Following last week's vote to end the anti-xeno defence pact with the Sirius Corporation, Councillor Nakato Kaine is advocating on an "Alliance first" trade policy, buying from Alliance-based corporations, while Prime Minister Mahon wants to continue the Alliance's dependence on external mega-corporations like Sirius. Councillor Nakato Kaine has pledged that she will match Prime Minister Mahon's promise to hand out two sets of Power Distributors to everyone in the top 75% of contributors to her trade initiative, even if, as seems inevitable, the Prime Minister's initiative is more successful.

This week on the Mark Levin Show, President Trump rightly criticized Sen Tim Kaine for saying that our rights come from government, not God. The book "Ameritopia" explained that John Locke had profound influence on America's founders during the Revolutionary period. Locke's philosophy was, natural law, derived from God's will, governs all, including governments; no authority can violate inalienable rights; and governments exist by consent to preserve these rights, not create them. This connects to the Declaration of Independence's principles. Kaine's view is stunning and representative of the Democrat position. Why is our stated ally, Qatar, continuing to protect the leadership of Hamas? Qatar cannot and must not provide safe harbor to Hamas's top terrorist monsters and expect that the nation and people they terrorize -- Israel and the Jews -- will sit still for it. Qatar funds terrorism, it helped unleash 9/11 by protecting the would-be ringleader, it funds terror-supporting front groups in the United States and poisons our colleges and universities with their money. Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk has passed away after being assassinated at an event at Utah Valley University. It's a deeply sad and dark day. He was a young man with a wife and two baby girls. His only offense, apparently, was to engage and debate in a joyous way. He spent his life fighting for America and his legacy will never be silenced. The Charlie Kirk assassin is still at large, but the FBI is closing in. He will get caught and he needs to be put to death. This guy needs to pay the price, and the whole country needs to see it. Kirk was a genius who lived life fully, enjoyed debating opponents, and inspired young people in the liberty movement. Kirk is the quintessential American story of self-made success and will have an enduring legacy. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices
Questions are mounting about President Trump's decision to bomb a small boat in the Caribbean Sea, killing all 11 people on board. The administration says these were drug cartel members who posed a threat to the United States, but many legal experts have concluded the bombing might have been illegal or a war crime. And this saga just got darker. Senator Tim Kaine and two dozen other Democrats just released a powerful letter laying out tough questions for the administration. The letter demonstrates the weakness of Trump's legal case in a freshly vivid way. And a Senate staffer tells us Kaine reached out to numerous Republicans in hopes of getting them to sign the letter, but damningly, none would. Meanwhile, new reporting indicates that the boat might have been turning around before getting hit, making Trump's decision look even worse. We talked to Scott Anderson, senior editor at Lawfare and author of a great piece analyzing the strike. He demystifies the legal and substantive complexities, sheds light on how brazenly Trump is stretching the law, and discusses whether we'll ever learn what really happened. This is a four minute response to Senator Kaine’s comments about human rights that I pray honors God, and that Charlie Kirk would applaud. I recorded it earlier this week, but it seems appropriate today because the issue of rights will now swirl around Kirk’s work and assassination. It is what I would say if I were a United States senator having a platform to respond to the issue of rights. Query: Why do we think we have any rights?
“Our rights come from God our Creator not from our laws not from our governments”. Does this statement cause you to fear? That's what it evokes from U.S. Senator Tim Caine of Virginia and he said so out loud in the U.S. Senate. But doesn't the Declaration of Independence say that our rights come from God, not the government? We discuss Kaine's Blunder this week on The Public Square®. This episode was recorded before September 10th and before the murder of Charlie Kirk, on September 11. David Zanotti, Chairman of The American Policy Roundtable®, spoke of Mr. Kirk's murder on Your Morning Show with Michael DelGiorno. You can listen to all three hours of that broadcast by clicking HERE Topic: Our Mission The Public Square® Long Format with hosts Wayne Shepherd and Dave Zanotti. thepublicsquare.com Release Date: Friday, September 11th, 2025

This connects to the Declaration of Independence's principles. Kaine's view is stunning and representative of the Democrat position. Also, the Democrat Party has radicalized far beyond its base, leaving behind traditional Democrats like veterans, police, firefighters, and generational members who now form a minority. A recent Gallup poll, show that only 42% of Democrats view capitalism positively, while 66% favor socialism. This reflects the entire party, not just the base, as evidenced by elections of socialists in cities like New York and support for figures like AOC and Bernie Sanders. This Democratic radicalization is partly due to new immigrants from anti-capitalist societies. Later, Dr Zuhdi Jasser calls in to discuss his run for Arizona's 4th Congressional district. Jasser emphasized his commitment to service, love for America, and fighting against radical Islam, and far-left policies exploiting freedoms. Jasser would be a counter to progressive kooks like Rashida Tlaib and Ilhan Omar. Afterward, sanctuary states and cities are unconstitutional. America fought a civil war making that clear. States and cities cannot defy federal constitutional authority that is clearly granted to the national government -- the enforcement of federal immigration law. They cannot nullify federal law. The Dean's List with Host Dean Bowen – Sen Tim Kaine found it “extremely troubling” to hear a nominee for a federal post cite the Declaration of Independence, which claims that our rights are given by God, not governments. Kaine supposed that only a theocratic government — such as the one in Iran — would attribute the source of rights to God rather than the law. “The notion that rights don't...

