Big NFL contracts being signedSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
The Word of the Day is Underestimated (0:00-13:03) The team expresses satisfaction regarding the re-signing of linebacker Zack Baun by the Eagles, acknowledging that he has received the compensation he rightfully deserves. Additionally, there are disparaging remarks directed at Josh Sweat and Milton Williams, suggesting that their success is primarily attributed to their association with Jalen Carter. (13:03-21:03) Zack Baun found himself in a favorable position regarding the Eagles, as Nakobe Dean's injury and Oren Burks' impending free agency provided him with a significant advantage. This represents a crucial opportunity for Baun to secure a substantial contract, making his return for the next season particularly advantageous. According to Ricky, possessing such leverage during contract negotiations is a dream scenario for any player. (21:03-32:38) Tyrone is quite wary of relying on the younger players to fill the roles of Sweat and Williams. Their inexperience raises concerns about their trustworthiness, indicating that they require additional time for development. He would consider resigning Javon Hargrave should the 49ers decide to release him. (32:38-40:49) It is possible that individuals are expressing negative opinions about Williams and Sweat as a means of coping with their departure as free agents. Previously, both players received considerable admiration, yet public sentiment appears to be shifting. We were talking about the NFL and somehow got on Puka Nacua being unstoppable. We also talked about Tee Higgins and contracts for wide receivers. Boomer said Tee Higgins should sign elsewhere for more money and Davante Adams should go to the Bengals. Many Jets players were checked out during the Bills game from Sunday. Gio said Aaron Rodgers is more of a symbol than a quarterback at this point and he has to go. The Jets are interviewing Ron Rivera today and Gio said they can't hire a head coach before hiring a GM. Mike Vrabel seems to want the Patriots job. Boomer sees Ben Johnson going to the Bears. Gio has had enough of the Ben Johnson tongue bathing. C-Lo returns for an update, but first Jerry Recco called in. C-Lo starts with a montage of Mike Breen calls from the Knicks win over Utah. We heard sound from some of the college football games from yesterday. The Eagles are resting players against the Giants. Boomer wonders if Saquon is a gold jacket guy because of this season. Aaron Rodgers talked about needing a mental break after the season. In the final segment of the hour, Gio said January 2nd is normally the worst day of the year. Boomer said a polar vortex is coming. We talked about the NFL MVP race and Sam Darnold. And the Vikings are still likely to let him go instead of paying him big money.

The Olympics are in full swing and the US leads the world in medals by a large margin. Of course we focus the most on our basketball team. They are destroying everyone and eyeing the gold medal. NFL contracts are getting out of hand. Guys who do not deserve to be the highest paid are getting these contracts. We dive into our thoughts on these contracts, mainly Jordan Love.
Dave Helman returns to cover the hottest training camp storylines and the NFL's riskiest contracts handed out this offseason. To start, Dave talks through the most important reports coming out of training camps from around the league, including injuries to Justin Herbert, Puka Nacua, and Russell Wilson, plus the intriguing quarterback battle in New England and a handful of wide receivers holding out for new contracts. Will the San Francisco 49ers trade star wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk? Then, Ben Arthur joins Dave to discuss the riskiest contracts signed this offseason, hitting on Packers quarterback Jordan Love, Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence, Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, and Falcons signal-caller Kirk Cousins. Will any or all of these teams regret awarding these big deals? Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
In today's Sports Hangover update, Chris covers the latest from the Paris 2024 Olympics as Simone Biles leads Team USA to a gold medal in artistic gymnastics. The NFL sees major moves with DJ Moore's massive extension with the Chicago Bears and Matthew Stafford's restructured contract with the LA Rams. Kevin Durant shines off the bench for Team USA in basketball, while Ireland's Daniel Wiffen claims victory in the 800m freestyle. Plus, the New York Giants shake things up in the NFL with a surprising addition to their roster. Tune in for all the juicy details!
Would someone please explain to me how Jordan Love is the highest paid QB in the NFL at an average of $55 million a year? He got paid based on a very good half of a season. Good for him, but the salary structure in the NFL is messed up! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
Tua Tagovailoa and Jordan Love received massive extensions over the weekend. Dak Prescott is next in line for an extension and the Cowboys have no choice but to pay him. Patrick Mahomes is now underpaid. Gio is already sick of training camp highlights videos. Boomer is amazed by how much the Giants have allowed to be shown in Hard Knocks. We saw Brian Daboll say he would trade up for a QB. Boomer says if that were him, his relationship with his head coach would be strained. Daniel Jones can't trust anyone left in that building. Gio points out he hasn't earned their trust. Gio wonders about Dave Gettleman's process that led him to Kadarius Toney after seeing how thorough Joe Schoen and Brian Daboll were this year. Gio also wants to know what the Giants thought of Michael Penix. Jerry is back for an update but first we ask if people really believe Sal mushed the Mets. The Mets lost their second straight to the Braves and Ryne Stanek had a rough debut. Jazz Chisholm enjoyed his first Yankees/Red Sox experience and playing in front of a big crowd. Giancarlo Stanton could return tonight. Tua got his massive extension, Jerry Jones had a rough press conference and Boomer was not duped by AI Mike McDaniel. Team USA blew out Serbia while Jayson Tatum didn't play because of “matchups”. A local olympian has a day job. In the final segment of the hour, Boomer expects David Stearns to continue “churning and burning” before the trade deadline. Boomer still feels the Yankees are on their way to the World Series. Who will sit when Stanton returns? How will the Yankees configure their lineup? Gio tells Boomer about how awful it was golfing with Stugotz.
