Today's guest is writer/director Natalia Leite. This director is one of the bravest filmmakers I've ever met. Her work on the VICE documentary ‘Life as a Truck-Stop Stripper was breathtaking. Not only did she direct the piece but one of the subjects in the film as well. Take a look below at her amazing work.Everyone knows what charming places strip clubs can be, but perhaps there is no club so charming as one in Moriarty, New Mexico—a truck stop with taxidermy and the bras of former employees on the walls, a few poles, a shitload of black light, and plenty of titties. Never mind that The Ultimate Strip Club List website describes it as the place “where strippers go to die.” Natalia Leite and Alexandra Roxo go Gonzo as they pose as strippers and experience something that can be best described as a Marina Abramovic performance crossed with a bizarro episode of Wife Swap directed by David Lynch's daughters, set in the type of place where a one-eyed guy who shot himself in the head dispenses meditation advice to two naked women.Natalia Leiteis a Brazilian writer/director. Her work has been described as having “a bracing, assertive style” (Variety), “emotional intelligence and sensitivity” (LA Times), and as “cementing the reign over highly stylized, sexually progressive dramas” (Slant). Her feature film “M.F.A.”, a psychological thriller centered around rape crimes in a university, premiered at SXSW 2017 and was nominated for a Grand Jury Prize. The film stars Francesca Eastwood and was released in theaters October 2017. Her feature film debut, “Bare,” premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2015, starring Dianna Agron. The film was released by IFC Films and Paramount Pictures. Natalia has created original content for Vice Media, most notably the provocative Vice show “Every Woman” which has garnered over 11 million views. She co-created and starred in the series “Be Here Nowish,” and has directed and shot documentaries internationally.Natalia is a contributing writer for Talk House and has been a featured speaker for NY Women In Film & Television, Apple Store Talks, IFP Filmmaker Conference, and numerous Universities. She also directs branded content for Vans, The North Face, Nasty Gal, and other companies. She recently signed with bicoastal production company Humble, her first commercial representation, and directs branded content for Vans, The North Face, and other companies.Enjoy my conversation with Natalia Leite.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/bulletproof-screenwriting-podcast--2881148/support.
In this powerful episode, David Chambers sits down with men's leadership expert Peter to unpack the hidden reasons why so many men feel disconnected, lost, and stuck in their lives, relationships, and careers. We dive deep into the father wound, mother wound, and how childhood conditioning silently blocks men from accessing true power and emotional confidence. Peter shares his own story of transformation — from self-medicating and emotional suppression to becoming a leader who helps men reclaim their purpose, presence, and self-expression. Peter Eugène Bennett, Born in London, grown in Bangladesh, raised in Glastonbury - my multicultural upbringing taught me to navigate different worlds. Through personal struggles with family tragedy and my own journey with burnout, I discovered that our deepest wounds often become our greatest gifts. I never faced my own shadows of self-doubt, self-harm and self-hate. I hid the pain, suppressing emotions through various escapes, until a near-fatal street fight and arrest became my wake-up call. Yet with struggle comes freedom. I was stuck in my head, and now guide others back home to their hearts. For those who sense there's more to life and are ready to take the leap - I invite you to discover your full expression. My superpower is authenticity. From living with Shipibos in the Amazon to training in Flowstate, each experience has deepened my initiation into leadership. With a colourful 10+ year career in fast paced and creative roles, I found success as a TV presenter, “won” 3 dating shows and worked with brands such as MTV, Vice Media and TimeOut - still my heart yearned for more.. Everything changed when I attended my first men's circle in 2019. Recognising the profound impact of this work, I trained as a facilitator and began leading my own groups, witnessing the power of connection. Now, as Director of Sacred Sons Europe, I guide transformational experiences across the world, whilst offering 1-2-1 coaching and conscious leadership and wellbeing consultancy. You're probably not seeing the world for what it really is. Your beliefs about truth, politics, and even chaos itself are all being challenged by the way information is being disseminated today. Proud Boys - Who are they? What do they want?Mar 21, 2023Ed Opperman interviews 'former Proud Boy' about the group, it's ethos and exactly why they are such a threat to the way of life in America. From wikipediaThe Proud Boys is an exclusively male North American far-right neo-fascist organization that promotes and engages in political violence in the United States. It has been called a street gang and was designated as a terrorist group in Canada and New Zealand. The Proud Boys are known for their opposition to left-wing and progressive groups and their support for former U.S. President Donald Trump. The group originated in the far-right Taki's Magazine in 2016 under the leadership of Vice Media co-founder and former commentator Gavin McInnes, taking its name from the song "Proud of Your Boy" from the 2011 Disney musical Aladdin.Although the Proud Boys initially emerged as part of the alt-right, McInnes distanced himself from this movement in early 2017, saying the Proud Boys were alt-lite while the alt-right's focus was on race. Donald Trump's comment, "Proud Boys, stand back and stand by," during the October 2020 presidential debates are credited with greatly increasing interest and recruitment. Enrique Tarrio, an Afro-Cuban Cuban-American, has been the chairman of the Proud Boys since late 2018. According to a former federal prosecutor and the transcripts of a 2014 federal court proceeding, Tarrio had previously served as an informant to both federal and local law enforcement.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-opperman-report--1198501/support.

