Two of the highest rated episode of the #SaturdayMorningHustle podcast at Goodpods.com are back-to-back shows from June of 2021 about empathy. Today we flashback to both episodes, because we can all use a little more empathy, understanding and change that comes from communicating with each other in better ways. We start with "We Need More Empathy in Personal and Business Life" (6/19/21) when I issued a Radical Empathy Challenge to everyone listening followed by "Action After Empathy" from the next week (6/26/21) detailing the value of acting upon the idea of empathy we had discussed the week before. Action is required. Change is an opportunity. Success comes from taking advantage of opportunities. Empathy + Action = Success. Let's talk about it! Find these two episodes on the Best Episodes list at https://goodpods.app.link/141Xc11b8yb along with other top-rated shows from the past 6 years. It's Saturday. I'm in the office. They knew something was wrong, so they spent the entire night searching everywhere for her. They pleaded with the police to help with the search because this was so out of character for her, but all of their cries for help were ignored. That is, until her body was discovered. Now the police would have to investigate a murder, which would lead to the discovery of a serial predator…. One of their own. Here we are at the end of another year! Looking back at my notes from the “Best Episodes of 2020” show... The post 257. The Best Episodes of 2021 appeared first on The Testing Psychologist.
This week on Serious Privacy, Paul Breitbarth and K Royal say goodbye to season 2 of Serious Privacy and look forward to season 3. 2021 might be a year that many of us actually would like to forget but for the privacy community, it was an exciting year and a lot of good things have happened. We have new laws, new guidance, more enforcement and court decisions, and a continuously expanding field of privacy professionals. The podcast continued to grow - this is the 91st episode and well over 50,000 downloads to date - and received wide recognition, including from the master of the privacy podcast directory Jeff Jockisch! A few weeks ago, you already heard predictions from lots of IAPP Brussels visitors for 2022. Today, you'll hear ours. Will they come true? Do you agree? We had amazing guests on this season and our first season. It is difficult to choose which ones to feature in this episode. Some episodes are chosen by the listeners, so those are easy, but the others - not so easy at all. You will hear select clips from Helen Dixon about international investigations and dealing with criticism, Romain Robert with noyb (about enforcement taking time), tracking and dark patterns, from episode 36 (Jocelyn Paulley, Partner at Gowling WLG in London and Lindsey Schultz, Senior Counsel at Global Privacy for Visa), Eric Cole (cybersecurity and ethical hackers - episode relevant again because of Log4Shell), and Emerald de Leeuw (recommendation for Paul to get started) - along with information on PIPL and SCCs. As always, please feel free to share your thoughts with us - therewill be a year end show on the best episodes. Get your vote counted! Follow us on LinkedIn as Serious Privacy and on Twitter @podcastprivacy @EuroPaulB and @HeartofPrivacy.
This very special episode has us writing an abstract to an academic paper... about "The Boss Baby"! In a less rigorous way, we debate the meaning of the word "extreme". We check in to see how our podcast and personal SEO is doing. Charlie revises a previous controversial rating, but only after Alex leaves.
For the next few weeks, we're giving you the BEST Episodes of EACH Season. Kicking it off is SEASON 1 EP 12 - SEX SEX SEX, we all want it, but its the hardest thing to talk about sometimes. Why is that? In this episode we answer sex before marriage, wedding night blues, and if you had the chance to do it again...would you wait till you got married? We attempt to tackle all these questions in a podcast where we get straight up REAL! No cute words, no apologies, just real. Its time we address topics that we NEED to talk about more so than want to talk about. We look forward to hearing your thoughts. Pull up a chair, you're invited. #1 How To Build a Legacy Business That Makes a DIFFERENCE w/ Alex CharfenThe best gift that we could have as entrepreneurs in order to be successful.Do you see Crisis or OpportunityAlex Charfen drooped this gem with 1,376 more in today’s podcast episode!A few nuggets I learned on this podcast:#1 You are either committed or you’re not. It’s funny because I kind of (well not kind of..I do…) hibernate and become anti-social because I’m working on a few projects with KKN and not many people understand what I’m doing and why I’m doing it. But not let the outside noise interfere with your inside. #2 Mistakes happen in business but they aren’t really mistakes. They just teach you what not to do or find another way in doing something. You always learn from them.rings me to the next point…#3 Do the work on the inside. That inner work is so important to align and connect with yourself otherwise you lose yourself in the process. Without the awareness, connecting with what you want and how you feel then you can’t really progress forward and will always feel stuck.#4 Own who you are and where you are. It doesn’t matter if you are a sinking ship, you can always bounce back from adversity if we are open and curious enough to see it as an opportunity.#5 It’s about the process and enjoying the journey and not just aiming for the outcome. The journey is really where the fun is at because the challenges, the obstacles…all the challenging times. They all make it worth it when you turn those into opportunities and keep taking imperfect action and fail forward. There are many more nuggets within this podcast and would highly recommend checking it out. #2 Become The LEADER Your Business Needs w/ Dom QuartuccioThis Episode is super special as we do have our special guest and co-host Dominick Quartuccio. Discussing on how to Become The LEADER Your Business Needs.Into the entrepreneurial world with clarity and Understanding the secrets to leadership and leading yourself first.I want yout to jump in on this and dive deep to know:What's the 3 Type of People in your LifeWhere to Focus your EnergyBiggest mistakes in mistakescorporate spacethe secret to purpose# 3 A Buddhist Monk drops the F**K bomb out of frustration! w/ Alp Tekin2 questions to success and happiness You either live or die and it’s predicated on these two questions...In episode 72 of the Mind of George show we unpack the secrets to success and happiness with a Buddhist monk who spent 7 years living in a monastery...I guess when the truth is being delivered, sometimes it needs that intensity haha...My dear friend Alp Tekin came on the podcast to talk about the 2 secrets to success in business and in life and this should be required listening for every Entrepreneuer...So when you read this, you have two options:1. Listen and grow2. Pretend you are going to and continue staying stuckProbably one of the biggest hidden secrets to my success, and most of my friend's success, and for whatever reason is not talked about enough.#4What’s Working in Social Media Going Into 2021 w/Cory WarrenHe's the guy who can break the ice & talk to anybody... Bringing smile and joy to the world while helping hundreds and hundreds of companies absolutely crush their digital marketing strategy, growing and scaling with a heart centered approach. He's going to be sharing a few things that are absolutely required for you to maintain your business, build and scale, and even have a chance to succeed based on hundreds and hundreds of experience with companies that he's worked with.A hero, we call him the vegan Superman. He's known as lean green dad. He's known as C4 Social.#5 Accept Mediocrity or plan for GreatnessYou either plan for your greatness or you accept your mediocrity. At the end of the day, the choice is yours.Ideas are shit. Execution is everything. If you fail to plan, you plan to fail.If it's in your head, it's not real. If it's not in your calendar, it's not gonna work. And most of the time our success is prevented by our obsession or distraction by consuming more details or thinking about it more or overthinking it, or over-planning it.What is that thing that you've been thinking about that you want to fix that bothers but haven't done anything about having put that thing into practice?I want you to..start taking those ideasstart trusting your gut & your intuition, your wisdomstart putting them into practice.I want you to make it real.