In the first hour of the Chase & Big Joe Show, they guys discussed the big contracts across the NFL. Is Tua Tagovailoa worth all the penny with the Dolphins? What about Jordan Love? Are these two QBs worth the money? What about Will Levis? Should the Titans invest more in Will Levis? Is this season going to be difficult for the front office to make a contract decision? Later in the hour, Chase and Big Joe discussed the Summer Olympics. Are you watching?
In the second hour of Willy and D-Mase, the guys discussed the BIG NFL Contracts that were signed this past weekend. Have the Dolphins and Packers overpaid for their QBs? Let us know. What could that mean for Will Levis? Should the Titans invest in Will Levis for years to come? Let us know. Listen to hear more.

Boomer thinks the Giants are a better team this year but there are people on the hot seat. Also, Caleb Williams and his agents tried to get creative with his rookie contract. If the NFL does go to an 18 game regular season, the players will have to get something back.
A conversation between Joe Scheon and Dan Morgan on Hard Knocks led Gio to wonder if Schoen and Brian Daboll are on the hot seat this season. Boomer thinks the offseason version of Hard Knocks was a compromise between the team and league. The NFL wanted the Giants on the training camp version of Hard Knocks but the Giants did not want to do it. Caleb Williams and his agents tried to get creative with his rookie contract. If the NFL does go to an 18 game regular season, the players will have to get something back. Jerry returns for his final update of the day but first Gio and Boomer say how happy it makes them to see Marc Malusis. Moose lights up a room. How much do big mascots make? There are no excuses for Team USA at the Olympics. The Moment of The Day involves Chris Russo telling Paul Finebaum all about the history of USC football. In the final segment of the day, Boomer and Gio discuss the report that the Jets reached out to Arthur Smith to help run their offense. How annoyed are they by the perception that Aaron Rodgers can do whatever he wants? Mrs. Met is Evan's hall pass.
In today's episode of The Sports Hangover Daily, Chris brings you the latest updates from the world of sports. Tune in to hear about the New England Patriots' new deal with linebacker Jahlani Tavai and Colts wide receiver Alec Pierce's mission to prove his versatility. The first segment on my show was me and Vaughn going over the NBA playoffs getting his spin on it and how he thinks its going to play out. Then our second segment was me going and him going over what's happening with these big name NFL players that mean so much to their teams sitting out voluntary workouts this off season and threatening to miss OTAs as well. Then finally talked a little but about how their is little no diversity in the NFL when it comes to the ownership of teams something needs to change.
Monday's show begins with a celebration of football and track.
Boomer and Jerry begin a busy day with reaction to the Jets signing WR Mike Williams. Jerry is fawning over the move while Boomer is approaching it with more caution. Both Williams and Tyron Smith have injury concerns. Boomer says if the Jets are healthy they have done enough to pass the Bills and Dolphins. The Jets used the cap savings from not signing Bryce Huff to make these moves. He adds that the Jets are counting on players who have been injured but it's the right move with the team they have. Jerry says the Jets are all-in and can beat anybody. The 10th pick is now a “luxury pick”. Boomer says most NFL people think Zach Wilson will end up in San Francisco. C-Lo is here for his first update and Jerry is locked into the Dodgers vs Padres season-opening game in South Korea. Jerry has made his first wager of the season and will root for a Jason Heyward HR in this game. Garrett Wilson seems excited about the Jets signing Mike Williams. Saquon Barkley going to the Eagles is better for everybody. NFL contracts are fugazi with the guarantees and players deserve more money with how demanding the game is on their bodies. The Jets embraced the sandwich sent by a fan that CLo mentioned yesterday and Mike Williams took a bite on video. The Giants hosted JJ McCarthy last week. Wagner won their first-ever NCAA Tournament game with only 7 healthy players. Virginia was blown out by Colorado State after the selection committee took a lot of criticism for putting them in. In the final segment of the hour, Jerry asks Boomer if there are any teams the Jets can't beat.