This is Frank Gaffney with the Secure Freedom Minute. In a nomination hearing last week, Riley Barnes cited former Senator and Secretary of State Marco Rubio: “We are a nation founded on a powerful principle…that all men are created equal, because our rights come from God our Creator – not from our laws, not from our governments.” Democratic Senator Tim Kaine – evidently unaware that this principle was explicitly enshrined in the Declaration of Independence – found that statement “extremely troubling.” He declared, “The notion that rights don't come from laws and don't come from the government, but come from the Creator — that's what the Iranian government believes.” Yesterday, President Trump sharply repudiated Kaine, saying he “should be ashamed of himself.” He vowed, “Under the Trump administration, we're defending our rights and restoring our identity as a nation under God. We are one nation under God and we always will be.” Amen. This is Frank Gaffney.

Glenn reacts to Sen. Tim Kaine (D-Va.) saying that he finds it "troubling" that Americans believe our rights come from God and not the government. Glenn lays out how this belief is no different than sharia law and urges Sen. Kaine to learn the history of the Constitution. Does anybody on the Left care about the truth of America's history and values? The tragic murder of Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska on a train in Charlotte is the story the media wants you to ignore. Glenn lays out why we cannot let this story go unreported. The Dearborn Heights, Michigan, police department released an official police patch featuring Arabic text. Our Republic co-founder Justin Haskins joins to discuss the shocking number of Americans who want a socialist president in 2028. Glenn and Justin break down the real reason why the idea of a socialist president is gaining popularity. Glenn admits that both sides are correct when it comes to the current generation struggling to fulfill the American dream. Glenn discusses the inauthenticity of Las Vegas during a recent trip. It's Monday, September 8th, A.D. 2025. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 140 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Adam McManus Russian pastor sent to prison labor camp for sermon On September 3, Russian Pastor Nikolay Romanyuk, age 63, was found guilty of making “Public calls to implement activities directed against the security of the Russian Federation,” reports International Christian Concern. Despite the Russian pastor's age and poor health conditions, the court sentenced him to four years in a prison labor camp. In a statement before the court, Pastor Romanyuk said, “Yes, I gave a sermon in which I touched on military, albeit forced, murder. I do not retract what I said. I set forth my personal view and attitude towards the taking of a human life. This is my personal attitude as a clergyman.” Pastor Romanyuk gave his now-criminal sermon a week after Russia partially mobilized its forces against Ukraine in September 2022 at the Holy Trinity Pentecostal Church in a suburb of Moscow, Russia. From the pulpit, Romanyuk preached, “It was written in our [church] doctrine that we are pacifists and cannot participate in this. It is our right to profess this on the basis of Holy Scripture.” Svetlana Zhukova, Pastor Romanyuk's daughter, wrote on social media, “Imagine, Dad was convicted for his opinion, his position. There is no crime. Not a single person suffered from his actions. The state did not suffer at all.” Acts 5:29 says, “We must obey God rather than men.” Ted Cruz torches Tim Kaine for describing God-given rights as 'very, very troubling' Here in America, on September 3rd, the U.S. Foreign Relations Committee addressed the nomination of Riley Barnes to be Assistant Secretary of State for Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor. In response to Barnes' introductory statement before the committee, Democratic Senator Tim Kaine of Virginia objected to Barnes who underscored Secretary of State Marco Rubio's assertion that our rights come from God, not government, reports The Christian Post. Listen. KAINE: “This is a quote from Secretary Rubio, our rights come from God, our Creator, not from our laws, not from our governments. I find that very, very troubling. … “The notion that our rights do not come from our laws or our government should make people very, very nervous, because people of any religious tradition, or none, are entitled to the equal protection of the laws under the 14th Amendment. It shouldn't matter what their religious background is, what they think about God or the Creator, what their church affiliation is.” Republican Senator Ted Cruz of Texas, another member of the U.S. Foreign Relations Committee, took issue with Senator Kaine. CRUZ: “Senator Kaine said, in this hearing, that he found it a radical and dangerous notion that you would say, ‘Our rights came from God and not from government.' I just walked into the hearing as he was saying that and I almost fell out of my chair, because that ‘radical and dangerous notion,' in his words, is literally the founding principle upon which the United States of America was