The Jalen Ramsey trade proves how desperate the Los Angeles Rams are this season. Meanwhile, the Jacksonville Jaguars were ten minutes away from a Super Bowl and now they’re a team in disrepair. Who refs the referees? As bad officiating has plagued the NFL this season, the issue highlights how NFL referees lack leadership. The Tennessee Titans have officially bench Marcus Mariota, the stingy Oakland Raiders face a tough Green Bay Packers team, and the Chicago Bears still can’t evaluate their quarterback. We start off the podcast with a quick recap of the Titans game. Even though they won, Drew still thinks this team is "decidedly mediocre." We discuss once again the need to get to the bottom of why NFL referees are calling so many penalties. It's starting to affect Drew's health and happiness! In part two of our Mark Schlereth interview, we learn how this former NFL player made his way into TV, radio, and as an actor on a soap opera. Mark also vents about NFL referees and people's perception of the danger of football. We also dive into the story of Washington Nationals pitcher Daniel Hudson and why people were so upset he missed a game to be at the birth of his third child. Rubbish, we say to that. And finally, we wrap the podcast up with a look around the MLB playoffs. To contact Julie and Drew directly, just go to thedrewgoodmanpodcast.com and go to the "contact" page. Offensive Interference Podcast - Episode 8 - Era of the Black QB - What QBs in College Football are Next - The Ineffectiveness of the NFL Referees ...and MORE
A couple of weeks before the start of the 2019-20 NBA regular season, the league finds itself involved in a controversy with China stemming from a now-deleted tweet from Houston Rockets general manager Daryl Morey. In the tweet, Morey gave a message of support to protesters in Hong Kong who are currently involved in demonstrations that began in opposition to controversial proposed legislation.Morey's tweet was met with considerable backlash from Chinese authorities, while several different parties, including NBA commissioner Adam Silver, have weighed in on the issue. The latest to add his voice to the conversation is none other than LeBron James. The timeline of events has been lengthy. Below is a rundown of how we got from Morey's tweet to the current situation between China and the NBA along with the latest on this constantly evolving situation. Then this mess with the NFL; We are being reminded on Every Given Sunday, and most recently on Any Given Monday night, that someone needs to throw the flag on officiating in the NFL before the public trust is destroyed. No one, least of all the zebras, seems to know what pass interference is anymore, and we watched the Lions get robbed in Green Bay because the men in stripes twice called hands to the face penalties against DE Trey Flowers when a national television audience could see, with or without replay, how blatantly wrong they were. And there were other calls that screwed the Lions. To err is human, but never have NFL officials appeared this human.Advances in technology over the years have upped the urgency to get the calls right, yet coach’s pass interference challenges are ignored even when the call begs to be overturned. Clear and obvious visual evidence has apparently not been clear and obvious to the officials. Or to senior VP of officiating Al Riveron, who from his New York command center persists in subscribing to the nothing-to-see-here theory.----Enjoy the episode today!!----To share your thoughts:Leave a comment on Twitter, Instagram or Facebook. Dr. Jim Tunney, Dean of the NFL Referees and recent recipient of the prestigious Art McNally Award joins Denise Griffitts to discuss leadership. Jim Tunney’s career in the NFL is exactly that - exemplary. He was the on-field official for 31 years and was given the title of “Dean of Officials.” He was the referee in three Super Bowls (VI – XI – Xii). His back-to-back Super Bowls have never been equaled. Further, he received 29 post-season assignments (out of a possible 31); ten championship games; six Pro Bowl assignments and a record 25 Monday Night Football games, when MNF was the game of the week. Because of his posture for signals on the field, he was the model for officials' signals in every game-day program for 19 years. His educational career took him to the University of Southern California where he completed his Master’s in Education and followed that by earning his Doctorate in Education (Ed.D.) Jim is a professional speaker and speaks to Fortune 500 companies, large and small corporations and associations on topics of leadership, team building, integrity, and customer service. He joined the National Speakers Association and has served on its’ board of directors and elevated to president. He was inducted into NSA’s Speaker Hall of Fame and holds every designation and award given by that association, including the Cavett, the “Oscar” of professional speaking. We also get into how bad the offensive line play has been in the NFL and how it has affected some teams in the NFL. Don’t worry, we talk about the dumpster fires that are the Buffalo Bills, Miami Dolphins and the Cleveland Browns as well; along with some fantasy football talk. This week on Liberal Dan Radio I will be discussing the undecided voter. They have been the subject of ridicule this week by both Saturday Night Live and Real Time with Bill Maher. But who are these voters? Are they lazy or uninformed like the comedy shows have asserted? Or do they have real concerns that have not been answered yet? Have they ruled out any canddidates? Are they leaning towards any candidate? If you are one, I would like to hear from you. I will also be discussing the current craziness going on in the NFL with their replacement referees. How is the NFL's inability to reach a compromise with the Refs hurting the game and how does this labor struggle compare with other labor struggles? Finally, Liberal Dan Radio will be bringing on a new advertiser: Coolminiornot.com

Regarded as the "Dean of NFL Referees", Jim Tunney's 31-year NFL career has earned him a nomination for the Pro Football Hall of Fame, 2012 Class. As a National Football League Referee for over a 30+ year tenure, his approach to making their crew (T.E.A.M.) the best it could be was by building chemistry among the crew. He was also privileged to be on the field to observe the T.E.A.M. building philosophies of legendary NFL Coaches Don Shula, John Madden, Vince Lombardi, George Halas, Chuck Noll, as well as many others. Jim was on the field for 3 NFL Superbowl's, 2 of them back-to-back. Involved in leadership all his life, Jim has a core belief that leadership is more about responsibility than ability. Honesty, creating a positive climate, and trusting people are the important character traits of a leader. All too often, unfortunately, people with those strengths lack the courage or initiative to “step up.” Jim's career has not only played the role of an NFL referee in his life. He is at heart, an educator, a success trainer and now a well known speaker and author. Jim is an accomplished speaker having won The Cavett Award, the "Oscar" of professional speaking. It is presented annually to the professional speaker whose career has earned "outstanding credit, respect, honor and admiration in the National Speakers Association and the speaking profession." A past president of the National Speakers Association, he is a charter member of its most prestigious group — the CPAE Speaker Hall of Fame — and holds every professional designation of the NSA. He has worked with major corporations and associations all over the world to build teams, set effective goals, and increase productivity. http://JimTunney.com We appreciate you tuning in to this episode of Your Partner In Success Radio with Host Denise Griffitts.
