are in contradiction to rest. Rest leads to trust, trust leads to favour, favour leads to happiness, happiness leads to joy, joy leads to peace, peace leads to love, love leads to hope, hope leads to life! Matthew 11:28-30 (NIV): “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
We can be so quick to complicate our lives. We get caught up in all that we are responsible for and we miss the simple truth that Christ calls us to Him to find rest and peace. Adam Barnett launches our Dwell series by encouraging us to keep it simple. Simple Spirituality Dwell | Week 1 April 23, 2017 | Adam Barnett Matthew 22:36-40 (NIV) “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” Jesus replied, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. Each of has one or more things that we feel could disqualify us from being used by God. But Jesus has a different perspective. Rather than seeing our past, He sees our potential. Rather than judging us the way the world does, He loves us and wants to use us right where we are. Pastor Bill Clark kicks off our study of a few people that had life-changing encounters with Jesus. Disqualified Disqualified | Week 1 August 21, 2016 | Bill Clark John 4:4-18 (NIV) 4 Now He had to go through Samaria. 5 So He came to a town in Samaria called Sychar, near the plot of ground Jacob had given his son Joseph. 6 Jacob’s well was there, and Jesus, tired as He as from the journey, sat down by the well. It was about the sixth hour. 7 When a Samaritan woman came to draw water, Jesus said to her, “Will you give me a drink?” 8 (His disciples had gone into the town to buy food.) 9 The Samaritan woman said to Him, “You are a Jew and I am a Samaritan woman. How can you ask me for a drink?” (For Jews do not associate with Samaritans.) 10 Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked Him and He would have given you living water.” 11 ”Sir,” the woman said, “you have nothing to draw with and the well is deep. Where can you get this living water? 12 Are you greater than our father Jacob, who gave us this well and drank from it himself, as did also his sons and his flocks and herds?” 13 Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, 14 but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” 15 The woman said to Him, “Sir, give me this water so that I won’t get thirsty and have to keep coming here to draw water.” 16 He told her, “Go, call your husband and come back.” 17 ”I have no husband,” she replied. Jesus said to her, “You are right when you say you have no husband. 18 The fact is, you have had five husbands, and the man you now have is not your husband. What you have just said is quite true. Jesus had a different attitude toward disqualified people. John 4:19-30,39 (NIV) 19 ”Sir,” the woman said, “I can see that you are a prophet. 20 Our fathers worshipped on this mountain, but you Jews claim that the place where we must worship is in Jerusalem.” 21 Jesus declared, “Believe me, woman, a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem.” 22 You Samaritans worship what you do not know; we worship what we do know, for salvation is from the Jews. 23 Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. 24 God is spirit, and His worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth.” 25 The woman said, “I know that Messiah” (called Christ)“ is coming. When He comes, He will explain everything to us.” 26 Then Jesus declared, “I who speak to you am He.” 27 Just then His disciples returned and were surprised to find Him talking with a woman. But no one asked, “What do you want” or “Why are you talking with her?” 28 Then, leaving her water jar, the woman went back to the town and said to the people, 29 ”Come, see a man who told me everything I ever did. Could this be the Christ?” 30 They came out of the town and made their way toward him. 39 Many of the Samaritans from that town believed him Him because of the woman’s testimony, “He told me everything I ever did.” John 4:29 (NIV) Come see a man who told me everything I ever did. He counted her qualified.
((Revelation 21:4-5) He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death' or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” “If you want God to do something new, you can't keep doing the same old thing.”-Mark Batterson Title of message: New or Improved? (2 Corinthians 5:17) (TLB) When someone becomes a Christian, he becomes a brand new person inside. He is not the same anymore. A new life has begun! We change our lives: 1. By changing from the OUTSIDE IN or by changing from the INSIDE OUT. 2. By DOING SOMETHING different or by BEING SOMEONE different. (Hebrews 10:16) (NLT) “This is the new covenant I will make with my people on that day, says the Lord: (Hebrews 10:16) (NLT) I will put my laws in their hearts, and I will write them on their minds.” (Hebrews 10:17) (NLT) Then he says, “I will never again remember their sins and lawless deeds.” (Hebrews 10:19-20) (NLT) And so, dear brothers and sisters, we can boldly enter heaven's Most Holy Place because of the blood of Jesus. By his death, Jesus opened a new and life-giving way through the curtain into the Most Holy Place. (Hebrews 10:21-22) (NLT) And since we have a great High Priest who rules over God's house, let us go right into the presence of God with sincere hearts fully trusting him. For our guilty consciences have been sprinkled with Christ's blood to make us clean, and our bodies have been washed with pure water. (Hebrews 10:23) (NLT) Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise. (Hebrews 10:24) (NLT) Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. (Hebrews 10:25) (NLT) And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near. Let us go right into the presence of God Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm Let us think of ways to motivate one another Let us not neglect our meeting together In order to become NEW we must ask ourselves: 1. Am I worshipping intimately? (John 4:23) (NIV) Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. (James 4:8) (NIV) Come near to God and he will come near to you. 2. Am I feeding daily? (Joshua 1:8) (NLT) Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do. (Psalm 119:105) (NLT) Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path. 3. Am I serving faithfully? (1 Peter 4:10) (NIV) Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God's grace in its various forms. 4. Am I connecting regularly? (James 5:16) (NLT) Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. (2 Corinthians 5:17) (TLB) When someone becomes a Christian, he becomes a brand new person inside. He is not the same anymore. A new life has begun!