created. “And if you do not believe me, then you can believe perhaps the most prominent Virginian to ever serve, Thomas Jefferson, who wrote, in the Declaration of Independence, ‘We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, and that they are endowed by their Creator,' -- not by government, not by the Democratic National Committee, but by God, -- ‘with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.' “I have to say, it is stunning to me that the principle that God has given us natural rights is now deemed by Democrats some radical and dangerous notion. Mr. Jefferson was right when he wrote those words. Government exists to protect those rights.” Christian foster parents sue Massachusetts for requiring them to support ‘gender transitions' A pair of Christian foster families in Massachusetts is suing the state for barring them from fostering more children based on their refusal to affirm gender confusion among kids in their care, reports LifeSiteNews.com. Alliance Defending Freedom is representing Nick and Audrey Jones, who have cared for seven small children since 2023; and Greg and Marianelly Schrock, who have cared for 28 children since 2019. Despite both couples effectively providing needed, loving homes without incident, the Massachusetts Department of Children & Families decided they can no longer continue to do so unless they're willing to affirm the gender confusion of future kids placed with them, including support for so-called “gender transitioning” and the use of biologically inaccurate pronouns. Their attorneys said, what Massachusetts is doing “is a violation of foster parents' religious freedom under the First Amendment as well as a reckless rejection of needed homes for orphaned or abandoned children.” Matthew 18:6 says, “If anyone causes one of these little ones—those who believe in Me—to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea.” Jimmy Stewart's World War II heroism and his father's promise to pray And finally, do you recognize this voice? “Mary, I know what I'm gonna do tomorrow and the next day and next year, and the year after that. I'm shaking the dust of this crummy little town off my feet, and I'm gonna see the world: Italy, Greece, the Parthenon, the Colosseum. Then, I'm coming back here and go to college and see what they know. And then I'm gonna build things. I'm gonna build airfields, I'm gonna build skyscrapers a hundred stories high. I'm going to build bridges a mile long.” If you guessed Jimmy Stewart, you're right. He is the actor who famously portrayed George Bailey in the Christmas film “It's A Wonderful Life.” You'll be glad to know that Hollywood is now producing a movie about Stewart's life entitled “Jimmy” starring K.J. Apa, reports FaithWire.com. After earning five Oscars, Stewart felt somewhat of a “hollowness.” At that time in the early 1940s, the world's instability was coming to a head, with war clouds on the horizon. Stewart made a stunning decision. He had been a private pilot, but he decided to enlist in the Army Air Corps. He said, “I want to be something more than just a Tinseltown hero. I wanted to serve my country, serve my fellow Americans.” Stewart became a squadron commander — a job that involved leading thousands of men in bombing runs during the war. His father, Alexander, who will be portrayed by Neil McDonough, wrote a letter which he slipped into Jimmy's uniform pocket before he went and that included a copy of Psalm 91, a Scripture which underscores the Lord's comfort and presence. His dad wrote, “I will be praying for you the whole time you're away that God will be with you. You'll make it home safely.” Jimmy Stewart kept that letter with him in his uniform on every mission that he went on. Providentially, the actor did make it back home, though he suffered from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder after seeing hundreds of his men shot down and killed. By the time Stewart left the battlefield, he was far from the Hollywood leading man he was before fighting on the frontlines. An old friend named Frank Capra, a Hollywood director who also served in World War II, told Stewart he had the “perfect role” for him. It was “It's A Wonderful Life.” God used that film to re-energize Stewart's career. Alexander Stewart, his father, embodied the verse found in Malachi 4:6. “[God] will turn the hearts of the fathers to their children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers.” Close And that's The Worldview on this Monday, September 8th, in the year of our Lord 2025. Tim Kaine's Godless Rights Claim Destroyed: Divine Truth Exposed! In this explosive podcast, Lenny Esposito and Dr. Darren Guerra dismantle Sen. Tim Kaine's controversial dismissal of religion as the foundation of rights, contrasting it with the Declaration of Independence's divine endowment. They expose moral relativism's dangers, differentiate positive rights demanding labor from negative ones protecting freedoms like speech, and tackle abortion's personhood debate. Rooting rights in God's character and individual worth, they champion self-evident truths over government overreach, urging ordered liberty amid viral backlash to Kaine's claims.

