On today's show, we chat with two time guest, Ben Fuller!Music has taken Ben Fuller's life and made it into something he never would have dreamed. Ben grew up in Southern Vermont on his family dairy farm working along-side his father. He'd pass the time by singing classic country tunes as he witnessed first-hand the hard work and dedication it took to run a farm. After generations of hurt in his family, Ben turned to cocaine and alcohol at a young age. Motivated to change, he moved to Nashville to pursue a career as a country singer in late 2018. A family friend invited Ben over for a meal and then to church the next morning, where he was radically transformed by the power of God. Today, Ben lives completely sober, while sharing his story of hope, redemption, and healing in Jesus' Name through his songs. Ben was nominated for the 2023 K-LOVE Fan Awards (Breakout Single of The Year - “Who I Am”) and the 2023 Dove Awards (New Artist of the Year). In 2024, he was nominated for the Dove Award for Bluegrass/Country/Roots Recorded Song of the Year (“If I Got Jesus”). His debut single, “Who I Am” went #1 on multiple Christian radio charts, while “If I Got Jesus” has amassed over 48M streams as well as 1.4B short form views and 2.1M creations on TikTok. Additionally, Ben has performed at the Grand Ole Opry and the CMA Festival, and has toured with Casting Crowns, Zach Williams, Big Daddy Weave, CAIN, We Are Messengers, and others.Provident Entertainment and chart-topping singer-songwriter Ben Fuller are excited to announce the release of his highly anticipated new album, Walk ThroughFire, available worldwide on June 6. The new project features Fuller's most personal and powerful music to date, including the brand-new single, “Since Jesus, ” out today and availableon all streaming platforms. Written by Ben Fuller, Ethan Hulse, and Sam Martinez, and produced by Martinez, “Since Jesus” is a bold declaration of transformation and faith. Following the success of his previoussingle “If It Was Up To Me” featuring multi-platinum country icon Carrie Underwood, Fuller's latest release showcases his signature blend of vulnerability, authenticity, and soul-stirring conviction. 'Since Jesus' is my favorite track on the album, ” says Fuller,“ and the message is simple: my life has dramatically changed since I met Jesus and the journey He has taken” me on. Walk Through Firemarks a milestone moment in Fuller's journey, both musically and spiritually. The record blends elements of rock, classical, and country, and represents Fuller at his most honest and unfiltered. From the first prayer to the final production, he played a hands-on role in every step of the process. “God walked everywhere when He was on this earth. He was never in a hurry, ” Fuller shares about the album's theme. “He meets you where you are—whether at your highest high or your lowest low. I'm thankful that I had to walk through fire to get to where I am today. It was time to throw out my old boots, the ones covered in sin and shame, and put on new ones as I started my walk with God."@bendfullerchristianmusicguys.com@christianmusicguys

More Than a Song - Discovering the Truth of Scripture Hidden in Today's Popular Christian Music
Send us a textScripture teaches us that the "message declared by angels proved to be reliable" (Heb. 2:2). No wonder the traditional Christmas carol instructs us to "hark" -- pay attention to -- what the angels are declaring. There's no better way to celebrate a time-honored hymn like "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing" than by adding the fun Celtic version by We Are Messengers to your playlist.Let's follow the call to action in our song and pay attention to what Scripture teaches us in Luke's narrative of Christ's birth. In this episode, I discuss the following:Taking a B.I.T.E. out of Scripture – this week's Bible Interaction Tool Exercises include: Read in contextSlow downRepetitionListen to an audio of the textMake observationsMake a listShare with a friendEpisode GuideCatch me on my podcast book tour! Can I accept (and embrace) that suffering can be for my good and my transformation into Christ-likeness? This conversation dives deep into the purpose and presence of suffering in our lives, particularly through a Christian lens. Darren Mulligan, the lead singer of We Are Messengers (@wearemessengers), shares an insightful perspective on how suffering is a gateway to abundant life, not something to be avoided or resented. His point is that while the Gospel promises life, that life comes through the crucifixion and resurrection of Christ—through suffering and sacrifice, not in spite of them. Suzi and Cosmo unpack this by acknowledging that suffering isn't something that we can escape, but rather, it's something that shapes us, deepens our faith, and draws us closer to God. While suffering is hard and sometimes feels overwhelming, it has purpose and meaning when viewed through the lens of faith. Culturally, we have a tendency to avoid or medicate pain, which often only postpones the real healing that comes from facing our suffering and allowing God to work through it. They conclude by offering prayer and inviting listeners who are struggling to reach out for support, highlighting the importance of community and spiritual connection during tough times. Their message is one of hope, reminding listeners that even in the hardest moments, God is present and at work. Romans 8:17...Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory. This week, we'll visit with two musicians who found their love for music early on, but took some devastating detours along the way to their dreams of full-time music careers. Darren Mulligan is songwriter and lead singer for the Dove Award-winning Christian music group We Are Messengers. Early in his music pursuits, Darren found himself indulging in other things that caused damage to himself and to those he loved—admitting that he was, “manipulative and just very broken.” He shares the story of attending a little church in his hometown in Monaghan, Ireland, and what happened that altered his course—and his music—forever. Joseph Habedank is a two-time time Grammy nominated singer and songwriter who traveled for many years with the legendary southern gospel group The Perrys. Dealing with an ailment on the road, Joseph unexpectedly fell into addiction and found himself trading his dreams of singing for the pursuit of his next high. He shares what reaching rock bottom meant to him, and how he sought help in prayer, rehabilitation, and therapy. It was a very small view of God that He couldn't use the gifts He had given me, and He couldn't keep me from my sin.” - Darren Mulligan “Misery loves company. But what I later found out in life is that joy needs a friend too, you know?” - Darren Mulligan “There's a lot of areas in my life that I've messed up, nearly every area—being a father, being a husband, being a follower, being a man. And it's the grace of God that I rely on so heavily.” - Darren Mulligan “My joy could only be found in walking close enough to Jesus that I learn to love what He loves.” - Darren Mulligan “I was a Christian music artist, and I was chasing dope. That was my full time job, and I was exhausted. It was probably the darkest time in my life. I really thought I'd never sing again.” - Joseph Habedank “When I lost my job doing what I've always wanted to do, which is sing about Jesus, that was my rock bottom. I thought, "If I can no longer do what God put me on this earth to do, I need help.” - Joseph Habedank “So much of our addiction is tied up in lies. And once we bring something from the darkness into the light, it loses its power.” - Joseph Habedank “It's so amazing to me that we base our whole Christianity on this word called faith. And the reason we do that is because we literally have to talk to someone that we have never seen. We have to lean on that word, faith, and believe that not only is He there, but He's listening and He cares and He loves us.” - Joseph Habeank ________________________ Enjoy watching these additional videos from Jesus Calling YouTube channel! Ben is the singer songwriter of hits: Who I Am (8 million streams on Spotify alone), But The Cross, If I Got Jesus, and new songs you just have to hear for yourself: Proud (we go deep into this powerful song on Father-child relationships), Other Plans (what a story!) and many more. In this interview Ben promises (threatens?) to do a backflip (shoutout Logan Cain), even sings a little “Cain”, and references conversation with the Cain band and Taylor Cain Matz about the power of God's word and the dangers of neglecting God's written word. Ben talks about the blessing of the platforms given to musicians but also that we ALL have gifts from the Lord and must lean into our special gifts. He shares a story on Mark Hall of Casting Crowns about being on stage and how easy it is to not invite the Holy Spirit to the party. Ben is currently on tour with We Are Messengers and Jonathan Traylor and talks about the show being realness, sweet, kind, without the competition that sometimes can be found. Most of the second half of the interview (16 minutes to 32 minutes) is spent going into the story (and backstory) of the song, Proud, as well as talking about how the love of God brings healing to relationships. This is powerful song and also powerful story here of how God can bring healing to father-child relationships. Ben Fuller has depth in his relationship with Christ. That depth comes out in his songs and in his conversations and in this interview. Darren Mulligan is a single-minded Irishman who writes rock n' roll anthems and intimate earthly psalms for messy, broken people. Our guest is the frontman for We Are Messengers, a band whose stated goal is to engage culture in conversation about the goodness of God. It shows up in their songs that address some of the hardest things we feel as humans. After spending nearly a decade living in the Nashville area, Mulligan and his family have moved back to their homeland. Darren joined us from just outside his farmhouse in the hills of Ireland.

Stubborn, selfish, atheist, adulterer. All words that Darren Mulligan uses to describe who he was as a young adult. And not surprisingly, he was also miserable. So when his girlfriend announced she had met Jesus, and found hope and healing, Darren wasn't happy for her, he was actually angry. It's hard to believe this was the man who would one day share the Gospel with thousands through his music. Darren is the lead singer for “We Are Messengers” , a group that originated in Ireland. What to many appeared to be an overnight success story, was actually a hard and very messy journey to Jesus.
