Propertybuyer Podcast

Welcome to the Propertybuyer Podcast, where we dive deep into the insights shaping Australia's most dynamic property markets. I'm your host, Rich Harvey, and in today's episode, we will explore what's driving Melbourne's high-end property market in 2025. Melbourne's property market has languished somewhat in comparison to other capital cities, but tide is literally turning as we speak, and we are seeing the first green shoots of growth that will spread. I'm thrilled to be joined by one of the most respected names in Melbourne real estate—John Bongiorno, or Jack as he's known to many. With over 40 years of experience and a pivotal role as Senior Director at Marshall White, Jack brings an unmatched perspective on the evolution, trends, and opportunities within the luxury property sector. As a Senior Director of Marshall White, Jack has played a pivotal role in shaping the company into a market leader. Renowned for his commitment to achieving the highest possible sale price for his clients, Jack has conducted over 4,000 auctions, many of which have broken price records—solidifying his reputation as the consummate vendor's auctioneer. Beyond the property world, John's deep sense of community shines through his philanthropic efforts. He is a passionate supporter of several charities, including KOALA Kids, to which he donates the proceeds from his bestselling children's book Santa and His Brother Down Under. Whether mentoring emerging agents, contributing to causes close to his heart, or cheering on Collingwood with his family, John's integrity, generosity, and leadership have left an indelible mark on both the real estate industry and the broader community.

Successful property buying isn’t just about browsing online listings – it’s about building relationships with agents who can connect you with opportunities you won’t find advertised. Marshall White real estate agent Ben Bongiorno joins Nick Fennessy, Director at the Bongiorno Group, explore how buyers can navigate the property market more effectively. In this first of two-episode series, Ben shares his unique perspective on the property market, drawing on his experience advising medical professionals and now helping clients buy and sell property in one of Melbourne’s most competitive regions. The more specific and transparent you are with your criteria, the better an agent can help you secure the right property, sometimes even before it hits the market. The Money Doctors is proudly brought to you by leading financial services organisation the Bongiorno Group, the preferred tax and accounting partner for the Australian Medical Association Victoria. This is Derek Miller, Speaking on Business. Since 1973, VCBO Architecture has grown to become one of the top design firms in the western United States. Committed to community-driven design, the VCBO team thrives on projects with an impact. Principal architect Brent Tippets joins us with more. Brent Tippets: VCBO's mission is to create spaces for people to thrive. From Salt Lake City's iconic library to the new Primary Children's Hospital in Lehi, our work celebrates the communities we serve. Nothing demonstrates this more than the Marshall N. White Community Center in Ogden. Originally built in 1968, this beloved center honors Marshall White, a veteran, mentor, civil rights leader, and police officer killed in the line of duty. Over the past 50 years, the center has served a historically Black and Latino neighborhood, becoming a cherished gathering place engrained in the public memory. Guided by community input, we worked with Ogden City to design a replacement twice the size of the original, revitalized with amenities for recreation and community programs. Opening in 2025, the new center will preserve its legacy as a vibrant hub of connection and opportunity — a reflection of Ogden's values. This is what VCBO is about — creating community spaces beloved by the people we serve. Marshall White's association with You Matter began as a simple fundraising relationship but has evolved into so much more.  On this episode of Secrets of the Top 100 Agents, host Juliet Helmke speaks with Deborah de Rossi, CEO of You Matter, and Nicholas Brooks, director and auctioneer at Marshall White Stonnington, to hear about how the Melbourne network has grown its involvement with the organisation that plays a key role in housing women and families fleeing violence. Deborah explains how You Matter's work – furnishing homes for vulnerable women and families – plays an integral role in maintaining housing security for these Australians. She shares how Marshall White's role now goes beyond fundraising, including sourcing furnishings that are set to be discarded from the homes they are involved with. Nicholas describes the meaningful experience he had representing the real estate industry as one of You Matter's “Top 8” – eight men from across the community who have pledged to stand up against domestic violence – and speaks about what the network's charitable efforts mean to its staff. Most people don't think much about wooden pallets -- and that might be true even of people conducting large-scale military invasions. Recent reports claim that Russia's invasion of Ukraine has been hampered by a lack of pallets, making it more difficult to move the vast amounts of supplies needed to support soldiers and tanks. Meanwhile, the disruption of Ukraine's lumber industry could make a global shortage of wooden pallets even worse. On this episode of the Odd Lots podcast, we catch up with Marshall White, Professor Emeritus at Virginia Tech, to talk about the role of the humble wooden pallet in warfare.