This week on the Mark Levin Show, Democrats, the media, and some Republicans are portraying President Donald Trump as a threat to democracy and the Constitution, but it's the opposite. Democratic Congress members, isolationist fake MAGA figures, Marxists, and Islamists are plotting to destroy American principles and the country, while being promoted by left-wing corporate media. President Trump is taking decisive action on Russia and has made it clear he'll do even more if necessary—unlike the weak, inconsistent leadership we've seen from others. His foreign policy is firm and strategic, echoing the strength of President Reagan, and he's done more to support Ukraine and NATO than President Biden ever dared. It's shocking that Sen Tim Kaine's said that our rights come from government, which is a Marxist and buffoonish view. The Declaration of Independence's concept of unalienable rights from God is rooted in eternal truths and the Judeo-Christian tradition. Kaine rejects the American founding, which is based on divine sovereignty bestowed on individuals. Kaine's view is emblematic of the Democratic Party, which rejects America, embraces Marxism and Islamism, and supports initiatives like the 1619 Project. Learn more about your ad choices. Debate on the Source of Rights The episode opens with criticism of Democratic Senator Tim Kaine, who argued in a Senate hearing that constitutional rights come from the government rather than from God. Cruz frames this as a radical departure from America’s founding principles, citing the Declaration of Independence and Thomas Jefferson’s writings. The discussion emphasizes that if rights come from government, they can be taken away, whereas God-given rights are “unalienable.” Religion and the Democratic Party Cruz and Ferguson argue that the Democratic Party is increasingly hostile toward people of faith (Christian, Jewish, Catholic). They highlight responses from religious leaders, including Bishop Robert Barron, who strongly opposed Kaine’s remarks and defended the idea that rights come from God. Border Security and the Cartels The podcast shifts to the issue of border security and drug cartels, especially the Sinaloa cartel. They cite a DEA operation in New England that arrested 171 cartel members in one week, seizing fentanyl and counterfeit pills. Cruz and Ferguson warn about the danger of fentanyl-laced pills, especially for young people, describing it as a national epidemic and the leading cause of death among Americans aged 18–45. U.S. Government Action Against Cartels They discuss U.S. military and DEA efforts to combat cartels, including operations in Mexico, Venezuela, and the Caribbean. Cruz praises the government’s recent designation of cartels as terrorist organizations and the deployment of military assets to fight drug trafficking. Please Hit Subscribe to this podcast Right Now. On Thursday's Mark Levin Show, it's shocking that Sen Tim Kaine's said that our rights come from government, which is a Marxist and buffoonish view. Chapter 5 of On Power says that human rights, liberty, and equality are inherent, God-given through natural law, predating and transcending governments, as affirmed in the Declaration of Independence and echoed in state declarations like Virginia's. These views, shared by Founders such as Jefferson, Mason, Franklin, and Adams, emphasize governments' role in securing these unalienable rights via consent of the governed. In contrast, 19th-century philosophers like Hegel and Marx—influencing modern progressives, American Marxists, and figures like Woodrow Wilson—reject these principles, creating an irreconcilable clash of worldviews at the core of ongoing power struggles, where liberty depends on rights preceding government. Also, anonymous judges are complaining about the Supreme Court to NBC News. They say that the Court overturns lower rulings on Trump administration cases with insufficient explanations, undermining judicial integrity amid rising threats and criticisms from Trump allies. These judges are cowards and activists, and the NBC article is propaganda. Later, Robert Kennedy Jr. fought back in the latest hearing. Democrat Senators refused to let him answer a question. They hate him because he rejected them. Finally, Trey Gowdy calls in to discuss his new book, The Color of Death: A Novel. The story follows assistant DA Colm Truesdale, who, after losing his wife and daughter, becomes apathetic about life but excels in his prosecutorial role. Learn more about your ad choices. On today's show, Todd unpacks shocking remarks from Senator Tim Kaine during a Senate Foreign Relations Committee hearing, where Kaine claimed it was “very, very troubling” to say that our rights come from our Creator instead of government. Todd walks through why this is not only historically wrong but also dangerous to liberty itself. We revisit the words of Jefferson in the Declaration of Independence, examine the biblical foundation of unalienable rights, and contrast that with the radical left's godless ideology that sees government as the giver — and taker — of