Ketamine: A Powerful Tool for Mental Health Treatment (Dr. Remi Drozd)

Play Episode Listen Later Sep 6, 2024 79:38

Dr. Remi Drozd, an ER physician, shares his journey into working with psychedelics and ketamine specifically. He noticed that Western medicine couldn't effectively address mental health crisis, and after his own transformative experience with psychedelics, he realized their potential for healing. Ketamine is most useful for depression, anxiety, and helping people who are stuck. He explains that the treatment protocol typically involves multiple sessions, with preparation and integration being key components. The success of this type of therapy, he shares, is impacted greatly by the intention of the person sitting for the session, as it sets the stage for their experience and guides their integration process. The medicine Ketamine is a synthetic compound that has natural origins and is found to have a profound impact on the mind and body. Dr Drozd explains that it works by taking the mind offline and creating a sedative state, allowing the body to rest and relax. It has been used to treat depression, anxiety, and neuropathic pain. However, the effectiveness of ketamine therapy depends on the individual's intention and willingness to actively participate in their healing journey. They discuss the idea of spiritual bypassing, which and relies solely on the medicine without doing the necessary inner work, and how that can hinder long-term healing. Dr. Remi tells Ryan how he believes that the future of psychedelics is expanding access and integrating psychedelic therapy into education. The ideal future is where psychedelic therapy becomes normalized and part of the standard therapeutic process. The analog to ketamine therapy could be a meaningful, mindful meditation practice that focuses on being intensely present and non-judgmental. Mindful meditation can create cross-hemispheric connections and reduce dissociation, similar to the effects of EMDR therapy. Dr. Remi Drozd is a board certified ER physician with 15 years of experience and now owns and operates Lucid Therapeutics, a ketamine psychedelic therapy clinic in Santa Barbara California.Learn more about HopeGuide and Ryan Pink Join us on YouTube to watch full episodes Help us amplify the message! Please subscribe on your favorite podcast app! Please Rate and Review the podcast on Apple and Spotify!

In this conversation between Corban and Jessica Battle, she starts off telling a story from when she was seven years old and her father left her family in a difficult situation, and how that was the start of her damaging relationship with food. She shared how her eating choices caused shame as she grew up. At age 19 she was ready to loose weight, and did, but only with a severely limited diet, not addressing the issues that were causing the dysfunction. When she achieved a smaller size, she got more attention and acceptance which felt damaging as it reinforced the messaging that her size was the most important part of her worth. A year later she had gained back the weight. She dieted again, but this time realized she needed to do it differently. It was more sustainable, but she still needed to address her relationship with food itself, and the reasons she used food to cope. Finally, she committed to no longer be on a restrictive diet and felt brave enough to confront the things that were holding her back. Her personal growth was directly related to seeing herself differently, to learning and embracing her worthiness.Jessica Battle is a mindset coach and is known as the Queen of Pep-talks. Pt. 2 When External Transformation Leads to Internal Transformation (Morgan Wider)

In today's episode, Corban speaks with his friend Morgan Wider. Morgan is officially an executive stylist, but unofficially acts as a kind of style doula, helping women to find and express their inner strength, beauty, and personality, and finding healing along the way. We don't typically think of how we dress as being a path into healing, but our style is an expression of who we are and how we want people to view us, and exploring that can be a powerful way to find our way into our inherent worthiness and to find healing from the damning narratives so many of us carry around in our heads.  Morgan is the perfect person to tackle this subject and brings insight with precision and love.  She is the author of a book called The Worthy Wardrobe: Your Guide to Style, Shopping & Soul, where she explores these intersections and the complicated relationship women have with clothes. Part memoir, part style guide, her book helps readers build a wardrobe and image that reflects their inherent Worthiness.Check out her website: www.widerstyle.com Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/WiderStyle/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/morganwiderstyle/ Learn more about HopeGuide and Ryan Pink Join us on YouTube to watch full episodes Help us amplify the message! Please subscribe on your favorite podcast app! Please Rate and Review the podcast on Apple and Spotify!

Pt.1 Style as a Path To Discovering Inherent Worth (Morgan Wider)

In today's episode, Corban speaks with his friend Morgan Wider. Morgan shares candidly about how she found her path to healing in the way that she presented herself to the world, what that communicated to others about her worth, and more importantly…what that communicated to herself.  Her journey is fascinating, inspiring, and charts a path that almost anyone can look to find their own healing and to develop their own sense of self-worth.After studying Economics at Georgetown University, she spent 10 years working at the corporate offices of some of the world's biggest retail brands: The Gap, Banana Republic, Old Navy, and Carters, Inc.  While there, she grew several businesses with her knowledge of merchandising, apparel production, pricing strategy and international development.  She started Wider Style to help other women make the same transformation she did and to help them finally see themselves. She uses her diverse background to work with professional women throughout the world and help them understand that being seen as a well put together and attractive woman doesn't detract from their intelligence or professional accomplishments, but in fact enhances them. She is the author of a book called The Worthy Wardrobe: Your Guide to Style, Shopping & Soul, where she explores these intersections and the complicated relationship women have with clothes. Part memoir, part style guide, her book helps readers build a wardrobe and image that reflects their inherent Worthiness.Visit her website: www.widerstyle.com Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/WiderStyle/ Instagram:  https://www.instagram.com/morganwiderstyle/ Learn more about HopeGuide and Ryan Pink Join us on YouTube to watch full episodes Help us amplify the message! Please subscribe on your favorite podcast app! Please Rate and Review the podcast on Apple and Spotify!