So many working in post-production around the world are obsessed with making the transition from being an assistant to being an editor. But does the journey end once you’re sitting in the editor’s chair? Or has the journey just begun? Editor and director Susan Vaill, ACE (Space Force, Gray’s Anatomy, This Is Us) has been helping to answer these questions as a mentor to many in scripted entertainment in Hollywood, and she’s become so passionate about the subject of helping assistant make the transition (and stick the landing, so to speak) that she even recently lead an Editor’s Guild panel titled “Bumped Up: The Leadership Workshop for New Editors.” So what are the most important questions that assistants who’ve recently been promoted into the editor’s chair don’t know to ask? What surprises might come their way they aren’t prepared for? What politics should they be aware of? What soft skills are necessary to build relationships and get invited back to jobs in the future? And if you haven’t made the transition yet but you are oh so close!!!, then what differentiates you from other people vying for the same position (especially if they have more experience than you)? What can you do to stand out? NOTE: This interview was conducted shortly before the pandemic struck (early March, 2020), so as you’re listening keep that in mind as we discuss her upcoming panels and general networking strategies. Want to Hear More Episodes Like This One? » Click here to subscribe and never miss another episode Here's What You'll Learn: The fun story of how Susan and her twin sister ended up in a classic Double Mint Gum commercial in the ’80s. Susan’s amazing origin story and how just ONE experience with deck to deck editing in high school gave her the power to “see the matrix” and recognize editing ‘tricks’ in films & television shows early on in life. How a documentary job 20 years ago directly led to her working on Space Force today. The pivotal moment where Susan realized she had a lot more to offer than what was on her resume. And how she leveraged her unique perspective, background, and personality to make her resume so compelling that it jumpstarted her career. Hot Tip: Inject your personality into your resume! How Susan’s passion and life experiences motivated her to spearhead the panel on moving from Assistant Editor to Editor called ‘Bumped Up: the Leadership Workshop for New Editors’. Why the most common question she gets at her panels may surprise you. What compels Susan to put on these panels and give back to people in the industry. How she thinks about the difficulty of Assistant Editors moving to Editor in the current environment where they aren’t really gaining the creative skills it requires. Why Editors have to be proactive about mentoring their Assistant Editors to get the next generation ready to be our peers. The benefits of making a habit of getting away and taking lunch together. Why it’s so important to create a really comfortable, safe working place of your edit bay. F.A.I.L. = First Attempt in Learning. NOTE: Susan’s panel is limited to 30 participants, but they’ll do them every 3 months. Keep an eye on MPEG's events calendar page. She has edited six television pilots and helped launch five shows in their first season. Born and raised in Los Angeles, Susan appeared with her twin sister Sarah in an ‘80s Doublemint gum commercial and the Hal Ashby film Bound For Glory. She studied film theory and art history at Williams College and got an MFA in film production at USC. After assistant-editing documentaries and feature films like The Last Samurai, Susan edited over 70 episodes of Grey’s Anatomy which won the Golden Globe for Best Drama Series in 2008. Susan also directed three episodes of the series, in which Loretta Devine gave a guest performance that earned her an Emmy in 2011. More recently, Susan turned to comedy, editing the half-hour series Grandfathered, Me, Myself & I, and the upcoming comedy Space Force, created by Greg Daniels and Steve Carrell. She also edited the legal drama Doubt, the award-winning mega-hit This Is Us, and the critically acclaimed AMC dramedy Lodge 49. Two of Susan’s episodes of Lodge 49 earned spots on The New York Times’ and Entertainment Weekly’s year-end lists of Best Episodes of Television of 2019. In 2018, Susan was elected to the society of American Cinema Editors, and in 2019 she spearheaded ‘Bumped Up: the Leadership Workshop for New Editors’, co-sponsored by ACE and the Editors Guild, which she leads 2-3 times a year. Susan’s interests include golf and music-driven story-telling, and her favorite karaoke song is “I’m On A Boat” by The Lonely Island.