freedoms. Join Jim and Greg for the Thursday 3 Martini Lunch as they break down CBS reportedly bringing in Bari Weiss to have a huge role, Virginia Sen. Tim Kaine not knowing where our most basic rights come from, and reports that President Trump may try to narrow the field in the New York City mayor's race.First, they react to Paramount/CBS reportedly being on the verge of buying The Free Press for $100-$200 million and giving Free Press founder Bari Weiss a major role in news coverage. Weiss is most definitely not a conservative, but hiring a liberal who is not insane passes for somewhat refreshing in the media these days.Next, Sen. Kaine embarrasses himself and the Commonwealth of Virginia by claiming our rights come from the laws and the government and not from our Creator. A much more famous Virginian would beg to differ. And Jim has some other helpful tips for Sen. Kaine as well. Finally, they react to a New York Times report suggesting Trump administration officials may offer jobs to Curtis Sliwa and Mayor Eric Adams in an attempt to derail Zohran Mamdani in the New York City mayor's race. Jim and Greg don't see either candidate (especially Sliwa) taking such an offer and they don't think it would stop Mamdani either. Jim suggests a counterintuitive strategy if Trump really wants to shake things up.Please visit our great sponsors:No missed calls, no missed customers with OpenPhone. Oral Arguments for the Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit
Consumer Financial Protection Bureau v. Kaine Wen
In a recent candid conversation on 'The Valley Today,' host Janet Michael sat down with Chris Rucker, Chief Administrative Officer for Valley Health, to dissect the aftermath of recently passed legislation that could drastically alter healthcare dynamics in the community. The dialogue spanned a gamut of pressing concerns, from potential Medicaid and SNAP benefit cuts to the broader implications for the community's general well-being. To set the stage, Janet recapped the initial context of their prior discussion, which took place before the legislation had passed. Chris, anticipating widespread effects, emphasized concerns about continuing to meet the healthcare needs of the half-million people served by Valley Health's six hospitals and various clinics. Acknowledging the legislative passage, Chris explained that many regulatory details still need to be ironed out, from work requirements necessitating biannual employment proof to practical challenges for residents in rural areas like Romney, WV. A crucial point of Janet's inquiries revolved around the perceived immediacy of the bill's impact. Chris clarified that although the changes would phase in gradually, the community wouldn't see an overnight transformation. He stressed the importance of preparing thoughtfully for these eventual shifts rather than making hasty decisions. The conversation turned to the multi-faceted implications of healthcare funding cuts. Janet highlighted Valley Health's holistic approach, which not only addresses clinical care but also the social determinants of health, including adequate nutrition from SNAP benefits. Chris expanded on this perspective, linking reduced healthcare access to broader economic ramifications, from loss of construction jobs to the trickling down effects impacting local businesses. Janet's questions reflected community anxiety, particularly regarding potential hospital closures. Chris reassured listeners that while Valley Health remains committed to its mission, drastic measures like hospital closures are not on the immediate horizon. The emphasis, he said, was on adapting and finding sustainable ways to continue delivering care. Their discussion also illuminated the cascading effects of reduced Medicaid benefits on local employment and overall community health. For instance, Janet depicted a scenario in which a single mother, unable to access quick medical care, might miss multiple workdays, thereby affecting her income and ability to afford basic needs. In wrapping up on a hopeful note, Chris assured listeners of Valley Health's unwavering commitment to the community, backed by strategic foresight and operational resilience. Despite looming challenges, he reminded everyone of the ongoing, everyday successes, like the birth of healthy babies at the medical center. Janet concluded the session by urging the community to engage with their elected officials and local nonprofits, advocating for sustained healthcare access and support mechanisms. Their voices, she affirmed, remain potent tools in navigating these complex times. Join Jim and Greg for the 3 Martini Lunch as they highlight the Democrats' clumsy attempts to woo Gen Z men, the horrible records of leading NYC mayoral candidates towards the city's Jewish population, and Senate Democrats refusing to apologize for demonizing Special Counsel Robert Hur.First, Jim and Greg have a good laugh over reports that Democrats are spending millions trying to win back young men—especially after Gen Z males swung Republican more than expected in 2024. But instead of