Depicting a vision for what this world could be, this Psalm, set to the Scottish tune ‘Lovely Molly,' imagines love and mercy (or truth or faithfulness, in other translations), justice and peace coming together to greet and kiss. This rendition of the Psalm continues to unfold that vision of the future as one in which God's goodness and kindness are evident, healing takes place, and the people will sing. You can find lyrics, scores/books, mp3s, CDs for Love and Mercy on the Celtic Psalms webpage (www.celticpsalms.com)Listen to Kiran and Celtic Psalms on TEDxThe journal is available in paperback format on Amazon! Here's the link to the paperback journal (available globally), and if you would be so kind as to leave a review on the Amazon platform in your region, that will help other readers find it! You can grab the free workbook at www.catholicmomcalm.com/lent2024 Full text of St. Faustina's Diary. Reflection question: Sit quietly with the Lord for a minute and ask Him to show you where you have a distrust of Him. Let Him show you your woundedness so you can invite Him in to heal you. Write what you hear. Excerpt from St. Faustina's Diary for today (1074-1076): When I went for adoration, I heard these words: My beloved daughter, write down these words, that today My Heart has rested in this convent [the Cracow house]. Tell the world about My mercy and My love. The flames of mercy are burning me. I desire to pour them out upon human souls. Oh, what pain they cause Me when they do not want to accept them! My daughter, do whatever is within your power to spread devotion to My mercy. I will make up for what you lack. Tell aching mankind to snuggle close to My merciful Heart, and I will fill it with peace. Tell [all people], My daughter, that I am Love and Mercy itself. When a soul approaches Me with trust, I fill it with such an abundance of graces that it cannot contain them within itself, but radiates them to other souls. Souls who spread the honor of My mercy I shield through their entire lives as a tender mother her infant, and at the hour of death I will not be a Judge for them, but the merciful Savior. At that last hour, a soul has nothing with which to defend itself except My mercy. Happy is the soul that during its lifetime immersed itself in the Fountain of Mercy, because justice will have no hold on it. Write this: Everything that exists is enclosed in the bowels of My mercy, more deeply than an infant in its mother's womb. How painfully distrust of My goodness wounds Me! Sins of distrust wound Me most painfully.
My mother heard in her heart, "Pray that My mercy and love be poured out upon this place." And, thank God, she did.

The film stars Ryan Gosling as Neil Armstrong, alongside Claire Foy, Jason Clarke, Kyle Chandler, Corey Stoll, Christopher Abbott, and Ciarán Hinds, and follows the years leading up to the Apollo 11 mission to the Moon in 1969. Love & Mercy is a 2014 American biographical drama film directed by Bill Pohlad about the Beach Boys' co-founder and leader Brian Wilson and his struggles with mental illness during the 1960s and 1980s. It stars Paul Dano and John Cusack as the young and middle-aged Wilson, respectively, with Elizabeth Banks as his second wife Melinda Ledbetter and Paul Giamatti as his psychologist Dr. Eugene Landy. Do you struggle with fear when you think of sharing your faith? If so, your not alone and todays guest might hold the key to help you unlock your courage. In this episode, Karen and Norma discuss the importance of cultivating a heart of compassion when it comes to sharing our faith, particularly when it comes to different cultures. Norma shares her experience of leaving Nigeria and going to Lebanon and how there she realized how much God loves her. She explains how this impacted her and how she was then able to find the compassion she needed to reach out to others. Understanding God's love is the missing key to be able to love and reach out to those who don't know Him.Learn more about The Blue Cord at www.TheBlueCord.orgPurchase The Blue Cord book at: https://shop.churchleaders.com/products/the-blue-cord?_pos=1&_sid=c7e502826&_ss=rSupport The Blue Cord: https:www.iHOPEministries.org/giveTimestamps00:00:00 Cultivating a Heart of Compassion00:03:00 Cat and Dog Theology00:05:00 The Power of Compassion and Trust in God00:08:00 Reflections on Philippians 1:2900:10:00 God's Heart for Migrants and Immigrants00:14:00 Sharing the Gospel with Respect and Love00:19:00 Evangelism and Building Relationships with Jesus00:23:00 Reflection on Compassion and Empathy Helpful Resources: “The Blue Cord" by Karen Bejjani Find it wherever books are sold online. The Blue Cord Small Group Discipleship Study. Sometimes we say or do things because we are supposed to, not because of basic love in our hearts. How do we love ourselves and others as Jesus commands, in all we think, say and do?
We've all been given love and mercy, but will we receive it? God has given us the greatest gift of all which is Jesus but we must acknowledge and accept Him. Have you been blessed by our podcast? How well does the film cover two very different periods of Beach Boys singer Brian Wilson's life, and how well do the two different actors (Cusack and Dano) embody him? Do the film's two different styles and perspectives cohere, or do they wipe out? How do our parents feel about the Beach Boys vs. The Beatles? How do YOU feel about the Beach Boys vs. The Beatles? Listen in and write in to let us know!