The capacity to establish empathic connections with others—to feel with them, showing concern for their welfare, and demonstrating compassion—is critical in our lives. Yet several studies show that there's less empathy in the world than previous decades. But, my guest, Michael Tennant, believes that learning to care more about each other is a skill that all of us can learn and master. Today, he'll share more about the power of empathy to inspire personal growth and social change. Michael Tennant, is an award-winning media, advertising, and nonprofit veteran for companies like MTV, VICE Media, P&G, Coca-Cola, and Google. In the 2000s, he sat front seat to the rise of VICE, today's leading voice in millennial media, and brought with him a dedicated approach to long-term authentic community building. He is also the Founder, and CEO of Curiosity Lab, a purpose driven venture studio and consultancy that builds products and experiences that teach empathy. During our conversation, Michael describes what it means to be an empathetic person and how we can infuse compassion into everything that we do, both in our personal and professional life. He shares some techniques and actionable frameworks that will transform these values into a consistent day-to-day practice.
Today's episode is Part Two of our conversation with Nic McKinley, an entrepreneur, former military special operator, and ex-CIA operative who led two multimillion-dollar tech companies. We pick up our dialogue about human trafficking in the United States, and the role of DeliverFund, a non-profit he founded and led, which delivers data and technology to law enforcement, working with more than 500 agencies, and enabling them to take down the traffickers. We examine the role pornography plays in the trafficking process, and Nic asks: "How can men be better men?" Despite being dubbed “The Real Jack Ryan” by VICE Media, Nic tells Liss 'N Kristi his most important role is as a husband and father leading his family in a life of service and adventure in Montana. When he is not in his office, he can be found on a lake, on the ski slopes, camping, climbing vertical rock or ice in the mountains, with his nose in a book learning something new, or spending downtime with his wife, Danielle. Today we're talking about Vice, the media company: Where it came from, what it did, and, ultimately, why it collapsed into a much smaller, sadder version of itself. This is a lousy time for digital media, and it's hard to make a profit from putting words on the internet right now. So when Verge senior reporter Liz Lopatto went to go report on what happened, she and I both assumed Vice had been done in by the brutal economics of digital advertising on the web. But the Vice story is more than that — in the word of one executive that talked to Liz, it was a “fucking clown show.” Links: How Vice became 'a fucking clown show' — The Verge Vice is abandoning Vice.com and laying off hundreds — The Verge Vice, decayed digital colossus, files for bankruptcy — NYT Vice Is Basically Dead — New York Magazine Shane Smith and the Final Collapse of Vice News — The Hollywood Reporter At Vice, cutting-edge media and allegations of old-school sexual harassment — NYT HBO cancels ‘Vice News Tonight,' severing relationship with Vice Media — CNN Shane Smith has a secret multimillion-dollar Vice deal — New York Magazine Credits: Decoder is a production of The Verge, and part of the Vox Media Podcast Network. Today's episode is sponsored by BetterHelp. Just in case you're thinking about joining that incredible business opportunity selling a life changing product…don't give them your credit card info until you've listened to this A Little Bit Culty remix. We've put together a special Anti-MLM 101 Starter Kit episode with some of our favorite crusaders in the war on schemes, scams, and other internet flim-flams especially for you. Our upline on this one is pretty solid. We dug into our archives and Roberta Blevins came out swinging, so a segment from our Season 2 episode with the LuLa Rich fan fave is at the top of the batting list. She chats with us about the dangers of moldy leggings, #bossbabe energy, pricey sea cruises, other MLM tomfoolery. After Roberta, we move on to a clip from our more recent episode with Emily Lynn Paulson, an author and mother who believes that all MLMs—which form a $180 billion industry—are cults. Spoiler alert: We violently agree. And last but not least, we go all the way back to our Season 1 chat with Douglas Brooks, an attorney and MLM-buster with insights on what it takes to seek justice for people who've been screwed over. Take heart: When prosperity gospel grifters write big checks that their sneaky asses can't cash, there can be legal consequences. NOTES: Roberta Blevins was a Trainer with LuLaRoe, had a team of 75 women under her, and made over $65,000 in bonuses alone. But when she came to the conclusion that it was a rigged, losing game she didn't just leave the business: she testified in the Washington State vs. LuLaRoe Pyramid Scheme lawsuit as a witness for the state. Since leaving MLM, the fan favorite from the LuLaRich series has educated herself on the systemic structure of the business model, the psychological manipulation, the seedy underbelly and governmental ties, the cult indoctrination, and the history of Multi Level Marketing. She educates daily on TikTok, and podcasts in her "free time" on her own podcast, Life After MLM, which explores the dangers of Multi Level Marketing through the eyes of the victims and survivors. Her work has been featured on Amazon Prime Video, Vice Media, Bloomberg News, Split, and Business Insider among others. Learn more on her website or find her on Instagram @therealrobertablevins Emily Lynn Paulson is the author of Highlight Real: Finding Honesty and Recovery Beyond the Filtered Life, and Hey, Hun: Sales, Sisterhood, Supremacy, and the Other Lies Behind Multilevel Marketing. She has given two powerful TEDx talks, both challenging the status quo of parenting, alcohol use, and feminism as we know it. Paulson has also been featured in major publications such as the Today Show, New York Times, Washington Post, The Seattle Times, Chicago Tribune, Next Question with Katie Couric, and the Tamron Hall Show. She resides in Central Oregon with her husband and their five children.