rethinking policies, Democrats are focusing on tone and messaging. Jim floats the idea of launching his own Gen Z initiative, mainly to fleece naive Democrat donors.Next, they slam the dismal choices facing New York City in the mayoral race, as Democrats with lousy records toward Jewish residents lead the pack. Jim and Greg discuss former GOP New York Lt. Gov. Betsy McCaughey's warnings about Andrew Cuomo's empty promises and Zohran Mamdani's poorly concealed hostility, leaving Jewish New Yorkers with little reason for optimism. Finally, they shake their heads in amusement as Democrat Senators Tina Smith and Tim Kaine say they will not apologize to former Special Counsel Robert Hur for publicly trashing him last year after Hur referred to President Biden as an elderly man with a poor memory. Even with the audio clearly vindicating Hur, the Democrats stand by their vicious statements. Please visit our great sponsors:Cut through political bias with Ground News's Vantage Plan—visit https://GroundNews.com/MARTINI to get 40% off for a limited time! It's free, online, and easy to start—no strings attached. In the midst of the terrible Trump tax bill moving through Congress, Ralph invites Sarah Anderson who directs the Global Economy Project at the Institute for Policy Studies to discuss the massive tax loopholes huge companies like Amazon get that allow them to pay far less in taxes than ordinary working people. Then, Greg LeRoy from Good Jobs First joins us to discuss how state taxpayers are footing the bill for these massive data centers companies like Google are building all over the country. Plus, Ralph has some choice words for passive unions and responds to listener feedback about our guest last week, Nadav Wieman.Sarah Anderson directs the Global Economy Project at the Institute for Policy Studies and is a co-editor of the IPS website Inequality.org. Her research covers a wide range of international and domestic economic issues, including inequality, CEO pay, taxes, labor, and Wall Street reform. They're (Congress is) planning to give huge new tax giveaways to large corporations like Amazon and wealthy people like Amazon founder Jeff Bezos. And partially paying for those tax cuts for the wealthy by slashing programs that mean so much to so many Americans like Medicaid and food assistance.”Sarah AndersonWe're not going to have a healthy, thriving society and economy as long as we have the extreme levels of inequality that we have today.Sarah AndersonDubbed “the leading national watchdog of state and local economic development subsidies,” “an encyclopedia of information regarding subsidies,” “God's witness to corporate welfare,” and “the OG of ensuring that state and local tax policy actually supports good jobs, sustainability, and equity,”* Greg founded Good Jobs First in 1998 upon winning the Public Interest Pioneer Award. He has trained and consulted for state and local governments, associations of public officials, labor-management committees, unions, community groups, tax and budget watchdogs, environmentalists, and smart growth advocates more than 30 years.Public education and public health are the two biggest losers in every state giving away money to data centers right now.Greg Le RoyWe know of no other form of state spending that is so out of control. Therefore, we recommend that states cancel their data center tax exemptions. Such subsidies are absolutely unnecessary for an extremely profitable industry dominated by some of the most valuable corporations on earth such as Amazon, Microsoft, Apple, Facebook, and Google.Good Jobs First report: “Cloudy With a Loss of Spending Control”They've (Congress has) known for years that the ordinary worker pays a higher tax rate than these loophole-ridden corporations.Ralph NaderIn my message to Trump, I ask him, "Why is he afraid of Netanyahu? And doesn't he want to come to the rescue of these innocent babies by saying, ‘Mr. Netanyahu, the taxpayers in this country are paying for thousands of trucks stalled at the border of Gaza full of medicine, food, water, electricity, fuel, and other critical necessities? We're going to put a little American flag on each one of these trucks, and don't you dare block them.'”…No answer.Ralph NaderNews 5/23/251. It seems as though the dam in Israeli politics against acknowledging the horrors in Gaza is beginning to break. In an interview with the BBC this week, former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert stated that what Israel "is currently doing in Gaza is very close to a war crime. Thousands of innocent Palestinians are being killed.” He went on to say, “the war has no objective and has no chance of achieving anything that could save the lives of the hostages.” These quotes come from the Jerusalem Post. And on May 21st, Haaretz reported that opposition party leader Yair Golan warned that Israel could become a “pariah state, like South Africa once was,” based on its actions in Gaza. Speaking a truth that American politicians appear incapable of articulating, he added, a “sane state does not wage war against