A new analysis argues the Royal Family is carrying out far fewer official engagements even as taxpayer funding rises to record levels. We examine the numbers, Norman Baker's criticism of Prince William's workload, and the Palace's argument that modern royal work is about long-term impact rather than ribbon cuttings. Then, former Archewell executive James Holt offers glowing praise for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle as he prepares to leave the organization. We also look at fresh tabloid reports claiming Harry is uneasy about Meghan's renewed friendship with Kris Jenner, and another round of speculation over whether the Sussexes' increasingly separate professional lives are fueling new rumors about their marriage.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/palace-intrigue-king-charles-meghan-markle-and-all-the-royal-family-gossip--4522904/support.Palace Intrigue is a daily British royal family podcast covering King Charles, Meghan Markle, Prince Harry, Kate Middleton and the House of Windsor. Summary In the final episode with Wade, Todd, and David, the conversation shifts from philosophy to history and mentorship. Wade asks what has changed in the financial industry over the past several decades and what hasn't. Todd reflects on the early days before computers, the impact of mentors like Norman Baker, the myth of "deals" in insurance, and the importance of integrating tools—not replacing human judgment with them. The discussion highlights why math must be paired with context, conversation, and strategy in order to truly serve clients. In this episode of Lurk, we travel to the historic—and notoriously haunted—Crescent Hotel in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Perched high in the Ozark Mountains, this grand Victorian structure has been many things over the past century: a luxury resort, an elite girls' school, and most infamously, a fraudulent cancer hospital run by the charismatic con man Norman Baker. Its long and troubled history has left behind more than just stories—it's said to be one of the most haunted hotels in America. We dive into the hotel's tragic past, exploring the legends and documented history that shaped its reputation. You'll hear about:Michael, the Irish stonemason who fell to his death during construction and still roams Room 218.The spirit of a young woman in white, believed to have been a student during the hotel's boarding school days.Ghostly nurses, mysterious figures in mirrors, and unexplained footsteps echoing through the old hospital wings. The chilling legacy of Dr. Norman Baker, whose “hospital” led to countless deaths—and whose former morgue remains a hotspot of strange activity.Through eyewitness accounts, historical details, and the hotel's most unsettling paranormal encounters, we uncover why the Crescent continues to draw ghost hunters, historians, and the curious from all over the world. If you've ever wondered what lingers in the halls of the Crescent Hotel after the sun sets over the Ozarks, this is an episode you won't want to miss.Subscribe & Follow:Don't miss future episodes of Lurk! In today's Sky News Daily, Gareth Barlow is joined by our royal correspondent Rhiannon Mills to dig into the figures. Plus, Gareth speaks to former Lib Dem MP and author of And What Do You Do? Norman Baker – The strange death of David Kelly...with TRE's Giles Brown
Norman Baker was an entrepreneur, a pioneering radio personality, and a fake doctor. He was a masterful propagandist, and through his radio station and multiple tabloid publications, he manipulated American anxieties about everything from politics to alleged ills of vaccinations. But his biggest claim was that he could cure cancer, in just six weeks, with his own elixir -- and your money.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Sara and Danny cover the story of Norman Baker, the magician who later claimed to have the cure for cancer. They start off by exploring his background as a vaudeville performer, inventor, and tramp machinist (yes, that's a real profession). They talk about his time as the original Joe Rogan hosting his own radio broadcasting show called KTNT “Know The Naked Truth” - if only he was born 98 years later. Finally they chat about how he secured fame as well as state and federal prison terms by promoting a supposed cure for cancer. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

The opulent Crescent Hotel, built from natural limestone along the Eureka Springs healing water was a vacationers dream through it's life in the 1800's. Though it closed down it always seemed to prevail but have you heard of it's dark history? From construction accidents and suicide. To the many patients that died there under the care of Norman Baker when he bought it for his medical clinic where he claimed to cure cancer. My first interview with Yogi has been my most downloaded and listened to podcast so far. It resonated with so many different people and received so much positive feedback I was excited that he agreed to do a part two. In this episode I talk with Yogi about some of the most influential people from my youth that came from Highland Park such as Ricky Williams, Charles Steel, Titus Fisher as well as others. Highland Park was the name of the local recreation center that served as the hub for everyone who grew up in East Dago ( City Heights). We would meet there for everything from playing carroms, ping-pong, strike-out, basketball in the cage, tackle football, dice games to the legendary blues brothers setting up their turntables and playing music in the summertime. We also broaden our discussion to include some of the legends from other neighborhoods throughout the San Diego area. Yogi's impressive basketball career at Hoover High led him to friendships with many of the other great San Diego athletes like, Percy Gilbert, Carl Fisher, Tyrone Miller, Lawrence West, Norman Baker, Sleepy Caldwell and many others. Since some of these stories and memories took place nearly 40 plus years ago there were a couple of details that I'd like to correct. Percy Gilbert is 5 years older than Yogi, not 5 years younger. And his Hoover High teammate's name was Mike Hyatt not Mike Haupt.
