To celebrate the 10th anniversary of my "Compiled & Mixed" DJ set for Proton Records I'm happy to finally be releasing the full lossless download-link for free, reminisce and enjoy! Beatport link to tracklist and optional purchase (including individual tracks): https://www.beatport.com/release/rich-curtis/1341159 Beatport Release notes: >> Opened by the stunning orchestral strings that lit up Timo Camillo's 2008 "Teadrops" EP for Particles, the title track from Kobana's Proton Music album, "The Riddle", quickly takes shape followed by stand out contributions from Andre Sobota: the iconic "One Day Out", remixed by Proton progenitor, Sandji, and Proton Music favourite, Ryan Davis, with his 2010 interpretation of the sublime, "Red Dust". Sobota later takes on remix duties himself for Tvardovsky and Marc Mitchell and Steve T, to showcase a timely reminder of Brazilian magic. Particles regular, Ferdy, makes a trio of contributions including a remix from rising Australian star, Verve, while a plethora of deep house classics from the Apollo imprint see Artette, Loz Goddard, and Ellroy make significant contributions. No compilation would be complete without a clutch of offerings from Curtis himself as the Queenslander's remix of French star Loac Erepams in 2013, is followed by an exquisite reworking of "Dead Mophead" from Greek superstar, Dousk in the same year, before Rich's original mix of "Safety Thirst" rounds off a superlative collection of tracks

Mitchell has been an Artist-in-Residence at the Banff Center for Arts & Creativity, Ucross Foundation, Vermont Studio Center, Hambidge Center for the Arts, Jentel Foundation, and Tides Institute/StudioWorks. In 2021, Mitchell was a Fellow at The American Academy in Rome. In addition to his studio practice, Mitchell has curated exhibitions that feature artists such as Tauba Auerbach (Diagonal Press), Mel Bochner, Matt Bollinger, Mark Bradford, Tara Donovan, Chie Fueki, Daniel Gordon, Sara Greenberger-Rafferty, Philip Guston, Josephine Halvorson, Trenton Doyle Hancock, Jenny Holzer, Rashid Johnson, Mary Reid Kelley, Ellsworth Kelly, Arnold Kemp, Allan McCollum, Kay Rosen, Erin Shirreff, Lorna Simpson, Jered Sprecher, Jessica Stockholder, Jason Stopa, Hank Willis Thomas, Carrie Mae Weems, Lawrence Weiner, Wendy White, Molly Zuckerman-Hartung, and many others. "I am influenced by many things—1980's guitars, VHS tapes, World War I battleships, sunrise/sunset gradients, moiré patterns, and more. Over the past 3 years, ‘notions of cycle' have played an increased role in the development of my paintings; and I'm curious how the avant-garde succeeds and fails within popular culture. Currently, I'm interested in how the landscape has been depicted throughout American culture. Whether it's Thomas Cole and Albert Bierstadt of the Hudson River School, Georgia O'Keeffe's monumental work at the Art Institute of Chicago, or an Instagram post of a sunset—each conveys a romanticized view of our world. The most recent paintings are an amalgamation of experiences that I've had within the American landscape; with each painting flowing freely between representation and abstraction." Dr. Marc Mitchell is a kinesiologist who researches the subject of exercise as medicine. In his role as Assistant Professor at Western University, Ontario, Marc specializes in devising effective ways to encourage people to engage in physical activity. Despite his high-performing sporting past as a professional footballer in the CFL, Marc is more interested in everyday fitness and helping people build healthy, realistic, and sustainable exercise habits. Today, we dive into the psychology behind building routines and discuss the benefits of regular exercise. In this episode, you'll hear from Marc Mitchell on:(00:09:03) The Caterpillar app. Marc talks about the app he and his team at Western University have recently been working on and describes how the program uses behavioral science to help people lose weight, live more active lifestyles, and create healthy habits that stick.(00:13:50) The superhero of exercise. Marc lists the many benefits of walking, including improving mood and preventing or alleviating chronic health conditions like diabetes and arthritis. He also touches on the mental health benefits of exercising outside.(00:23:03) The exercise prescription triangle. We learn about the importance of establishing an exercise routine, then gradually increasing its volume and intensity to meet the recommended guidelines of 150 minutes per week of moderate to vigorous activity.(00:28:34) Nudge theory and incentive-based rewards. We discuss the natural human tendency to prioritize present benefits over future gains, and Marc points to the advantages of promoting a more active lifestyle by offering positive reinforcements and emphasizing the immediate benefits of exercise, such as enhanced mood or better sleep(00:35:24) Cognitive gains. Marc refers to a study that shows that resistance training, such as lifting weights twice a week over a period of six to twelve months, can increase the size of the hippocampus and improve brain function in older adults. As an expert in human body movement, he recommends regular exercise for improved mental performance in people of all ages.

We all know physical activity is good for us, but the benefits specific to mental health and work performance are not always top of mind. As hybrid and work from home become the norm and physical activity and mental health deteriorate - should companies incentivize or pay for behaviours, such as physical activity to not only take care of their employees but also help boost their bottom line? In this episode we speak with Dr. Marc Mitchell about creative approaches to increase physical activity and all of its brain boosting benefits.

She recounts how she was scared, inspired, and guided by Dr. Marc Mitchell, the founder of D-Tree who passed away two years ago. Finally, we trace Erica's journey stepping into the role of CEO, and how she's had to carve out her own style of leadership. Erica never imagined she would take on this role... but when the time came, everyone else in the room knew she was the right woman for the job.