civilians, does not kill babies as a hobby, and does not set goals for itself like the expulsion of a population.”2. Confirming this prognosis, the Cradle reports “The Israeli military has admitted that more than 80 percent of the people killed in the attacks on Gaza since Israel breached the ceasefire two months ago are…civilians.” This fact was confirmed by the IDF in response to a request from Hebrew magazine Hamakom, wherein “the military's spokesperson stated that 500 of the 2,780 killed in the Gaza Strip as of Tuesday are ‘terrorists.'” Leaving the remaining 2,280 people killed classified as “not suspected terrorists.” The Cradle compares this ratio, approximately 4.5 civilians killed for every combatant, to the Russia-Ukraine war – a ratio of approximate 2.8 to one. Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu has “claimed that the ratio is just one civilian killed for each combatant killed.” At the same time, AP reports that while Israel has allowed a minimum of humanitarian aid to enter Gaza, under immense international pressure, “none of that aid actually reached Palestinians,” according to the United Nations spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric. The renewed offensive coupled with the barring of humanitarian aid has raised the alarm about mass starvation in Gaza.3. Developments on the ground in Gaza have triggered a new wave of international outcry. On May 19th, leaders of the United Kingdom, France and Canada issued a joint statement, reading in part, “We strongly oppose the expansion of Israel's military operations in Gaza. The level of human suffering in Gaza is intolerable… The Israeli Government's denial of essential humanitarian assistance to the civilian population is unacceptable and risks breaching International Humanitarian Law…We will not stand by while the Netanyahu Government pursues these egregious actions. If Israel does not cease the renewed military offensive and lift its restrictions on humanitarian aid, we will take further concrete actions in response.” The Parliament of Spain meanwhile, “passed a non-binding motion calling on the government to impose an arms embargo on Israel,” per Anadolu Ajansı. This potential ban, supported by all parties except the conservative People's Party and the far-right Vox, would “ban the exports of any material that could strengthen the Israeli military, including helmets, vests, and fuel with potential military use.” Left-wing parties in Spain are now pushing for an emergency session to impose a binding decree to this effect.4. The United States however seems to be moving backwards. Drop Site news reports Trump's Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff made a deal with Hamas ensuring that, “the Trump administration would compel Israel to lift the Gaza blockade and allow humanitarian aid to enter the territory…[and] make a public call for an immediate ceasefire,” in exchange for the release of Edan Alexander. Of course, once Alexander was released Trump reneged completely. Basem Naim, a member of Hamas's political bureau, told Drop Site, “He did nothing of this…They didn't violate the deal. They threw it in the trash.” Besides prolonging further the charnel house in Gaza, this duplicity undermines American credibility in the region, particularly with Iran at a time when Trump is seeking a new deal to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons.5. Democrats in Congress are inching towards action as well. On May 13th, Senator Peter Welch introduced Senate Resolution 224, calling for “the urgent delivery of humanitarian aid to address the needs of civilians in Gaza.” Along with Welch, 45 Democrats and Independents signed on to this resolution, that is the entire Democratic caucus except for John Fetterman. On May 14th, Rashida Tlaib introduced House Resolution 409, commemorating the Nakba and calling on Congress to “reinstate support for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency, which provides life-saving humanitarian assistance to Palestinians.” This was cosponsored by AOC and Reps. Carson, Lee, Omar, Pressley, Ramirez, Simon, and Coleman. And, on May 21st, a group of eight senators – Welch, Sanders, Kaine, Merkley, Murray, Van Hollen, Schatz, and Warnock – sent a letter urging Secretary of State Rubio to reopen the investigation into the death of Palestinian-American journalist Shireen Abu-Akleh, per Prem Thakker. The Biden administration ruled the death “unintentional,” but a new documentary by Zeteo News reveals a “Biden cover-up.”6. More action is occurring on college campuses as well, as students go into graduation season. At NYU, a student named Logan Rozos said in his graduation speech, “As I search my heart today in addressing you all…the only thing that is appropriate to say in this time and to a group this large is a recognition of the atrocities currently happening in Palestine,” per CNN. NYU announced that they are now withholding his diploma. At George Washington University, the Guardian reports student Cecilia Culver said in her graduation speech, “I am ashamed to know my