The ICU can be a traumatizing place for patients, who are frequently heavily sedated, rendered unable to speak by breathing tubes, isolated by family visit limitations, and sometimes even physically restrained. In fact, a significant proportion of patients discharged from the ICU later develop persistent cognitive impairments and physical disabilities. Over the past two decades, Dr. Wes Ely has worked to improve the care of patients in the ICU, leading landmark studies resulting in the development of delirium prevention protocols that are now adopted in ICUs everywhere. Today, Dr. Ely co-directs the Critical Illness, Bran Dysfunction, and Survivorship (CIBS) Center at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. In this episode, Dr. Ely joins us to share his career-long fight to reform ICU medicine and to recount poignant stories that illuminate and elevate the humanity of patients amid the chaos of the ICU — and in the process discusses themes that seldom appear in contemporary medical discourse, such as love, beauty, and mercy. In this episode, you will hear about:How Dr. Ely discovered medicine as a calling while growing up in rural Louisiana - 2:33How a fascination with cardiopulmonary physiology, combined with an interest in patient relationships, led Dr. Ely to critical care medicine - 4:27A discussion of how patients in ICUs can often be “de-humanized” - 6:31A story from early in Dr. Ely's career that illustrates “malignant normality” — when treatment norms led to patient harm - 10:40A discussion of physician burnout and how the dehumanization of patients contributes to it - 13:27What Dr. Ely and his colleagues have learned through years of research about the harmful standard practices of ICU care - 18:53An explanation of the ABCDEF treatment bundle designed by Dr. Ely and his collaborators to improve outcomes of patients in the ICU patients - 24:04How Dr. Ely processes the guilt and shame he feels from the harm he inadvertently caused to patients early in his career - 29:37Reflections on how eye contact, physical touch, and openness of the heart are essential to good medicine - 36:03A discussion on how Dr. Ely's spirituality has influenced his approach to patient care - 44:51What it means to provide healing when patients are facing serious illness, even at the end of life - 50:45Dr. Wes Ely is the author of Every Deep-Drawn Breath, a chronicle of his experiences caring for ICU patients. You can find out more about his work at ICUDelirium.orgFollow Dr. Ely on Twitter @WesElyMDVisit our website www.TheDoctorsArt.com where you can find transcripts of all episodes. If you enjoyed this episode, please subscribe, rate, and review our show, available for free on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Luke 6:29b-36
The pasuk says תמים תהיה עם ה' אלוקיך . When a person wholeheartedly accepts the way that Hashem is dealing with him, then עם ה' אלוקיך , he becomes one with Hashem. The Ya'arot Devash (1:6) writes that one of the ways in which a person can change din into rachamim is by accepting the way Hashem deals with him, with love. Usually, when a person has a problem, it takes up his entire mind and becomes his main focus. Very easily, he could block out all of the goodness in his life and feel bitter towards Hashem, chas v'shalom . If, on the other hand, the person says to himself, Hashem is doing to me exactly what I need to fulfill my purpose, and it's all being done with love and mercy, that thought process would elevate him so much and bring him so close to Hashem, as well as bring about a favorable judgment for the upcoming year. This is easy to say but hard to do. It requires a true belief in Hashem's love for us. A woman told me she has a friend, who we'll call Sarah, who converted to Judaism many years ago. Sarah embraced everything about the religion and Hashem and married a man who was completely religious and raised a religious family with him. However, they began having certain problems and the husband slowly started becoming less and less religious until he wanted to completely forsake Judaism. He was born Jewish but wanted nothing to do with Torah and mitzvot and, eventually, he went off the derech and divorced his wife. Unfortunately, two of their children followed a similar path and Sarah had basically lost three of the most important people in her life. She then had to support the rest of her family by getting a job. But one job was not enough, so she took on a second. One of them starts at 4:00 in the morning until 8:00 and the second job is from 9:00-5:00. She comes home afterward and tends to the needs of her loving children. She has a plethora of other issues going on as well, but every day she wakes up with a smile, excited to serve Hashem. Recently, the woman who was telling this to me called Sarah to catch up on things. Sarah mentioned that her stove was broken and her oven was broken, amongst other things, but she was saying it in a joking mood. The woman asked her how she could be so happy with so many problems in her life. Sarah replied with enthusiasm saying how kind Hashem is to her and how much He takes care of her and her family. The rest of the conversation was all praises of Hashem. This woman was in awe of Sarah's emunah. Here you have someone who gave up everything in her life to become Jewish and she's experiencing so many hardships and all she does is thank and praise Hashem. Her attitude is inspiring. She truly understands how much Hashem loves her. And as a result, she is rising to the highest levels. Just living her day to day life with happiness is an unbelievable kiddush Hashem which she will be rewarded for, for all eternity.