Today's episode is a special one because it's our 100TH EPISODE! We couldn't have made it here without all of our listeners and supporters, so to show our thanks we're giving you two stories today. First, Kelli shares the story of one the worst child killers in America's history, Albert Fish. Albert claims to have tortured and murdered hundreds of children, and while only three of those murders were proven, they were three of the most gruesome crimes against children. Then, Amelia tells us the history of one of America's most haunted hotels, the Crescent Hotel. Norman Baker bought the run down hotel in 1937 and turned it into a hospital. After being sent to prison for mail fraud, the hospital was left abandoned for years. It's now a fully functioning hotel and spa, but you may run into a ghost or two during your stay.
Life calls to people. Life will persist until there are no more options. This was the sweet spot that Norman Baker preyed upon. Those who were desperate. Those willing to believe in miracles. Those willing to pay for a miracle of their own. Meet the man who was paid millions of dollars to assist those fighting for their life… to reach the end of their battle in a slow and painful as he looked on. “Soul of the Hurricane: The Perfect Storm and an Accidental Sailor” is a true story that begins with an unexpected invitation to transport a Norwegian schooner from Brooklyn to Bermuda but ends with a Coast Guard helicopter rescue in the dead of night. It was October 1991 and the ship was Anne Kristine, the oldest continuously sailing vessel in the world. What awaited them was Hurricane Grace, the southern end of what came to be known as the “Perfect Storm.” This Episode features Nelson Simon, survivor and author of the book, “Soul of the Hurricane: The Perfect Storm and an Accidental Sailor.”
This week we go back in time to explore the very mysterious history of Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Situated in the Ozark Mountains and built around a natural spring, the town grew from a (likely fictional) legend of a Sioux princess who lost her sight, only to have her eyes healed by the spring water. Eventually the spring was discovered by white settlers, which of course led immediately to the monetization of the water's magical properties. This tale takes a lot of sharp twists and turns as we follow the construction of a luxurious hotel for all the tourists flocking to get in on the magic, and learn about the many functions of the hotel over the years. From a women's college, to a phony cancer center (complete with a morgue!), we'll find out about the ghostly residents whose spirits are still roaming the halls of the building over a century later. We end the episode with some delicious sugar cookies made by Elise! Happy Haunting!

Norman Baker, described by our host, professor Nutt, as “the first and last truly honest politician” is a Liberal Democrat and former MP for Lewes in East Sussex. Following three years as Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State in the Department of Transport he was promoted to Minister of State at the Home Office in 2013. However, rejection of many of his progressive suggestions including ones on drug policy e.g. legal use of medical cannabis for pain relief in cancer and multiple sclerosis patients, lead to his resignation from this position in 2014. Now, he advises the campaign for better transport in the UK and makes his voice heard by having authored multiple books including his autobiography “Against the Grain”. GCHQ, the UK government's intelligence and cyber agency, recruited Welsh-born Gareth Williams in 2000 when he was still at university completing a PHD. He had come to their attention due to his extraordinary intellect, problem solving abilities and computer wizardry. By the time Gareth was 31 he had spent a decade protecting the national security of the UK and had been involved in several projects and missions of global importance. In August 2010 whilst he was on secondment with MI6, the secret intelligence service, Gareth's dead body was found curled up inside a holdall in the bath tub of his central London flat. The bag had been padlocked shut and the keys were found inside the bag under Gareth's body. Gareth's fingerprints were not found on the padlock or the bath tub and Gareth was not wearing gloves. When a man who made a living at being an inventor, travelling showman, and radio broadcaster announced that he had the cure for cancer, people were thrilled. Finally, there was a cure for this terrible disease. Except the man, Norman Baker, was no hero - he was simply a fraud, who conned thousands of people out of millions of dollars with his so-called "cure." Yet he was able to open and operate two hospitals promoting this "cure" - one of which being the Crescent Hotel in Arkansas, which still shows its evidence of Norman's terrible schemes in its history, paranormal visitors, and a surprising discovery made on it's property in 2019 ....