tuition [fee] is being used to fund…genocide…I call upon the class of 2025 to withhold donations and continue advocating for disclosure and divestment.” GWU issued a statement declaring Culver “has been barred from all GW's campuses and sponsored events elsewhere.” The moral clarity of these students is remarkable, given the increasingly harsh measures these schools have taken to silence those who speak up.7. Moving on, several major stories about the failing DOGE initiative have surfaced in recent days. First, Social Security. Listeners may recall that a DOGE engineer said “40% of phone calls made to [the Social Security Administration] to change direct deposit information come from fraudsters.” Yet, a new report by NextGov.com found that since DOGE mandated the SSA install new anti-fraud checks on claims made over the phone, “only two claims out of over 110,000 were found to likely be fraudulent,” or 0.0018%. What the policy has done however, is slow down payments. According to this piece, retirement claim processing is down 25%. Meanwhile, at the VA, DOGE engineer Sahil Lavingia, “found…a machine that largely functions, though it doesn't make decisions as fast as a startup might.” Lavingia added “honestly, it's kind of fine—because the government works. It's not as inefficient as I was expecting, to be honest. I was hoping for more easy wins.” This from Fast Company. Finally, CBS reports, “leaders of the United States Institute for Peace regained control of their offices Wednesday…after they were ejected from their positions by the Trump administration and [DOGE] in March.” This piece explains that On February 19th, President Trump issued Executive Order 14217 declaring USIP "unnecessary" and terminating its leadership, most of its 300 staff members, its entire board, installing a DOGE functionary at the top and transferring ownership of the building to the federal government. This set off a court battle that ended Monday, when U.S. District Judge Beryl Howell ruled that the takeover was “unlawful” and therefore “null and void.” These DOGE setbacks might help explain Elon Musk's reported retreat from the political spotlight and political spending.8. On May 21st, Congressman Gerry Connolly passed away, following his battle with esophageal cancer. Connolly's death however is just the latest in a disturbing trend – Ken Klippenstein reports, “Connolly joins five other members of Congress who also died in office over the past 13 months…Rep. Raúl Grijalva…Rep. Sylvester Turner…Rep. Bill Pascrell…Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee…[and] Rep. Donald Payne Jr.” All of these representatives were Democrats and their deaths have chipped away at the close margin between Democrats and Republicans in the House – allowing the Republicans to pass Trump's “Big Beautiful Bill” by a single vote. Connolly himself prevailed over AOC in a much-publicized intra-party battle for the Ranking Member seat on the House Oversight committee. It speaks volumes that Connolly was only able to hold onto that seat for a few short months before becoming too sick to stay on. This is of course part and parcel with the recent revelations about Biden's declining mental acuity during his presidency and the efforts to oust David Hogg from the DNC for backing primaries against what he calls “asleep-at-the-wheel” Democrats.9. Speaking of “asleep-at-the-wheel” Democrats, Bloomberg Government reports Senator John Fetterman “didn't attend a single committee hearing in 2025 until…May 8, about a week after an explosive New York Magazine story raised questions about his mental health and dedication to his job.” Fetterman, who represents Pennsylvania on the Commerce, Agriculture, and Homeland Security committees skipped the confirmation hearings for Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick and Budget Director Russ Vought, some of the most high-profile and controversial Trump appointments. Fetterman still has yet to attend a single Agriculture committee hearing in 2025.10. Finally, in more Pennsylvania news, the state held its Democratic primaries this week, yielding mixed results. In Pittsburgh, progressives suffered a setback with the ouster of Mayor Ed Gainey – the first Black mayor of the city. Gainey lost to Allegheny County Controller Corey O'Connor, the son of former Mayor Bob O'Connor, the Hill reports. In Philadelphia however, voters approved three ballot measures – including expanding affordable housing and adding more oversight to the prison system – and reelected for a third term progressive reform District Attorney Larry Krasner, per AP. Krasner has long been a target of conservatives in both parties, but has adroitly maneuvered to maintain his position – and dramatically reduced homicide rates in Philly. The Wall Street Journal reports Philadelphia homicides declined by 34% between 2023 and 2024, part of substantial decline in urban homicides nationwide. Kudos to Krasner. This has been Francesco DeSantis, with In Case You Haven't Heard. Get full access to Ralph Nader Radio Hour at www.ralphnaderradiohour.com/subscribe
